Yes, I said smelling nice and staying very cool as well. Get the full package you will not regret it. But this thing makes your manhood feel so fresh, free and clean. I use it now on a regular so I can maintain cool dry fresh Balls. Yammie Noob did not pay me to say my written comments. I’ve owned my 2015 R6 since 2016. Yes you will have to ride it like you’re mad almost but you can pretty much spank the crap out of it. Downshift as hard as you want with the slipper clutch to get into turns. And wring it out on straights like you’re going to break it. You won’t break it. Add a power commander and change the exhaust and this bike really opens up. Dynoed mine at 117hp to the wheels. I’m 160 lbs and this bike picks the front end up when first gear is pinned. Second gear shifts also pick up the front end. Lean forward a bit and that goes away a bit. Get steering stabilizer for your R6. Super fun bike

      @@Fee.1 installing a slipper clutch involves replacing your old clutch assembly with a new slipper-type. These honestly should be standard on modern bikes given their advantages but I digress. You could theoretically get an R6 as a beginner rider, but the outwardly aggressive ergonomics (unforgiving), high power output once in the power band, and high seat height shy many away. I'm not a terribly confident rider and usually ride my 07 R6 at around 6k rpms... It's not as enjoyable as my Duke 390 unless I'm down for a wild ride and let the revs skyrocket. Twisties you have to fully commit to, and the bike feels heavier than it is but then again I'm 5' 7" with a 31" inseam so I tip toe it.
      tldr; fun bike, I'm scared of it, possible to ride as a beginner but really not ideal in any fashion. There's better options.

      agreed, I've had my 01 R6 for about a year and a half and I love it, it's so much fun. Except mine doesn't have a slipper clutch or any rider assists like abs or traction control, but it's still so much fun, and feel's so raw without any assists. Got it for only $2,500 too which was a steal, it had been slid across the pavement though but the crank case isn't cracked or anything so I don't really care

      @bbs5400 4 роки тому +1

      @@Fee.1 Agreed, for the first like 3 months I never took my bike past 8k rpm, that was a good way to hold myself accountable and safe. It's super safe and SUPER slow when at 4k rpm or lower, and when I felt more comfortable and gained more skill, I'd slowly take it up higher and higher, to 8k, then 10k, then 12k, etc but NEVER in first gear, made that mistake once when I wasn't expecting it. First gear is FAR shorter than any other gear, producing the most torque, you can easily loop it by doing that or if you do it in a turn you can easily low side

A good friend of mine took a trip to Taiwan for a couple weeks, and she left me the keys to her R6. Nothing has ever made me so feral, such an absolute dickhead on the road. I Own a 3rd gen bought her 2 years ago street riding, commuting and first bike. Love Love this thing. I kept her under 8,000 rpm's for the first 1,000 miles to get used to her and I would recommend this to someone as a first bike, if they in fact 'have' something to lose and they truly 'value' their life then they can possibly withhold the urge to kill themselves by not respecting what this monster is. When you said it's like an angry wasp in a bottle that's the best description I've heard so far for this machine lol. Whoever wants this as their first bike should definatly say a little silent prayer to the universe because if you let the wasp out too early she will destroy you. The power band on this girl will scream in your ear and get your heart pounding faster and faster so beware it is more addicting than Heroin! so take this into consideration when choosing what to buy. I got a Yamaha R6 3 months ago, and I have to say, it's probably the best decision I have ever made when it comes to beginner bikes.
    If you're truly committed, have the confidence and the enthusiasm for any type of motor related activity, the Yamaha R6 will without a doubt be an amazing beginner bike for you.
    After I took my MSF course, I rode the R6 off the showroom floor and the only time I've dropped it was outside my house trying to adjust my gopro.
    I acquired experience by riding on the road and during my freetime I would go to the parking lot everyday to practice counter-balancing and u-turns.
    It just comes down to responsibility and willingness to learn. Within 2 months, I was doing knee downs and I'm just starting to learn how to elbow down as well.
    All in all it's a great beginner bike, but if you're going to consider an R6, you must respect the power and make sure you actually take your time everyday to go out to practice.

    Not much power down low, for sure, but enough to get going if you need to.

    I cleaned the carbs on my 01 R6 after the most complicated mechanical thing I have ever done being oil changes. It wasn't hard to figure out, it's mostly getting at the screws that keep the carbs on the engine and the screws on the carb that's the hardest part. Had to use vice grips on those unholy carb screws to get them off without stripping. Taking pictures and reading the manual eliminates most technical challenge. It just takes a really, really long time, mostly because the hose clamps are tough to get off, the screws sandwiched between the carb and engine head are nearly impossible to see (the rightmost cylinder is impossible) and the carb screws are almost all stuck.

    A few years ago I decided my beloved Ninja 250 (old school 2007) was in need of replacement for a little more speed. I looked at the Honda CBR600 and the Suzuki GSXR600. They were supposed to be the more relaxed seating posture sport bikes. Then the Ninja 636 caught my attention. It looked meaner and more aggressive. As I was about to reach my goal saving up my pennies, I came across a photo of the R6. I had ruled out the Yamaha from the outset because of it's fabled aggressive seating posture. But looking at the bike again I came to the realization this was the only sportbike for me! I got a great deal on a low mileage 2009 and prepared for the unavoidable sore back. To my complete surprise, It wasn't that bad. I find I can slide forward on the seat and sit almost upright, especially riding 1 hand. Then I slide back on the seat into push-up position and adopt a roadracing crouch. I took a 175 mile tour on it a couple of weeks ago and the bike was perfect. My one knock on the bike is that heat from that high revvin' 4 cyl tends to fry your shins after awhile. I may be the only 67 year old R6 jockey around but with over 50 years of riding experience it's WAY BETTER than being stuck on some lumbering Harley Davidson Moo-Glide. And for me, motorcycling has always been all about the corners anyway. What could be better than an R6?

    Got my 06’ r6 4 years ago as my first bike when I was 19 years old, dropped it at full stop a couple of times during the first 3 days and fell at like 15mph on a wet curve. Rookie mistakes. After that pretty much haven’t had any problems, engine sounds amazing, got no complains performance wise, got her brand new headlights and a fairing kit 3 years ago, she is looking better than ever. Only major mechanical issue I had was when the radiator blew up like 3 years ago, up from that point regular maintenance has kept her running smooth. You have to get used to the strain the bike puts on your wrists due to the sitting position though. I would “recommend” this bike as your first one at your own risk, she doesn’t do much in the lower rpms but she is not slow either, plus, you will most likely be tempted to go higher and higher in the rpm as you get the impression you are getting “better” at riding (personal experience, not proud of it, was doing about 140 after just one weeks of riding). Then again, I was 19 and stupid. If you are still planning on getting one then there is nothing anyone could say to stop you from doing it (happened to me too), just be safe, have in mind you are not as good as you think you are during the first months of riding, and know that any mistake in this kind of bike at high speeds will most likely cost your life. Ride safe guys.

    • @tonirockyhorror1
      @tonirockyhorror1 4 роки тому

      Native - don’t do it. I mean the R6. Start with something that easier, like 300-400ccm. 40-50 torquey hp are saver and more fun for the beginning. Also choose an upright position. If it HAS to be supersport looks, put a proper handlebar on it. Clip-ons are just not the right thing to learn proper counter steering. Don’t know where you’re from, but in Europe a KTM Duke 390 is a very common and fun choice. Doesn’t feel sensible AT ALL - but it is.

Glance down I’m just shy of 130 mph and I still have gears left. That was the moment I decided I can’t be trusted with this kind of power yet. So I stuck with my R3. I feel that was a good choice. No it isn't the best street bike due to it's peaky power, but it is adequate for any reasonable human being. Despite it's lackluster low engine speed output, who doesn't love wrapping the throttle and waiting for that glorious R6 explosion of power? A KTM RC8 would be cool but a Yamaha has more affordability on used bikes. Yeah, a used bike will come with its issues but it would probably be easier to handle on the Yamaha. The R6 is pretty sweet, a buddy had one and it was a fun bike.

    I have an r6 learned to ride on it and i have no complaints. I also live in the Bay Area and it definitely does fine on the street and definitely goes fast enough I keep up and go faster than most things I see

    I bought the 99 R6, new, coming from a 97 CBR 600 and absolutely loved it. It schooled the CBR. I just bought a 08 R6S and I guess it's basically a second gen? It's a project bike right now. Lots to freshen up. I'm enjoying it. I've always loved the aggressive ergonomics and I'm 6'4. Weird. I know. Everyone complains about the power delivery below 8-9 grand but I find that it keeps me out of trouble.

    Owned an 08 R6 as first "big boy" bike after riding a 150cc for 2 months. It is literally the bike that will make you giggle like a madman under your helmet. Go in to "Race tuck", rip the throttle and boom! tunnel vision. Still love it till now.

    I have an R6 and although I agree it shouldn’t be your first bike, it’s my second bike, I love it. I street ride and because of the reason why it’s tame under 9k I think it’s great for the street. You can cruise on it with ease, and when you need the power it’s there. Obviously it’s not the most comfortable bike in the world to ride, but I enjoy riding it around town.

    Ok I have a street Glide and a V-Rod. I also own a 2004 Yamaha r6. It has a few bolts on's and she's very fast. I'm almost 50 years old. I do ride all 3. Sometimes in one day. My r6 is a 2004 and very classy. Your bike should fit your character.
