      I’m not sure if you know this or not, but an omelette is the hardest thing to make correctly to chef specifications. It’s so hard, in fact, that it’s a common practice in an interview for a potential chef to make an omelette on the spot, because it’s a true test of culinary skill!

    Tyler is the ultimate example of knowing vs understanding.
    I "know" how to forge a sword and sharpen it to fine edge. But if you put me in front of a forge and hand me a hammer and billet of steel, I'm going to make you a crooked mess with a dozen cracks in it and an edge that would make a butter knife look like a razor.
    Just because I know the steps doesn't mean I have the understanding of how to bring that knowledge to bear.

    • @coreythepeanut
      @coreythepeanut Місяць тому +39

      Indeed. Tyler believed that because he knew the taste and complexities of Slowik’s work, he could hope to replicate it. But knowing how it’s made is not the same as being able to make it yourself, and especially not make your own dish. When given the opportunity to make absolutely anything, he chose not to go simple, but to try and fail to create something that could stand up to Slowik’s cooking. Slowik quickly and very harshly reminded him that he is nothing more than what a wine taster is to a winemaker. Someone to please, if that, as he’d gladly put anything Slowik put on a plate in his mouth. He’s like a child, eager to please and willing to take anything Slowik gives him. Worshipping him. That’s why Slowik told him to do what he did. Tyler would ruin his masterpiece, the dessert.

As a professional, he made the best burger possible to Margot's request (no fancy bs) amd a perfectionist like him wouldn't dilute the quality of the meal simply to poison her as it wouldn't be teaching her a lesson. Chef wasn't killing everyone for the sake of it. It was to make a scene about the state of fine dining. Immediately after Tyler is shamed and walks off the chef tells Margot 'now you're free'.
