In this Lonely Is The Night guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great song from Billy Squier note-for-note!
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
Some really cool guitar parts in this one! From the instantly recognizable intro, to the classic main riff and more, I will take you through each section of the song in the order that each appears on the original recording.
The rhythm guitar work is pretty simple, so getting those awesome riffs down shouldn't be much trouble for most players.
However, things get quite a bit more challenging at the guitar solo. I will take you through this solo note-for-note. It is a great study in blues based rock guitar soloing.
Have fun with this classic! Carl...

It’s kind of weird that you rarely here anything about Billy. He is a vastly underated guitarist that came up with some really catchy riffs.
Blame the rock me tonite video
@@davestrongman9519 I've must have missed that was there some sort of controversy?
@@Cpt_Adama by missed it you surely mean haven’t watched.
@@davestrongman9519 So cringey!!
@@davestrongman9519 It was a bit of that and then he took Leppard out on the road as his opening act during their Pyromania tour and they buried him!
I remember seeing Billy Squire at Biloxi, Coliseum opening for Foreigner Sept.22, 1981 as a young teen! He played all his hits and I REALLY remember “The Stroke” lit the Coliseum “Alive”!#BillySquire#MyKindofLover#TheStroke#LonelyistheNight#FenderStrat#🎸🔥🤘🏻
Tone’s perfect for this song!!👍🏼
Carl you are the man. Single handily kept me playing this past year with constant content and so many previous videos. I’ve progressed so much and can now do techniques I never thought possible thanks to your easy to follow videos! Keep shredding everybody only gets more fun.
Nice request academy member! Billy Squier had some great guitar lines! The Stroke is another great one 🙌
Right on Jamison, “In the Dark” is such a great one too!
The opening lick is 🔥
One of the all time Bangers!
Carl i was just thinking about Billy Squire great song big fan from way back 81 82 i think.
Thanks Carl - you're one of the best out there for lessons - appreciate all the work you do!!
Happy to see you up and running again. Missed those few days. Thank you for all your work.
Super job... It's probably my favorite Billy Squier song!
You nailed it. I can't wait to play it!
Always love me a little Billy Squier. He was the first concert I ever went to he was opening for queen back around 1980 maybe?
I saw him open for Queen in Oakland CA in the early eighties, most likely the same tour. Squier and Queen put on great performances. There was an opening band but I can't remember who it was.
It was 9-22-1981 for me at Biloxi Coliseum, Ms. Coast as a young teen was my first concert too & I still have the ticket stub with him opening for Foreigner!#80’sMagic#FenderStrat✨#Squire🔥#🎸❤️🤘🏻@markfrye4723
interesting!!
Billy Squire was a badass back in the day....GREAT lesson as usual Carl
I have been having a tough time learning the chords for the chorus by watching other you tube tutorials it'ss all so clear to me now watching this one thanks!
Squier was a staple at a bar I frequented a lot in my youth. He definitely has some awesome Riffs. As an odd request, I'd love to see a tutorial on The Ballad of Jayne. Thanks for all you do.

You are my favorite UA-cam instructor.. you like many of the same songs I like as well. There are Many good ones but I see you as the best…😊
Thanks Carl !!! 😁
You should do dust n bones by guns n roses or ballad of jayne by la guns. Theyre both of my favourites
Wow those are some good choices! Ballad of Jayne is too much fun!

My buddy recommended this song for me because he thought it would be easy to play. But I am not sure my skills is up to par for this song. But Thank you for posting, I will give it a shot.
Love it!

I’ve always loved this song Carl! Thanks for another great lesson!!!🤘🏻🤘🏻Any chance you could list your Helix settings in the description? Your tones are always spot on, and I’d love to copy!
Send me a quick email to remind me…. I will send you the patch 👍
@@GuitarLessons365SongLessons Will do! Thank you sir!
Great lesson as always, Mr. Brown!
For a future video, could you do Keep Your Hands to Yourself by Georgia Satellites? My uncle used to play that tune at family reunions lol
amazing instruction as always! i’d love to request “when a blind man cries” by deep purple
I was thinking abou this
Finally!
Awaiting the lesson for Respite on the Spitalfields by Ghost !!!
I like how he plays it first, so many just jump in and teach a song and it turns out kinda off
Yeeesss I love this one
Hey Carl, awesome lesson! Great rock tone! Can you tell me your setup for this song? Amp? Effects?
The guy did play on a strat…
Awesome tone!!
Love your videos, enjoy your ways of teaching. Would love to know if you've done a video on Hotel California solo I looked but couldn't find one. Thanks in advance.
I did but they made me take it down along with all my other lessons of The Eagles music
@@GuitarLessons365SongLessons oh ok I see, I guess copyrights can suck. Thanks anyway man!
thank u
Greta video as always Carl. Any chance you could do Great White Rock Me at some point.
Hey Carl, man will be good if u make a lesson for wake up dead megadeth, it's a cool one and fun to play. There are few lessons on UA-cam for this one, but man from u the lessons are always different.
Cheers Carl 🍻
Always reminds me of Couples Retreat.
thanks a lot for such an amazing guiter song.loved it.
Hey Carl, what about some more SRV lessons?
Soooo good Carl! Thank you. Any chance of The Stroke?
What are using for an amp 👍 nice strat sounds excellent
Hey Carl. Could you consider on doing tutorials on some Nick Drake sogs? He's a very unpopular acoustic guitar player, as far as I know, but his songs are very beautiful: Riverman, Things Behind the Sun, Chime of the City Clock....
Did you by any chance remove the finish of your neck? If so how did you do it?
What did you use/do to get that sound? What pedals are you using
10/10
Driftwood off the new Ghost album would be cool, Carl 😊
Please teach the guitar solo from "Lonely is the Night" by Air Supply. That's a good one too.
Thanks a lot 🙂
Any chance of anything off ghosts new album? Maybe call me little sunshine or Hunters moon?
Could you do a lessons on green light red lite blue??
“In the Dark” would make a great follow up to this lesson!
I don’t know if you take requests but could you do this song called open your heart by Crush 40?
Can you do let's get rocked by def leppard?
Great lesson as always Carl. You are an excellent player and teacher. Question for you. I notice in the intro you do a hammer from fret two to fret four on the G string. ALL other tutorials I have seen for this they use a slide. Is there any particular reason you chose to do that? I mean they are both legato and do not really sound a lot different but what was your thinking on this?
I stand corrected. I just found another lesson where the guitarist uses the hammer on. Still I would be interested in your thoughts on this.
Any interest in doing some off the new ghost album ?
you literally taught me guitar
can you finish Fair Warning???
Can you teach godsmacks song changes
can you do Cross The Line by Place Vendom
