My Grandfather was on the Atlantic Convoys in the Merchant Navy. He hated the Focke Wulf Kondors, not just for their bombing attacks but because the Kondors would guide the U Boats to the convoy and then the real carnage would begin.
Hence Churchill's nickname for them "Scourge of the Atlantic"
Fw 200 condors were outstanding in battle of Atlantic sinking many allied transport ships then British fighters came to the rescue and several condors were shot down. They were eventually relegated to transport role like at Stalingrad in 1943. Several unfortunately broke their backs on landings because of structural weakness in its fuselage, it was originally an airliner design

Not the entire 10 hour patrol??? :( (jk). THere used to be a mod where you could suppress/destroy the AA emplacements on ships, would come in handy for this kind of operation.

It's normal water, just with water=4 set in the config. I don't use shaders, i only add effects in sony vegas.
That is weird, my water doesn't look that good with those settings. Maybe it's just your post recording effects.

Fishyyy, I need your expertise. How did you get the ability to drop bombs individually? I have the SAS ultra pack and activator if that helps any. But I'm really annoyed of dropping my bombs in two's especially since this video inspired me to create my own Fw 200 shipping attack mission. It sucks to fly all that time to only hit 3 ships max when I have 6 sc500's lol. Please help!
Oh wait your using 4.13.4..... I'm using 4.12.2. That might explain something
@@kerrydoe9810 I’m using 4.12.2 but due to the annoying bugs and sounds being pretty much impossible to change, I think I might just go back to 4.13.4 and switch to Y-Pack, and get Zonk Mod on top of that

Like the B-17, the Fw-200 could dish out a lot of damage.
Unlike the B-17, the Fw-200 couldn't take a lot of damage.
It was a great bomber - as long as no-one was shooting at it.

I noticed those merchant ships were armed makes me wonder did any of these ships ever score a kill on a bigger vessel like a destroyer?
Furoki I don’t think so, the Germans rarely attacked merchants with destroyers, if ever. They used battleships, battlecruisers, heavy cruisers, and submarines for their blockade against Britain.
It’s a good question, though. Definitely worth further research.

DEMS - "Defensively Armed Merchant Ships" - had some successes against submarines, especially in the 1st WW but were easy pickings for warships.

The Germans did use destroyers, along with other surface vessels and submarines (and aircraft) in their attacks against the Arctic convoys in WW2. Naturally their role was to screen the battleships and cruisers as opposed to attacking merchant shipping per se.

You are thinking about a corvette, or rather a submarine chaser. Destroyers were designed to screen the main fleet against short range threats along with light cruisers - they did perform ASW and AAA duties, but were not specifically designed for that purpose. Corvettes and submarine chasers were tailored for ASW from the get-go.
The main weapon of the ww2 destroyer was the torpedo and the name/designation "destroyer" originates from the original name for the vessels "torpedo boat destroyer", a name that reflects the original role of the class of vessel - to hunt and destroy torpedo boats, a threat that materialized as a result of the Japanese successes in the Russo-Japanese war of 1904-05.
The best weapon against hostile commerce shipping, in terms of cost-benefit (platforms lost for enemy shipping destroyed) was, and continues to be mining enemy ports and shipping routes. This is reflected by the "United States Strategic Bombing Survey" conducted after the war (1946), as well as the analyzis of Operation Pocket Money conducted against the port of Haipong in 1972. Both operations effectively terminated enemy shipping.
In 1942 US Liberty freighter Stephen Hopkins and Kriegsmarine auxiliary cruiser Stier sank each other. Stier was a converted freighter too, but had 6 x 6" cannons vs 1 x 4" cannon on Stephen Hopkins.
