In the movie, you can also see Joy add in a few dashes of Chinkiang vinegar (Chinese black rice vinegar) which I highly recommend - it also helps cut some of the oiliness and saltiness. I can spot the bottle from a mile away, one of my favorites and a staple in my family's kitchen! I remember seeing this scene and FREAKING OUT that you can see them using this specific vinegar. It lived next to the stove in my mom's kitchen along with salt, chicken bullion powder, white pepper, soy sauce, and peanut oil.
it lives in my kitchen, too! very distinctive bottle and label. balsamic is never a substitute for real Chinese black vinegar, IMO.
Same
Thanks for pointing this out. I love this movie.
Yes yes and yes!
Me: *reads this comment*.....'hmmm gona go check my kitchen.'
Yup can confirm. I got it too. 2 bottles even.
I would love to see Babish try and tackle making the "Hotdog Fingers" from the movie lol
You mean King Charles?
That's just babish rubbing bananas on his hands
bruh, that's cannibalism
Must have the squirting mustard + ketchup
He never will. He's long since stopped doing fun/crazy foods.
Thank you for referencing Chef Wang’s recipe for scallion oil noodles. He’s arguably the best chef for Chinese cuisine here on UA-cam and I wish a lot more people saw his scrumptious creations.
That's a much more fiddly way of doing the hand pulled noodles than the folks at the noodle shops I used to go to when I lived in China used. They'd slice off a chunk of dough, roll it into a cylinder, stretch, fold, stretch, fold, etc until they had a bunch of noodles. No-one ever sliced and made each noodle individually.
They'd make a decently wide range of noodle types simply by how they held their fingers when stretching the noodles out and by how many times they stretched and folded.
They are experts. They have been doing that in their culture for thousands of years. Give the guy a break!
He's actually tried that before, funnily enough! Earlier in the channel when he was making the soup from Kung Fu Panda I believe... Yeah, he's really bad at tossing noodles.
Depends on what kind of noodles you're making! The noodles Babish is making seems to be some kind of Biang biang noodles, where you whack and stretch the dough cut into individual noodles.
Note, this works great with all kinds of Italian pasta shapes too. The aldente adds another touch of greatness. Also, MSG is missing for those who need it.
Lackin in MSG, shame on wok, shame on family
There's always msg in the soy, when in dounle just add other aromatics like a clove of garlic or a pinch chilli flakes would work wonders
A friend advised me that oyster sauce works if you can’t get dark soy sauce. Can confirm it is delicious and has that umami you want.
Congrats to Everything Everywhere All at Once for its Oscar sweep, especially to Michelle Yeoh.
Every single time the cast/crew went up to the stage after winning, I burst into tears. They all deserve the win so much, the film is absolutely incredible!!
But everyone including me is kinda salty that Jamie Lee got the win for best supporting actress which is unfair for Stephanie Hsu and Angela Bassett
@@holybananapeel3795 Nothing we can do about it unfortunately, We can just be happy most of EEAAO won well deserved oscars
Michelle Yeah did absolutely nothing to deserve the award. Every other category; supporting cast, screenplay, directing, yes absolutely.
But best lead actress? Her performance was hardly anything to scoff at.
And Jamie Lee Curtis snubbing Basset and Hsu, that's another let down.
@@holybananapeel3795 on top of Kerry Condon AND Hong Chau’s fantastic performances. Stacked category so I’m a lil salty too hehe
Usually I just watch babish videos and admire the results but this (the first iteration) seems easy enough and deliciously compelling enough that I think I’m gonna make it
as another commenter said italian noodles work too! definitely going to make this with some spaghetti noodles when i can get my hands on some light soy sauce
Currently eating this, it’s delicious!
@@malagrug4326Two tips: First, if you're using spaghetti, add a little baking soda to the pasta water (a tsp or two per liter will do). It infuses some of the alkaline nature of proper ramen noodles into the spaghetti. Second, Japanese soy sauce is close enough to Chinese light soy sauce you can use it as a substitute and likely never notice the difference.
@@MythicFox oh thank you so much for the tip! looks like i don’t have to go searching for ingredients after all!!!
I'm glad Andrew shares these dishes with the rest of the crews when he does this; It adds to the friendly aspect the crew has, as well as it shines a light on the hard work Andrew had culminated over the years he's been doing this. Here Here, to BWB!
Gosh, scallion noodles always look so tasty and somehow I still haven't made them. I love Chinese dishes.
I've been making these for about 2 months now and I cannot recommend them highly enough! And the fact they're so extremely simple to make too is perfect for someone in college like me if you want a quick yet super delicious meal
Definitely worth. Just make sure that if you have leftovers, air tight container and must eat within 2 days. Noodles be porous and hold onto bacteria easily.
*"In another life, I would just watch your videos and eat ramen noodle packs with you."*
That's literally what I'm doing now.
i dont know what i just read and i do not understand
@@thermobarickitten1062 reference to line from the movie
@@thermobarickitten1062 "In another life, I would have loved doing laundry and taxes with you." The reason Ke Huy Quan is now an oscar winner.
@@bird4260 oh makes more sense
I'm about to start my Ramen noodle pack as well! Cheers!
you made my hungry❤
made my hungry too deadass no cap fr fr

This is actually perfect. This is just the recipe I needed! Both versions are so helpful!
A film that deserves the highest award the industry can bestow: Multiple Babish ephisodes.
A two version babish recipe?! We're so back
Or even three and counting
Not that we ever went anywhere
bad meme is bad
@@hammygames077 big true but we're so back
One of my favorite variations of this is adding dried tomatoes and some cut nori for additional funk. Amazing recipe.
it's amazing how simple this recipe is! and frusterating that I NEVER would have thought of something like this! Onions (of any kind), Alliums (optional)(of any kind), noodles, soy sauce, sugar, fresh garnish. DONE. WOW.
I have all of these things in my kitchen almost all of the time. never would have thought of this!
I’d love to see you make Waymonds cookies also, even if the recipe might be too simple
it would make a fairly wholesome april fools video
I haven’t seen this movie, but I know that James Hong is in it and I’m just recalling him as Po’s goose dad in Kung Fu Panda saying “we are noodle folk.” 😂
Of course he is. It's easier to list the movies that James Hong _isn't_ in.
@Belgand I wish that were true. Unfortunately, unless you were raised on movies that weren't mainstream Hollywood like myself and most other white kids, you likely also missed out on his work until Kung-fu Panda. I'm glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves! The lack of inclusion in mainstream media is criminal.
My disappointment that the video didn't end with Andy somehow having made an everything bagel is immeasurable.
Note from China: the 拉麵 cooks just roll out the dough ball into a snake and do the pull-and-fold with that. No slicing necessary. The I pulled ends *do* get cut off though.
It’s also insanely hard to master, so I can forgive Andrew for taking a shortcut here.
I needed this, growing up in China, this is an extremely nostalgic dish that brings me comfort and familiarity everytime I try it.
Hey Andrew! I've been re-reading Calvin and Hobbes recently and I've always been curious about Calvin's favorite cereal: Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs. Apparently one bowl is your 100% recommended daily intake of caffeine. Also, I've always been curious about how you make cereal. So doing a cereal from scratch sounds like fun!
That would be amazing!!!
Could do a tuna fish sandwich in the same episode
@@abigcupofwater Hobbes wants triple anchovies.
Childhood memory unlocked. Thank you.
It's better if you use cola instead of milk
I love the part when Babish said “it’s noodlin’ time” and noodled all over the place
Such a great dish that is also iconic in its own way.
Wow, that's close to the German version. In Germany we need garlic and/or onions instead of spring onions; instead of oil we work with butter. And instead of soy sauce we use liquid Maggi seasoning. But not so much. A tablespoonful of Maggi is more than enough.
Sometimes we leave out the garlic and onions if we want it to go very quickly. It's absolutely fantastic.
Looks amazing! Missed these videos. I'll definitely give this a try.
Everything everywhere all at once is a master piece, thanks for dedicating this episode to the Scallion Noodles from it
It's over rated.
Overrated film imo.
Over rated
You know it's a masterpiece when all of the salty terminally online folks call it "overrated"
@@fyrusgrey5153 No
I used to eat these all the time when I was younger and I still make this dish at home. It’s so easy to make and worth the hype. Thanks for dedicating this dish to one of the best movies of all time. ❤
I love udon noodles in frozen dinners but I never actually boiled them myself before, but I've been wanting to. I just bought a package of them and until now I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it. I think this is the first Binging With Babish recipe I'm actually going to make. (But obviously, I'm going to skip making the noodles from scratch, though.)
Simple, yet appetizing. As a man living in an Asian Household, I’m gonna try making these once I get the chance. 👍
Andy, you never disappoint. Can you please do a _Basics_ on cheesecake? Maybe 3 varieties on it like New York style, cherry, and chocolate?
Seconded but do New York, French (aka whipped), and Ricotta/Italian.
Rewatched this last night. Today I realized it was scallion noodles she was making and came on to find this gem.
The noodles worked! Well done. It's so satisfying when they work, isn't it?
Will be stealing that line, "adds the flavor of accomplishment". Great job, please keep up the great work.
The flavour of accomplishment will be my new favourite saying while cooking!
I DESPERATELY need a compilation of all Babish clips saying "lightly floured work surface"
I would love to try it
This looks amazing, gonna try it tonight
Update: unsurprisingly, they rock
Man, I can never get over how well made these videos are. You bring such great recipes and techniques to all of us. I know everyone appreciates these as much as I do.
Thanks Babbish!
I am glad to see this Recipe it's amazing
Looks amazing
“It’s noodling time!” Sounds like something Po and his Dad would say in Kung Fu Panda! Even Naruto would say something like that when he eats his favorite ramen! The phrase would look cool on a t-shirt! Great episode Andy and congrats to the cast of Everything, Everywhere All At Once!
Can you make the La-Zitt balls from the Harley Quinn Valentines Day special episode? I am curious to see how they are made.
Glad these videos are back, I missed the babish vids
I'm definitely gonna try both of these (minus the noods from scratch part💀)
Started making these after picking up the Wok by J Kenji Lopez-Alt, and it's pretty much a weekly staple. It gets better the more you eat and it's so easy!
I love how babish said "Its noodling time" and then noodled everywhere
This looks amazing, gonna try it tonight
Amazing recipies ❤️
A dish that's simple enough that I won't feel completely overwhelmed after making pasta by hand. Yay!
There's a universe out there where Babish conquered the world with Tiny Whisk.
I hope there's also one where his fingers are Tiny Whisk.
I would probably adjust the ratio of noodles and sauce for myself (more noodles or less sauce), but it looks pretty nice. 🙂👍🏼
It's classic poverty food. Just do whatever fits your budget and desires.
Looks perfect
What a great receipe
Instead of lao mien, for next time I'd suggest using just white rice noodles. They are very slim and give off a smooth slurping experience, and because they are so simple and don't have flavor, the sauce adheres more and you get a nice dining experience altogether between the savory, aromatic sauce and the smooth slurping
gonna have to try a gluten free version of this cause that looks and sounds amazing!
Lovely recipe
Easy and delicious recipe
Nice, right before work.
I love babish, and I love him even more knowing he hits elf bars 😂 6:30
Gonna have to see this Salisbury Steak you mentioned sometime.
must be nice being Babish crews, you get paid and also get some of his cooking after he's done, man I am drooling just by imagining the after-shows
I love how Everything Everywhere All at Once said “it’s sweepin’ time” and swept the Oscars before our very eyes
UA-cam commenters trying to think of an original joke:
Scallion noodles is my go to quick easy meal. No matter how hard the day, it's nice and easy and makes you feel better. If you crisp up the noods, even better.
Love to see Babish try to fancy up the "Everything" Bagel from the Movie 😁🥰
I love the part when Babish said “it’s noodlin’ time” and noodled all over the place😁😁
“If I had nickel for every time Babish did an episode based on a film that just won an Oscar, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but Irs weird that it happened twice “
I love when Babish said “It’s noodlin time” and noodled all over the kitchen counter

Great movie and a great meal
I adore EEAAO. Saw it early in IMAX in the UK and it was incredible. One of the best movies I've ever seen.
This is very easy to make, minus the hand-pulled noodle part, and delicious too!
Honestly, the 15 minutes of kneading is far more complicated. The hand pulling is the best part, aside from eating them of course.
Peeped the Elf Bar when you snagged a last bite 😂
I miss when u out the recipes in the description :(
yummy
The caviar dish from “you’ve got mail” needs to happen 😊
Very tasty and easy Noodles recipe
Love this channel been watching for years
An Oscar winning Noodle
I'd thought we need to start a few months in advance by growing our own scallions this time... But we're just making noodles.
Looks Beautiful
Everything everywhere all at once with everything from everywhere that exists on this plant that happens to be conceivable and tangible like everything else
I hope Uncle Roger watches and reviews this.
Id love to see you make more Star Wars foods! Maybe the Mantell Mix from The Bad Batch???
This is actullay perfect
Babish has been uploading a lot recently he really cares about our entertainment
By the way, Michelle Yeoh got The Oscars Best Actress.
This is so tempting😋
I will try it at home
PLEASE do a collaboration with Uncle Roger!

EEAAO easily is my favorite movie of all time. Only movie that has made me ball my eyes out 😭
It’s certainly not the only movie that has made me cry… but it is my favorite as well.
