I trained primarily for pace. I don’t have the discipline or patience to train by heart rate, although I do understand the benefits. My coach gave me some specific times for what an “easy run”.
As someone who ran their first marathon this year and getting a BQ on a very hilly course, there seems something unfairly wrong about net downhill courses. Good luck though!
Wow, congrats on getting a BQ at your first marathon! You’re a strong runner to accomplish that when most people’s goal is to get to the finish line for their first marathon. Net downhill courses are controversial when it comes to running a BQ. While they are fast, they do stress out the body a lot more than a flatter course. I gained a greater appreciation for downhill courses after running the Big Cottonwood Half two months ago and I was sore for several days….normally I don’t get sore after a half marathon, but it sure felt like I had done a full! Good luck at Boston!
What an awesome pace for your 20 miler!
Thank you! And thanks again for the ginger chews tip!
Good exercise
Yes, thank you!
Are you primarily training for pace or heart rate?

Do you use a head lamp while running in the dark?
I sometimes do when I remember to leave the house with it! When I’m in a rush to get out the door, I forget 😂
