How do i get midi from Bassline Generator to send to a new channel with a diff vst like Juno? I've selected MIDI from "Reason Rack" and in the second drop down where it says Pre FX and Post FX, it doesn't have a "Reason Rack" option for me to select. Thank you!!!
@@OscarUnderdog Yes, i'm using the Reason VST Rack in one channel, but when I go to the new midi channel there isn't the second "Reason Rack" option in the drop down. It just says Pre FX and Post FX. Am I missing something with the way the Bassline Generator is routed in the back of Reason?! Is there a missing step where I have to route the output into a combinator or something?

Great video! I've watched quite a few about the Bassline sequencer in Reason. This is the first I saw that was clear enough so I could understand how I can use it. Will def give it another try now.
This is a great idea. I’ve used Reason since version 3 but never loved it as a standalone DAW. Always had it rewired into Ableton or Pro Tools. Never thought of using the plugin version for it’s sequencers. I have a couple of hardware sequencers (very spoiled in that regard) but even though I’m alright on keys, sequencers like what Reason has generates so many more ideas
this was really inspiring...for someone who cannot play an instrument, this seems like a great way to churn out ideas you can build off. pretty sure im going to have to get this plugin...ugh. lol.
Great video - and very nicely presented. Reason's Players are amazing. IMO, Reason's biggest selling point. The Quad Note Generator, for instance, is a noodler's dream. The flexibility to connect just about anything to these various players blows the whole thing so wide that you might never get beyond one amazing idea - this happens to me all the time. Reason just does stuff and off I go on some new unexpected musical adventure. And I'm not into EDM - my thing is ambient chill (like Wavestate's slowly evolving, dreamy, syncopated sounds). Reason+ with its suite of Players has answered my prayers. I agree - Reason Studios need to push these Players much more - and hopefully develop the possibilities for auto-generated music and beats even further. It's addictive.
Hey! Just upgraded from Reason 11 to 12 including a few Addons as the bassline gen. Have to prepare for some testing in two weeks but afterwards I´ll be so happy to play around with these tools. Can´t wait! Thanks for your inspirational clip.
Hello Oskar 👋... I started producing music with Reason and I loved the Matrix Pattern Sequencer even then. At some point I switched to Logic Pro X and when I heard that Reason instruments and effects can be used as a plugin as well as all MIDI players, I had to think simply upgrade the old license and love having this opportunity for creativity. Although Logic also has a very good step sequencer, the players in the Reason range are ingenious tools for quick results.
Thanks for this awesome video Oscar. I'm just getting into making music and discovering what tools and techniques are available to spark creativity. This is the first of your videos I've watched but I subscribed straight away as you have a very natural way of tutoring. By the way, my favourite beat is the one at 4:56 in the video! Thanks again.
This vid has got me really excited. I love creating music but I tend to program or bang keys until I get something I want. I'm shy of using Max for Live as I have had so many experiences of crashing projects when used. I've got some stalled projects where this can get me going again. I've seen Stochas mentioned in the comments. Are there any recommendations for VST3 sequencers that work in the same way as the Reason example? I particularly like the idea of influencing between on and off beat play. Chord and scale control would be a bonus.
Thanks for sharing the sequencing ideas…. Cadence with cord generation especially. I never thought of using scales&chords to correct the output of step sequencers following a chord progression. I always thought of it as correcting live manual recordings but I hated the one in Reason because it omits notes that define the character of certain modes. What you’ve demonstrated might be the best application for using scales&chords in Reason. I’ll be sure to plug your video in my comments during their next livestream.
One cool sequencer that is free if Reason is out of your price point is Stochas, which has a lot of power on being probabilistic, meaning you can make it a % chance for it to play the note.
