When she said A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder I was like "I'm in that!" Then realized that I actually didn't get to perform it because of the, say it with me, Coronavirus. Hahahahaha.... Imma cry now
I’m obsessed with “& Juliet”, “Come From Away” and “Mean Girls” currently, but I’m basically listening to every musical soundtrack that I can find on Apple Music and binge watching your videos. after my falsettos phase (which is still going) i've recently gotten really into natasha, pierre and the great comet of 1812 (also robbed, like falsettos, at the 2017 tonys) and also dave malloy's other musicals, ghost quartet in particular, are fantastic!
i fell back into my The Great Comet obsession, and i am kicking myself that i've never really recommended it to anybody cause there are SO many great musicals that have kinda butted in between Great Comet. i think an old favorite musical you've haven't listened to in a while is great right at this moment.
I’m currently obsessed with Beetlejuice. I had no interest in it but then BAM! CORONA! So I listened to it and watched a couple COMPLETELY LEGAL videos of it and now I want to be Sky/Lydia understandy in the national tour and I’m crying over it closing even though I didn’t care about until two weeks ago. So, yeah.
Dude, same. I was supposed to see Beetlejuice with my sister on the DAY they shutdown Broadway... if only I had gotten tickets to the matinee instead of the 8pm show.
Something Rotten is my favorite musical and I wish more people talked about it!! Everything from the music, to the choreography, to the humor, it’s just so incredible. I feel like it would be a great one to get people’s minds off of all the craziness right now.
Preach!!! SR has been one of my favorite shows for a few years now and it’s still very underrated- which i don’t understand at all lmao. everything about it is just so well done!
I’m listening to Carrie, Tuck Everlasting, Moulin Rouge, Xanadu, Something Rotten and Come from away. But I’m geeking out to 13 and School of Rock right now. Quarantine is giving me WAYYYY to much time to geek to broadway show tunes...
One of my first musicals I've seen is 'the guy who didn't like musicals' it's still one of my favorites and I feel like people don't know/talk about it enough
I remember when I fell in love with musicals when I came across The Campfire Song from The Lightning Thief: The Musical. I loved Greek mythology back then and never read the books but the song was really catchy and made me even buy the books! Never thought I would be in love with musicals since I was young. I thought they were boring and just unusual, I’ve had people who’d always ask want my dream career was, and I really didn’t know, I didn’t have a subject I’d ever like. I discovered this musical about a year ago and I’m still discovering new musicals! I’ve seen many people who had discovered the love of musicals from The Lightning Thief, so I really recommend this for starters! :>
Hey Kat how are you doing, and is there anything we can do for you? Also BONNIE AND CLYDE IS VERY UNDERRATED AND I LOVE IT!!! CAN WE GET A REVIVAL PLEASE 😂

QOTD: I just listened to Bare for the second time yesterday and it’s so weird because I listened to it last summer and I liked it, but I didn’t cry oddly. Now, months later, I listened to it, and IT👏HITS👏DIFFERENT👏 Quiet night at home and Once upon a time had me in tears! Now I can’t stop singing songs from Bare and I love it! Thank you for introducing me to my favorite Popera!
I've been currently obssessed with Lizzie since you recommended it last time! I love every song, and I didn't knew anything about the story before listening, but it's honestly fascinating! Also I've been really into The last five years lately, I just love the double storytelling they pulled out with that one!
This is definitely on the obscure side, but I really recommend Honeymoon in Vegas! The music is by Jason Robert Brown and I cant believe it’s not more well known because it’s charming, hilarious, and it’s “11 o’clock number” makes my cry every time. Beetlejuice fans, the male lead, Jack, is played by Rob McClure and David Josefsberg plays two supporting characters! I played Mahi in a production of it and it was some of the most fun I’ve ever had on stage.
So, I know it's a concept recording, but lately, I have been obsessed with the show "Starry." It's about Vincent Van Gogh and his little brother Theo. The music is so beautiful and I have had it on repeat for the past couple of weeks now.
i was meant to see come from away on tour this may but due to covid 19 it was cancelled and im heartbroken, such a wonderful and heartfelt show 10/10 would recommend
My current obsessions are Falsettos and Bare a Popera. I've been listening to it for months an they still haven't gotten old for me. Also, my heart leaped at the mention of Hunchback of Notre Dame. It is so underrated and I love it with all of my heart.
next to normal is my all time favourite musical and i am so SO excited that you mentioned it!! the music, lyrics and story is so beautiful and has so much depth! alice ripley’s i miss the mountains touches so deep and i cry at the cast album daily. i adore ragtime too!! i saw ragtime at the premiere in my country and it was the most beautiful piece of theatre that i have ever seen live, and i’ve seen a LOT of theatre haha! 💕💗 thanks for mentioning lots of other really great shows !!!
THE WAY I SCREAMED WHEN YOU MENTIONED HUNCHBACK. i was literally writing an essay about it on here after you asked the question of the day BUT YES THANK YOU FOR PUTTING IT ON THE LIST. UNDERRATED AF🥺
I currently mostly listen to Heathers, Beetlejuice and Mean Girls. Well, and Wicked of course. *I laughed when I saw the thumbnail.* I’m already listening to these to musicals, so this video is awesome.
Recently, I’ve been listening to the “Carousel” revival OBC cast album and it is GORGEOUS. Also, I was in “Jane Eyre: The Musical” two years ago and I’ve been re-listening to it recently - HIGHLY recommend, the music is beautiful! I was also in “The Spitfire Grill” as Hannah Ferguson a few years ago, and I CANNOT recommend the cast album enough! Also Kath, you just doing mundane things while talking about musicals and not mentioning what you’re doing is PEAK comedy. We stan. 💖
@@Ashley-bt1dm i should know this but some things go over my head. Is this a Torchwood reference? Or part of the lyrics? I've been cracking my head trying to figure it out 🤣 at the end i decided to just ask.
I'm so glad you talked about Come From Away and Next to Normal. Both shows made such an emotional impact on me and continue to be some of my go-to shows to listen to during hard times.
*Listen to THIS, not THAT* (Recordings for all of these can be found in UA-cam) Hamilton or Six ->Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 Heathers -> Carrie Wicked-> Twisted: The Untold Story Of A Royal Vizier Hamilton -> In The Heights Be More Chill -> 21 Chump Street Les Misérables -> Falsettos (for the character development. Search Jewish Slime Tutorial) The Lightning Thief: The Musical -> A Very Potter Musical (I couldn’t find a way to work in Fun Home, but definitely go watch fun home if you like grey characters.)
I recommend listening to the musical Oliver!, I was in the show and it is such a beautiful story. It is also based on the book Oliver Twist. It is such a beautiful musical. :,))
I just listened to Lizzie btw and I'm in love 😍 we need more musicals in this style. (Also I made a Spotify playlist with "don't lose your head" and "why are all these heads off"
One album I highly recommend is Big Fish, the score is just beautiful and there are so many bops in it. Alex Brightman was also in it, he doesnt have a solo though as his character doesn't sing. But it's just such a great show and it deserves so much more recognition!
Question of the Day: 1) Alice By Heart, 2) Jekyll and Hyde *i think Jeykll and Hyde was recommended by you and i love it and i wish i was a soprano or COULD BELT*, 3) Phantom of the Opera *wishing i was a soprano now for about a week is my current mood* also I listen to A Musical from Something Rotten every other day just to remind myself I am a theatre kid even when theatre is not happening
Kat is the only creator I follow where a feel SO HAPPY when I see a sponsorship. Like am I crying because I can’t stop thinking about Me and the Sky or because I love to see Kat get that coin????
Some of my recommendations: & Juliet: This is a jukebox musical featuring the music of Max Martin. It deals with what would go down if Juliet didn't end her life at the end of Romeo and Juliet. It's a super feminist musical and features a prominent non-binary character as well as LGBT+ representation in general. If you're a Six fan, Grace Mouat (one of the OG understudies for the queens) also understudies in this show. Nevermore: This is a musical about the life of Edgar Allen Poe in the style of an operetta. It's unapologetically dark and had an off-Broadway run in 2015. To my knowledge there's not bootleg out there with only a few clips from their official YT page, but the cast recording is on Spotify and it's pretty easy to follow the first time listening through. Starry: If you like Bare: A Popera, you'll also LOVE this musical. There's no full synopsis of it that I've ever found but all I can say is it's a pop/rock musical about Theo and Vincent van Gogh. P.S, If you're a Mean Girls/Starkid fan Mariah Rose Faith (Tour Regina) plays Jo van Gogh, as well as some other Starkids including Dylan Saunders as Vincent van Gogh, Jeff Blim as Paul Gauguin, and Jaime Lyn Beatty as Emile Bernard.
I saw next to normal on tour in Denver with Alice Ripley in high school and it fundamentally changed what theatre can be for me. I remember crying from the start of Song of Forgetting through the rest second act, at the stage door, and well into the drive home because I was just so moved. The way even little words and phrases like "Hey" and "Hi, Dad" are loaded with subtext is practically Chekhovian. Thank you, I definitely needed this reminder tonight 💟
My undergrad did it and I played pepa! Such an underrated show. Definitely prefer the London/revised cast version though, you can find it if you just google it
I'm currently listening to 2 Musicals: 1. Waitress, It's such a beautiful "real" (meaning it's something that happens to people in real life) story and "she usted to be mine" is just one of the Most powerfull sad ballades ever! 2. Love Never Dies. For everybody who loves Phantom This ist the "sequel" by A. Lloyd Webber. The music is unreal..sooo beautiful

The music is so beautiful and I have had it on repeat for the past couple of weeks now.
i was meant to see come from away on tour this may but due to covid 19 it was cancelled and im heartbroken, such a wonderful and heartfelt show 10/10 would recommend
qotd: everything by starkid lol
I firmly believe that Kick it up a notch is the best villain song ever written and I'm willing to duel anyone who says otherwise
literally me.

i love the way your hair looks, this shade of blonde is so flattering
Yay Musical Reccomendations!!
Just one I’d recommend 35mm: A musical exhibition. It’s so good. Just one I’m currently obsessed with.
Cordelia Jackson ooo i’ll have to check that out
Omigosh I'm so happy you mentioned Come From Away and Next to Normal! They're two of my favorites!
I haven't stopped listening to Assassins for months now
My current obsessions are Falsettos and Bare a Popera.

💕💗 thanks for mentioning lots of other really great shows !!!
kat ily💗 and i’m currently OBSESSED with catch me if you can and bonnie and clyde!
*I laughed when I saw the thumbnail.*
I’m already listening to these to musicals, so this video is awesome.
We stan. 💖
I recently fell in love with Anything Goes ♥️♥️♥️
@@Ashley-bt1dm i should know this but some things go over my head. Is this a Torchwood reference? Or part of the lyrics? I've been cracking my head trying to figure it out 🤣 at the end i decided to just ask.
Hello Dolly lowkey filled with bops
Hi thank you for the content
I'm so glad you talked about Come From Away and Next to Normal. Both shows made such an emotional impact on me and continue to be some of my go-to shows to listen to during hard times.
“oh this is going to be really chaotic” same
i screamed out of excitement of every musical u mentioned also i’ve grown completely OBSESSED with patrick page’s voice😍😍
How is no one taking about the changing backgrounds? Also, I'm listening to Little Shop of Horrors!
Me: crying because heathers and beetlejuice are the ones I listen to the most
Those two and Mean Girls
I just finished listening to Beetlejuice the Musical.
I've been listening to Something Rotten a lot. It has some really clever lines and tons of musical theater references
I am rlly obsessed with six rn lol
I’m currently obsessed with hadestown, the lightning thief and rent so I should probably broaden my knowledge on musicals😅
Same lol
You should listen to falsettos! It’s my absolute favorite musical!
*Listen to THIS, not THAT*
(Recordings for all of these can be found in UA-cam)
Hamilton or Six ->Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812
Heathers -> Carrie
Wicked-> Twisted: The Untold Story Of A Royal Vizier
Hamilton -> In The Heights
Be More Chill -> 21 Chump Street
Les Misérables -> Falsettos (for the character development. Search Jewish Slime Tutorial)
The Lightning Thief: The Musical -> A Very Potter Musical
(I couldn’t find a way to work in Fun Home, but definitely go watch fun home if you like grey characters.)
I actually feel like people talk about A Very Potter Musical way more then Lightning Thief.
I love the location changes😂
Sunday in The Park With George! I watched the pro shot, and it’s amazing!
I recommend listening to the musical Oliver!, I was in the show and it is such a beautiful story. It is also based on the book Oliver Twist. It is such a beautiful musical. :,))
Agreed
& Juliet is so good. It is all I listen to and it is such a strong show for women to listen to
This has nothing to do with anything but ARE YOU TWINS WITH KARA LINDSEY?!?!? You two are literally identical!
That is the nicest thing anyone has ever said
Katherine Steele Yay! But....are you!?!?
@@greenfinch_1266 I don't think she is
I love come from away! I’ve seen it live twice!
Some of my recommendations:
& Juliet: This is a jukebox musical featuring the music of Max Martin.
Also Joe Iconis's Broadway Bounty Hunter released a Cast Recording Today (April 24th) I really Recommend Listening To it!
Currently OBSESSED with “Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown” x
My undergrad did it and I played pepa! Such an underrated show. Definitely prefer the London/revised cast version though, you can find it if you just google it
You should react to starkid musicals
I'm currently listening to 2 Musicals:
