Listen, I thought a SpongeBob Musical was the stupidest thing I've ever heard, and I roasted the hell out of it during its run. Until I actually joke-watched it.....and fell in love with it. Head. Over. Heels. In. Love.
I lived in NYC during its whole run, and regretted not seeing it until after their Tonys performance. I made up for lost time by seeing it twice in the 2 weeks before it closed!
Yeah, I think I had to listen to legally blonde (the song) or Whipped into shape to really considering bopping to it, but now I can't stop listening to it. LBB and Christian Borle have great chemistry.
Completely agree, I couldn't stand the show because I only heard the first two songs and they were just a bit too cheesy for me. But I got tickets to go and see my singing teacher perform as Elle with a couple of friends and it blew me away!
hadestown. i saw it on a school trip and i thought i wouldn’t like it. it didn’t seem like my type of musical. but now it’s my favorite musical of all time
So I’m not really into Hadestown, and today I did a masterclass with Mariah Rose Faith (Regina on the Mean Girls tour) and she said “I think you would sound great singing Flowers from Hadestown” and so she’s the only reason I’m gonna listen to it
Mean girls When I first heard they were making a mean girls the musical I actually thought it was just one of cash grabs But then I heard the cast album and I thought on this is different and I don’t hate it Then I saw a production of it and now I love it
Beetlejuice was so hyped up that I didn’t get on the bandwagon for the longest time. Then last month, I uh..., saw a slime tutorial of it, and now I am obsessed and love that show! RIP 😭🙌🏼🖤
mine tbh was Hamilton. i know what your thinking "hOw CoUlD yOu NoT lIkE hAmIlToN?!" and i agree with you. i thought it was HEAVELY overrated until i saw it on disney plus and was like "ok thats some good stuff right there"
I watched it with my gf when it dropped on Disney. I dreaded it the first time. The next day she wanted to watch it again and we weren’t doing anything really interesting so I was like “why not” and I’m not sure how or why but I adored it the second time around
Definitely HAMILTON. Before I saw it, I thought it was so overrated and definitely not worth the hype. Then I listened to ‘The Schuyler Sisters’ and thought I would listen to more. Now I am ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH IT
I hated SIX because I thought it was going to be some robot-like alien futuristic technological stuff (just by looking at the costumes) kind of like be more chill, then I read someone call it a historical musical and I freaked out. Its been like a year and I still listen to the album at least 3 times a week
mine was Hamilton, I literally was like "who would make a musical about Alexander Hamilton?" I never understood it, my friends LOVEDD it for three years and I missed out on it, I watched it on Disney+ thinking I would be wasting my time. and when I finished at 3am I was bundled up in my blanket TEARS DOWN MY FACE, I listen to it every day
I was so quick to judge Six. I still don't consider a musical in a traditional sense but the music is bomb and it's just a really fun time, kinda like Mamma Mia
Hamilton was the show that I hated before I saw it on Disney+ and now I can't get some of the songs out my mind. The choreography is so amazing! Btw I saw Hamilton for the second time today and I cried so hard during the "It's Quiet Uptown" scene.....so hauntingly beautiful. I'm sure I will discover many more great moments when I watch again and again in the future! I hope they release it on Bluray so I may add this gem to my collection of over 40 musicals (including CATS 2019...don't judge me, I love it lol! But I also own the CATS 1998 DVD).
I didn't get the hype around Falsettos until I saw the proshot, the music is great but you really need the context of the story to really appreciate it.
Back in 2018, my dad told me about the first show we would see in our new state. It was Little Shop of Horrors. I had never heard of it, so my dad showed me some songs. I HATED it and dread the entire drive there. When the show started, I was already not into it. At the end, I was in tears from joy, confusion, and sadness. Now, it’s one of my top 10 favorites! I try to see every community production of it near me now!
beetlejuice! the soundtrack on its own annoyed me and seemed kind of cringey but then i got to see the literal last performance in the winter garden before the bway shutdown and it is by far the most impressive and creative show i’ve ever seen
I HATED Hamilton because my friends WOULD NOT stop talking about it, but I watched it with them when it went onto Disney+.... and... IM OBSESSED WITH IT NOW
AYEE same! This girl at my dance school when I was in high school would never shut up about it and I just assumed it was overhyped... but it’s extremely good!
I already commented but I actually have another one. Be More Chill. Now hear me out, I hated it as much as the next guy, but I local theatre in my area (with a great reputation) was doing it and I decided to go see it. I loved it. I think it is meant to be performed in a rinky dink type space and not be taken seriously. As soon as it moved to Broadway and became high tech and professional it ruined it. The point of it is it’s not meant to be great but it’s meant to be fun and funny and relatable and it does a great job at that. Walking out of the theatre I was smiling and that’s one of the best things a show can do. That being said I still don’t like the OBC recording but I do enjoy the original cast recording. I think it’s fun and quirky and more people should give it a chance. I am glad, however, that the Broadway show closed.
Totally agree! I never really understood the hate it got. The music and plot may be a little kitschy, but from my perspective it has a lot of the components I really enjoy in a musical. However, I wasn't even aware the Broadway version existed, so maybe if that was my first introduction to the musical I might not have liked it as much as I did.
I reeeaaally was not sure about The Lighting Thief. The cast album is okay on it’s own, and I was so afraid the show was gonna be as bad as the movie. BUT Y’ALL IT IS A DIFFERENT MAGICAL EXPERIENCE IN PERSON. Absolutely one of my favorite shows I’ve seen.
Okay, so there’s this musical called ‘The Secret Garden’ based off the novel of the same name. Now I read the novel and in all honesty, I didn’t like it a whole lot. So when my mom got us tickets, I wasn’t as excited to go as normal. But than I saw it, and my god it was amazing. The score is haunting yet beautiful and heart wrenching and you can just feel the pain that Archibald and Mary go through, and after the musical, I just remember bawling my eyes out in the car with my mom on our way to Wendy’s. All in all, it’s definitely a must watch. Personally, if possible, it’s best experienced live, as just listening to the soundtrack won’t make you feel as much as seeing it live, but that’s a given with any musical really.
You're so right about Big Fish, we did it at my high school this past year and when it was announced everyone was PISSED. No one wanted to do it and everyone was really upset, but by the end of it we were all absolutely in love with the show. It's truly something you need to experience, listening to it isn't quite enough.
I had the backwards experience for Finding Neverland: I saw it and liked it a lot, but going back to the album I found it was kinda ordinary on its own.
I sang “Send In The Clowns” from A Little Night Music in a recital in 2016... right when the killer clowns were in the news... the old ladies in the audience did not like me.
I actually never thought I would hate a show! I always like to look at the positives in everything! Every show I have seen was great and I would gladly see any of them again! There were definitely shows I didn’t know as much about going in but I was BLOWN AWAY at how awesome they were and I became a huge fan! *cough* Book of Mormon *cough*
you're gonna hate me, but for me it was Rent. I never hated it, though! I always liked the music but I never really cared for the show itself??? until last year when I watched this very small production in a tiny room with 35 people sitting in black plastic chairs and I GOT IT, I left the show crying, obviously, and with a new appreciation for it
I didn’t think I would like Hamilton as I’m not a rap fan or have any background knowledge as I’m Canadian. I now fully understand the hype after watching it on Disney plus.
I wasn't a fan of Les Mis at all, I thought it was boring and long and I didn't care for it. I saw it last summer and it was absolutely amazing! I still don't love the album recordings, but I now recognize it as a great live show
I was invited by my brother and sister in law to see the musical Aida on tour, and I said yes because I love musicals. When I listened to the album prior to seeing the show, I thought it was ok, but wasn't really bubbling with excitement. Of course after seeing it, that all changed! Seeing how it was staged, and hearing the songs in context, and just how powerful and emotional they are was all it took. I was obsessed with it for months afterward, and would see it again in a heartbeat!
Let's spill this tea! And that musical for me was The Little Mermaid. I liked the music, but I didn't think it would translate well on stage. But then I saw the show and I loved it a lot!
I HATED Six the musical because it felt like a musical theatre knock off of the Spice Girls, but then I saw filmed Megasix's and filmed live performances (not bootlegged) and fell in love with it. The energy and element of togetherness shown throughout every cast was incredible and I couldn't get the songs out of my head. Definitely a show needed to be seen live.
I'm deviating from the concept at hand but I wanted to share. So I knew The Phantom of the Opera had a load of success and it's the longest-running Broadway show of all time. I was like "ok, why does everybody love this so much?". So, since it's quarantine and we're all bored out of our minds, I saw that Kat had posted about Phantom on her IG and it was trending on UA-cam so I said, "you know, let's just watch it and see what's up." And I've got to tell you, I fell IN LOVE. The music is absolutely incredible and the acting was so fantastic, Sierra and Ramin are top-notch. I wish it was still on UA-cam so I could watch it again. I've listened to so many songs on repeat in the last month
My husband took me to New York City to see hadestown and while on the plane I listened to the soundtrack and thought WTF! then, sat down to watch the show and was an utter teary mess at the end. It was beautiful!
Okay, I'm binge watching your videos because as a semi-baby theatre kid I need the education and my friends aren't as into musicals as me and I just- I love your videos so much.
Mine was Shrek The Musical. My school announced that this year's spring musical would be Shrek and I almost didn't audition. Then I actually watched the Broadway version on Netflix and realized how good it was. Now I am playing Princess Fiona this March!
@@ameliaarnette3370 it was so much fun! I loved the tap dance and all the songs, I'm not much of a belter though so it was a struggle to figure out how to make them work in my range lol 😂 definitely an amazing experience and I would so do it again if I could!!
FALSETTOS- I got the 7-day free trial of Broadway HD to watch Eva in Miss Saigon, but they also had the 2016 falsettos pro-shot and I like Christian Borle so I was like "Why not?" It ended up being one of the best two hours of theater I've ever seen- the music, the acting, the story, the structure -were all so perfect
I was in my high school production of Big Fish. I was the witch and had to smile so hard through my tears during the last few scenes. I was supposed to be glad for his happy ending and I knew it was going to happen, but the scene destroyed me. When we got offstage everyone kinda sobbed as we quick changed... It was a time.
for me it was Legally Blonde. I never hated it, but I make a point to watch the source material before I watch a musical adaptation, and Legally Blonde left such and impact on me that when I heard the cast recording I thought it was bland and immediately not as good as its source. buuuut the MTV pro shot showed up in my recommended yesterday and by the end I was in tears. I'm still not even sure why, but when they all started singing omigod you guys I just wept. anyways Laura Bell Bundy is gorgeous
oooH SAME- I was like "hold up- what- a musical about Spongebob? *laughs hysterically*" When I heard the music I was like "i take back what I said, it's amazing"
QOTD: Urinetown. Never had any desire to listen to the soundtrack or see the show but when my friends dragged me to see it live I was laughing my ass off the entire time
100% hated the lion king. Hated the film, was convinced I’d hate the musical. Saw it at the West-End and cried the whole way through because it was so beautiful
Thranduil_Lannister Stark hmm I’m not really sure I just never got into it anytime I tried to watch it but honestly the musical is next level beautiful :)
I kind of felt the same about The Prom. Before I saw it I loved the songs that the teenagers sing and loved that aspect of the plot but wasn’t quite sure about the bits involving the Broadway actors. But since seeing it, I have fallen in love with the whole show and it is now of my favourite shows of all time
For me, Shrek the Musical. Loved the movie, wasn't 100% sure if the musical show was going to be good. Ended up being better than I had expected. Definitely worth a watch at least.
i definitely didn't think i would like come from away before i saw it just because of the description. then i saw it and it is now my favorite show. there is literally no other feeling than the one i got when i saw that show. now, it's my favorite cast recording. i don't know what it is about that show, but it gives me SO much serotonin???
I tried to watch Les Mis's movie and i HATED HATED HATED IT. It was so boring and slow. But one day my friend invited me to see it live and she had free tickets so i let her drag me along. I so so enjoyed it. It was the sweetest and rawest production
Hamilton. I didn’t hate it when I listened to it, but I just didn’t understand it. I’m a visual person so the album was a lot for me to try to understand. Then I saw it in Chicago and was hooked. The visuals of this show make this show. The ensemble is incredible and really are the people who made me appreciate the show so much more.
The concept of Dear Evan Hansen weirded me out until I found a bootleg and watched it and OH MY GOSH IT IS THE MOST AMAZING SHOW EVER I CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE IT I LOVE IT SO MUCH AHHHH.
I was in Big Fish and I love it!!!!! When I first found out that we were doing it, nobody had seen it and the soundtrack made zero sense but then I found a bootleg and I watched it and I was SO EXCITED FOR IT! We did it in 2019 and it has been my favorite production that I've been in!
Honestly, when I heard that there was a Lightning Thief musical I put it off for so long. As a fan of the PJO series and had recently watched the movies (the movies were like a whole different entity, NOT in a good way). I had very little expectations because of this, but when eventually listened to the cast recordings and saw a bootleg of it, I fell in love with it immediately. I loved how good the songs were and how well they portrayed the characters. Good Kid is a good example of this because it has a lot of jokes and comedy throughout it we don't really see the sad side of Percy that was buried beneath all the sarcasm.
For me, I was in a part of the BMC fandom that was very,,, aggressive. They all seemed to hate this one musical saying that it 'robbed' bmc of a tony (or some award), so I had a vendetta against it. I tried it out, and didn't like the first song, so gave up. A while later, after disengaging from the previous fandom I gave it another try, this time with the Broadway cast album. Oh my lord. It's wonderful. That musical was Hadestown. Absolutely deserving of every award it has gotten, such a beautiful and heartbreaking story.
Honestly, I hated "Mama Mia," after watching the movie, and then when I was able to see one of the final Broadway shows before it closed, I went to see it and totally understood why it was so much fun. To me, it's the infectious fun of the cast onstage doing these total standard pop songs with such joy is something that totally didn't translate (for me) from the screen.
For a while I HATED Hamilton. I thought it was so overrated and one of my friends forced me to listen to the music one time and (although I actually thought it was good) I claimed to hate it cuz I didn’t want to be one of “those girls.” Now I am definitely one of “those girls” and I’m proud. I listened to the music when they announced the pro shot was coming out early and I became obsessed.
I hated Hamilton at first too, and one girl I know said theater kids who don't like Hamilton aren't real theater kids and I got really mad because I thought it was really overrated and even though a lot of people like it doesn't mean the ones who don't are wrong because everyone is different (and I still think that way) but after a few times of hearing it and understanding the story I really liked it.
I think it’s a trend so many people hated Hamilton bc it was like a bandwagon and rap (it took me FOUR YEARS of slowly listening to it😅). But once someone actually listens to the music and follows the story, it flips a switch!
I wasn't very keen on Six at first because of the alternatives and their 'okay' clothing and the fact that there's only 10 songs on the album but then I saw it live and it was really good! It definetly didn't feel like a concert like so many people have been saying it was but it was really good! I would have prefered a more '2 hour musical' kind of show going into more detail, but I'm grateful of Six. It's such a unique and different aproach to musicals. So thank you Six! For being wonderful!
It felt like a concert to me, but a concert with a story because there was still a plot. I didn't think I'd like it at first because I'm not a big fan of modern pop music (in general, there are exceptions) and a lot of the artists (not all of them) that the songs were inspired by. I'm also not a big concert person either. But I had the opportunity to see it and LOVED it!!! The soundtrack is amazing.
This is weird but The Last 5 Years, I tried listening to it when I was much too young. And then I actually saw the movie version (which idk where the theater community stands on that one but I like it) and now it’s one of my favs
Dear Evan Hansen meant nothing to me previous to when I saw it. I was never touched by the music and never connected to the characters. Saw it live and while it doesn't frequent my playlist it has a different place in my heart. I cried twice.
INTO THE WOODS!!! I hated the music, and I hated it when I saw the Disney movie, but I recently got the chance to be in it and it quickly became my favorite show. I can't even express how much this show changed my life and I can't believe that I hated it lololol unfortunately our production got cancelled due to corona but it was one of the most incredible moments of my life :)
You know the drill: 1. Alexander Hamilton/ A.Burr 2. Christine Daae/Raoul/Erik 3. Lydia/ Beetlejuice 4. Simba/ NALA 5. King George/ AND PEGGY 6. Anne Boleyn/ King Henry the eighth 7. Sweeney Todd/ Mrs Lovett 8. That one ensemble member who is really super good 9. Eurydice/ Orpheus 0. Galinda/Fiyero
As a British person, I really wanted to love the Full Monty, but when I found out that they changed the location of the film (Sheffield UK) to the USA for the musical, a little part of me died. I don’t know if it’s because it feels like this happens all too often, or because the film to me is so well loved and so very British but because of the Americanisation of the story I just couldn’t get into it. Glad you enjoyed it though! ❤️
I fully admit Hamilton. I am not a rap fan and there was maybe at the time 4 songs I enjoyed listening to but I couldn't explore past them. Then, as a birthday present for my cousin, I took her to go see the tour and I got hooked. I was extremely impressed with the choreography. It worked amazing and the songs were good. Now, I am listening to more and more of the songs and enjoying it. My cousin loves to joke saying, "I knew you would come around." Is it my favorite? No.... Is it really good? Yes! It was better then I thought it would be.
I used to dislike Six because my friend told me it was bad and when I first listened to it I wasn't really sure about it but a week ago I saw a bootleg of it and I've fallen in love with it 😂 Now I'm seeing it on the UK drive in tour! I'm very excited!!!
I didn't dislike Six but I was pretty indifferent about it. I watched a bootleg of it and actually liked it so much, it makes me sad though because I was supposed to see it for my birthday but because of covid it got canceled
I really thought I was gonna hate Legally Blonde! I judged it sooooo hard when it came out like “Ew Broadway THIS is what we’re doing now?” But it is undeniably solid and the pacing is incredible. The pacing is the best part of Legally Blonde And then also Wicked. The Defying Gravity ads don’t sell the element that the show is funny consistently. I’ve laughed more watching Wicked than specifically comedic musicals
WAITRESS. I went because I won a lottery to see the tour. This show became my favorite to experience live. I was SOBBING by the end. Fave musical honestly.
Six the musical. I had only seen the costumes and thought it was about a very show-offy band. After a while I finally saw it and instantly feel in love with "all you wanna do" and Aimie Atkinson. From there my love for it just grew and now I listen to the album all. The. Time (Edit was multiple spelling corrections lol)
a movie musical i'm really looking foward to (more than deh, i admit) is merrily we roll along because ben platt and beanie feldstein are starring in it and they're filming it in REAL TIME WHICH IS SO COOL
I was the opposite of that with Six the musical. I knew that it wasn't really the sort of thing I would usually listen to, but I listened to it and some of the songs were fairly catchy, the girls were all talented, and I was impressed with the historical accuracy. I wanted to give it a chance and thought it wouldn't be that bad live, so I watched it but I hated it! No offence to all the stans and everyone who's worked on it, but it's definitely not my cup of tea.
that’s how i was with spongebob the musical. it’s the only live show i’ve seen on broadway (i saw it on a school trip) and i didn’t listen to it before i saw it, so i didn’t really have high hopes. while i wouldn’t say it’s my favorite show ever, and tbh i really don’t like the plot, i was blown away by the set, costumes, and sound design. honestly, it’s one of my biggest reasons for staying with theatre and pursuing tech roles after acting didn’t seem to be my strength. i like some of the songs (mostly BFF, Daddy Knows Best, and Super Sea Star Savior) but the tech aspects, and how much fun the designers had with the concept, are what really shine
i thought i was gonna hate come from away. i didn't hear the soundtrack, but i just knew it was about the aftermath of 9/11 and both my mother and i were like meh we really don't wanna see this too much, but my mom's drama teacher friend kept saying "you have to see it, you have to see it, you'll love it, you have to see it." so we went and saw it on broadway and within 15 minutes of the show starting, we both knew we were watching possibly the greatest piece of musical theatre ever made.
NGL, at first I thought I'll hate Dear Evan Hansen, because looking at it songs at first glance, it seems like the typical "UwU sad boy fell in love trying to confess" and probably until I try listening to the musical. The first song I head about DEH, was Sincerely Me, and I thought "hey, maybe this isn't so bad" And now, DEH is one of my favorite musicals
For me it was Six and Hamilton, they were just so unlike anything I'd ever listened to before (usually I watched things like Les Mis and Phantom) but now they are some of my favourites.
I grew up on the Tim Burton movie Beetlejuice so I hated that it was getting an adaptation bc I’m also just going through fatigue of every popular movie getting the broadway treatment but I won lottery tickets and fell so deeply in love you can tell the people who wrote it understood why the movie was so great
This is why I much prefer going to see shows with no exposure to them whatsoever, so I can experience everything as a full show before listening to the music. Shows like Come From Away, Into the Woods, Falsettos, Preludes, and Company where the songs, dialogue and direction are so intertwined to create the story really benefit from being experienced for the first time as a full production. I'm so lucky to have been able to see these shows this way!
@@reeselong4271 BroadwayHD has it along with many others :) you could subscribe for one month and then cancel and within that month just watch 294892 musical proshots
Same, I always thought Lin was kinda self-absorbed for making himself the lead when he himself said that acting wasn't his strong suit- and how the fandom kinda just disrespected history to some extent but now, *h o l y s h i t*
Mine was Waitress. I absolutely adore the show now and I can listen to the cast album and enjoy it but before I saw it I couldn't do that. I liked a couple of the songs before I saw it but it wasn't my favorite because I just didn't really get it, I understood that Jenna's situation was bad but the cast album for me has nowhere near the emotional impact that a live performance does. After I saw the show live I got that emotional impact and everything clicked I just connected with the show more and now it's one of my favorite shows.
Me too. I’m so sad because I will have access to Disney plus ONE WEEK BEFORE IT COMES OUT. And it comes out on my birthday. It’s the best and worst birthday present ever. I really wanted to see it so bad 😢.
Heathers!! Before I saw it I was like “uh sounds a bit overrated I wonder what it’s about” and so I asked multiple people who gave terrible summaries. Anyways I listened to the soundtrack and was beyond confused, so then I figured out it was a movie so I watched the movie and then it kind of made sense, and then I decided to watch some illegal b- Uhh I mean interesting slime tutorials and then I fell in love with it n I’m currently obsessing over it rn
Hamilton because I thought it was incredibly overrated, but when I saw it a few months ago I realized why so many people liked it.
Kyle Herrera I didn’t see it yet, but I listened to the soundtrack and I don’t dig it honestly
Kyle Herrera same! I saw it in February after bashing it for years and I loved it!
Ana _o for me I saw it but i think some of the songs are amazing and I listen to like every day. But for me there are too many I don’t like.
Same!
Same
I haven't been this early since Angelica was still reading Common Sence by Thomas Paine
I haven't been this early since Common Sense was spelled "Common Sence"
Haha
Wow it’s been a long time since i did...
This comment 🤣🤣🤣
So men say that I’m intense or I’m insane you want a revolution I want a revelation so listen to my declaration
Legally Blonde. I was convinced that no musical with a number titled "Omigod You Guys" could ever be decent. WAS I WRONG.
HAMILTON ON DISNEY PLUS GIRL HAVE YOU HEAAARRRD
Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh
Kazoos Anonymous IKR IM SO PUMPED
I AM PUMPED 🎉
hadestown. i saw it on a school trip and i thought i wouldn’t like it. it didn’t seem like my type of musical. but now it’s my favorite musical of all time
LUCKY! ON A SCHOOL TRIP??
So I’m not really into Hadestown, and today I did a masterclass with Mariah Rose Faith (Regina on the Mean Girls tour) and she said “I think you would sound great singing Flowers from Hadestown” and so she’s the only reason I’m gonna listen to it
i’ve seen her talk about those, it’s really cool that you were apart of her class
Mean girls
When I first heard they were making a mean girls the musical I actually thought it was just one of cash grabs
But then I heard the cast album and I thought on this is different and I don’t hate it
Then I saw a production of it and now I love it
Beetlejuice was so hyped up that I didn’t get on the bandwagon for the longest time. Then last month, I uh..., saw a slime tutorial of it, and now I am obsessed and love that show! RIP 😭🙌🏼🖤
Same :-((
This is my favorite and if you want.... you could use a buddy..💚🙂
mine tbh was Hamilton. i know what your thinking "hOw CoUlD yOu NoT lIkE hAmIlToN?!" and i agree with you. i thought it was HEAVELY overrated until i saw it on disney plus and was like "ok thats some good stuff right there"
Same! What's your favorite musical? Mines falsettos, i balled my eyes out after watched it
Same with me I hated it. Then I watched it. Then watched it again and again until I watched it 5 times in one night
I literally just finished listening to the cast album!
Kat somehow makes everything positive and that’s honestly the energy we need in the dumpster fire that is 2020
I was thinking I would be so bored by Anastasia and came out like “mOm CaN wE gO sEe AnAsTaSiA aGaIn?”
I HATED Hamilton because my friends WOULD NOT stop talking about it, but I watched it with them when it went onto Disney+.... and... IM OBSESSED WITH IT NOW
yesss you sound like one of my friends! She hates hamilton... :|
AYEE same! This girl at my dance school when I was in high school would never shut up about it and I just assumed it was overhyped... but it’s extremely good!
My friend hates hamilton too because i annoy her with it and she wont watch it on disney plus :/
One of my BFFs entire fam loves it but she refuses to watch it :(
I already commented but I actually have another one.
YES! I fricking love the lightning thief!
I am a band kid... BUT I HAVE BEEN BEING CONVERTED TO A MUSICAL THEATRE CHILD
You're so right about Big Fish, we did it at my high school this past year and when it was announced everyone was PISSED. No one wanted to do it and everyone was really upset, but by the end of it we were all absolutely in love with the show. It's truly something you need to experience, listening to it isn't quite enough.
Our high school did big fish last year and it was such an amazing experience and I just fell in love with the show.
OOTD-Finding Neverland
Spoiler:
Avenue Q? I mean who doesn't wanna see sesame street on crack?
Galla6her94 I love Avenue Q! I just think the show is much better in person than just listening to the cast recording 🧡
I had the backwards experience for Finding Neverland: I saw it and liked it a lot, but going back to the album I found it was kinda ordinary on its own.
There is just something about musicals that brings me great joy.
I still don't love the album recordings, but I now recognize it as a great live show
Every single time I watch it I cry when Eponine dies, it hurts me the same EVERYTIME😭💕
Caitlin Means I never saw Aida before
Let's spill this tea! And that musical for me was The Little Mermaid. I liked the music, but I didn't think it would translate well on stage. But then I saw the show and I loved it a lot!
You got that p0sitt0vity ❤
I HATED Six the musical because it felt like a musical theatre knock off of the Spice Girls, but then I saw filmed Megasix's and filmed live performances (not bootlegged) and fell in love with it. The energy and element of togetherness shown throughout every cast was incredible and I couldn't get the songs out of my head.
Definitely a show needed to be seen live.
honestly, same
Mean Girls. But now it’s one of my favorite shows, and aiming to get the role of Cady or Regina one day
I believe in you to reach your goal! and who knows once you do I could watch and possibly see you?? Dont ever give up on your dream!
Kats uploads are the only reason I know it’s Thursday
Okay, I'm binge watching your videos because as a semi-baby theatre kid I need the education and my friends aren't as into musicals as me and I just-
I love your videos so much.
Mine was Shrek The Musical. My school announced that this year's spring musical would be Shrek and I almost didn't audition. Then I actually watched the Broadway version on Netflix and realized how good it was. Now I am playing Princess Fiona this March!
How did it go??
I Hope well! i would love to play fiona! shes also in my voice range
@@ameliaarnette3370 it was so much fun! I loved the tap dance and all the songs, I'm not much of a belter though so it was a struggle to figure out how to make them work in my range lol 😂 definitely an amazing experience and I would so do it again if I could!!
i hated hamilton before i saw it bc i thought it was overrated and mEEEEN,,, I WAS HUMILIATED HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I BOW TO LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA NOW
i really thought i wouldn’t like phantom of the opera at all until i saw the 25th anniversary streamed,,, i take it all back
ME TOO!
I'm still not even sure why, but when they all started singing omigod you guys I just wept. anyways Laura Bell Bundy is gorgeous
the musical is > than the movie. There, I said it.
Mine has to be SpongeBob. A musical about SpongeBob just sounded so wrong, but then I watched it. It was perfection.
oooH SAME-
I was like "hold up- what- a musical about Spongebob? *laughs hysterically*"
When I heard the music I was like "i take back what I said, it's amazing"
QOTD: Urinetown. Never had any desire to listen to the soundtrack or see the show but when my friends dragged me to see it live I was laughing my ass off the entire time
100% hated the lion king. Hated the film, was convinced I’d hate the musical. Saw it at the West-End and cried the whole way through because it was so beautiful
Alexa Taylor Why did you hate the film? May I ask
Thranduil_Lannister Stark hmm I’m not really sure I just never got into it anytime I tried to watch it but honestly the musical is next level beautiful :)
Alexa Taylor was just about to comment this I absolutely agree! I also saw it in the west end and it was one of the most incredible things ever
How about "Musicals I loved... until I saw them"
cats the movie-
i definitely didn't think i would like come from away before i saw it just because of the description. then i saw it and it is now my favorite show. there is literally no other feeling than the one i got when i saw that show. now, it's my favorite cast recording. i don't know what it is about that show, but it gives me SO much serotonin???
Same
*slime tutoria
@@ryleemorrow6811 l*
Fun Fact: Big Fish (the movie) was filmed in the town I live in! So cool!
Alison Culpepper that’s awesome!!!
for me it was Matilda. I didn't like musicals when i went and saw this but when i saw it i fell in love with it.
For being wonderful!
six has amazing and super detailed costumes....
Three words: SPONGEBOB. THE. MUSICAL
This is weird but The Last 5 Years, I tried listening to it when I was much too young. And then I actually saw the movie version (which idk where the theater community stands on that one but I like it) and now it’s one of my favs
Kath: don't judge a show by it's album.
Me: * someone who has NEVER seen a musical because I live across the globe *:
I hope I can change this
Dear Evan Hansen meant nothing to me previous to when I saw it. I was never touched by the music and never connected to the characters. Saw it live and while it doesn't frequent my playlist it has a different place in my heart. I cried twice.
I never understood the hype behind this musical either, but if that was the case for you, I think I might be willing to give it a try!
I used to HATE legally blonde, and then I watched the bootleg and it’s my absolute favorite now
It's not a bootleg it's a proshot. At least if we're talking about the same version.
You know the drill:
1. Alexander Hamilton/ A.Burr
2. Christine Daae/Raoul/Erik
3. Lydia/ Beetlejuice
4. Simba/ NALA
5. King George/ AND PEGGY
6. Anne Boleyn/ King Henry the eighth
7. Sweeney Todd/ Mrs Lovett
8. That one ensemble member who is really super good
9. Eurydice/ Orpheus
0. Galinda/Fiyero
Alexander Hamilton
Eurydice!
Galinda :)
I’m seeing the drive in tour too!
I thought I was going to hate Cats.
Then I watched it.
Then I did hate it.
Same thing happened to me
Lmao the new movie or just the musical and old movies in general?
I fell asleep while watching it in New York
Mean girls Broadway is one I thought I would HATE, because I actually don’t really like the movie. But ended up LOVING it
I really thought I was gonna hate Legally Blonde! I judged it sooooo hard when it came out like “Ew Broadway THIS is what we’re doing now?” But it is undeniably solid and the pacing is incredible. The pacing is the best part of Legally Blonde
And then also Wicked.
The. Time
(Edit was multiple spelling corrections lol)
Girl, the entire musical theater community is just a Sondheim fan club by now
a movie musical i'm really looking foward to (more than deh, i admit) is merrily we roll along because ben platt and beanie feldstein are starring in it and they're filming it in REAL TIME WHICH IS SO COOL
MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG DESERVES BETTER.
I thought that I was going to hate Les Miserables, but then I was in love with it when I heard the I have a dream and on my own remix
Can you imagine actually watching a show live?
I've heard that it used to happen long ago but I think it's a myth.
What is live theater?
All musicals. I used to think musicals were for Eggheads. I have since changed my ways all thanks to Hamilton, be more chill, and cats.
SAME! but beetlejuice and six instead of cats- oop!
Felt the same till we watched Les Mis on Broadway for a band trip, now I’m obsessed lol
I grew up on the Tim Burton movie Beetlejuice so I hated that it was getting an adaptation bc I’m also just going through fatigue of every popular movie getting the broadway treatment but I won lottery tickets and fell so deeply in love you can tell the people who wrote it understood why the movie was so great
people will most likely get mad at me for this but i never got into Hamilton until it got on Disney+ so now I totally get the hype
Falsettos. I though it was weird and and confusing and didn’t like it until I watched the proshot and fell in love with it
where can you find the proshot??
@@reeselong4271 BroadwayHD has it along with many others :) you could subscribe for one month and then cancel and within that month just watch 294892 musical proshots
I thought I was gonna hate Matilda because I did not enjoy reading the book at all, but when I saw it, it became my favourite!!
I hated Hamilton, but then saw it live and then on Disney+ and now I LOVE it!!!!!!
Same, I always thought Lin was kinda self-absorbed for making himself the lead when he himself said that acting wasn't his strong suit- and how the fandom kinda just disrespected history to some extent but now,
*h o l y s h i t*
I know right!?! Lol
HAMILTON IS COMING TO DISNEY PLUS JULY 3RD!!!!!! I SCREAMED WHEN I HEARD!
OH MY GOD YESSSS!!!!
I KNOW!! :D
**My 2020 sanity has returned**
Me too. I’m so sad because I will have access to Disney plus ONE WEEK BEFORE IT COMES OUT. And it comes out on my birthday. It’s the best and worst birthday present ever. I really wanted to see it so bad 😢.
YESSSSSSS I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!
I meant slime tutorials my bad!! I totally didn’t mean “Mean girls but it’s (1989)”
* whispers * Your welcome!!
