Thank you again for putting this on UA-cam. As someone with a severe hearing impairment, having closed captioning Fr. Mike’s’ “homilies” is wonderful. I have tried reading the Bible many times in the past but I would give up because I had so many questions and/or didn’t understand what the scriptures was trying to teach me. I have been a faithful Catholic all my life, I am in my 50’s now, and I have gone to Mass every Sunday, but I have never been able to hear and understand the words being spoken in the homilies. I fully agree! ☺️ From my personal experience i would advise you to go every now and then to mass during the week. It's a completely different story! We can discover so many hidden unknown passages of scripture, and every day the priest shares about them in the homily. Even the environment is different, since (unfortunately) so many people on Sunday are there just because it's Sunday and we "have to", and not because they want to learn more about God. Going a "not special" day feels so familiar, and it's so beautiful to be there, maybe with just a few people, when Jesus is there every day waiting for us.
I have never read the Bible, so I'm excited to participate in this course and develop the relationship with God that I really have never had. Thank you, Father Mike. I cannot imagine the hours it has taken to put this all together!
I also have never read the Bible like this and was excited to begin and now here it is already the 15th day in and I am even more excited for this journey! I love The Bible In A Year. The last time I read the Bible was when I was 9 years old in a refugee camp in Thailand. A priest gave me a children version Bible that came from one of the western countries. I loved it so much that I read it everyday after walking home from attending 6 AM mass with my aunt. Thank you, Fr Mike, for doing this 🎊 🎉🌼🌞
I love the way God doesn't want for us to just believe in him but BELONG to him. I need to get to confession because I have not trusted in God's love. I hate Satan and I will forever look forward to our Mother Mary crushing his head. God is good and didn't want to destroy his creation, glad my queen will kill Satan.
I have read these readings but never understood it the way Fr. Mike had brought in. I cried throughout the sharing and I'm glad to be on this journey. God bless everyone.
I've always never understood the beginning of mankind and how we came to be, and also why we think and act the way we do. There was also an instance in the story, where Cain's offering was not accepted by God and that truely had confused me. However, Fr.Mike had explained the reason so well that it makes so much more sense. Thankyou Fr.Mike for taking the time to read and explain the scripture through you're videos. May God bless you and everyone who is present here to learn the word of God! :D
So good to be going through this again. Not only does it help me keep the Word in my consciousness , it also fills in those important points I have forgotten or breezed over the first time. I know God is guiding me and I pray that we all offer Him our first fruits.
This is my second go around with Bible In a Year- this time I’m just going to listen. I did Catechism in a year last year and feel that going through the Bible again will help me to connect scripture and tradition. The first time with Bible in a year was hard to focus because of so many other distractions but those distractions no longer exist. Here is to the start of a wonderful year! To everyone on this journey with me whether your first or fourth time- we are here for each other, we can get through this together!
I understand Adam and Eve hiding from God so well. When I find myself in a state of sin, I hide, too. I no longer feel worthy of prayer; I don't want God to see me in this state. I also don't want to bother Him when I have disappointed Him. I feel unworthy of His presence. So I hide. It's such a difficult mindset to overcome. Probably the greatest challenge of my spiritual life.
the Fall has never sounded so heartbreaking to me before listening to this podcast. I’ve always views the Fall and the events thereafter as angry consequences to our sin and brokenness. I’m so touched by the way you portrayed the heartbreak of the Father. it made me sad to think that we were created by a perfect God, lacking nothing, to belong to him and to be in holy relationship and communion with. and the trap of the enemy and the temptations of sin created a rip in that relationship. but for the first time I can see Gods heartbreak and His rushing to remedy the situation. Even in the midst of brokenness and separation, He’s clothing Adam and Eve, He’s giving them opportunities to be pointed back to the love of God even if it’s thru suffering and sacrifice. He’s still leaving the door open for glimpses of heaven while promising the fullness of an eternity with him. I could go on and on. I’m so grateful for God and happy to be following along with this awesome podcast.
I want to pray for my friend Michelle to heal her to get better and get her strength back from a car accident that she just had and I keep her in my prayers that she gets better soon in the name of Jesus Amen

Thank you Fr Mike for this podcast, I read Genesis before but when I listened to you on the 1st day I felt something changed I welled up I realized just how much God loves us, I loved the 2nd day and your explanations. I will continue listening to the podcast Bible in a year. God Bless you Fr.
Father Mike... I grew up catholic but never truly had a solid relationship with God. I have always believed in the lord no matter what but never truly felt close. My friend recommended to listen to your videos. I have now decided to finally read the Bible but through audio. After searching and seeking...I came across your "Bible in a year" and I can't stop listening. Mainly because after each chapter you help me to understand the scripture. Just when I thought I had some questions. .you seem to answer them all. Thank you. I pray for healing also in the process❤
Thank you Father Mike for the way you break down the scripture to make understandable, you make it so interesting that you look forward to the next day.
Thank you so much for BIY and CIY. What a blessing it is to go through these lessons and to listen to your perspective. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
Thank you fr. So sorry and ashamed of the times I didn't give God the best. It's comforting to know God doesn't want us to die in our brokenness and that's why he guarded the tree of life. Indeed God is love. So sad to have disappointed him. The devil is a deceiver, much bigger, smarter, stronger and dangerous than we usually think . One can't be too careful with him. Thank God for his never ending love for us
Divine inspiration, this is. I love hearing the scripture and getting a homily that opens it up. Fr. Mike explains things in such a basic (yet deep), understandable way, it's an amazing gift of grace. I was getting daily readings via e-mail, skipping them more than half the time, but this - this is incredible! Scriptures are opened up, their meaning revealed, it's a gift from God just when I most needed it in my life. I stumbled onto the series at Day 200, then started at Day One. So many issues and problems that I'm having are being addressed, maybe by just one sentence explaining one tiny part of Scripture, but it's touching my heart and soul, helping heal my brokenness. Thank you, God, for everyone at AP, especially for Fr. Mike and his ministry. God bless you all.
Wow, I am surprised I've tears in my eyes. All this time I've been misinterpreting words like God being angry and screaming. I realize it's the total opposite. Thank You for the reading Fr. Mike.
Once again, thank you so much for making this podcast, it has given me a place to organize my Bible study. Your analysis of Genesis 3-4 was very insightful. I never considered how God's 'punishment' for Adam and Eve could be intended to teach us to choose love in the face of temptation and to show us the relationship between love and sacrifice. As others have mentioned, this love is exemplified by Jesus' sacrifice so that we could have a chance for everlasting life. I appreciate the distinction you made between 'believing in God' and 'belonging to God.' I hope that I can learn to resist temptation and belong to God. I also appreciated your analysis of the story of Cain and Abel. I hope to dedicate the first of my fruits to serve and glorify God. I hope that when I am angry and broken I will not sin. These lessons are exemplified in Psalm 104, particularly how God shows His caring heart by teaching us to choose love and how we should glorify God. I am excited to continue this journey throughout this year. Thank you for all of your efforts to spread God's word. :) Day 2 - 1/2/2022
I'm 63 & have read parts of the Bible, not the whole thing. I've just finished day 2 & goodness, I love it. I'm taking notes about what you say afterward, so I can remember. Sometimes, I lose some, but you make sense. How love requires a sacrifice, even the clothes God made for Adam & Eve. It shows how God loves them in their brokenness & had to kill an animal (sacrifice) to make their clothes.
Thank you Father Mike for giving me the opportunity to read the Bible and study it with you which I have never read even once, although I had wanted to start from long ago. Thank you for nourishing us with the word of God. May God bless you Father.
I do not have enough hours to thank you for putting this together! I bought a bible and my goal was to start reading, studying, learning the bible. And I did start...the first few pages you can follow the story but honestly, as you get into it you begin to need help. It's hard to follow, trying to figure out the language etc. becomes a real task and you lose interest. This way is GREAT!!!! You read the chapters, followed by the psalm and finally the explanation! I'm so happy... I will actually be able to follow and understand and the Holy Bible finally!!! Again, thank you and may God bless you today and always! 😊
Thank you Father Schmitz. So looking forward to another year with you in BIAY and doing the Catechism In A Year with you this year. I pray that this nation will once again be ONE NATION UNDER GOD. Bless you for bring us the Bible and Catechism .

I so needed to hear this today!!!

Thank you so much for BIY and CIY. What a blessing it is to go through these lessons and to listen to your perspective. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
That was so good Fr. Mike....the vital connection between love and sacrifice.
Thank you. You are a blessing to me and it's only Day 2....:)
I enjoy the words on the screen!!!
I agree. I found this very profound, a precursor of the human life Jesus will lose to finally bring us back to the Father.
Me too
Thank you fr.
Thank God for his never ending love for us
Finally someone agrees with my opinion that Adam and Eve didn't got cursed but the pain or curse was actually needed for them to learn love.
Thank you for presenting the love of God and His concern for us in these Scriptures. Praying for this ministry that is touching so many.
Thank you Fr Mike. I never understood the Cain & Abel scenario
Day 2 - 1/2/2022
Thank you so so much
For this , bless you father
I'm 63 & have read parts of the Bible, not the whole thing. I've just finished day 2 & goodness, I love it. I'm taking notes about what you say afterward, so I can remember. Sometimes, I lose some, but you make sense. How love requires a sacrifice, even the clothes God made for Adam & Eve. It shows how God loves them in their brokenness & had to kill an animal (sacrifice) to make their clothes.
Such a joyful message and interpretation Fr. Mike. Thanks for this enlightening session of His word.
