Thanks for this and your other video showing the front install. I just finished installing some Kicker DSC654 6.5" speakers in the front and ran into a small issue. I was using the Scosche SAHC634 brackets and the speaker itself was a little too large and made it to where I could barely get the 10mm bolt back in. I didnt want to have to drill at all. Thankfully I was able to get it to work by using a much smaller screw, 2 washers and a nut instead of using the stock 10mm bolt. Sounds much better now. Next is the rears, then installing my MTX 10's in the back.
Ive been trying to figure out the best way to get sound deadening back there. Was considering just doing trunk side. Ill be doing under the back plastic panel now too. Thanks dude!

I got the pillar covers back on on 2nd try. There is a black plastic thing attached to a white strip of plastic (looks like one end of a zip tie). These weren't re attached at first, which is why they were not flush. I got them back in place, and now everything looks fine. I checked how secure the back speakers are from underneath, pretty solid, I'll see if they hold, if they start to rattle I'll have to secure them better
Hey CluEngineer I have a question, I ordered the same speakers from crutchfield and they sent me brackets for my car but they’re like too small to the point where the screw that goes into the car is unreachable. I wanted to know if you remember the model number for those brackets you used for this video.
The main REASON manufacturers make interiors with less & less access to screws, is so the do it yourselfers will be less likely to risk marking up, bending, or snapping things which forces them to seek out a professional to do it. Looks is definitely secondary. Those speakers could just as easily have been mounted from the bottom up, using bolts accessed from the trunk. It certainly wasn't to gain 2 inches of space.
I have the 8th gen coupe and its easier as you fold down the back seat and lift up the plastic cover and slide it out. My video will be out soon and I used the old speaker and used it to put the new speakers and even reused the original harness. No need to buy all the extra stuff just a little creativity hack. Video coming out July 1st.
Nice work Lil guy but that huge gap you have around the speakers killed any midbass you might have had. Plus a little overkill on the disassembly, but could prove useful for another purpose, so I say bravo
I noticed a difference in sound quality when I switched my speakers to the Kickers. I went to Crutchfield.com to order all of my speakers. It came with the connector for my car and the black adapter to mount the speakers for free. (P.S. I am not sponsored by Crutchfield)

I am not sure what that connector is. Check by searching google or order the connector online. You can check to see if the connector works by opening up your trunk and testing it out before you need to take out the back seat.

What year is your Civic? I dont see that info anywhere. Amazon Says these dont fit my 2014, so of course I need to verify. Also do you have a speaker baffle/mount adapter recommendation for the front door speakers??
My car is a 2013 Honda Civic LX. Amazon says they do NOT fit mine either. A 2013 and 2015 Honda Civic are very similar cars. I do not have a baffle mount recommendation. I didn't use one for my car and it seems to work well!

The speakers are Kicker 43DSC504 and the connector came with the speakers when I purchased them from crutch field. I am not using an amp and they do sound better than the stock speakers. I hope this helps.

There is something wrong with that part of the website. I even tried out my vehicle and it says my car doesn't fit. I went through the website in a different way to see if it would work and found that connector. Take a look at other sources online. I have only seen the connector change since 2011.
That’s a coupe...different than sedan... on sedan the cover can be popped off...the coupe ...fold back seat down & remove the whole back plate . All do you can get direct OEM Honda plug n play replacement speakers ( I think made by Pioneer) no adapter needed..

Try going from the bottom of the speakers and see if you can add a few screws. What really bothers me is when speakers start to rattle so keep your fingers crossed that screw wont losen.
I am going to go through this again to secure the speakers better. Crutchfield told me how to secure the Polk DB652 to the Honda Civic adaptor bracket, so I'll just bite the bullet and do this again. I put in my front door speakers today, relatively easy compared to the back. At least I've already done the back once, so am more familiar with the job. Will be nice to know the speakers are nice and secure! Am going to add an aftermarket amp on Tuesday (Clarion XC1410) to really power my 4 Polk Audio DB 652's!
I'm having it installed at a car audio shop so I will tell you how it works when they are finished. I wasn't sure I wanted to tackle the amp install. I called a place in Denver that has really good reviews, and talked to them, their price seemed reasonable, so I'm going to let them do it. I did put an alpine head unit in my last car, which was pretty easy. Now with the Civic I don't want to replace the stock head unit, and lose the back up camera, and possibly other features. I wish they didn't tie so many things together with the radio these days! Anyway, looking forward to the added power going to my new speakers!

I got the connectors and brackets as a kit from Crutchfield. I am not sure if the sell them on their own. But the ones on amazon are the same. Just make sure the work for your year.

You don't have to remove the back seat at all. Just push the cushion to the side and unbolt the side pillars.

Did the new speakers have plastic rings attached, or did you attach the news speakers to a ring? I see those speaker rings available at Crutchfield
They came with the rings but I did not use them

Just FYI, your mileage may vary when replacing the rear stock speakers in a Honda because the stock head unit way underpowers the rear speakers.

You don't got to take nothing out just pull the speaker caps off they pulled off so easy the speaker vents you can pull them off in 1 minute
