Cyclists need to go on cycling proficiency courses and be made to display registration of some kind to make them recognisable so they can be held to account!
God forbid that a cyclist should ever have to slow down and yield to pedestrians, or otherwise obey stop signs, traffic lights or such. How dare anyone question their inherent right of way in every situation. They are the chosen ones. Dosent everyone know that?

Accusing pedestrians is victim-blaming. I think the Highway Code is one of the things we get most right in UK. Pedestrians are 'royalty of the road': everyone else should conduct themselves accordingly.
Too many cyclist riding far too fast. Very few of them giving priority to the pedestrians using the crossing. Plenty of them cycling on the pavement. are some going the wrong way on the cycle lane? it's not clear if it's 2 way. Makes me cringe as a cyclists myself.
Those cyclists are all breaking the law. I understand they don't want to lose their momentum, but that's too bad. You have to look out for the pedestrians and slow down around them. Yeah, they walk out without looking, and we know that, so slow down when there is more risk and put the hammer down when there's less risk. I would also argue that when traveling that fast, use the regular lanes; it's much safer.
I expect most of those cyclists are regular commuters and know full well the Zebra Crossings are there but I have to say that they're not very well marked.
I agree that floating bus stops are a silly idea. Apart from the danger to pedestrians, in many roads buses stopping hold up traffic. However, pedestrians do have responsibility when crossing the road. Many of those filmed did not check for traffic. I’m not anti cyclists who ride responsibly.
Cyclists are doing themselves no favours and the policing authority have no idea how to deal with it. Yet if you enforce a registration system and insurance for cycles, it would have a huge positive impact on pedestrians as cyclists will then be held to account.
It wouldn’t do anything. Cars have number plates and insurance usually but there have been many cases of road rage towards cyclists with the number plate of the driver visible and they get away with it. Most of the time the pedestrians are usually at fault because a lot of them step out in front of you without warning and with out looking. This is the cycling culture in London. Cyclists in London don’t respect pedestrians and couldn’t really care less about their safety. India has registration and insurance but why do they all drive crazy then and have the one of the highest road fatalities in the world? It’s because of the culture. It’s completely normal to drive recklessly in India like how it’s completely normal to not give way to pedestrians at these floating bus stops.

When a cyclist hits someone it’s their fault, when a driver kills themselves it’s the roads fault for being dangerous. No one tells these drivers to slow down, they keep speeding and they die but no one is quick to blame them for why they died.

Hi NFB UK, I have always thought that this style of cycle path at bus-stops was foolish, but this one is in a class of its own!. The Highway codes states that it is not the white stripes on the road that designates a pedestrian crossing it is the orange flashing beacons!, this 'crossing' is just ridiculous!. I do agree that riding bicycles in busy streets at that sort of speed is a bit hairy and is the main reason that I never use such paths!, I stay out on the main road where cars are rightly expected to avoid me!. I agree, which makes total nonsense of all of the comments saying if bikes were registered, insured etc they wouldn't be riding like this. There have always been bad cyclists and drivers, but this level of selfish recklessness has spiralled out of control in recent years and if you look it's cyclists of all ages behaving this way. It's a societal problem of lack of mutual consideration and care. No amount of new rules can fix that.
@@nickwinn7812 Some years ago, a Cyclist associated with my old cycling-club was attempting the end-to-end speed-record on a racing-tricycle. He got stopped by the police for "speeding" on a long downhill section, and eventually missed the record because they kept him by the side of the road for so long whilst they consulted other officers about what they should do. He was later summoned to court where the case was quickly dismissed because he couldn't know what speed he was doing as he didn't have a speedometer fitted to the trike. Now that there are blanket 20mph speed-limits popping up all over the place, I am surprised that the plod haven't used this same approach on other racing-cyclists who are riding faster than 20mph.
@@Teapot-Dave Your associate possibly had grounds to take action against the police for wrongful detention. Having said that, although there is no offence of speeding for cyclists, if their speed is causing a danger to others, cyclists could be charged with reckless cycling (not sure that's the correct term, but the road traffic act does give police the power to charge cyclists for dangerous cycling). As a cyclist I would welcome some enforcement, particularly in places like this video depicts.

All Green transportation and Net Zero policies are new ways for making money. If people safety was more important, the government would register all bicycles and e-bikes with number plate, so cyclists would follow the rule same as motorists, and e.g. stop at Zebra Crossing for pedestrians. It is a war between oil companies and some hidden organizations. Electric cars and bikes are going to pay Road Tax in near future. The Road Tax is based on CO2 emission and polluting the air. Why should electric cars and bikes pay Road Tax!!?? Are they going to pollute the air!!?? The government previously claimed that diesel is clean fuel, and after years, they claimed that it is more pollutive than petrol!! I hope people wake up.
Your supposed to be able to stop in time. Just like a car your supposed to slow right down when it's busy and be ready for an emergency stop. That's pedestrian right of way it's in the highway code
Bikes with motors are motorbikes - the law must be fixed. Construction rules, MoT, tax, insurance, licence, and PPE. Bicycles are road vehicles. Putting them on pavements is abuse to both pedestrians and cyclists.
The cyclist didnt not hit the child. The child walked into the bikes path witout looking. As for the other idiots going through the crossing & ignoring the pedestrians. You need to show some respect to other people.
yje cycle track is clearly marked at Elephant and Castle there are Marked Pedestrian crossings this accident was caused by the child's Mother I hate using the area but have no choice, so I look every way to avoid being hit by a cyclist doing a Legal activity
