- I've always felt that the G.I. Joe comic (A Real American Hero) storyline told the absolute best stories of the franchise. Since the movies can't get it right, I've decided to redo the comics with sfx and music.
Issue #21 "Silent Interlude" is probably the most famous issue of the original line, and really kicks of the origin story of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.

39 years later and I'm still obsessed with this issue. This was what "did it" for me. Between Silent Interlude and the figures of Storm Shadow, Firefly, Baroness & Zartan, I was hooked for life.

I got the entire first 150 issues of g.i. joe comics all for 15 bucks back in 91 .
Glad i did . A great find even then cas the first g.i joe book was selling for 15 bucks back in the day . Collecting was way better in the 90s when it was left to the nerds ......

I read this comic when I was twelve, after watching the first mini-series, and noticed that it was much more violent than the cartoon. It was actually a fill-in drawn by Larry Hama himself, the first of several silent stories he wrote, and the first appearance of Storm Shadow. Ninjas were huge in the 80s, and we later learn that Snake Eyes is one too, as indicated by their identical tattoos.

Just found this channel and so glad I did. I remember having this issue and was stunned that they told a complete story without any dialogue. Does anyone know if this was a first for comics?
It was definitely a first in the G.I. Joe universe. But I couldn't speak to whether or not it was the first of any comic to do that. Would be some interesting trivia to find out!
It certainly isn't the last in GI Joe Universe! There are a few more, and one of my favorite Annual issues has almost a sequel to this adventure in which

Snake-Eyes, Storm-Shadow and Scarlett (backed up by Timber) kick off a raid of the Cobra Consulate Building in NYC. But, that's jumping way ahead in the storyline.

Very cool! The audio is great and adds a lot to the story. My only criticism is that some of the movement seems to fast which could easily be fixed by not zooming in quite so far, but that's just my opinion. :) Overall, it looks great!
Thanks! I’m actually working on issue #22 next, which includes dialogue. Lots! Enlisting friends to help. And yeah, probably won’t zoom as much this time.

Crazy idea: What if you made a *almost* animated "Complete Silence episode. Here's what I mean: add the pages from Issue 21b, "Silence Between the Borders" in between the pages from issue 21, "Silent Interlude," to make a longer version of the story. Just a thought. I'm sure that would be a ton of work, though.
