This piece had veneer damage EVERYWHERE. I had to pull out three different veneer repair methods to tackle them all appropriately: 1) Replacing a part of the veneer with a new cut of veneer, 2) Patching the damage with wood epoxy then masking it using stain, and 3) Removing the veneer completely and just embracing the wood layer underneath.
But the most rewarding part of this restoration was figuring out how to get the light working again. The light fixture inside the middle door was missing the bulb, and the furniture being a retro piece from 1955, it used a type of bulb that is very difficult to find today. Unable to find a replacement bulb, I went and bought a new LED light bar. I then did some rewiring to enable the use of the existing push button that acts as an automatic activator for the light when the door is opened. Even though the circuit is a very simple one, I still felt like Tony Stark when I got it working.
If you enjoyed this restoration, please do me a favor and like the video! :)

When I went to purchase this dresser, I told them that I planned to restore it for my youtube channel, and for the first time ever, a seller was already subscribed to my channel! Very cool and odd feeling.
They told me that the dresser belonged to their late grandmother, and asked me if I could dedicate the restoration to her. And so, this video is dedicated to June West.
Aww
That's classy.
😇
Amazing restoration, amazing story. I enjoyed watching, thank you!
such an honorable tribute
A Cinderella story. This piece is breathtaking.
It was a pleasure to watch this. They don't make furniture like this anymore. Well done.
Beautiful restoration, well worth it. This unique piece deserved to be restored. Pieces like this have long since stopped being made, that's why they should be preserved, for posterity. Well done!
This is my favorite restoration of yours ever !!! This is the most unusual piece I have seen on any channel. You took a sad, battered and broken dresser and made it regal again. For such a young man, your talent is on par with those who have been restoring furniture for 50+ years. You are so respectful of the original design and yet your added element to mask a serious repair was a measure of your skill and ingenuity. The back story of this piece gave your restoration as much depth and beauty as the stain you used. Bravo 👏
Yes indeed I agree!'it's such a unique piece and you show respect to all the pieces of furniture you restore to its glory of long ago when it was first made! Your care and the detail to your work shows
Superbly expressed if I may say so, Kim. *Regal* is precisely the right word for this charming *(Beautility?* Art Deco) cocktail cabinet - she is a debutante once more! The ASMR touches and your obvious editing skills are an added bonus. I think you did June proud... Bravo indeed. 🏆

Amo restauração de móveis. Esse antigo bar saiu do ostracismo e voltou aos seus tempos de novo. Excelente trabalho, respeitando o formato original do móvel.
Parabéns!
Its not a dresser
I live in Ukraine, in Bucha. I have survived occupation, shelling, hunger, and cold. Now that there is internet in my city and I can relax, I watch your videos, both new and old, and it's true relaxation, thank you. I dream of restoring furniture and in my head, I repeat your movements, it gives me strength, peace, and faith in the future. Thank you for your work
Oh stop with the sympathy post
Best of luck to you in Bucha. Ignore the trolls. Know that Ukraine has the support of the United States.
@@mattt8889 Not our job to secure a country and its borders when A) Its not even a NATO member B) We won't even secure our borders first and C) Sending more money to a corrupt country more than any other NATO member, while inflation is through the roof and in serious debt.
It's BS and Americans are sick and tired of being the world police and endless wars.
You think Ukraine will be better off? How did we leave Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan? The list goes on and on.
The military industrial complex plays on the heart strings of average people to justify more war. Where the fuck is the peace plan from NATO or the U.S? Is there any plan? Have they even drafted one? No they havent, because war is a racket and you fools fund it.
You can relax during a war watching furniture videos??

This piece of furniture is a work of art now thanks to you. I'm so impressed with your craftsmanship.
This has got to be one of the most (if not the most) detailed and impressive restorations you've done. I am so glad you didn't paint over the casing and took the time to make the veneer patches a feature.
I’d caution you against wrapping electrical connections as you did. That creates hot spot due in part to how you connected the wires by bending and twisting it together and the wrapping it with electrical tape. Solder the connection, then apply a heat shrink over the splicing job.
I too was not content with the wiring. I couldn't put my finger on why, but the little guy on my shoulder kept nudging. I kept thinking "wire nut, wire nut" even thought there was not room enough in the casing. Heat shrink tubing! Yes!
A crimp on barrel connector would work too. Twisted together and taped really isn't the best.
@@mikespangler98 I forgot about those barrel connectors, with preplanning and forethought to slide a heat shrink tube on the wire before hand.
He could have cut just one conductor, leaving the other intact. Then there would be no splice at all.
@@zysurge Only if he made the hole in the back large enough for the plug.
I must say that THIS restoration is my favorite! The beauty and design ingenuity is utterly flawless....in my opinion. Thank you for bringing this piece back to life!
This turned out beautifully. What an amazing piece. Such a lucky find. I’m sure June is smiling at you for bringing her treasure back to life. Well done.
absolutely stunning. it’s not just how breathtaking the piece is. it’s how you edit. you are the master of this game
Its as if you restored a lost soul...so touching and historic!
I was unprepared to the level of workmanship and dedication that went into this piece. Well done, kudos on your hard work!
Thank you very much!
This was the most relaxing furniture restoration video I’ve ever watched. I love how you didn’t talk but just posted headings. This piece is a true work of art. Thank you for sharing.
I have to say, your restorations are truly amazing and beautiful. You do such pristine work. Well done 👍
Wow! That final reveal with the before and after shot got me emotional, it was like you really rescued this beautiful piece, and then to find out it was a tribute to its original owner😭 well done sir, well done 👏 👏👏
I think the restorer IS A WOMAN, just fyi.
This is such a beautiful piece! I was really intrigued by the way the center display worked, and I'm so glad you got it all to work and kept it intact! Such a simple, but interesting mechanic!
Also, keeping the patina on the knobs was a stellar choice. And I'm really impressed by the veneer work you did on the sides. It all blends so seamlessly.
Thank you so much!
Absolutely stunning, they don't make furniture like that anymore. Thank you for sharing your skills and workmanship it was a joy to watch...
This has got to be one of the most unique pieces I have ever seen. Those legs are so gorgeous and the restoration is absolutely beautiful.
This is the most beautifully restored vintage furniture I even seen in 30 more years. You are a master Andy!! 10/10 as always :)
*such a wonderful comment*
What a beautiful sinuous piece. You have achieved a such a masterful restoration! Do you know the date it was originally made and by whom?
Your transitions are TOP TIER, and that's coming from a cinematographer.
I also wanted to say, I don't know how I've never come across your channel before. I say this because this is something I wanted to do as a hobby, and a side gig for extra cash. I searched youtube and google for any kind of group where people enjoy repurposing or restoring unique furniture. But I found nothing. Now years later I can enjoy watching a fellow restorer work magic on old forgotten "junk"!
What a true talent. Thank you for bringing it back to it's old glory. AND not painting it grey or black.
This is the most moving restoration I have ever seen. The piece itself is beyond gorgeous! And you did her justice in bringing her 100% back to her original glory. Then when I read about the dedication to June, I was 🥹 lost in the beauty of it all. Sappy I know, that's just me. Bravo to you 👏👏👏👏
This is the most unusual piece of furniture I have ever seen. You have restored it to it’s former glory. The way you were able to blend in the places where you added the epoxy was amazing. I will be watching more of your videos. Your work is outstanding…you have inspired me to try refinishing some pieces I currently have…thank you.
When I first saw the cabinet I thought, "Wow, what a beautiful piece of furniture. And nice technology. Too bad the former beauty is lost forever”. I was so wrong!
Thanks for sharing!!
Какая замечательная вещь а мастер просто непривзойденный и классные комментарии спасибо за прекрасную работу
The restoration of this chest of drawers was really beautiful. And the dedication was moving. I'm sure Mrs. June would have approved.
If that cabinet could talk I'm sure it would have some amazing stories to tell. Hopefully it has many more chapters to write in its story.
It wasn't a chest of drawers, though, just a bar cabinet.
@SalandFindles
I wouldn't say it was "...just a bar cabinet." I'd say it was "...an EXCEPTIONAL bar cabinet."!
What a gorgeous restoration. An absolute labor of love, I'm sure.
ESTE MUEBLE NO ES UNA CÓMODA. EN MI PAIS ES ES UN MUEBLE BAR DE COMEDOR.LAS CÓMODAS VANEN LAS HABITACIONES. A CUALQUIE CAJONERA SE LE LLAMA CÓMODA, Y MRE REFIERO A LOS MUEBLES CAJONES DE LA QUE, SIENDO DEL NORTE, ESTÁ EN TODAS PARTES Y CON TENDENCIA A DESAPARECER.
I have the exact same drinks cabinet, mine is a lighter colour but everything else is identical. You’ve done a wonderful job of restoring it, especially considering how many curves there are. You have a rare patience and tenacity. Beautiful work.
I have one too! Beautilities are pretty sweet.
Me too but my doors are glass
My grandparents had one like this, but the doors on each side are flat with hugely over the top ornate handles. I've never seen anything similar before this video popped up in my reccomendations.
Patience - yes, that's the word I was searching for. Your patience is phenomenal.
I'm so happy this cabin got the love it deserves. It must've cost a fortune back when it was first purchased and you see the love that the maker put in. thank you for giving it even more love!
What a lovely restoration! The craftsmanship of these old cabinets is so unique!
I have watched this video several times. I have some very stressful things going on with a loved one and I find this video comforting. The end result is so beautiful it makes me cry. I know I sound like a loon. I feel like one actually. But I just wanted to share how bringing something back to such beauty can give someone hope.
This is beautiful. There is nothing like the beauty of glowing wood.
So beautiful restoration. No annoying music no weird stuff.
Plus you kept almost everything and you brought it back to an excellent condition. You're amazing man.
This is the first time I've ever said this...I'm legitimately jealous!!!...what an awesome find...and a drop-dead gorgeous restoration!!! Stunning isn't a big enough word. BRAVO.
Another freakin' home run! Your woodworking skills are matched by your filmmaking choices -- both are excellent. Peaceful., restful filmmaking...and I mean this as a compliment: I'm going to go take a nap!
My parents had one just like this 65 years ago!! brought back many memories. Thank you
What amazing furniture they once created. It's like we went backwards instead of forwards
You young man did a cracking job on that piece of furniture. I used to go dumper diving for pieces like that, turned it into a hobby. It was a really good feeling at the end result.👍
These videos are seriously therapeutic. Something about seeing furniture that deserves another chance be transformed into beautiful and genuine artwork- none of that clickbate fake "restoration." 😌
Also random question if anyone knows, but what does he do with the pieces when they're done? Its been bothering me for months for no reason
On his IG .. he has stated he sells them locally in Ontario, Canada
But I believe he has kept a few as well. ♥️
@amberlaine8815 Ahh thank you!! I was hoping they were sold off so he could get some compensation for his hard work, but that's awesome some got to stay with him too
I'm sure he sells them and makes a very good profit. He could build his own furniture to sell too.
From such a damage piece, you transform it to a piece of gem.
I am in awe of your “can do” attitude and amazing skill set. OMG the result is truly amazing. An old lady cabinet, care worn and neglected, restored to her former youthful beauty. Bravo!👏👏
If June West was alive, she would be so proud and happy you restored it.
Stunning work. The ol girl is ready for another 100 years of being treasured. Beautiful save from the landfill.
Hopefully the next 100 years it will be treasured.
Absolutely gorgeous! Please to see someone from a younger generation loving restoration
My 2nd viewing of this video since first watching it a year ago. I'm always in awe of the vision you have for not merely upcycling, but outright re-designing and improving upon the most unlikely old pieces, then realizing that vision with artistry and skill. I'm glad to see, however, that when you find a quality, unique piece such as this that belonged to June West, you are inclined and able to bring those same skills to bear on a purely restoration project. You've helped two people live on, in a way: Ms. West and the original artisan who designed and built this gorgeous piece. Bravo for that &, as usual, excellent work!
Extraordinary piece of furniture. I've never seen anything like it. You did a fantastic job of restoring it to its full glory!
Holy smokes! The piece was so unique and then you worked magic. June would be so honored.
My grandmother had one of these! We had to remember not to put anything on the top part that slides back or it ended up on the floor, lol. Love how you’ve restored this one. Great job ❤
Well done guy. There is not enough talented people like you in the United States. Too busy on their phones and what have you. Enjoy watching your videos. I'm 75 and just love watching you go along in expertise...keep it up..
No wonder everyone drank like fish last century…they had such cool cabinets to keep the booze in.
Какая красивая вещь! Сколько проделано работы, пройдено этапов в достижении великолепного результата! Такое под силу только мастеру высокого класса! Снимаю шляпу перед таким талантом по возвращению красоты, молодости и функциональности непростым предметам обихода.
👍👍👍💯💯💯💥💥💥🤔😍🙋♀️
Dude your restorations are incredible. I don’t comment on pages like this like ever but I’ve watched 3 of your videos now and I’m just insanely impressed by your craftsmanship and attention to detail. I’ve just been sitting here going “wow” the whole time lol. And all of the furniture/pieces are so unique and seriously beautiful when you’re done with them. Seriously haven’t seen any furniture flip videos that are this relaxing and satisfying to watch. Just wanted to be sure you get that appreciation and recognition cause damn.
While growing up my parents and grandparents were CRAZY about Oak Veneer furniture, we had a piece very similar to this in my father's den. What an incredibly beautiful transformation! I know this took alot of patience, Veneer can be a taskmaster! Thank you for sharing, you are very talented.
The reason I always watch your videos is, you restore a piece with care and detail and reverence. So very few do that.
This one is gorgeous! Those ARE the strangest legs I’ve seen, but they work somehow. Thanks for sharing with us.❤️🤗🐝
You really brought out the beauty in this piece, Andy. The way you free-hand camouflage the patches is impressive. You even handled replacing the lighting fixture like a pro. Great work!
This is a magical restoration, the dresser is priceless now. What an amazing piece of furniture!
This piece is stunning. It's wonderful to see someone who knows how to restore a piece of furniture correctly. In this day and time, most people want a quick fix, but nothing can replace craftsmanship, patients, and knowledge. You have a new fan!!! Great job!
Какой сложный, прекрасный бар-камод! Было бы жаль его потерять. Отличная работа) 👍
What a beautiful and unique piece! Another incredible restoration and video, made even more special that the seller is a subscriber and you/we get to know who owned the piece. You did their grandmother proud! I know I’m repeating myself but you are a master craftsman and talented videographer. ❤️☮️
Это просто чудо какое-то! 🎉🎉🎉А мастер - волшебник.❤❤❤
It is a beautiful upmarket cabinet. Your restoration of the piece has returnefd it to its original splendour. That bottom stand is quite unique and special. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Art deco at its finest. I cannot implore people who watch this video enough to please like and share. I for one want to keep this channel going strong. This guy is young and amazing with woodwork.
❤
I recognize that you don't need it but I am so proud of you. With the shape it was in, I thought there was a chance you would go modern. I had my fingers crossed. The full strip of veneer repair would not have occurred to me, I'm sorry to say. It's perfect. Please don't sell it. No one can appreciate where it came from more than you.
Beautiful restoration!
All this talent... and no annoying so-called background "music"! Love this!
What a beautiful piece of furniture. They sure don’t make anything like this anymore, such a shame. You did a wonderful job restoring this beauty.
You did a marvelous job giving this piece a face lift, all the while leaving her completely recognizable. I was so happy that you merely cleaned the hardware leaving the patina. The replacement pulls were a perfect pick in their design.
WOW this piece is standing proud thanks to you. 👍⭐️
Beautifully restored. Well done.🎉😊
Absolutely beautiful. If that piece could talk. You heard me all the way through. I said, please, don't change this piece! I said, please don't paint it! I said, please don't change the hardware!! Please just restore! Thank you! And thank you to June West.
I'm happy it was you that found and rescued this beautiful piece! You are extremely good at what you do!
Absolutely beautiful and stunning!!!
SO many things that I like about this and your channel! First off, this restoration was bloody PERFECTION! What a unique and beautiful piece! At first, before restoration, I almost thought the legs were from a different piece. But once you brought unique & stunning "dresser" back from the dead, it married the bottom perfectly! (Is that really a dresser? I almost feel like it's a drink stand. (Either way, it's a bloody fantastic piece that I would buy in a heartbeat!!))
Secondly, it's so refreshing to see someone so young actually restoring something to it's former glory, and not making it into some modern day Frankenstein item. (Yes some pieces do very well when modern colours & touches are added. But you have a keen eye as to what does & doesn't need to be altered. Bravo!)
It's not just another restoration! It is a masterpiece, which deserves a beautiful place where it is all the highlight!! Work with excellence!!
These decades old pieces of furniture are absolutely gorgeous and timeless. You did a great job with the restoration, June West lives on, she would be proud.
Such a beautiful restoration and I am just amazed at the dedication and details
Thank you. My Grandparents had this exact sideboard (England c.1960). I think there was a small glass shelf inside too. As a young lad I was only allowed to open it by invitation and under strict supervision….it seemed magical to me then….and still does.
Oh! What a beauty! My grandma had furniture of a very similar style way back when I was still living in Prague. Her pieces dated back to 1900-1930's. All gone now. Thank you for such a respectful and thoughtful job!
Oh Andy! You treated this beautiful piece with all the love and care it deserved. You are PHENOMENAL!!! One request, please bring back the funky staining socks! I look forward to them, lol. The red ones are still my favorites though!
The broken mirror may be a lovely accident -- it allows you to someday replace an ordinary mirror with a statement piece that gives the unit a speakeasy feeling!
I'm sure June would be thrilled that her cabinet has been restored and repurposed with so much skill and attention to detail!
Gorgeous. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
Well done ! Happy to see it saved and not painted. Your repair work is outstanding.
I think that is the most beautiful piece of furniture on UA-cam I’ve ever seen! I was able to relax the second half of the video bc I realized no one was going to break out the paints. Lol!
Absolutely stunning job of bringing its beauty back and honoring its history!
I have this EXACT piece except for the decorative cut piece of wood underneath the drop-down door. I picked up my cabinet on the curb for a 100.00. I've had it since 1995. I love it
❤ Something about this cabinet …. I felt it was just hanging in there in sadness, waiting for you to bring love back to it!
That is a beautiful piece of furniture. I've never seen anything like it. Your restoration was fantastic and the new owner will have an heirloom. So much painstaking work with no cussing. 😉
i really love how you edit out the sanding sound sometimes! i have autism and sanding sounds really mess with me, so when i saw you edited them out the feeling of appreciation was overwhelming! the effort is not ignored in the slightest!
Or when it’s sped up a bunch! That also helps me a lot as an autistic person and it makes funny sounds which is always fun lol
