Out of 25,000 runners, that guy had the emergency right next to you…!!! You were meant to be there, Tina!! The day sounded like it was so atypical but you were able to make the best of it and found the joy in running once again. What a day! What a race! It shows you’re such a good human and such a mature marathoner 😊. Great job my friend!
Great job and thanks for taking care of the fallen runner and for still running a solid race. I ran by when you and the police were assisting him and was definitely worried. I'm glad to hear that he was okay.
Such a great video, thank you! I am running LA for the first time next year, and this has me so much more excited. Kudos to you for stopping for that runner in need too 🙏
I ran past you as you tended to the fallen runner. It was a comfort to the whole crew I was running with to see that he had people around him. Thanks for sacrificing your own run for the greater good!!
I was relieved to see members of his running club stopping by to help him. Also, there were other runners who graciously stopped to set up a barrier around him so we wouldn’t get trampled by the thousands of runners. This is why I love the running community and how we take care of one another.
Thank you so much for taking care of that runner! You sacrificed your own race time for his safety. I'm glad you still got to enjoy your marathon! And they gave out Pocky as a treat? Nice! Best of luck in your next running endeavor!
Thank you for sharing your running journey and for being selfless person by stopping to help a fellow runner. A lot people would not have. I would agree with you about the last 10k having done this race the last 2 yrs. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it again. Love to see that you kept smiling to the end!
Thank you! It would have been much harder for me to keep going after witnessing the runner go down. I keep hoping every year that they will go back to Santa Monica, which will make all of us happy about the last 10K.
Listen, we all work hard to get our goals, but your "unplanned" victory was to be at the right spot with the right skillset to help someone who might have had a tragic rest of day if you hadn't been there. It sucks but how many of us can go away with the feeling that their presence made such a huge difference. I wouldn't even know what to do in that situation...
Thank you for putting everything in perspective. I’m just glad the runner was eventually okay and it would have been awful for him to have his care delayed.
You finished at a great time… under 5 was my PR goal but ran it with a cold that hit me on the eve of the race… it was a grind but finished way over 5 so back to training for next year! And awesome of you to stopped and helped the guy when he needed help.
Thank you! Sorry you got hit with an unexpected cold…and you still powered through despite being sick. Excited for next year’s 40th anniversary of the LA Marathon and hope they have some cool commemorative swag for the runners!
You are such a good soul, helping and staying with that runner. I'm glad he is OK - that is pretty scary for him. I haven't run the LA marathon since 2003 (way different course then). I feel like I should again one of these years - I'm in San Diego now so it would be either a very painful wakeup or a stay up there
I’m glad he’s okay too! Next year is the 40th anniversary so you might want to consider running it. It’ll take a lot of planning if you’re coming from San Diego…maybe turn it into a weekend trip to LA?

Thank you for pointing out the rarity of this situation! You’re right that I found joy again in running.
Huge respect and kudos to you for tending to an injured runner. Glad you enjoyed the experience. The shirt and loyal runner pin look awesome, too!
Thank you! It would have been much harder to have kept on running knowing the runner was down. I agree that this year’s shirt and pin were awesome. 🍀

Thank you! Yeah, the police were helpful with radioing EMS to pickup the fallen runner. Hope you had a great race day!

Thank you for watching! I’m glad that runner did alright in the end. Good luck at LA next year! It’s the 40th anniversary, so it should be exciting!

Thank you for the kind words! That box of Pocky sticks really hit the spot after the race.

Jay really knows everyone in the community! Congrats on your race and thank you for your services doc!
Yes, Jay really does know everyone and he radiates such positive energy! I was so glad to catch up to him.

Congrats! Great story. You are a real hero. Bless you.
Omg I saw your 2023 LA Marathon video when I was binge-watching these vlogs lol. Such a nice surprise you made another video for this year!

Way to go 🥳❤️💪🏽
Thank you!
Thank youi for tending to tat fallen runner, the cops were taking their sweet time to get to him.
Thank you for watching! It seemed like it took forever before the runner was able to leave with EMS.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Just imagine what your time would’ve been if you didn’t help that person
These so called "marathoners" need to stop ingesting all the sugary gel-crap as all they do is make you diabetics.
