My driving instructor kept telling me to rely on headlights in situations like this or driving on country roads at night which I simply ignored as obviously cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders don't have them!

Motors parked the correct way would be visible and illuminated by headlights bouncing off the rear reflectors.
