I am sure Pat Mcgrath has been kidnapped & she's giving out none of her secrets!! The kidnappers are forced to just re-arrange the packaging and sell them as her ideas 😂😉
I think the desire to buy the latest and best has to do with our own insecurities and the promise of ‘perfection’. I’m someone who tends to stick with products that work, until they don’t. I also don’t collect for the sake of collecting an entire brands offerings. I also research and wait at least a month after a release for purchasing. I want to see how it works for others after the initial hype and ‘viral’ wave. Often that’s enough to take it off my list.
I'm on a low, low buy and I have taken my consumer debt from $6,800 to $1,500 - by the first pay week of March I will be debt free! ❤🎉 Thank you for keeping consumption down and ALWAYS making these "you do not need that!" videos 🥺❤️
Doing a year long no buy since Black Friday. Finding myself building better relationships with the makeup I already have since I’m not always focused on what’s coming. Experimenting more, exploring techniques and trying corners of palettes I’ve always ignored. Your advice to wait a few weeks is key. I’m letting myself keep a wishlist but I notice that when I add to it the older items on the list have lost their allure. Makeup expires, separates, and becomes very expensive garbage. I’m enjoying trying to use things up!
🙌 Good for you! I add to my wishlist then wait for the Sephora sale. It gives me a months-long cool down period. Right before the sale, I revisit my list and edit, edit, edit. If I see a beauty guru still using a product months later, then I know it's good and not just hype. (For instance Charlotte & her TF primer. I KNOW she really loves that!) That tells me more than words could say. Also if I want to feel inspired by my older makeup, I revisit a YT of it. (Say, an Hourglass palette) That brings me joy and I remember why fell in love with it . Happy shopping your stash! 💖
I am trying to do this for eye shadow. I literally have more eye shadow palettes than I can use for the rest of my life and not hit pan. I go between being disgusted with the amount of money I have spent to thinking I have to have whatever is new. What makes it worse is that I work from home and I know my dogs don't care if I'm wearing Chanel or ELF LOL!
You can also have a couple of no makeup days, and just allow those days to let your skin care sit on your face and do its work.. I did that for 2 or 3 day intervals a couple times last year? And the difference was very noticeable!
I knew I was a fan when there was a turtle tangent. I AGREE TURTLES ARE SO GOOD. And YES I am exactly the sort of person who would get excited by a golden sea turtle.
I love this series. You see so many content creators nowadays pushing products like the masses have the money to spend on them without getting in debt. My solution was that my birthday is coming up so I out sourced this to my fiancé lol 😂
Once upon a time I purchased an eyeshadow trio and two singles from chantecaille and they were literally the worst eyeshadows I have ever owned. I’m traumatized by it and will never trust their eyeshadows again.
I love this video format and I am super grateful that you keep reminding me that it's just makeup and that it is (mostly) very expensive. Theoretically, I shouldn't even watch all your other videos because they naturally make me want to buy everything you review. I'm sure it's not just me who finds it hard to resist and realize that I'm just a normal woman who only has one face. I will do my very best to constantly remind myself to first look in my draw before I will buy something new this year. My goal is to empty the stuff I have (or at least hit pan) and then reward myself with something new. (Fingers crossed 🤞🏼!) Love Sabine 😘
I bought the Chanel blushes- all 3. The Mauve Glace (berry) was a value added to my collection as it's the perfect neutral subtle berry for my fair complexion. But I could have passed on the other two. They are quite subtle in pigmentation but I like the sheen. But yeah, think they should be a pass for most.
Thank God. I wanted to get some stuff and my husband kept asking, when is that video about not needing any of that coming out. I am not sure if I should tell him that your video is here or not lol.
I love these videos! I took the part about concealers very personally… and I think I needed it! As for the Louboutin foundation, even the shade you put up on the screen looked odd to me - like I can’t think of anyone that has this skintone… waiting with popcorn for the reviews!
I could no more afford the makeup you review than fly to the moon 🌝 However I enjoy your review style especially “you don’t need this”, as I can apply your words to my low end makeup temptations. God bless you in this new year. 🎉❤
Hi Charolette! Your skin & blush are beautiful today! I enjoy these. "You Do Not Need That" videos! I am in agreement with you. Makeup adds up before we know it!
Im constantly saying "I don't need that" and it's true so true. When you say it, I believe it, when I say it I feel like I'm trying to trick myself lol🎉 I'm the one that needs this😂 Thanks❣️
Charlotte, I fell for the Les Beiges collection but I DIDN’T buy the primer! Also I saw your IG post about being frustrated and I bet it’s about the “new” PMG collection, right? Don’t worry! I promise I have no desire to buy it! I’m running the other way! 😂 I too almost fell for the TF collection but then I slapped my hand and stood firm. I LOVE THESE VIDEOS! You are hilarious and also so good for us, keeping us under control! Love to you and the fam, have a great weekend! ❤❤❤
As someone who normally doesn’t give a flying flip about packaging beyond whether or not it is durable enough not to break to easily i hate to say it but the Louboutin foundation bottle and cap pulled me in at least enough to consider finding out more about it 😆
Oh, Charlotte...you're the best! I nearly spit out my coffee and literally laughed out loud listening to you talk about the turtles. 'I love a turtle as much as the next guy...' 🤣😂
I had a better experience with the mini blush by Natasha. Its a top of drawer favorite for me right now. It just shows how everone can have different experiences with the same products.
I love you and this series! I did fall for the Chanel snowflake but I'm not sorry. It's very pretty packaging, LoL. That's what my purchases are this year, cuz I don't need anything. But still love to look and buy. I thought I'd do a no buy year, but reality says nope let's try for a low buy year. Thanks for all your work.
I bought the light pink Chanel Blush ( Rose Polaire) and it doesn’t really show up on my light medium winter skin! It’s pretty, but I did not need it!! You are so right on the time out to see if we really need something. Also Pat’s new year & valentines launch containing re-promotes is good for the budget, bad for the makeup soul 🥺
I bought that Chanel primer, I agree nothing special but I actually had a reaction from it and therefore returned it. Otherwise I would of wore it exactly how you said, for a bit of glow on non makeup days! The blushes tho I couldn’t resist….i got two, the ones that have the beautiful radiant look burn my face (must be a ingredient I’m allergic/sensitive too) but these I can wear. I am super fair and struggle when winter comes getting nice blushes that don’t make me look like a clown and these are perfect! Everything else tho that I was looking at that was on your list, I will not be buying, your rationale is great!!! Altho I really wanna try that Tom ford blush 🤦🏼♀️. If it goes on sale I might grab it later this spring.
Love this! It just reaffirms my commitment to restrained makeup purchases these days. I went kind of mad during the pandemic thanks to Poshmark (but I'm exceedingly picky and tried to buy unused or barely used items). Not that I doubt Charlotte's word about Lisa's stuff, but still. Anyway. I don't know. I just know she's "up my street". Love you Charlotte!
Oh, Charlotte I really do think I need the Chantecaille Turtle eyeshadow palette, the green one, of course! The Packaging is so so pretty and different from anything I have .. is that a good enough excuse? Thinking🧐.. I SAY YES. 😄
My favorite video on UA-cam in a loooong time! Love the authenticity & how real you communicate why we don’t need these releases. Watching your video is like listening to your bff talk you off a ledge 😂 ❤
I've always appreciated this series. That's even more so this year because I am one of those who have committed to a low-buy or no-buy year. You are our support structure for sticking to it. I spent about a third as much on makeup this month as I did last January but I could feel myself slipping. Your video came at just the right time My resolve is renewed!
The Mario lipsticks I must say are fabulous. I found a cherry shade that is just unusual and I'm a lipstick queen. My fav thing to buy. I am interested in Geurlain ok and skip the rest. 😅
I don’t know how long I’ve been a subscriber, but I do know that my reason was for high-end reviews. I love watching content that shows me what these products are really like. While I CAN afford these brands, I’m a “WON’T afford” person. This video was so refreshing-I enjoyed every second of it!!
Hi Charlotte, I very much appreciate your honesty and advice for us on these products, i love when you say give yourself a few weeks of thoughts on a particular product and if your still obsessed after this period of time ,then consider buying it or words to that effect. Love Katherine xoxo
20:44 i think that sisleys blushes are in the same price range. And they're just like any other blush. Except for the butterfly embossing that looks cute. I've always regretted buying it. 😏🤷♀️
What you said about the Gucci plumping glosses is what I feel about Rare Beauty lip oils. They are absolutely lovely, but you only need one. No matter how different the color looks when you first are smoothing it on, but the time you've let it dry 10 seconds it will be the same (albeit lovely) color on your lips. I'm so glad I have one, but regret buying 2.
What I really need help with is resisting the bone deep need to get the Guerlain Tobacco & Honey. Your description was exactly the kind of scent I’m looking for. At this point, I’ve been wearing VS Heavenly for well over 20 years, and I need something new. I can’t seem to find anything close, though. Ugh! Help? Please? Pretty please?
Same! I got a sample of the Guerlain T & H, and it is such a beautiful scent on me-but since it only comes in one size right now ($340), there’s just no way. Hopefully they’ll come out with a travel sized bottle for us!
You’re so right about the Mario lipsticks. Unfortunately I didn’t watch your video first! Bought the neutral pink and surprise, surprise, it’s just like all the other neutral pinks I already have!
I really hope you’re going to read my comment, I just wanted to tell you that I hardly ever wear make up just a little bit of lipstick and foundation sometimes, but I literally adore your videos, I just I’m just here for your personality !
Ohhh 😅, that is not ok because Chanel have some very good products, I really love their foundations (ultra le teint, velvet, les beiges healthy glow and water fresh tint) loose powder, cream bronzer and le volume mascara 😊❤
@@katam3310 I did buy the Les Beiges eye shadow palette in Cool, a eye liner and the mascara at the same time I got primer. I do like the other products. The primer though was just ok for me, not $50 good lol!
I think this is my favorite series of yours, and I love them all! I am on a low-buy/replacement-only buy this year. I want to enjoy the collection I already have without adding a bunch of new products that I probably don't really need.
i loveeee this series soooo much!!! i’ve been on a no buy since last year, and it’s taught me so much about myself. i never got the my dream collection last year, but i do reallllly want the mini dream palette and cheek palette. it looks like my perfect everyday palette, blush, and highlighter. pmg has gotten extremely boring and repetitive. her new quad does nothing for me, but the lipsticks look STUNNING!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Thank fully I have lost all interest in buying any new makeup as I have learnt now that it’s all pretty much the same in the end…still like the reinforcement though 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I felt like you were talking straight to me on the concealer rant 😂 Thanks as always for the reality check. That TF blush does tempt me and Honeymoon was one I was eyeing for a long time but I bought it last fall. Had I not though.. that red packaging might have done it.
Thank you so much for this video. I needed this I am trying to buy less make up and skin care and use and enjoy things I already purchased which is a lot. 😂I need to take a step back because I was always looking at was is coming and hardly touched things I bought. The CT your words about that are so true. My first impuls reaction was I need to get this. But kept strong did not order it and after a few days and checking my stash I realised I did not need this at all. Thank you so much for doing these video and being so truthful and making me laugh. ❤😂
Don't feel bad Charlotte. I was so confused on CL Baum swatches, I ended up buying three. SMH I got sucked in but happy with Baum. I can make all three work too 😊
I agree with almost everything you've said. I love these videos. I almost bought Mimirose by Dior this morning out of FOMO. So I needed a good talking to, and here you are! So many mediocre products, so much money. And so much Temptation! The Natasha Denona eye and lip certainly aren't ground breaking. After seeing reviews, I think these products look better on Fair to Light skin tones. Which is perfect for me, but not that great for many. The comparison people make to I Need a Nude is valid. But the My Dream blush palette isn't that great, and a small palette is easier than her Midis if you're in a hurry. Several UA-camrs have codes for 15% off which makes the price more tolerable and I'll use this. So I don't feel guilty. But you are dead right about all of these products. Thank you for talking me down. I have my cap set for the SUQQU Spring '24 eye palettes. Hoping I don't miss those. But do I really need them?Hmmm........Thanks for the video. 💚
I’m literally obsessed with the his series! These are my FAV videos on UA-cam! Thank you for talking us all down from our temptations

Sea turtles might be delightful, but you are a joy. This video provides a public service! So great. Thank you.
I was dying to get my hands on the Chanel primer but it sold out and I don’t think it’s coming back so now I don’t care! Thank you Charlotte!😍😍

same! Bought a couple singles a while ago and learned my lesson
Thank you!!! I keep believing Magic could happen
Chantecaille isn’t that great in my opinion either and thank God! With the prices they’ve got going on.
And their blushes are dry and dusty. Worst money I've ever spent.
I like their face powder and bronzer. And the lip chics but they’re so pricey

I got the ND little palette set, and i love it! It's purse sized and travel friendly, as well as perfect to wear to my daughter's wedding.
I love a good snorkel with a sea turtle - quote of the year! 😂😂😂🐢🐢🐢

Hi Tracy, what’s your opinion on the Chanel winter glow blush? x
@@claire.de.lune__I love it, I got the Mauve Glace and it’s a color that I didn’t already have. It’s lovely!

I’ve never laughed so much! You are so so funny!!!
Highlight of 2024 so far: you saying ‘…moisturiser’. Gold!
What a fun video, but also so good , these always are, thanks dear Charlotte!!!👍👍🤩🤩🤩🤩
Your information is very true and unbiased. You saved me money from buying stuff that I have too much of.
Thanks to the author for a great video and useful video 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Love this series, Charlotte. Never ever stop these videos, very helpful.
0:09 when she said that im already convinced
I love this series!!! You always make me laugh! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Just found you, so happy. You're so honest & fun. Love from Australia.
I think this is my favorite series of yours, and I love them all! I am on a low-buy/replacement-only buy this year. I want to enjoy the collection I already have without adding a bunch of new products that I probably don't really need.
Hahahaha……this might be my husband’s favourite series- he would like you to live in my head 😂
This is always so much fun!
Xo 🇨🇦
I actually like NDs mini blush.
Thank you!!!
I need you to do this on all aspects of my life. lol ❤😂
i loveeee this series soooo much!!! i’ve been on a no buy since last year, and it’s taught me so much about myself. i never got the my dream collection last year, but i do reallllly want the mini dream palette and cheek palette. it looks like my perfect everyday palette, blush, and highlighter. pmg has gotten extremely boring and repetitive. her new quad does nothing for me, but the lipsticks look STUNNING!!! ♥️♥️♥️
I do LOVE the Mario lipsticks! 😅
Love your eye shadow
Thank fully I have lost all interest in buying any new makeup as I have learnt now that it’s all pretty much the same in the end…still like the reinforcement though 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
this is my favorite series :)
Looooooooove this series!
My fav series ❤❤
I can make all three work too 😊
Preaching truth 🙌
This hair though?! Giving me ginger Spice vibes 🧡 Love a 90's throwback!
LOVE ❤️ your hair!
These are my favorite videos you make ❤️
I agree with almost everything you've said.
You are sooo right on all of it
