    5 STARS for allowing us to hear the tools instead of annoying music. Such a beautiful finished project. Kudos to you Jon Peters

    It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.

    You're onto something good with these silent videos. Sometimes the woodworking community on UA-cam goes completely overboard with voice overs and editing effects that they forget that the viewers enjoy the simplicity of seeing someone share their craft.

    There is something about your quiet, still and measured perfectionism in the way you work that has me mesmerised every time. The absence of your voice over (not that I don't like listening to you) added so much depth to this how-to video. Great work mate.

    This is a great video. I like it much better when you show the work as it is done, rather than talk about it. I've studied tons of UA-cam DIY videos, and this one is a standout. Thanks for posting this, and for doing it the way you did.

    You have the most amazing looking soil! You also probably don't have many insects if you're building an outdoor kitchen.
    Our house was built on an old farm... All we have is wet mud clay soil and a bazillion gnats that treating doesn't fix.

    I can't believe how soft your soil is, in Sydney in summer (when all the decking jobs happen) the soil is so hard I carry a second shovel because I've snapped the blade or the handle more times than I care to remember going into the sun baked clay we have here. I wish I could get a job with soil like yours for a change. I'll quit whining now and tell you that was a great job, very neat finish.

    jon love your videos.
    your dealer or lumber yard should have warned you about installing ipe. all 6 side of the plank should be sealed.
    all end joints should be waxed. winters are hard on iron wood.try mohogany flame sealer cabot. just my two cents.
    keep up the good work.

    • @christschool
      @christschool 8 років тому +1

      Sealing isn't required in Ipe because its naturally an oily wood. However, waxing the ends to prevent checking and using only stainless steel screws is a good practice.

    I wonder if the supporting studs with direct contact with the grass, concrete or dirt are treated wood or not. The preservatives of the pressure treated woods help protect the woods from termites, other insects, and fungal decay's attack.

    Question Jon is that going to be an area where you are going to build counter tops and a sink and other things. I think you mentioned that in your other videos but not this one. Also i know you got this serenity thing going on in this video i just had some questions that i thought would have been cool to hear you already explain. An example is something like why heat the tubing, Why put edging around the board that are against the ground, Would that wood rot since it's in the ground, Are you doing something about irrigation. Its just me i like talking during the video.
