Pin this comment so everyone sees it instead of cutting into the harness of the car if you’re going to destroy the speaker I would solder the connecter from the speaker on to the new one so I it’s plug and play
For those of you that don't know, they sell a wiring harness that allows you to just connect to the stock connectors of the car with no splicing.. However thank you, answer my question about the brackets for the speakers.
Hey Jesse which color wire is pos on the civic ft and rear I going to look to buy one today car that is and I probably going to want up grade could you also recommend a great sounding 6.5 speaker for rear and doors I don't mind spending more for a louder good sounding quality speaker the civic has the premium package with 360 watts but I love good quality music and volume I respect your opinion your the man your frien Carl
Excellent video. Just replaced 2 faulty speakers in my 6 year old Civic in Sydney. It looks like Honda these days designs for a 5 year obsolescence . So much for Honda's past reputation as a quality car company.
Just did this on my same exact whip as this one bro. Install could not have gone better!! I really really appreciate it. Speakers are super nice and loud. Just need more bass, will be adding a sub to help that out.
I personally say, there just won't be much of a difference putting in aftermarket ones. If you're just going for an enjoyable sound experience, no it's not a big upgrade like replacing door or rear speakers. Add a sub and put dimension to the sound that way. Tweeters only produce a tiny amount of high frequencies. I'd only personally change them out if they started degrading but not till then.
Yea i would say component are better if you plan on adding tweeters it’ll give you a overall better sound quality now if you want something easy and simple to install then the coaxial will work but add a speaker amp
@@JesseRizo I am thinking of a more simple way. However, what was that sound with that coaxial set? Did that coaxial speaker produce great high frequency as well?
You make it look easy ... I'm sitting on some memphis audio PRX speakers ... going to drop off at the shop tomorrow 2013 Honda civic exl it has tweeters pretty cool . Component speakers in the front coaxial rear deck with single 12sub . All are memphis audio PRX amplifier is just a 250 watts ... the installation fee is $350 is that a reasonable price
Would you recommend using an aftermarket bracket versus the stock method that you did? I have a Rockford Fosgate door speaker in trying to install and finding the holes don't align with the aftermarket bracket I got
That intro tho! Perfect :) Its so cool to see the process! You make it seems easy but also very clear that someone like me could very easily mess it all up haha
Lol glad you thought so, lol I try to make it easy and show every process because in the past I’ve watched videos on how to do something and they never explain correctly or show the process then ur left guesing lol, thanks for watching :)!!!
I am actually going to install these exact same speakers in my 2013 civic, looks like the door and rear decks didn’t change so I can reference this vid. glad to see the speakers fit the front door, my concern was the Rockford’s were deeper than the factory shallow speakers and that the window would end up hitting them when you put them down. The factory speakers also have pathetic sized magnets, the front door ones are even bigger than the rear, the rear ones have magnets the size of a tweeter. I think I read somewhere that when Honda designed that sound system (maybe it applies to most cars) they used a lower impedance rating (hence much smaller magnets) in the back because the wires are longer and the power has longer to travel so if they were similar speakers to the front they’d sound even crappier. After all that they still aren’t good sounding speakers anyway. I put an aftermarket system in and already blew my rear speakers out.
Yea I checked that before even installing I rolled down the window and up and down just to make sure I didn’t show it in the video but I checked lol, 🤔 I never knew that but it does make sense if you think about it, and yea just if you do install the speakers they do sell actual brackets for the speakers I went the cheap route and just broke off the old speakers and used the stock brackets lol thanks for watching 👍
@@JesseRizo It's all good bro, I took the door panel off and checked anyway. On my 2013 Civic Si sedan it's 4 inches back(driver side door) from the mounting plate to the metal on the door. I just eyeballed it with a measuring tape but it's a general measurement for speaker depth. 👍
Of all the video's I've watched this is the cleanest and clearest video on how to do this. I would have gotten an adaptor instead of cutting the wires but so simple. You are also the first video using the og bracket. Just out of curiosity if you still see this. Should I get another amp? I have the 2015 crv ex-l and I felt like after replacing the speakers the quality was better but the bass left me sad. What can we do for the under the seat sub. Can I bump that up and get it louder?
Noticed you used a coaxial speaker. Any idea if the stock speaker is a component speaker since the tweeter are on the pillars? Thinking of just doing a component set up if possible.
It’s just a component speaker I just got these for a good deal as it was sponsored so I threw them in but you can get a component speaker and just upgrade your tweeters and your good my friend 👍
I was right! All finished my install, just as you showed here. This video and your one on installing the amp & subs were virtually all I needed, as far as information goes. 😁 🙏 Thank You again, Jesse. 👍
Matthew Howell same here. 2013 Coupe LX and I have the front tweeters also. Does your have tweeters too? If so are you going to try and replace them or leave them alone? I want to put better ones in eventually also, I have read that replacing them makes a night and day difference and Rockford fosgate makes a good tweeter that should also fit behind our a pillar covers.
chrisworld2 my 2013 Honda Civic is a lx sedan, so mine only has the speakers in the doors, but the Rockford fosgate in the video does sound good, I have them in my car now and they are clearer than the stock speakers
Matthew Howell if you want tweeters you should be able buy the a pillar covers for the ex sedan or lx/ex coupe, but make sure you don’t buy the SI ones because they won’t match unless you want black a pillars. Then you can fit whatever tweeters you want with a little bit of work into the housings and run the wires simply right down behind the dash and tap into the door speaker wires. Make sure if you do buy aftermarket tweeters for it, it’s important they have the little built in crossover capacitor otherwise you’ll blow them up. You wouldn’t have to take the dash apart to even run the wires if you wanted. Not sure what the non tweeter system sounds like but you might love having tweeters, because I do. And it may be a fun project if you’re looking to upgrade your audio even more.
@@JesseRizo I know you don't have to reply I just don't know anyone with knowledge on this. But I tried setting my gain by ear and no matter how high I crank the gain there is no distortion. 300rms subs (2) with 600 watt amp wired 2 ohms. So I just use it as a volume knob...?
Can install this in a stock 2010 corolla? Each stock speaker is like 15w rms so idk how it’ll do with this speaker which is 45w rms, can the stock head unit keep up with these speakers? Or would it sound less loud than stock

Did you give any thought to window clearance behind the speaker magnet? It looks like the speakers were relatively the same physical size (front to the rear of the magnets) as the stock speakers but until you actually had the door panel off and pulled the old speaker, you wouldn't have known if the replacement speakers were actually the same size as the factory speakers. If the new speakers were deeper than the old speakers, wouldn't you have had to custom-build some sort of mounting to move the speaker from deeper in the door inwards (towards the back of the door panel) to allow for window clearance behind the new speaker magnet? How did you know that these particular speakers would be a more-or-less straight swap-out from the old speakers?
I think I mentioned something about it I also mention buying the actual speaker bracket that goes for the car would be better as the speaker will sit even better than reusing the stock bracket, but yes as far as clearance it will clear it and I did the same install on my friends civic on his car it was the tester so that’s how I knew on my car it would fit but once again I would recommend buying the bracket because when putting the door panel back it’s a little hard to align the speaker hole to the door so it’ll take a bit longer to install then normal if you get the actual bracket there won’t be no issue there just up to you if u want to stay on the budget side or not (and this issue happen to both my car and when I did my friends car) I hope that answers ur question if not let me know I’m here to help
This look like a pretty good upgrade over factory. If you need to tap into factory harness I can’t recommend posi tap connectors enough. They’re a little on the expensive side but way better than the old school male and female spade connectors and allows you to go back to stock with ease 😁 love that connector you used though for this application it makes perfect sense. Posi taps are ideal for a boost gauge that or similar that may be removed later. Prying interior panels is always so nerve wrecking for me. Looks like you got some quality removal tools though which makes such a difference! I like how you re used the factory bracket makes for a super clean install👍
THey are expensive lol was trying to keep the whole build on a budget in reality I believe in total everything was $300 something out of my pocket not counting the materials that were sent to me to review but still for a budget it was good lol the only reason I went with the solder connectors is because they gave me them from work so it worked out for me besides that theconnectors I used are around 5-9 a piece as well lol, I agree I’m always scared to pry the panels and breaking the plastic or something lol,
