I also noticed something myself- the wire cloaking thingie looks so dumb sticking out in your build. BUT I figured out you can use the terrain manipulator to dig a hole- place the cloaking device- and then use the restore function of the terrain manipulator to hide it! 😅
Don't forget that every segment of your wires or pipes is an object. It counts toward the construction limit. Both 3k limit for uploading base and 16k per account. So other than hiding wires it's also important to optimize your wiring if you're planning to build a lot.
@@narlybeachcomber7086 The limit is already quite large. Especially for a game with free servers. It takes like 15 minutes for some bases to fully load. Limit per account seems unnecessary tho.
@@Beeblebum It would be if you follow every wall and leave redundant joints for possible future connections. Also if you have large number of tiny bases (for example to mine every possible resource) even several extra segments per base lead to a significant overuse of the global limit. I've hit the limit on my main save once and after optimization (all stuctures, not just wiring) my mining bases now take 30-60 pieces instead of 200-300.
I like the cloaking device behavior as it is now. The reason is that I can use teleport/bytebeat cables, etc. for other things that I want visible. For example, I used bytebeat cables as docking tethers on a pontoon boat (and as fencing elsewhere) I built in one of my bases. If you care to have a look, the base name is "It's MY island" (nod to character 'Stephen' in the movie Braveheart). Thanks for making this guide. I recently captured footage of hundreds of bases for a project & wires were easily the most obtrusive item to try to capture footage around. It's saddening to see highly detailed bases with wires obscuring so much of that hard work. I keep lying to myself that one of these days we're going to get a motion camera option besides build cam/base cam in solo instances ...
@@insideVort3x It's strange that people don't bother to hide wiring. I even build maintenance floors for that so my wiring is easily accessible but only to myself.
I remember hiding all my wires before the cloaking device. Since then, I just pick a center point, pull all wires from there and cloak them all. I may take more care in my next build and tuck those wires away. 😀
oohhhhhh 😮 i didn’t realise that lights have to be manually powered when using those building parts. i’m so used to using prefab and cubes where that happens automatically… 😅 no wonder my last base was so dark, i was wondering why the lighting was so ineffective lol…
Such creativity! Video request. It's a bit outside of your core, but I would like to hear some tips from you on working within settlements. I know about how to enable settlement building, but your options are limited. Can you help us work better with the limits? Thanks.
I am not sure what you mean with limited options? Once you have your base computer covering the settlement, building should be just the same as any other building project?
@@Beeblebum, I run into the limit of not being able to change the terrain. If you lay down a road or path, the NPCs can't cross them and walk in circles. No edits or changes to existing structures. One more example, if I build a "plaza" around the center of the village and later do something similar around one of the landing pads, they will not be at the same height so linking them with a path may mean rebuilding one or the other. It's really just a collection of annoying problems when building in a settlement. Thanks for your interest.
What about using the free base power option when placing the base computer as then you don't have any wires for visitors to see? Are there any issues with that option? Doesn't help if you are wiring up switches of course 😊.
That is indeed the problem with the Creative mode power function... logic is pretty much useless. And When having your base on creative power - visitors that come from normal or survival mode will find your base unpowered.
what do you mean with .. use the REVERSE WIRE Glitch ? You switch to fast that i can see it.. and i use PC not a Console ( which has different inputs , and some do not function as shown of the screen.. i dont know why ... )
As I said in the guide - I was just showing examples on how to apply the techniques (6:10) There is a link in the description that points towards the complete glitch building guide, there I explain each technique with the button sequences needed for every glitch. Refreshed and Dedicated Guides to each glitch will be added soon.

@@Hero2213 I do that too. It sure looks better hidden.
This one of my favorite items in my base!! It drove me nuts seeing the wires going all over the place.
Beeblebum, thank you for continue making video about NMS!

Wish they would remove this "limit" especially on uploading a huge base!

That is true - But I assume that no matter if you hide your wires or leave them visible, the amount of wires you uses will not be too much different.

Everyone should use this trick, it's extremely helpful in hiding those wires

In most of my bases I make wires sticking out. I even build poles to place the wires on to build a power grid on my base.
Hi Beeblebum. Really good tips, as always, thank you !
Would you like to try some of the puzzle games you were talking about ? :)
Lol - I did several during my Base tours in the past.. 😂
I even build a few myself, until HG broke some mechanics.

I don't even purchase the wire hider, lol. I hide my wires manually where it's required, so I can use wires as a building element where it isn't.
I used to use it for neon lettering, but no longer do so when they changed the look to what it is now.
