I have had my L.R. Disco Sport SE for over 1 year now and it is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I get tons of compliments everywhere I go and it's able to climb, wade, navigate sand and snow, and accelerate and handle amazing! 👏 Alpine white with black out rims and windows with gorgeous turquoise calipers impress. I love my baby and it's the best vehicle I've ever had❤💯💥
I've had a Landrover Discovery TD5 for 10 years now, its 20 years old, does school runs, towing, farm work, family holidays is totally reliable and good on diesel. Landrovers are the best !!!
@@mad_titanthanos That's a hard question to answer. This is my 4th Discovery. The only one that was a POS was when Ford owned Land Rover. I can say I have used them extensively in hunting and fishing expeditions, and in such places as Stoney Mountain Off Road Park to have some fun.
We had an LR3 with the 4.4. Then now own an LR4 with the 5.0. We are taking a good hard look at this Discovery Sport even though it a 4cyl. It will be a 90% asphalt commuter. How we fair in this thing? Smile wise.
Amazing. So many people complaining about reliability, but how many have actually owned one? To be fair, LRs have reliability issues but all cars sometimes do, and some just go unlucky. Just to clarify: we've had a Discovery 3 since 2007 and now a Discovery 4 for three years. The Disco 3 broke its rear differential at 120 000 km, it was fixed, and sold later at 220 000 km. Apart from the diff nothing else broke, and it was a lovely car so we went for the disco 4. That one now has 90 000 km on it and no problems so far. At 2012 we bought a VW Golf for shorter rides and while it was a great car, reliability wasn't so splendid. At just 1 week after buying we found the petrol tank leaked, and the dealership fixed it. At 30 000 km it broke down and stalled on the side of the road. Dealership got it fixed again, the cause being a broken ignition coil. At 50 000 it broke yet another ignition coil, and the electric mirrors had also stopped working. Although it was fixed, we sold it.
Also I wish to point out, that I do not say a broken diff is a minor thing, not at all. My point just is that things like this unfortunately do happen, and while LR has in the past been renowned for being unreliable give it a try, and you will understand why owners most often love the cars. Granted, they are expensive, and spares are too. So if a spanner fits your hand that isn't a bad thing, but it never is. Not even with brands known to be reliable - they do break too. But As for this test I will have to admit, although the river was a nice touch this is hardly pushing the car, we've been through much worse with the big discos including 2 feet of snow and knee deep mud. And a multitude of forests...
The simple fact is if you take care of it they last a long time. Where it becomes an issue are those who buy it and don't maintain it properly because they can't be bothered or those who want it for status symbol but can't really afford it so maintenance lapses.
For a do it all and go anywhere and go wild tank, I find 120k just driven in and a rear diff shouldn't break then. Only after 500k and seeing the globe twice I would expect that to be possible.
My June 2017 DS has now done 60,000 km’s. Been perfect since Day 1. Fantastic vehicle. The updated 2020 MY DS has vastly improved what was already a great vehicle.
as an owner of DS Dynamic, I am so happy not listening to those yelling at reliability. it is so amazing on motorway and also overcoming lots of muddy and floody road. next one surely would buy range rover or discovery again
Bought mine from new 8 months ago, I use it for work, rest and play. had it across deep muddy building sites, across ploughed fields and general farm land, through small ditches and through some dirt track woodlands, used it to motorway cruise form Hampshire to Norfolk then up to Newcastle and across to north Wales in supreme comfort. Then spent a week driving around the mountains in north wales. It Hasn't put a foot wrong yet and no signs of it playing up. I initially had some concerns over people deriding Landrover's reliability but since I got this I have spoken to members of an off road green lane drivers club and they admire the car so I guess I am OK about buying one. "OK about about buying it" ???? That's an understatement .... I absolutely love this vehicle as it perfect for everything that I need or intend to do, (on road or off of it.)
I've just taken a 2017 discovery sport for test drive today. Loved it. Thanks for your comments as I will be doing all the things you say you have done. So you have put my mind at rest now.
Since this video was made, the Discovery Sports have the newer Ingenium engines, which are very quiet, powerful, smooth (especially matched with excellent 9 speed automatic gearbox) and relatively economical. It is an excellent car in just about any road weather condition and on a long trip, it is very comfortable and eats up the miles. At least that is my experience.
I’ve had mine for 2.5 years... I usually keep cars 2 years before moving on. I have no intention of getting rid of my DS even after adding a Model Y sometime this year. My 4yo son wants to go off-roading so I’ve just put BFG KO2’s on. It looks so awesome with that massive tread... it should have come with these tires. My favorite car ever.
He’s right, my disco sport does everything I want and more. The fuel mileage is great compared to my disco II and two years w/o a breakdown. The new ones are much more reliable than the older models. In the USA the petrol model was the only engine option. Nice combination. Tired of the same old carpers on every Land Rover post. Nothing good to say button it. My fourth rover!
“Everyone can be super social In the car by sitting and looking at their tablets” - what have we become? Shouldn’t it be “ everyone can forget about the bloody social media and sit and enjoy this magnificent vehicle in all its glory”
It IS all the trustworthy car you’ll ever need; no fluff, no funky crap, just loads of fun, and layers upon layers of uncompromising performance and heartwarming reliability - and all for an extremely reasonable price. So, if you can afford it, own it.
Can someone explain how Land Rover (and Jaguar) always top the JD power survey for customer satisfaction if they are so unreliable and not as good as people say? Any smart arses out there? Or are we too afraid to admit they make fantastic cars now ?
+Oliver Newell They used to be unreliable, but all their cars at least since Tata took over have pretty good reliability records as far as I know. (To add a bit of anecdotal evidence: I've been driving an Evoque for two years, and so far it feels better built than the Audi I had before. Not a long enough time frame to really judge reliability of course, though I had no issues so far)
Daniel Mewes It is quite an old reputation that Jags and LR's are unreliable or poor quality. Actually, it was just before ford bought JLR that their quality went up, when Jaguar got new management and they gave thier test cars to the police to test for durability. Jags and Land Rover seem beautifully made and thier reliability ratings have always been higher than BMW and Audi, and thier customer satisfaction has been top fo the charts for years now. Under ford Jags were not at their full potential but TATA gave JLR a blank cheque and look, it worked!

I do think they're over priced but that's my opinion, they're selling a significant number of cars so they're doing something right!
+Oliver Newell So do Skoda and Lexus. I can sort of understand why Jaguar do, the dealers fall over themselves. But LR? I still hear too many issues. My colleague's £60k Disco (full size) ha been to the dealer every other week with faults. It has kinda put me off wanting an LR as replacement for my current car.

The problem with clips like this is they lull people into thinking that they need an suv to go offroading when they really need a more capable vehicle. Which is why I will soon be selling my Audi Q5. In Australia trails don't have ratings to help you decide whether or not your vehicle will be damaged if you attempt it. They really should ban clips like this. Land Rover must have paid them a lot of money to produce this.
This is a course set up by Land Rover which they know full well the Discovery Sport can handle. We know this, you know this, why insult our intelligence by acting all surprised when it wades within its wading depth.
