How do i get midi from Bassline Generator to send to a new channel with a diff vst like Juno? I've selected MIDI from "Reason Rack" and in the second drop down where it says Pre FX and Post FX, it doesn't have a "Reason Rack" option for me to select.
Thank you!!!
@@nativitymusic be sure use the vst, not any other format!
@@OscarUnderdog Yes, i'm using the Reason VST Rack in one channel, but when I go to the new midi channel there isn't the second "Reason Rack" option in the drop down. It just says Pre FX and Post FX.
Am I missing something with the way the Bassline Generator is routed in the back of Reason?!
Is there a missing step where I have to route the output into a combinator or something?
Does it make a difference whether I'm using the Reason+ subscription or if I've purchased the Reason 12 for the full price?
I just paid for an annual subscription. Do I need to purchase Reason 12 at full price to unlock this feature?
@@OscarUnderdog Great video. I have been struggling for a number of hours trying to get this to work with the Ableton instruments (Anxious Woofer, a few others), Is this possible using the same technique? Similar to the above question, when I do the routing I don't have the Reason Rack option as the second dropdown. Unfortunately, also a newbie for Ableton. I've selected Reason Rack from the AU plugins. Thanks. Brian
Hey Oskar from Underdog - I've been making music for over 20 years now, very unsuccessfully I must say but with a lot of passion. I must have watched years' worth of tutorials by now mainly because it gives me the great illusion of being as good as you guys teaching us as after all it's easy straightforward when you do it. Having become a pro in tutorial watching I can confirm that you're doing e pretty f....ing respectable job with your vids. So, bottom line all this text for saying thank you and keep on publishing so that in my next life I can spend some of my 20ies and 30ies playing my own techno bangers in clubs around the globe - hopefully before we manage to burn down or suffocate this planet, but I'm diverting from the topic :-D. Cheers!
Hahahah I appreciate this man :D
@@OscarUnderdog Thanks as much - and I shall correct from Oskar to Oscar, how did I miss that the first three letters of your name of course are referencing an OSCillator. Cheers
love this response, made me smile a lot.
We love your dancing, Oscar! 🕺🏻
💃💃💃
Reason is the Best! ever since they developed Standalone Interfaces. Inspiring Developers.
the M4L mono sequencer is still my goto after using live for the last 12 years. straight-forward and powerful.
you have pushed me back into producing with this. Thanks Oskar
Oscar that tune at the end is out of this world! Absolute banger! I'm rewatching this video over and over again. This is by far THE BEST Ableton channel on UA-cam. Respect!
Ow yeeeee :D
How have I only just found this channel?
AMAZE
Incredible stuff here, thank you Oscar!
I'm loving reason more and more, I'm finding it kinda exciting. Great video 😊
@@ReasonStudios I may have a years subscription 🙂
Off topic Oscar but your music theory video was the best i've ever seen. I've watched a lot of them cos for some reason it just wouldn't stick, but you have a gift for explaining things in a sort of chronological way / one step at time kinda way, if you know what I am saying. Keep up the good work my brother
Man this makes me happpyyyyyy :D
then you will love andrew huang's music theory vid!
I agree! This is THE CHANNEL….

Agreed! Superb videos/tutorials! Thank you Oscar :)
That generator is DOPE!!! 🤘😳 Great demo! I was dancing too 🤣
Just watched it till the end. Damn ... so much inspiration! Thanks a lot for sharing
this is dope asf i have to try this
Your videos inspiring me! thanks for all tutorials and a hug from Spain!
Just downloaded the demo as I have not upgraded. But can't believe how good this is. Great info thankyou.
Thank you so much for this discovery!
Another Excellent video.
Great video! I've watched quite a few about the Bassline sequencer in Reason. This is the first I saw that was clear enough so I could understand how I can use it. Will def give it another try now.
Top dancer!! and super inspiring video!!
very clear tutorial as usual, thnx!
Good job. Very informative.
thank you Jhony Sin your review is awesome !! we wait for your new film
👏👏👏👏👏 superb Oscar 👑🏆
This is good man. Thanks.
Thanks for this awesome video Oscar. I'm just getting into making music and discovering what tools and techniques are available to spark creativity. This is the first of your videos I've watched but I subscribed straight away as you have a very natural way of tutoring. By the way, my favourite beat is the one at 4:56 in the video! Thanks again.
Hey! Just upgraded from Reason 11 to 12 including a few Addons as the bassline gen. Have to prepare for some testing in two weeks but afterwards I´ll be so happy to play around with these tools. Can´t wait! Thanks for your inspirational clip.
Regarding the dancing of you in front of the monitor and on your stool:
In dance school (yes, I am a dancer) we call some rtyhm so fancy "you can dance them on your stool!"
So ... no worries! 😀
All the best and keep on making those great educational AND entertaining videos! 🙂
🥰 I do like my fancy rhythms, it's true
very inspiring!
Great tutorial but I'm still coming back here just to see your dance moves :) Thank you :)
Actually used this trial version today and used the midi to a guitar library and it sounds dope af! Like it makes riffs bouncy groovy riffs. It's incredible I'll definitely be buying the full version cos the trail version is limiting
thanks man , very nice ideas here😉
this was really inspiring...for someone who cannot play an instrument, this seems like a great way to churn out ideas you can build off. pretty sure im going to have to get this plugin...ugh. lol.
Wow, that’s amazing
i absolute agree, there is a lack of such good sequencer tools in ableton,
the mono-sequencer is nice but not really stable...so this looks like an incredible fast and useful tool with it easy iteration and groove capabilities ! looks great !
Oh boy... now I want Reason :) great video Oscar!
Amazing Amazing man. Great. Thank u
Cool vid. Thanks for the work.
Excellent!
This is a great idea. I’ve used Reason since version 3 but never loved it as a standalone DAW. Always had it rewired into Ableton or Pro Tools. Never thought of using the plugin version for it’s sequencers. I have a couple of hardware sequencers (very spoiled in that regard) but even though I’m alright on keys, sequencers like what Reason has generates so many more ideas
Nice explanation Johnny Sin 👍
Love your lessons man. As a guitar player that dabbles in Reason, these are brilliant.
Awesome 💯💯💯
Majestic!!! Thx a lot!!! :)
Damn! This is great! I want it for my modular!
Thanks for sharing the sequencing ideas…. Cadence with cord generation especially. I never thought of using scales&chords to correct the output of step sequencers following a chord progression. I always thought of it as correcting live manual recordings but I hated the one in Reason because it omits notes that define the character of certain modes. What you’ve demonstrated might be the best application for using scales&chords in Reason. I’ll be sure to plug your video in my comments during their next livestream.
lol that is the most powerful sequencer I have ever seen, thank you for that :)
Thank you!
Wow this is great. I've had this for about a year and a half since I started on FL Studio. I almost deleted this since I don't use it but this helped with some good ideas Thanks.
This guys a genius
THIS IS AWESOME!!! THANK YOU SIR!!! CHEERS!!! :)
I've started playing around with VCV Rack, which has so many sequencers! So much fun!
Which one is your go to sequencer for repetitive rhythms ?
Get into diy modular synth! Much better having the real thing and relatively inexpensive 🥳
Great video - and very nicely presented. Reason's Players are amazing. IMO, Reason's biggest selling point. The Quad Note Generator, for instance, is a noodler's dream. The flexibility to connect just about anything to these various players blows the whole thing so wide that you might never get beyond one amazing idea - this happens to me all the time. Reason just does stuff and off I go on some new unexpected musical adventure. And I'm not into EDM - my thing is ambient chill (like Wavestate's slowly evolving, dreamy, syncopated sounds). Reason+ with its suite of Players has answered my prayers. I agree - Reason Studios need to push these Players much more - and hopefully develop the possibilities for auto-generated music and beats even further. It's addictive.
Thank you for those kind words.
This is fuking amazing!! Thank you so much for this!!
thanks ! we want more video about reason !!
Fooking awesome!
Good stuff man
yes! thank you!
Fantastic Sequencer! On next Sale, i'll buy it. 😯
mind-blown
Love that bass sound at 6:15
One cool sequencer that is free if Reason is out of your price point is Stochas, which has a lot of power on being probabilistic, meaning you can make it a % chance for it to play the note.
INSANE!!!
This vid has got me really excited. I love creating music but I tend to program or bang keys until I get something I want. I'm shy of using Max for Live as I have had so many experiences of crashing projects when used. I've got some stalled projects where this can get me going again. I've seen Stochas mentioned in the comments. Are there any recommendations for VST3 sequencers that work in the same way as the Reason example? I particularly like the idea of influencing between on and off beat play. Chord and scale control would be a bonus.
I WANT THAT, AWESOME THANK YOU
BRI-LLI-ANT !!! 👍👍
Hello Oskar 👋... I started producing music with Reason and I loved the Matrix Pattern Sequencer even then. At some point I switched to Logic Pro X and when I heard that Reason instruments and effects can be used as a plugin as well as all MIDI players, I had to think simply upgrade the old license and love having this opportunity for creativity. Although Logic also has a very good step sequencer, the players in the Reason range are ingenious tools for quick results.
Ah, finally a video that seems to do justice a bit more to this new Player. It seems to be cool, actually !
3:38 how to fix in Ableton 11 , can't find : just Pre Fx and Post Fx but no Bassline Generator in Midi From ?
Great video Dopela!! Us noobs thank you
yeah! oscar now twice a week!
Yeah!!!! :D
Nice retro Adidas top, nice video too 😎
Wowzers! It's Oscar again :)
Comin' at ya ✨
Haven't used Reason since 2.5, hah it's great to see how far it has come.
Welcome back anytime :)
Been using it since 1.0, Reason is by far the most creative DAW out there, I have never got tired of it even after all these years.
Give it a try again, you'd be surprised :D
I started using it since 2.5 too. So many started at that point. I'm wondering why 2.5 was the start for so many. I can't remember why I started then.
I've never had any use for a sequencer except for programming drum beats (which I don't really do anymore since I only make Hardstyle) but it is really dope.
Haha :)
Yessss!
Yessssss!!!!
nice
j'adore tes vidéos Oscar :) un petit bonjour from Rijsel :)
Am I the only one thinking this dude looks like Fabian Mazur?
Great Tutorial!
If you have the Reason side browser open by default you get a list of all your devices to drag n drop, easier than menu diving.
your hand gesture game is as a seasoned politician
😅
Underdog - Just ✨imagine✨ it
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Man that first line 💥 - what's some good similar sequencer alternatives to this Reason one?
That thing sounds like it writes better basslines than I do. And I'm sure there's similar programs for drums, and everything else. I'm mentally preparing for the day when my retired mother plays me the hit EDM club banger she made for shits and giggles with a few mouse clicks.
Man, I'm still using Reason 10. I need to upgrade to get that bass line generator. That is so freaking powerful.
no need to upgrade, you can buy it separately for 64 gb pounds
@@hdj808 Hi here, it is interesting tool!!! Do you know please if the BASSLINE GENERATOR is working independently for any DAW //logic X Mac OS// without REASON STUDIOS? Or you have to use only through the Reason Studio? Thank you for your reply
@@ivansaxo no idea sorry, it's unlikely I think but I could be wrong, I usually am.
It's on sale now for $45.
@@kjwworldwide ah you're a legend. Thanks for the message
Yes!!!
Yes!
@@OscarUnderdog thank you, fantastic video, now can’t wait to get home from work to try out the bassline generator. Looks epic.
Just what i needed, Thanks. Learning a lot in this chanel. Also im from latin america and my english its not advanced but i can understand everything!
Can you please share how you made the very first pattern in this video? Amazing one)
I think your Vlisco Acoustic Panels are very original. I wonder how you came up with that. This is of course an unusual use of these beautiful designs.
Is it possible to create several patterns and then "save" each one in a separate clip in the session view, to use them as loops? You could register them in the arrangement view and then make your clips but I was wondering if there's an easier way.
that's how I've always used the matrix pattern sequencer. Erased the inappropriate notes. Of course it's more convenient that way. Cheers
Amazing video and tool for productions!!!! is there any way i can purchase the Reason Rack as an VST Plug in? or do i have to get the whole DAW? is the Bassline generator included in the bundle?
You can subscribe to Reason+ which gives you everything -- including the DAW and the Rack VST. You also get every plugin/device we make, including of course Bassline Generator.
@@ReasonStudios So Bass line Generator cannot be bought as one plugin/insturment only?
Thanks for emphasizing where "Players" show up in Reason's VST within Ableton. I missed that.
Thanks for pointing this out, this is something we should improve for sure!
This has been my biggest complaint with Ableton for years now. I wish they had native sequencers for drum synths and bass synths and leads.
well, you could kinda call m4l native nowadays, but i get it. the m4l mono sequencer is top notch if you want a straight forward tool, such a great sequencer.
@@rftm any recommendations?
Hello Oscar, thanks for all the boss videos! On the second drop down box I do not have the Reason Rack Plug in option, only pre and post effects. Do you know why?
Use the vst, not the au!
@@OscarUnderdog amazing thanks so much!
@@OscarUnderdog I have the same problem, but I’m n Ableton there is no Reason Rack Plug-in in my VST Dropdown-Menu. I can only see it in Audio Units. Do you know why?
Hello Oscar, must i buy the Reason Full Programm to use these Reason Rack Plugins or is it a extension which i can bye alone?
You need to get all of Reason, which includes both the plugin and standalone DAW. You can buy Reason 12 and the Bassline Generator separately, or just get a Reason+ subscription which gives you everything we make (and will ever make).
@@ReasonStudios When I buy bassline generator (74€) I can‘t use it unless I also buy Reason (499€) or subscribe Reason+ (20€/month).
Is that correct?
I really wish theyd put more routings on the back to allow external patterns to influence the bassline
I’m slightly confused, if someone could help me please.
To get the Reason Rack you have to buy the full studio? Or is the Reason Rack an available as a separate VST? 😅
Move's like Jagger! 👌😅
Is there any similar VST to this sequencer?
So is the baseline plugin something I have to buy in addition to paying for Reason or is it part of an update?
If you already own Reason, you can buy Bassline Generator in the shop. Otherwise it's included with everything else we make in a Reason+ subscription.
