I used your technique today and it is hands down the fullest, poufi-est my hair has been using a flat iron-EVER!!! I have very thin hair and always feel like when I flat iron it, it just makes it look that much thinner. Today I feel like I have a thick head of hair!! Thanks for your awesome tutorial.
Your channel is my new hair favorite...I'm 66 with the same style and length, only difference is I have wavy and silver. After years of air drying only, I just replaced my T3 and GHD with Zuvi.
I love your hair tutorials! You’ve got a great voice & tempo that keeps me watching til the end. Gotta give you credit for getting me excited to style my hair tomorrow.
I work for a salon equipment distributor and ghd sent us their tool information documents for us to review. The ghd tools don't have heat settings because they are literally hard-wired NOT to heat above 365 degrees F! 365 degrees is the optimal temperature to style your hair without damaging the cuticle. ghd (which stands for Good Hair Day) wants your hair to stay healthy while being styled! Great video! : )
thank you for putting this up. I have fine hair that is neither straight or curly and find when I straighten my hair it goes flat. I tried just the straightening tips this morning and what a difference, going to try the drying and straightening tips tomorrow and see the difference. Thanks again
That first tutorial changed the game for how I flat ironed my hair! Every time I did your bounced hair tutorial I would get a TON of compliments. Love this video thanks for the update! All your videos are so helpful!
this is my second video tonight. I was already doing a lot of your blow dry tips, but had never applied as much root lifter. That and the flat iron pulled straight out from the head I am going to try. Also the cooling the hair after blow drying it forward. I am slowly working on effectively using product as I have very fine and oily hair and cannot stand the feel of a lot of product on my head.
I just watched a vid for Sam Villa and the fella mentioned a great technique for a little life/body for your hair while flat-ironing. Make your sections diagonally rather than horizontal. Also, he mentioned it is not good to use anything sticky before flat-ironing as it will damage your hair. I hope these tips help you and others :)
You are soooo cute , "then I start to expose myself". You've got some fabulous hair skills and I know this because my husband is a 45 year veteran hairdresser and I've seen those skills put to use. You got em!!!
Omg I should have found this out years ago !!! You are amazing to do show us . I was doing it all wrong and wondered why my hairdresser could make it look so good ! Thank you😀
Thanks for all the tips. I did not use all the products because my hair is thick. But I used all your techniques (except the tease). Best flat iron job I ever achieved.
The best way to volumise hair is to use hair straighteners with large Velcro rollers. After straightening a section put it in a roller until you’ve done the whole head. The hair will cool being lifted away from the scalp. Remove the rollers and comb and spray lightly with Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine. You will have a lovely thicker looking head of hair.
I just did this to my hair with my own products and WOW WOW it has never looked better on my own THANK YOU!!!! love it. Now just to get some of these products
Wow, you are so lucky to have straight hair. I only have to do my hair once a week but it takes close to two hours to beat it into submission, finally ending with the same look.
You are amazing, thank you. You're a good teacher ! So glad I found you, your video's are very informative and so easy to understand. You do have a look of Jennifer Aniston
I’m so excited right now. I just found you and it sounds like I have the exact hair you do! Mine is also fine and loves to lay flat. I can’t wait to try your tips!
I must be really really old...I remember that video! Lol. And I still use the Aquage, it truly is the Best for volume. Thank you for all you do here on UA-cam!
Terri Mann it's the Aquage uplifting foam in an aqua colored can that she used in the beginning of the video. It is AMAZING and the best thing for volume. I have color treated, highlighted, fine shoulder length similar to hers and struggle so bad with volume. This is truly awesome, I buy it at Ulta or ulta.com. HTH 😊
Great advice! I live in Miami in the humidity here is very high most part of the year. I dont like super straight hair so I will definitely try these tips. Thank you!
I have to say thank you. I don't often run out and buy things I see recommended by UA-camrs, but I did go out and find a bottle of the L'Oreal blow dry primer. This is a $3.97 bottle of pure goodness. It works! I have thick, course hair that takes forever to blow dry. It seriously cut down on my drying time this morning. Thank you so much for this tip.
It was very helpful I am thinking of buying an flattener and I just have the same type of hair as you and I was always struggering with no volume in my hair. I will definitelly try it. It also seems to me that it is more gentle than drying hair with a round brush (plus I do not manage it at all :-)))
I know this video is old but i found it as I'm on the hunt for new volumizing products for my sad, flat hair lol. I'm definitely gonna check out that foam!
Hi! I am curious to know- how do some people manage to have their hair blow dried almost everyday and still keep it looking healthy? Is it not supposed to dry your hair out in the long run?
Lol, I went to amazon.com to look up the l'oreal quick dry, and got 'customers who bought this also bought'...and the two items were aquage and the purple vented brush you're using. So after watching your video, a bunch of us trotted over to amazon for the l'oreal spray, aquage and the vented brush in this video. Love, love, love your videos!!!
I used to have a flat iron I loved that had a steamer button & detangling teeth on its plate. This was to detangle & smooth with anti frizz effect as it straightened. Maxi-Glide was its name. Also helps to not just apply root boosters but a heat protectant on the lengths of the hair, to keep the high temps from frying it!!
I bought my ghd specifically because it didn’t have a heat setting 😂 but it does have a chip in it that can detect by your hair how hot it should get. Loveeee it!!!
Literally purchased a bottle of aquage that is as old as your thousand year old video. Reminded of it again today and used it (kinda gross that it’s the same bottle), still loving it.
Girl! You are clever. I learned some new tips - thanks. It’s taken me years to know much of what you have shown us here. The letting the hair cool is a biggie as are the holding angles you’ve demonstrated.
Love your tutorials! The original version of this one is how I figured out how to finally get some volume in my baby fine hair. I've tried using the uplifting foam but it was too heavy for my hair unfortunately. I finally found my perfect product combo with Monat - Root Lifter & Blowout cream.
Loved your video. Can't wait to try this. Not sure what products you used. Hopefully when I watch it several more times I'll figure them out. Thank you for such a great video.
OMG...SOOOO SMART!! USE A DUCKBILL CLIP ON THE SECTION YOU DID! I TOTALLY ALWAYS HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THE SOLUTION WAS SOOOOO SIMPLE! LOL THANK YOU!
Never seen any of your Videos...Pro was fortunate to learn under the finest Artist Years ago..thought I couldn't be WOWED! Good Stuff!!! U sold me on that Blending Sheer..Anxious to View a couple of your other Videos! Good Stuff..will add to my Arsenal!
Love this!! I was trying to decide what I wanted to do with my hair and now I know! I still go back and watch the old videos also. I really need to try some of those products. I use the Kenra just 13 instead of 25 because of not wanting it so stiff.
Very pretty! That color suits you. Mine is turning platinum and I don't want to color anymore so I let it be whatever color. I do have some darker hair so it looks "frosted", now there's an old term! LOL!!!!
i had to laugh when you said you discovered some product like 15 years ago at a hair show. You look very young. I wonder if you were like 12 years old at the time. That's a compliment to you actually. Your hair looks very nice.
I remember discovering your channel/blog around the time of the original video! I have been a loyal follower ever since. Also have been a loyal buyer of aquage uplifting foam thanks to you! It's a must for lift and volume!! Happy holidays!
This was a fantastic tutorial! I followed the tutorial, and it totally worked for me! I got lots of comments on how nice my hair looked for the next few days! (I only wash my hair every 3-4 days, so I left it straight for a few days after this, and it held up really well!) Thanks Kate! =)
Still use techniques from your OG video about flat ironing your hair! So jealous that your hair is all ready pretty straight after blow dry. Thanks for even more tips that will help make my wavy hair sleek and straight!
lol I do the same thing to let my hair cool instead of using the cool button, it’s easier, with the hair all forward and in my face. I have the CHI flat iron too it has to be the best one it has a nice weight to it when you hold it and it’s very solid
I just watched the other video you referred to, I actually really enjoyed it and it had TONS of info and tips and tricks! I will be picking up the foam ASAP. Thx
I've spent years perfecting my "faux blowout" routine and I have to say it's very similar to your tutorial. Except I also take small sections on the very top of my head and give a couple quick passes with my flat iron at the roots only (making the roots pretty hot) then I just lay the hot hair over a giant Velcro roller and hit it with the cool setting of my blow dryer for like 15 seconds. I only using like 5 rollers.
i do something similar with a big round brush when i'm trying to quickly lift and smooth out some cowlicks. I rarely take time to section my hair for the best round brush blowout but at least fake it a bit with the flat iron and brush.
This video has helped me so much and as a bonus, you're funny! The trick how to do the front of your hair, genius and works with my cowlick. I've tried the loreal blow dry spray. Definitely helps cut down on drying time, and I've tried the amika undone spray. If you have soft, fine hair like me, this product is magical. Not kidding. I've got to try the root lifter and looking forward to watching more of your videos. A very big thank you!
I love all the tips! ESPECIALLY the tip for the bangs, that's the hardest for me to get to look right. I usually give up and just pin it back, so this is perfect! Can't wait to try it tomorrow. Thanks for all the great info. You are such a cutie too! :)
Sectioning my hair is the bane of my existence. It does not like being sectioned. It’s so thick and wants to pull and tangle. I have taken more than an hour going through this process lol
Thanks for this video. I have thin, fine hair that is semi curly so I straighten it but hate flat hair. I wanted to tell you about a new product I found that you will love. I discovered through Dominique Sasche watch her March 14 UA-cam she demos it and I was sold. It’s sold online in Florida called Healium .
I betcha you are the one I was watching a long time ago, when I was just starting out on youtube and how to do this and do that. I came across a very beautiful young lady who had some really neat beauty tips. Long story short, I stopped watching youtube so much ... college, career, etc., but, been back lately tuning in again, and stumbled across you today, and here you are saying that you did a hair video YEARS ago, and it's just occurred to me that YOU could be the one I've been wanting to find again. Hope so. Anyway, the few vids I've watched so far are very nice. Keep up the good work!
I'm 49 years old..I have always loved doing my hair and makeup and found this very helpful!! Never too old to learn! Thank you!

Ditto, and I'm 56! Wonder young lady teaching?
You've said 49 like you're about to die. Jeez, you're still YOUNG. Enjoy every second of it.

THANK GOD!!! A tutorial without any music!! Thank you 🙏🏻
I used your technique today and it is hands down the fullest, poufi-est my hair has been using a flat iron-EVER!!!
It’s so awesome how you say “I’m ok with it”😂😂😂😂 love your tutorials!!!
I never quite understood why I wanna use root lifter. Watching this video sheds light on that product. Definitely going to try using it.
I love your hair tutorials! You’ve got a great voice & tempo that keeps me watching til the end. Gotta give you credit for getting me excited to style my hair tomorrow.
I work for a salon equipment distributor and ghd sent us their tool information documents for us to review. I just found this 6 year old video….totally applies today! We have the same type of hair so this was perfect for me. Thanks!
Thanks for all the tips. I did not use all the products because my hair is thick. But I used all your techniques (except the tease). Best flat iron job I ever achieved.
Thank you so much for this video! My hair has never looked better!
My favorite thing about your helpful vid is your sense of humor! Such fun! :D
Wish more tutorial creators had it.
Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve always been horrible flat ironing my fine, thin hair but this worked wonders!!

You are amazing, thank you. You're a good teacher ! So glad I found you, your video's are very informative and so easy to understand. You do have a look of Jennifer Aniston

I was so excited for a new hair tutorial! Made my day. I love lots of volume and your tips are the best! Please make more!

Your voice is so smooth
I have thin/flat hair, and I 💗💗💗 the Aquage Uplifting Foam!!! It world wonders. The key is to blow dry the opposite way.
Literally purchased a bottle of aquage that is as old as your thousand year old video. Reminded of it again today and used it (kinda gross that it’s the same bottle), still loving it.
Believe it or not that video I found off of Pinterest, which got me hooked on your channel, which got me hooked on UA-cam. No joke! You're my fave. 😉

I have a lot of shopping to do! I love this, thank you for doing it! Looks great :)
The Aquage is fantastic. I have to buy it at a salon, but fortunately there's one close to me that carries it.
Love this!! I was trying to decide what I wanted to do with my hair and now I know! I still go back and watch the old videos also. I really need to try some of those products. I use the Kenra just 13 instead of 25 because of not wanting it so stiff.

Loved the video! I love the way you did your eyes today, would you please do a video on how you did them. You look beautiful!
Totally agree...., and what lipstick are you wearing?
Sectioning my hair is the bane of my existence. It does not like being sectioned. It’s so thick and wants to pull and tangle. I have taken more than an hour going through this process lol
Thank you !!!! You have my hair and I have tried so hard to get that volume. Love you.XO
And now, 7 years later, the Loreal Advanced Hairstyle BLOW DRY IT Quick Dry Primer has been discontinued. Do you have another suggestion?
Thanks for this video. I have thin, fine hair that is semi curly so I straighten it but hate flat hair. I wanted to tell you about a new product I found that you will love. I discovered through Dominique Sasche watch her March 14 UA-cam she demos it and I was sold. It’s sold online in Florida called Healium .
Im so psyched to try this technique tomorrow!
Love your hairstyle. Please do some of your old tutorials
I remember that video. Been using Aquage ever since. Thank you for an update video.
I love the hair tutorial! I miss those so much! Your makeup looks beautiful! Please list the products you have on. Thanks!
Can’t seem to catch the name of the products you use. Could you please let me know what they are. Thx. Your video has really helped me
Wow throwback. I totally used to do this in college 😊
Great video & explanation of what we SHOULD do. Now off to practice it....
Can you give me the name of the products you use again. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I got 3 of the products you recommend and I love love love the L’Oreal blow dry primer!!
I love your hair so much I can't even!
You have a good haircut. It makes doing this much easier.
love the way you explained
I discovered Aquage at a hair show also, over 10 yrs ago lol I used the thickening spray it's an AMAZING product!
