Just because you were treated like a 'princess' back in your day...when you were young, it doesn't necessarily mean you were REALLY a princess or were anything special. People treat you in a specific way to get something out of you...whether a date, a relationship or yeah...even a marriage. I get it...some of them had it REALLY good back then...they were the 'prom-kings and queens' of their generation, but SERIOUSLY...all of that comes to an end when you get old. We all have to get used to the stage in our lives when we will no longer be 'popular', 'attractive', and yes...even 'healthy'! There's also an element of vanity like: "I've still got it".
Also, competition - I've had so many friends boasting about their younger boyfriend. I never tell them about all my younger love interests because I am not interested in boasting or competing.

If they felt good about themselves, it’s easy to say no to a smooth talker who has only said what you’re desperate to hear about yourself. All these scammers say the same thing. “My queen.” “ I’ll love you forever.” “You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”

    Common romance scammer tactics:
They love bomb the victim with flattery. It doesn’t take them long to start calling the victim beautiful, queen, honey or baby.
If there’s a big age gap between the victim and the age the scammer is using, they will always say “age is just a number“.
Frequently their occupations are oil rig worker, doctor stationed in Yemen or Turkey, interior decorator. These are not the only occupations they claim to have.
They are widowed, separated or divorced. They usually have a small child in a boarding school in a different country. If their spouse is dead, it’s usually something tragic like cancer or a car accident. If they are divorced, the ex spouse cheated on them with their best friend.
They will claim their child is looking for a mother. At some point the child or the scammer’s parent is hospitalized and needs money for an operation. Scammers will frequently say they’re from America yet they do not understand the American medical system where you are treated first and pay later. You do not need to pay upfront to have an operation usually.
Sometimes scammers claim to be the only one in the world. All their family is gone making the victim believe they are the only ones that could help them.
Scammers pretend to be wealthy and will give the victim access to a fake bank account that shows millions of dollars (no rich person is going to give a total stranger access to their bank account).
If the scammer claims to be working on an oil rig, they will claim that equipment has broken down and they need to buy new equipment and that’s where the victim comes in at (they claim to be on the oil rig but you can hear roosters in the background).
During the grooming stage of the scam, besides flattering the victim constantly, they also get the victim involved in phone sex. Most victims are too embarrassed to admit to this especially if they’re elderly. This is one of the tactics scammers use to keep the victim emotionally tied to them plus they can use it as leverage if they need to blackmail the victim.
Scammers will always mention three or four different countries: the country they’re born in, the country they were raised in, the country they were living in and the country that their job has sent them to. They give the most illogical reason why they sound Nigerian when they are supposed to have been raised in America. They will say that their one parent is from one country and another parent from another country and that’s why their accent doesn’t match the country they claim they were raised in. One scammer claims to have been raised in Germany but was forbidden to speak German that’s why he couldn’t speak German but his accent is Nigerian. The person who the scammer was trying to scam speaks German and this was the excuse he had given her as to why he couldn’t understand what she was saying. They come up with a new lie when the person they’re talking to speaks the language of the country the scammer said they are from.
The scammer will take a victim off the platform they originally met on and ask them to go to WhatsApp, Google hangouts or telegraph. On Facebook, after accepting their friend request, they will start communicating through Messenger. If they can’t keep the conversation directly on Facebook for everyone to see, they are a scammer. Block them.
One of the reasons victims are victims is not just because they’re not knowledgeable of scams or tech savvy, part of it is they’re not using logic. A 35 year old handsome man whose buff and can have his choice of any woman is not going to fall madly in love with a 75-year-old woman. Nor will some hot porn star looking woman (the pictures are usually those of porn stars) in her 20s is going to fall madly in love with some overweight guy with missing teeth who is old enough to be her father.
Once a victim gives a scammer money, even if it’s a small amount, the scammer will give the victim’s name to other scammers. Those other scammers will contact the victim and the cycle starts over again. They start telling the victim how beautiful they are and how much in love they are with them leaving the victim thinking all of a sudden they have become desirable to all these men.

I ended a long marriage when it became abusive. The scammers were contacting me constantly. As sad, depressed, lonely as I was I KNEW they were scammers. I called them out, let them know that I knew what they were.
Even dated a guy for several months who tried to squeeze $1,500 out of me. I called that BS out, also.

@@davisholman8149 After a long marriage or an unmarried romantic relationship ends, it's important for a person to let themselves go through a process of adjustment & healing. Loneliness is part of the healing as long as a person doesn't wallow.
Many counselors will advise people to allow themselves an adjustment time when there is a divorce or break up or a new job or a baby or really any life altering change. Better advice would be if more counselors would advise people to allow themselves to be single & celibate until they are content with their own company.
It takes different amounts of time for different situation, different people.
Allowing myself the adjustment time to being single & celibate was the best choice for me. It helped me to become grounded, become emotionally stronger and yes, fully healed. So many friends & family members were trying to get me to "get back out there."
      Bad advice.
Now, having become whole again, people who knew me "back then" ask me how I did it, ask me for advice. When I tell them, what I did, it's clear that they feel they can't do it. The pain of being stuck or making detrimental life choices is far worse than taking the time to heal for however long it takes.
It took a ton of soul searching, some sleepless nights, recognizing situations that could have harmful to the peace I was cultivating. Ultimately, I'm a much happier person. 100% debt free, I paid cash for a nice car.
Have spent time building my wealth portfolio, in much better athletic condition. I have no dependents that I have to take care of or financially support. Enjoying helping others is at the core of my character, I love doing that. If someone comes into my life, that's okay, if they don't, that's okay, too.
The bottom line is that I know exactly what I bring to the table, am fine with eating alone.

What women need to understand is that if these handsome millionaires as they claim to be wanted to go on a dating site they would be on one that is for gorgeous young females who are looking for sugar daddies. Men with money power and status are not looking for 60 year old grandmothers who are living on a retirement pension in suburbia in a modest three bedroom home who’s lifestyle consists of exercise classes at the Senior-citizen’s club. Taking the pet poodle to the park every afternoon and going to bed at 7.30 each night to read their latest purchase, a Mills and Boon romance novel. These men are looking for a 19 year old stunner that they can pamper and enjoy a Jetset life style with. What women need to do is to get real about this world and stop acting like life should be like one of their romance garbage novels that they fill their minds with. Even when you meet someone that you like at the Senior citizens club, you still have to be careful. I am 61 years of age, I am single and have been for 12 years and I have never been more happier in my life. I get involved with things. I love trying to solve cold cases, I support the Victorian Police blue ribbon organisation and the NSW police here in Australia my country and over in The United States I support The Thin Blue Line. It’s police remembrance week in The Starts and I wear my black and blue ribbons on my back pack in honour of all the great police officers who have died fighting to keep us safe. I have found lovely people that I send beautiful messages to on Facebook and I am there 24/7 for my parents when they need me. Find things in life that are meaningful and are real. My advice is stay off dating sites, watch Dr. Phil’s excellent shows on dating scams and cat fishing. Stay safe everyone and keep it real. ⭐️😇🇦🇺

The gift blanket, that had pictures was an insult and a joke. He is probably laughing and saw this blanket as a fun way to say thank you for the free money. What a complete jerk.

It's really hard to feel empathy for these people. With all the info about scams out there she should have known better. I mean we're not talking about a few hundred dollars, we're talking about thousands sent to a stranger.

A lot of people do not know that romance scams exist but that’s no excuse for being foolish. These people are just foolish and greedy as well. The scammers make fake bank accounts showing the victims millions of dollars. What rich person is going to give a total stranger access to the bank accounts? Why would anyone give away their life savings when they’re old? There is some risks you just should never take it.

Just because the information is there, doesn’t mean that everyone well find it
In reality there shouldn’t be any warnings about romance scammers. It just is common sense not to send your entire life savings to a person who you’ve never met in person.

Oh I feel sad Nigeria is trending for the wrong reason again, but I would like to put out a disclaimer that not all Nigerians are scammers , the country economy is in shambles with people that live below ten dollar a day of which this has made a lot of youth like me to venture into illegal means to survive am not in encouraging their actions , I Feel the paint of the victims but is a situation of when you are falling and you have Notting to hold onto , as a Nigerian I choose not to engage in this not because everything is okey for me I go hard everyday to survive it just my principles and I wish the world will see Nigeria from the perspective of the youth like me .

What's sad about these scam stories is that the victims aren't vocal while they are in the fake relationship and handing over their money but after they realize they've been scammed, that's when they start talking, asking questions, and wanting help from the authorities, the media, and anybody else. I'm not making fun of this woman but am making a point that you have to put your emotions aside and do your research. There's no reason why a real, responsible person needs a stranger's money. They should have their own emergency savings, credit cards, retirement plan, or family and friends to borrow money from. At the least, if a person you just met has none of these things, you need to be running from them anyway.

The scammer didn’t order it. Scammers use mules. These are people that handle money or other things for the scammer. To make the victim less suspicious, the mules are in America and not Nigeria.
The mules can lead someone to the scammer except they never met the scammers themselves.

Its always greed that gets these people in trouble. THE hope of alot of money to come their way,if this man was poor ,down and out she would have blocked him.THEY give away their money only because of the hope of riches, its hard to feel sympathy for her.Greed is a horrible master😢
