I was literally just: "when's Kat gonna mention Bare: A Popera?" For the majority of the video and I was saving the soundtracks to almost all of the ones you mentioned. Another awesome one you probably haven't heard of is 'Thrill Me'. It has an absolutely GORGEOUS score and it follows the story of Leopold and Lobe who were marked by history as 'The Thrill Killers'. It's amazingly accurate and the vocals are killer. Another of my favorites is '36 Questions'. I don't know if this counts but it's a musical podcast so there is no visual components telling the story and the whole thing is told through these songs. It's the only musical I've heard of that's made like this and I listen to it all the time.

My favorite musicals are always “not underrated but under appreciated“, like it’s not on the same level as Hamilton or Dear Evan Hansen in terms of popularity but you could find them on “what your favorite musical says about you” instagram posts, think Something Rotten and Anastasia.
YES. like that is a perfect description: some others include tuck everlasting, spring awakening (i think it isnt appreciated enough) and bonnie and clyde

I don't think I would compare the two that directly. In the Heights predates Hamilton by ten years, so it's not a case of one stealing the other's thunder. It's just that they've each had their day, in their own time. Yes, Hamilton reaches a wider audience, but not to In the Heights' detriment.

Hi, I'm from germany and even Musicals like 'Dear Evan Hansen' or 'Heathers' are not so well known around here and you introducing me to 'Bare' ruined my life (just kidding) 😅 I love the show but no one knows it and a lot of my friends are not into musical theater. I also discovered Six: The Musical last week and I'm obsessed with it. I'm trying to get my friends from my choir to listen to it. Thank you for your videos. 💖
QOTD: I think the musical Starry needs more recognition. It is very new and indie, but is an amazing show! It’s about Vincent Van Gogh and his brother. I have been following it for a long time, and it deserves so much recognition💙💛💙
I haven’t listened to it but I have read the book (or heard someone read the book) so I might listen to it. From what I am getting it is a really good musical so I am probably gonna try it soon.
My favorite underrated shows: Jekyll and Hyde Titanic Bandstand Ghost Little Women Edit: CATCH ME IF YOU CAN ((Aaron Tveit 😍 *swoons*) They all deserved better 😭
Idk if this one counts as an underrated musical.. but in my opinion it is- Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812, is my favorite musical by far, again, I don't know if it counts, but it really, really needs more love :)! (Edit: omg, Assasins and Ghost quartet are also great, love them)
Agreed! Was looking for this one! I love this show so much, it's quickly climbed to the top of my favorites list, and Dave Malloy has as well, though I have yet to listen to his other stuff. It's changed the way I look at theater and staging, with its immersive style, which obviously I knew before was possible, but never really considered to be nearly as incredible as it is. I'm in love with it and it's made me fall in love with theater again and yet, though I feel like most people know of it (at least in the theater world), not as many know it well. I know that's how I was until maybe a month or so ago and I'll never be the same now haha
The Wild Party by Michael John LaChiusa, The Burnt Part Boys, Tuck Everlasting, Glory Days, Merrily We Roll Along, First Date, Assassins, Passing Strange, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Bare: A Pop Opera, Caroline or Change (maybe not as much now since there's a Broadway revival happening).
I was supposed to be in Tuck before this whole this started. I was Old Winnie in the Story of Winnie Foster. But that show is just so well known in my theatre community that I forget that it’s underrated
Im actually writing a musical at the moment (its not that great) but the whole premise is a girl in highschool and it discusses the darker things that happen once you hit highschool (such as anorexia, depression, etc) I was writing the lyrics to a song called "Gossip Gals" when this was uploaded.
Omgg sounds cool! I want more dark, set in highschool/have teens musicals that aren't Heathers, Carrie or Bonnie and Clyde (because I already love those musicals)
Ok, Finding Neverland is literally my favourite show ever and no one ever talks about it, the song when your feet don't touch the ground is absolutely beautiful and Matthew Morrison (Even though everyone is slightly scared of him from Glee) is amazing in it. All of the duets are beautiful and, despite all of the Tony drama because of Harvey Weinstein, it deserves so much more because it is a beautiful show with some true bops in it.
Randomness Vlogs i saw Finding Neverland and it’s so heartwarming and inspiring and it’s really an amazing show overall. if definitely deserves more love.
i was lucky enough to be in a production of Tuck Everlasting this year. after diving really deeply into it and being able to sharing it’s story i 100% think it’s very very underrated and closed way too soon. the people who came to our show were so touched and it just moves people in a way like no other show could. please if you haven’t go listen to it and explore it’s message, it is spectacular.
ally bouska i was in a production of Tuck last fall too, and i wholeheartedly agree with everything you said! the story is so touching and moving and poignant (the audience was in tears every night), and the score is the absolute best. way too underrated!
I got to see my community theater perform is a few years ago. It was so good! I will say, I cried. It is definitely underrated! Fun fact: I live in the same city that Nathan Tyson grew up in and have met him! 😊
Wonderland! Hell yes! The literal only reason I even saw the North American tour of Love Never Dies is because the person who played the Queen of Hearts was playing Madame Giry.
I don’t know if this is really underrated but I feel like I don’t really hear much about the broadway adaption of Anastasia. I enjoyed the movie but it was dragged down by 90’s Disney tropes a lot imo and the musical removes most of them. Plus the new songs are really excellent
idk if its underrated, but it deserved a wave of love nowadays, today i cried listening to the first half,, and i am not latino, not american, i have no way of relating do it. but it just hit me right in there
gosh dont mention it,, i stopped right before Alabanza, at Atencion, and then i accidentally did not stop and heard juuuuust the beginning of Alabanza,, and now im even more scared to listen to the ther half of the show because it starts with Alabanza HAA edit i did not listen to Atencion,, they also say what happened to Abuela,, well now ig i can listen to all of it hahahaha
I recently found a musical that I really like, "Bonnie and Clyde" the soundtrack is literally the only thing I have been listening to the past couple days and I love it! It definitely deserves more attention and is underappreciated.
Countrydiva524 I don’t think Matilda or Something Rotten are underrated (they get a lot of hype), but those are both amazing musicals. I really wanted to play Matilda on Broadway when I was 10 and it was the musical that got me into musicals.
@@ForeverEva from my experience Matilda is extreamly underrated. I was on a musicals subreddit and mentioned I had auditioned for the west end version. A hell of a lot of people were commenting that they didn't even realise Matilda was a musical. Some people even thought it was based off the movie. Only about three people had actually heard of it. It was really popular in like 2010 - 2014 but after Hamilton and dear evan Hanson hit it kinda fell into the back ground.
My favorite underrated musicals: - Baker's Wife (Erika Henningson singing Meadowlark is amazing) - Working (pretty obscure and depressing and very real) - Daddy Long Legs (it's literally two people, a cello, a piano, and a guitar) - The Mystery of Edwin Drood (the audience picks the ending) - Pippin (very weird, cool message, fun songs) And these are some of my favorite underrated straight plays, because for some reason theatre people forget that straight plays exist. - Elephant's Graveyard (they hang an elephant. It's depressing) - Metamorphoses (Greek stories in a real-life pool) - Murder Mystery at the Murder Mystery (super meta play-within-a-play-within-a-play) - The Importance of Being Earnest (simple yet witty British comedy)
OMG DADDLY LONG LEGS!!!! ANOTHER PERSON KNOWS IT BESIDE ME AND MY FRIEND, WHO RECOMMENDED IT TO ME! (Daddy Long Legs is the type of musical that makes you want to write letters to some unknown gentleman or soemthing, IT SO GOOD!!!)
THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes! At least some one knows about it. My school tried to do it, but it got cancelled because of the corona virus.
I prefer An Ideal Husband from Oscar Wilde, but when I say that in real life (and probably here), it comes off as pretentious. The stakes are higher, but it's just as funny.
Catch Me If You Can is such an unexpected bop. like the whole soundtrack high-key slaps. (I'm doing it at my school, and we don't know if it will still happen lol)
It's been done a few times the latest in 2015 at a Children's Theatre and there's even a cast recording and some audios available. But a full Broadway production would be really cool.
Of course, my favorite is The Drowsy Chaperone. It's both a critique and homage to 1920s Broadway presented through the form of a musical within a musical written by two theater geeks. I was first introduced when our school was putting on a production and I auditioned for the Man in the Chair and I instantly fell in love. When I watched the show on UA-cam I let out a few chuckles because it was that damn good. It's a remarkable work that I would kill to see live performed by a group of professional actors.
My small list of underated musicals 1. Falsettos - I love this show with a passion but everytime I mention to anyone they'll ask what it is or say they've heard of it but haven't listened to it 2. The Scarlet Pimpernel - There are very few fans of this, it's a really good listen though and the song "The Riddle" has been stuck in my head for ages. 3. Spies are forever - there's a proshot by the people who made on youtube for free. They are really good at hiding the plot twist, I was spoiled for the twist and I was starting to think it was gonna happen. Plus it's a musical about spies.
To me, its "The Last Five Years", hands down. Caveats: I watched the movie version, and literally adore Anna Kendrick. So, there are my 'biases'. Full-stop. But the music and storytelling is just.... ridiculously incredible. "I Can Do Better Than That" is my low-key theme song... when I need a pick-me-up.
Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder are two of my absolute all-time favorite musicals (perhaps I just like wordy titles? 😄) and neither is talked about enough! I was lucky enough to see both of them on Broadway myself, and both were unforgettable. ESPECIALLY The Great Comet! I can understand why its rather underrated, as the soundtrack on its own is nothing compared to being in that theatre yourself. We got stage table seats for my mom's birthday, and the experience of clinking shot glasses with Natasha, having the actors so close I could reach out and touch them, and taking home a box of souvenirs including a drawing of a woman with bear arms, an egg maraca, 7 pages of War and Peace and a pierogi was certainly the most unique theatre experience I've ever had. Its a shame it left Broadway so soon, it was magical.
omg i adore both of those shows!! i mean they're both off-broadway so that's probs why they're not on the list but yes!!! gq is weird but amazing and dll is so lovely and sweet!!
I've only ever seen Twisted and Firebringer (THE DUCK IS LOOOOOORRRRRRDDD) but I'm planning on watching Trail to Oregon, TGWDLM, AVPM, AVPS, AVPSY, and Holy Musical B@man
Wait, you're telling me there's a musical about Lizzie Borden AND I'VE NEVER LISTENED TO IT???? Also, they do Assasins in The Politician so you get to hear Ben Platt sing some from it.
Theatre Kid I’ve listened to Cecily Smith when it’s sung by Will Connolly - I prefer it to the original, really. I still haven’t got round to listening to it in full but I’ve heard a couple more of the songs and they sound great
An underreatead musical that i think it deserves more love: THE MAD ONES It's recently but it's so fucking amazing, it tells the story about a girl who lost her best friend in a car accident, the show treats issues like lost, insecurities, fear of grow up, AND THE SONGS ARE JUST FANTASTIC, i really reccomend it, you'll laugh, cry and maybe think a little about if you wanna take risks in life
@ Nicole Lorrayne it’s this digital version of Alice in Wonderland. It’s so weird but the soundtrack is so unique and strange. My favorite song from it is Man of Broken Glass. If it’s that musical than wow, I can’t believe a school did it, Props to you
I *LOVE* BARE!!! I was performing at the Edinburgh fringe festival in 2018 when I saw it was on and I screamed because of how much you had recommended it. I was actually late to the show because I couldn't find the venue and I missed the first song but I was immediately captivated. It was such a small venue but the cast was incredible and I talked to them afterwards and I've been obsessed ever since! Thank you so so much Kat!!!!
Omg I LOVE Spitfire Grill! I was actually going to audition with When Hope Goes before the show I would’ve used it for got postponed until next season. But also: STARRY!!!!! It hasn’t been produced yet, but the concept album is available. It’s a pop-rock show about Vincent Van Gogh & his brother, Theo. It cites a lot of the letters that his sister in law, Jo Bonger, published after his death. A lot of people with ties to Starkid are involved: Dylan Saunders as Vincent, and Mariah Rose Faith as Jo Bonger, in particular. It is BEAUTIFUL and heartbreaking, and I pray it actually gets produced one day it’s my emotional support show. I cannot recommend it’s enough to listen PLEASE
Musicals that I personally think need more attention: -Carrie (the original Broadway production from the 80s) -Something Rotten -Twisted -Trail to Oregon -Falsettos -Legally Blonde (I know it’s well known it just doesn’t seem as popular anymore) -Head Over Heels -We Will Rock You -Elf the Musical -Seussical -Bye Bye Birdie -The Hunchback of Notre Dame
I love tuck everlasting! I saw it a few years ago and fell in love! It has such a great story and I love the songs! The ending that’s just dancing and music always makes me cry!💚
Im so glad you mentioned Songs For A New World !! I discovered that musical since we performed a few songs from it for our theater summer camp, and loved it since then!
Thank you SOOOO much for mentioning Little Women!!!! Jo is a Dream role!!! 1. I feel that ANY and All Wildhorn is so underrated especially The Scarlett Pimpernel and Dracula. Most people just know Jekyll and Hyde. 2. Notre Dame de Paris (an amazing version of the Hunchback story!!) 3. Violet - beautiful score! 4. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Superman! - really funny tongue in cheek musical about Superman 5. CHESS!!!!
Some of my favorite underrated scores include: Finding Neverland, Spongebob, Tuck Everlasting, and Hunchback of Notre Dame!💚 Thanks for the recommendations Kath!! I've been looking for some new stuff to listen to.
Underrated broadway musical: Bandstand!! (Let’s get a revival already you cowards!) Underrated off-broadway musical: Venice!! (Let’s get this on Broadway already you cowards 😂)
i never got to see bandstand on broadway, but i saw the recorded version in theaters and oh my gosh. the final version of welcome home still takes my breath away and makes me sob like a baby.
Lizzy not Bennet Bandstand is on tour right now. Well, it was before this virus halted everything. I saw it here in FL a couple months ago. It’s amazing!

@The Glitter Mermaid Das finde ich immer so frustrierend! Dear Evan Hansen ist so gut und in Deutschland wird dem noch nicht mal eine chance gegeben
Am schlimmsten ist, dass sie hamilton übersetzten wollen
Ahahah try being a musical theatre fan in Central Asia lol. People have barely any idea what musical theatre is around here
QOTD: I think the musical Starry needs more recognition. It is very new and indie, but is an amazing show! It’s about Vincent Van Gogh and his brother. I have been following it for a long time, and it deserves so much recognition💙💛💙
Ahhh I love starry! The music almost makes paintings in your mind it's so lovely :)
Starry! I love Starry, too!! And it's so cool that they incorporate the titles of the paintings into the lyrics.
I LITERALLY JUST LISTENED TO THE ENTIRE ALBUM TODAY, YES!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌌⭐
YES! For any Starkid fans out there, Dylan Saunders and Lauren Lopez are in the cast so please try it out
OML ANOTHER STARRY FAN AHHH
Quarantine:Exists
Katherine Steele: We can fix this
Wow i can't believe that Katherine is going to cure Covid-19 through the power of musicals
@@misssupercookie2011 It is possible, this is part of the cure :)
Tuck Everlasting deserves so much more
YASSSSSS it's my favorite!
I swear I was just looking for a comment like that. It's such a wonderful show that deserved better than a month on Broadway
i cannot believe it had such a short run i love it so much
I’m in a production of Tuck right now and it’s postponed currently because of COVID-19
I haven’t listened to it but I have read the book (or heard someone read the book) so I might listen to it.
From what I am getting it is a really good musical so I am probably gonna try it soon.
My favorite underrated shows:
Jekyll and Hyde
Titanic
Bandstand
Ghost
Little Women
Edit: CATCH ME IF YOU CAN ((Aaron Tveit 😍 *swoons*)
They all deserved better 😭
OMG GHOST!!! YAAASSSS!!! IT DESERVES BETTER!
Speaking of Aaron Tveit y'all should listen to Next to Normal!! Very good show, though a bit heavy
Olive oil I love Next to Normal!!! I totally forgot about it!
Jekyll and Hyde and Titianic!!! Yes!!
i was waiting to see jekyll and hyde! it's my favorite musical 💗
Nobody talks about She Loves Me (specifically the 2016 revival) and it makes me sad because its one of my favorites!
Idk if this one counts as an underrated musical.. but in my opinion it is-
Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812, is my favorite musical by far, again, I don't know if it counts, but it really, really needs more love :)!
(Edit: omg, Assasins and Ghost quartet are also great, love them)
Same! I was so surprised there wasn't anyone talking about Dave Malloy's stuff! It's absolute genius.
@@celestelalianna7276 Ikr! he's a musical genius, and I think TGC showed us that, god, he deserves better
Adam Fox tuck needs to be talked about more, it’s absolutely beautiful
I was supposed to be in Tuck before this whole this started. I was Old Winnie in the Story of Winnie Foster. But that show is just so well known in my theatre community that I forget that it’s underrated
Do you mean Bare: a Popera
SPELLING BEE THIS IS THE BEST LIST
Yesss Burnt Part Boys a
Im actually writing a musical at the moment (its not that great) but the whole premise is a girl in highschool and it discusses the darker things that happen once you hit highschool (such as anorexia, depression, etc)
I was writing the lyrics to a song called "Gossip Gals" when this was uploaded.
Sounds interesting! Wishing you the best with this project! I l also love the name of that song. 💛
It would be so cool if you posted your progress!!
Pretty Good Gacha that’s awesome! Update us
Omgg sounds cool! I want more dark, set in highschool/have teens musicals that aren't Heathers, Carrie or Bonnie and Clyde (because I already love those musicals)
same!! Different topic, but I’m also writing a musical! I wish you luck
I think "Natasha and Pierre and the great comet of 1812" is underrated. I love it so mutch😍
Falsettos and In Trousers are some of the most underrated musicals honestly.
Falsettos isn’t underrated but In Trousers definitely is.
QOTD:I feel like Matilda is super popular on the West end, but Broadway Matilda needs more love! I love Matilda!
I completely agree my school is hopefully still gonna put on a production of it this year. It’s such a good show.
Matilda Broadway is how I discovered Lesli Margarita(The mother) and now I’m obsessed with her
It was awesome when I saw it.
@@Countrydiva524 it was so amazing I saw it a few years ago
Yessss Milly, Bailey, Oona and Sophia were so good
Ok, Finding Neverland is literally my favourite show ever and no one ever talks about it, the song when your feet don't touch the ground is absolutely beautiful and Matthew Morrison (Even though everyone is slightly scared of him from Glee) is amazing in it. All of the duets are beautiful and, despite all of the Tony drama because of Harvey Weinstein, it deserves so much more because it is a beautiful show with some true bops in it.
My favorite song in Finding Neverland is probably Play or All of London is Here Tonight 🤣
When your feet don’t touch the ground is one of my top broadway songs of all time
My friend went and saw that and bought me a tshirt!!
I just commented that!! It was the first show I saw and it was amazing!!
Randomness Vlogs i saw Finding Neverland and it’s so heartwarming and inspiring and it’s really an amazing show overall. if definitely deserves more love.
this one probably isn’t very underrated but... SPIES ARE FOREVERRRR
I love the opening number!
Alex Horowitz omg I am trash for spies are forever!! Mary Kate Wiles can just take all my money already she’s my queen 😍
I KNOOOWWWW ITS THE BEST
SPIES ARE FOREVER ITS A MUSICAL, ITS ABOUT SPIES!!!
ITS A MUSICAL ITS ABOUT SPIES
And any tcb or starkid
The lightning thief musical is phenomenal!!!! It’s soooo good and the songs are so catchy and it’s amazing
A underrated musical I enjoy is Tuck Everlasting which is based off the book of the same name. I highly recommend it!
The last time I was this early was when Beetlejuice was still on Broadway :(
@• Q u i n n • true
Noooo
Ahhh why’d you say that😭😭
i was lucky enough to be in a production of Tuck Everlasting this year. after diving really deeply into it and being able to sharing it’s story i 100% think it’s very very underrated and closed way too soon. the people who came to our show were so touched and it just moves people in a way like no other show could. please if you haven’t go listen to it and explore it’s message, it is spectacular.
ally bouska i was in a production of Tuck last fall too, and i wholeheartedly agree with everything you said! the story is so touching and moving and poignant (the audience was in tears every night), and the score is the absolute best. way too underrated!
I got to see my community theater perform is a few years ago. It was so good! I will say, I cried. It is definitely underrated!
Fun fact: I live in the same city that Nathan Tyson grew up in and have met him! 😊
“what is that?”- Kat’s father. This is *always* my father with broadway shows
I don't know if it's popular or not but Natasha and Pierre the great comet of 1812 is one of my favourite
Same
Do any of you have the bootleg for the one with Philippa Soo?
Underrated: Wonderland the Musical? Anyone?
Yes, love the show! The Cheshire Cat is hilarious.
Wonderland!
Sequitur I agree but Anastasia isn’t Disney (even tho it’s technically Disney now because Disney bought Fox lol)x
Sequitur The stage version blows the movie out of the water big time!
Anastasia has such an incredible soundtrack!
I don’t think it’s underrated, but one of the musicals I love is “In The Heights”. I mention this only because this is the musical I always dance to.
SaM MM I would say In the Heights is decently popular, but is definitely too outshined by its younger brother and under appreciated.
idk if its underrated, but it deserved a wave of love nowadays, today
i cried listening to the first half,, and i am not latino, not american, i have no way of relating do it. but it just hit me right in there
gosh dont mention it,, i stopped right before Alabanza, at Atencion, and then i accidentally did not stop and heard juuuuust the beginning of Alabanza,, and now im even more scared to listen to the ther half of the show because it starts with Alabanza
HAA
edit i did not listen to Atencion,, they also say what happened to Abuela,, well now ig i can listen to all of it hahahaha
Yeah, that won a tony for best musical. it's nowhere close to being on this list.
In the heights is by far my favourite musical
I recently found a musical that I really like, "Bonnie and Clyde" the soundtrack is literally the only thing I have been listening to the past couple days and I love it! It definitely deserves more attention and is underappreciated.
Sasha Mendelson omg I saw that musical and it was outstanding me and my friend fell in love after watching
Sasha Mendelson I LOVE BONNIE AND CLYDE AHH
The fact that is was only on Broadway for literally one month makes me so sad 😭
YES YES YES
Honestly “Something Rotten” is just a good time. Never hear people talk about it but the show deserves it.
I really liked " The Bodyguard " , " Something Rotten" , " Matilda" and "Motown"
Matilda is VERY overrated. It's awesome though.
My favorite underrated musicals:
- Baker's Wife (Erika Henningson singing Meadowlark is amazing)
- Working (pretty obscure and depressing and very real)
- Daddy Long Legs (it's literally two people, a cello, a piano, and a guitar)
- The Mystery of Edwin Drood (the audience picks the ending)
- Pippin (very weird, cool message, fun songs)
And these are some of my favorite underrated straight plays, because for some reason theatre people forget that straight plays exist.
- Elephant's Graveyard (they hang an elephant. It's depressing)
- Metamorphoses (Greek stories in a real-life pool)
- Murder Mystery at the Murder Mystery (super meta play-within-a-play-within-a-play)
- The Importance of Being Earnest (simple yet witty British comedy)
OMG DADDLY LONG LEGS!!!! ANOTHER PERSON KNOWS IT BESIDE ME AND MY FRIEND, WHO RECOMMENDED IT TO ME! (Daddy Long Legs is the type of musical that makes you want to write letters to some unknown gentleman or soemthing, IT SO GOOD!!!)
My sister did The Murder Mystery at the Murder Mystery and it was hilarious! She played Scarlet!
THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes! At least some one knows about it. My school tried to do it, but it got cancelled because of the corona virus.
I love Daddy Long Legs with a burning passion!!! So few people know about it and it needs and deserves all the love in the world!!
I just finished being Hanratty and I completely agree. The story isn’t that great but the music is great and it’ll always have a place in my heart :)
I don’t know if I’m the only one who needs this but, Coraline the musical. Also cast me in it. Please.
Oh yes, the set designs would be SO SO cool. And I'd love to see the songs they come up with
This happened in 2009
YES PLEASE NOW. I NEED THIS
I can see it being similar to beetlejuice but also soooo unique
FINALLY!!! “Lizzie” is getting some love!!! Aaaaa “Lizzie” means so much to me, it’s probably my favorite :)) it’s helped me cope with a lot.
My sister asked if Lin Manuel Miranda was the guy who played Iron Man😭I nearly cried😂😂😂😂
Keeping Up With The Crisins LOL
😂That was my last obsession before Musicals
Lmfao
Me: “thinks about tuck everlasting”
“If you are dying to play carrie-“
Me: YES
My small list of underated musicals
1. Falsettos - I love this show with a passion but everytime I mention to anyone they'll ask what it is or say they've heard of it but haven't listened to it
Hunchback is sooo underrated and I did it and it's such a good musical that should be on broadway
Makaylas Voice Acting and Vlogs i was just about to comment about hunchback! it’s SO GOOD 🤩
LOVE HUNCHBACK! It's one of the most underrated Disney movies too!

The most underrated musical has got to be Something Rotten! Just love that one!
Underrated musicals on my list: Chess and Dogfight! Chess is literally one of my all time favorite musicals!
YES YES YES I LOVE CHESS
100% Chess. Such an amazing soundtrack!
I haven’t watched, but if Tuck Everlasting isn’t mentioned
unfortunately it’s not, but like all the comments (including mine) mention it sooo
I just listened to tuck everlasting today and I am in love
@@luxisims391 I started listening it to it yesterday, and I love it so much!
I LOVE TUCK EVERLASTING SO MUCH
Grace Casselman ME TOO
I don’t know if this counts as underrated but I like Avenue Q. I find the soundtrack nice and a bit edgy of course
@Awesomesauce55556 Avenue Q and Urinetown were the first two I thought of
i love Avenue Q
I am currently obsessed with that musical
I love Avenue Q!
Two really good musicals that were not here: Ghost quartet and Daddy Long Legs
Yugoslavioni Art I LOVE Daddy long legs
Daddy Long Legs is fantabulicious
omg i adore both of those shows!! i mean they're both off-broadway so that's probs why they're not on the list but yes!!! gq is weird but amazing and dll is so lovely and sweet!!
YES ghost quartet is awesome!!
Also in the Merrily We Roll Along movie they're making, Beanie Feldstein is playing the character her character played in Lady Bird
Nobody talks about how perfect and incredible every aspect of the Spongebob Squarepants Musical is
Starkid musicals are really good! Not enough people know them!
yesssss, trail to oregan is my fave (and ofc i love avpm)
I've only ever seen Twisted and Firebringer (THE DUCK IS LOOOOOORRRRRRDDD) but I'm planning on watching Trail to Oregon, TGWDLM, AVPM, AVPS, AVPSY, and Holy Musical B@man
Grace Wilbourn The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals and Black Friday are really good too!!

Underated musicals for me:

I just listened to Lizzie and OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU FOR INTRODUCING THIS TO ME. It’s one of the best thing I’ve possibly ever heard!
ditto, just added this to my playlist. thanks cult leader Kat
Wait, you're telling me there's a musical about Lizzie Borden AND I'VE NEVER LISTENED TO IT???? Also, they do Assasins in The Politician so you get to hear Ben Platt sing some from it.
Most underrated ever: Fly by Night. Everyone knows "Cecily Smith" but no one knows the better songs.
Theatre Kid yes!! i was waiting to find this comment
Theatre Kid I’ve listened to Cecily Smith when it’s sung by Will Connolly - I prefer it to the original, really. I still haven’t got round to listening to it in full but I’ve heard a couple more of the songs and they sound great

I absolutely love how much you mention Bare: A pop opera. I love that show so much and it is so underrated.
I don’t know if this counts as underrated, but Hadestown needs more love!
All the way from London? DaMN ! Fr like yes it won a lot of Tony’s but a lot of people underestimate the musical and the cast (esp reeve and Andre)
I love your username lol

An underreatead musical that i think it deserves more love: THE MAD ONES
It's recently but it's so fucking amazing, it tells the story about a girl who lost her best friend in a car accident, the show treats issues like lost, insecurities, fear of grow up, AND THE SONGS ARE JUST FANTASTIC, i really reccomend it, you'll laugh, cry and maybe think a little about if you wanna take risks in life

Ani (The Starkid Star Wars parody) has very great writing
YES OMG ANI!! I just watched it it's inCrEDiBle and every scene is iconic
ANI is the honest to God one of the most funny shows ever. That and the solve it squad are hella underrated
Solve👏it👏squad👏
I also love that it's a one act, like people should write more one acts
Brian’s scene where it’s just him shows he deserves more credit
Ok, so I’m going obsessed with this musical called “Wonder.land”. Had anyone heard of it? Am I alone?!?
omg I did that show a few years ago! (i hope we're talking about the same show lol)
Love that show!!
Love it
@ Nicole Lorrayne it’s this digital version of Alice in Wonderland. It’s so weird but the soundtrack is so unique and strange. My favorite song from it is Man of Broken Glass. If it’s that musical than wow, I can’t believe a school did it, Props to you
Guys thx GOD I’m not alone😅
Time to go binge all of these musicals songs now
Musicals that I personally think need more attention:
-Carrie (the original Broadway production from the 80s)
-Something Rotten
-Twisted
-Trail to Oregon
-Falsettos
-Legally Blonde (I know it’s well known it just doesn’t seem as popular anymore)
-Head Over Heels
-We Will Rock You
-Elf the Musical
-Seussical
-Bye Bye Birdie
-The Hunchback of Notre Dame
My favourite underrated musical is Tuck Everlasting, the song 'Time' makes me cry every time😰

Elicia Sacco I had chills! Honestly one of the best shows I’ve ever seen! The whole thing was a masterpiece
YESSSSSS. I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO THE CAST ALBUM SINCE IT RELEASED. NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS IS MY FAVORITE
I love tuck everlasting! I saw it a few years ago and fell in love! It has such a great story and I love the songs! The ending that’s just dancing and music always makes me cry!💚
I think The off-broadway “Clueless” musical was pretty underrated
Is there a cast recording for clueless and if so where? I can't find it anywhere...
Ally H sadly I don’t think so :( sorry I couldn’t help
Im so glad you mentioned Songs For A New World !! I discovered that musical since we performed a few songs from it for our theater summer camp, and loved it since then!
Thank you SOOOO much for mentioning Little Women!!!! Jo is a Dream role!!!
1. I feel that ANY and All Wildhorn is so underrated especially The Scarlett Pimpernel and Dracula. Most people just know Jekyll and Hyde.
2. Notre Dame de Paris (an amazing version of the Hunchback story!!)
3. Violet - beautiful score!
4. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Superman!
- really funny tongue in cheek musical about Superman
5. CHESS!!!!
I only know Jekyll and Hyde when it comes to wildhorn shows
Some of my favorite underrated scores include: Finding Neverland, Spongebob, Tuck Everlasting, and Hunchback of Notre Dame!💚 Thanks for the recommendations Kath!! I've been looking for some new stuff to listen to.

Underrated broadway musical: Bandstand!! (Let’s get a revival already you cowards!)
Underrated off-broadway musical: Venice!! (Let’s get this on Broadway already you cowards 😂)
Omg yes Venice!
Lol bandstand was on broadway like three years ago, a revival is far away I would bet. At least we have a pro shoot!
i never got to see bandstand on broadway, but i saw the recorded version in theaters and oh my gosh. the final version of welcome home still takes my breath away and makes me sob like a baby.
Lizzy not Bennet Bandstand is on tour right now. Well, it was before this virus halted everything. I saw it here in FL a couple months ago. It’s amazing!
Jane Eyre. It's one of my favorite books and the musical is so beautiful.
omg i played jo last year, so hearing you say "little women" made my heart warm. also!!! highly recommend 35mm!! that cast is stacked to say the least and every song is a banger.
