Am I the only one who hates how tik tok (social media in general tbh) is now just ad after ad or people trying to sell you something? It making me use tiktok less and less. 😅
Ever since TikTok Shop became a thing, I can barely stand TikTok. Every other video is an advertisement or someone promoting a random product that I’m never gonna buy
For the strawberry dress, pair it with a soft white blouse underneath. Think renaissance fair. And girrrrrl, you don’t need no occasion. It’s a casual dress. Expensive yes…but casual. Wear it anywhere! Grocery store. Park. As long as it’s daytime, you’re in the clear.
Agreed. It's a pretty casual dress. Just wear it anywhere. A billowy top underneath or a cardigan over top, or dressed up for warm weather with fun accessories.
That was my thought too. Like I'll just wear my vintage striped blue/white button down dress around looking straight out of the 1950s and love every second of it.
@@abanana96 yes 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I have collected vintage dresses for almost a decade and I've worked in a vintage shop for over a year. I wear vintage just to the grocery store. I don't need a special occasion, I AM the special occasion 😂
even a turtleneck would look good. and it's long enough that you could wear leggings tucked into boots underneath and no one would know. i think it's actually pretty versatile
Its insanely privileged behavior. To have clothes that are over $100 & make up incredibly stupid excuses & choose not to wear them unless there is a special occasion, Why?! When owning a beautiful floor length dress like that, it's just daft to put restrictions on when & where she wears it. Any day can be a special day if she wants it to be, she just needs to actively choose to wear & style the dress & not get stuck in the mindset of it being a "Special Occasion Dress" & put it in the center of her closet; She could also Pre-style it and put it on the rack, so she'll be more inclined to wear it if she sees it all in one place.
Sometimes, despite all of the reasons you SHOULD wear your fancy clothes, they may not feel inviting or comfortable. So, maybe we just need to forgive ourselves and each other for not wearing our expensive, impractical clothes.
I was thinking that strawberry dress would’ve great to wear for this video🥰🤣😵💫. But I’ve done things like that before where it was expensive so I was “saving it” for a “special” occasion. Girl you woke up today and that is special enough. Put those strawberries on! 🍓💃🏼. Way to cold by me today for anything not layered. You should challenge yourself to style these unworn items for multiple seasons❗️✅♻️❤️
The pan’s marketing is exactly what turned me off of that product. They tried WAY too hard to show that it can do what all of my other pans do- use heat to cook things. And then the way every influencer began popping up with it told me even more than I already knew.
I think the pan is the number one "it's not worth it" item I've seen in UA-cam videos. It's too heavy and too loud. Sure, it's pretty. But it's not at all the quality that they claim and it's super impractical. And apparently it takes a very long time to cool down and the handle gets hot so it's dangerous
@@daniellemartin9896 it's not the handle that gets hot, which would at least be a big reminder - it's this weird little connecting bit between the handle and the pan, which is so small and forgettable you definitely are much more likely to accidentally touch it! and it is HOT
As someone with flat feet, Dr Martens are super comfortable and I wear them basically everywhere. Many of my friends who don't have flat feet find them very uncomfortable and can't wear them for long. Maybe that could be a factor? Honestly, if you end up reselling I'm sure they'll get sold pretty easy.
Same. They are so comfortable to me I was so surprised to find out that some people find them super uncomfortable! I don’t even think they took much at all for me to break in. Like normal shoes break in.
Girl just sell those items that you regret and move on with your life! You keep saying you’re going to try to use them but it’s not worth the mental and physical space they take up. Love this video! It influenced me to take a look at the purchases that I regret most
Sometimes it's worth trying to use them because occasionally you can make it work and you get a surprise, but mainly because it can make you more ruthless when choosing what to buy in future.
The part about the Docs is SO REAL. I saved up money for mine and have tried SO many times to "break them in" but I still always end up reaching for my $5 Goodwill boots instead because the Docs destroy me physically.
So true! I was told the same thing with Birkenstock’s and 4 months later, my feet still hurt. I believe the best way to get them is used and years worth of someone else breaking them in.
You're referring to the shoes, right? Not the boots? I have some boots and they're my go-to, but those shoes look super uncomfortable. The boots I own have a zipper on the side so that's probably the main reason I reach for them first.
@@hospitalfood6621 lol Birkenstocks are literally slippers for me, they are comfortable but stiff (like any other new shoe) at first, but after a couple weeks, especially a few months, they are extremely comfortable! I guess it just depends on your foot shape.
This is definitely what we need. I realize this isn't great for you because you can't supply links to crappy products, BUT it does gain trust from your followers (though most of us already know you're so honest!!) but I think this is probably one of my favorite videos. I'm so tired of being influenced to buy complete garbage just because people were paid to sell me that trash and tell me it's awesome.
Hannah Louise Poston did a great video on buying for the fantasy selves we imagine that we want to be. Im soooo guilty of that, especially in the clothing and beauty categories.
Most of my doc martens are used from poshmark. Already broken in and usually 1/3 of the price. I’ve had my boots for 7 years now and they’re the most comfy shoes I own! Also, please make sure you’re getting the real leather ones (unless you’re vegan). The vegan leather is just plastic - it’s not going to wear well. That may be the difference you’re noticing!
Same. I had a pair for 4 years that I finally sold because they were still so uncomfortable. I ended up buying a pair that was already broken in and they’re so comfy!
As an owner of 9 pair of Docs and someone who used to sell them, you're not wrong! I love them, and thankfully my feet fit them rather well but it is still a 2-3 week period of wearing them everyday (all day) to break them in well. I have a few pairs that I haven't broken in and don't wear because of that. It's definitely a commitment that's not for everyone 😅They are an amazing daily shoe once they are broken in and they hold up to quite a bit if you take care of them, but even then you have to wear them often or they can stiffen up on you and crack if they're not conditioned.
ALSO - if you love the look of them and want to try again, go try on a pair of the Pascal Doc boots. They're a much softer leather that feels like butter in comparison. I don't know if they have any in the shoe style though.
Girl as a Brit I'm telling you you will FREEZE if you wear that strawberry dress in England in the WINTER! Wear it wherever you live next spring and summer. It's cute, you can wear it out as an every day dress! =)
@@astardanced2260 Absolutely not haha. Only the crazy sluts of northern England would wear mini dresses in the depths of winter. The only reason they apparently can't feel the cold is because they're so drunk off their feet they have a 4 day hangover afterwards!
I have a Christy Dawn Dawn dress in a smaller strawberry print that is my summer work horse! I have played in the creek with my kiddos, met up with friends at the local brewery, and gone out on dates with my husband and that dress has pulled me through it all. And I get so many compliments on it. My advice is to just wear it to go grocery shop, around the house, out for breakfast. I don't think pricey clothes need a special occasion. Love someone else's suggestion of a jacket and sneakers! I have not found a nonstick pan option that I don't hate. I will keep my cast iron and stainless steel, thank you very much!
i think that's a really good point - sometimes things are expensive because they're made to last a lot of wear, not because they're reserved for fancy occasions, so feel free to make the most of them!
I now own 4 Christy Dawn dresses (all bought second hand for 70-200€ each) and they’re basically all I wear in the summer. Two are deadstock fabric that can handle machine washing so I‘m not precious about them at all. The other two are their regenerative cotton and silk blend and require hand washing so I don’t wear them when I know that I’ll be sweating a lot to extend the number of wears between washes. I recently cleared out my wardrobe and found so many nice things that I hardly ever wore because I was precious about them and now they don’t fit anymore. Just use your nice things.
That strawberry dress could be your go-to dress all summer. It's perfect for shopping or going out for lunch or coffee. It looks very comfortable and so beautiful. Make it your summer favourite!
I love these videos soo much because I’m constantly being bombarded with advertisements and “run don’t walk!!!” To buy things and it’s refreshing to see an influencer being honest about things they bought with their own money. Thank you 👏👏👏
I had a wicked case of COVID last year and while I didn't lose my sense of taste of smell, I still have an aversion to certain smells that I've never had before... including my tried and true perfume. My doctor said I'm not crazy. Apparently, it's pretty common. Takes most people 2 years to get back to their "normal" for smell.
Ever since I had covid, my tastes and preferences for food changed dramatically. It's only been about a year for me, so I'll see what happens in another year. I do not anticipate I will ever return to normal again. This is my new normal.
No smell and can only taste things that most people can’t taste like preservatives. I have been this way for 3 years and don’t have any hope of a return to normal.😢😢
the always made itself this pan that was supposed to last a lifetimeb for only $150 but then told you that for that to happen it needed specific care instructions. Like a 40 pan can last a lifetime and my $14 cast iron will last a lifetime if I also follow the specific care instructions!
@@BritniAlexander nah. I have non-stick TFal pots that I've literally been using for over a decade. I take good care of them and the non-stick still works just as well as they did when they were new. No seasoning required.
I really appreciate the little annoyances about the pan and slippers you mentioned! If you're spending a lot of money on everyday items, they're the things that make a hugeee difference!
Admitting purchase regrets is so hard because it's acknowledgement of the hard earned money is wasted 😭 but it's still very important to do for myself so that I'll avoid mistakes like it in the future and be a more mindful consumer
For anyone wondering how to break in doc's w/o the pain: use soup cans! I snuggly fit soup cans in my 1460 Pascal Virginia leather doc's for 72 hours when I first got them and they've been like a second skin ever since; not one blister. :)
I am so confused by the “break in” period on docs… my first 2 pairs are standard leather and they were perfect from jump and my pascals are so soft and buttery. I also have a lot of leather boots by others so I guess I also may be used to the whole leather process 🤷🏻♀️
Olaplex no. 3 works great! ONCE. you need to use it ONCE. and not use it again unless you dye your hair again. think of it like a top coat on your manicure- if it chips, putting on more top coat wont fix it, you gotta strip and start over. with hair you dont keep layering protein treatment on, you wait until protein is stripped again to replace it
Yes! I am in my deinfluencing era. It low key makes me sick when I see all the shit I bought over the years bc I “needed” it that I never even use now.
I've gotten to the point where I only buy things if there is an easy return option for clothes and shoes and no questions asked trial period for beauty, supplements, and personal care. so much of it sucks, but is marketed as the best product on earth. I also try to leave reviews on 3rd party sites because the reviews on the company site aren't honest most of the time.
I have a friend who gets sucked into buying stuff online all the time and then she complains about not having any money. 🙃 Thank you for this video! It brings me comfort to know that being a non-consumer of trending products is working for me and my wallet! 😁
My advice with Docs is to thrift them so someone else already broke them in for you! Breaking them in SUCKS. It took me 4 years as well to break in a new pair of Docs. The only way I broke them in was wearing them every single day for a week in Europe this summer. My feet were RUINED, the worst blisters of my life all over my feet. But now they're perfect and my favorite shoes and I never want to take them off. Buying new Docs is not the move, always always always thrift them! I just thrifted two pairs of Docs from Crossroads in LA on Sunset and I'm obsessed with them!
The interesting thing about Dr. Martin’s is that I’ve always heard that they hurt other people, especially upon initial purchase, but they’ve never hurt me. I bought a pair almost five years ago now and wore them straight out of the store😅
yeah, ive never had trouble either, and half the things people say apply to them that ‘must be the cause’ apply to me too. im not really sure, but i do know that if they’re too big they’re more uncomfortable; and most people have to size up rather than down since they don’t do half sizes.
it really depends on the pair tbh i had one that ruined my feet, i was bleeding every single day to the point i couldnt walk anymore until they randomly got better after months of daily wear (i grew a size since then so they began hurting again and i gave up on them) my 2nd pair i made sure to protect my feet from the beginning to avoid blisters until i realised i didnt need to after a week only, they always felt like slippers 3rd one left me scars on the top of the boot due to how hard the leather was, i had them for 2 months now and while the boot became softer overall i still get blisters at the heels ifmy bandaids move, but theyre manageable blisters
I feel like the strawberry dress would be really pretty to wear to a farmers market or on a picnic date or even just a date in general, i feel like you could make it casual with a jean jacket or something too!
Me as a Brit hearing you say you’re going to wear the strawberry dress in England if it’s not too cold and immediately responding out loud ‘it will be!’ 😂
I am HERE for this video! I’m an environmentally conscious gal, and I work in a field that includes conservation, but somehow over the last few years (thx tik tok) I’ve become so much more of a mindless consumer. Trying to change my habits and go back to my old ways, but it’s hard sometimes lol. So this type of video helps!
@@daniellekirsch5402I think detaching credit cards from my phone so that I have to super annoyingly physically get out my manual card and type out all the numbers is super helpful. I have to think way harder about a purchase if I’m going to spend 7 minutes checking out, and that’s long enough to make me think twice a lot of the time. Another good idea is making a long term fun shopping list. I have one in my notes and anytime I want to buy something (not like groceries, like a dress). Then I add it to the bottom of the list. Then sometimes I’ll go through the list and consider buying one item starting at the top, so with the things I added the least recently, and see if I want to buy them. That helps me see if the charm has worn off or if I actually wanted that
Finally someone is talking about the always pan! I bought my husband the pot and pan and it lasted maaybe two months. We baby the crap out of our cookware too. I thought we were the only ones who didn’t love it because of social media. Good to know we’re not the only ones!
For the docs, I think actually adding stuff to the shoe itself would not help break it in because it’s “protecting” it. In terms of wearing them in, I had my shoes for over a year and wore them maybe 3 times and it was excruciating. Then I moved to a walkable city and my go-to boots died, so I had to wear the docs basically daily bc of the weather. I’d just double sock, and at the beginning would just wear a cotton pad (like the face ones) covered with bandaids where the shoes would rub. Super cheap and protected my feet, not the shoes, super well, no pain. It’s been about a month, if not less, and the shoes are comfortable now and I can wear them just with just double socks, but again that’s more so bc of the weather. So I guess the key is…wear them…a lot. Protect your feet but wear them a lot
I don’t think ours can go in the oven either (we have an earlier version) and that was a huge disappointment. We still use it for other things, but *def* not worth the hype.
I actually love to hear other people’s opinions on stuff, even if I happen to enjoy the product! A lot of the time I come to realize that some things have flaws and inconveniences that I hadn’t even thought about or I find it interesting to see how one same item can make my life easier, but make other’s lives harder. It’s all about knowledge and perspective!! (Also, my unpopular opinion: I’ve always hated UGGS 😭 sorry (but not sorry) I think they’re ugly and never have any long-term structural integrity. But that’s just my opinion. I definitely have seen some people pull it off but I think most people can’t)
This is the first video of yours I've ever seen and I honestly so appreciate it! I just turned 30 this year and I'm really leaning in to my era of just buying stuff I need and letting the influencer ads pass me by. It's crazy how much marketing can play on our FOMO but often the actual products can be super disappointing.
“Once you get through the period of time where your bone is exposed” ☠️ lol. I feel this way about the trendy masculine thick loafers that are so in this fall. I mean, it’s like they’re made of brick. And the style is to wear them with invisible socks? No can do. 😂 the fact that you compared it to prepping for pointe shoes is hilarious because I have literally used my old gel pads from dancing in high school to try to wear some of these stupid shoes LOL
It's incredible to think of the amount of money spent on things we later regret or doesn't fit into our lives and gets wasted. I think of everything now in terms of mortgage payments or hours I've worked :') It's good to add stuff to your basket etc but then let it chill , sleep on it and see how you feel the next day for anybody who feels they impulse but too much.
I think the Christy Dawn dress would also look good layered over a button down or long sleeve. Lots of colors and prints would compliment it and it's cute for spring especially!
Bought the caraway pan set and feel the exact same way! They became non stick within months and the light color stained so bad that they look worse than my stainless pans did. Also, half of my closet is Christy dawn so I may be biased but just wear the dress! As a busy mom of two girls it’s the easiest way to get ready for literally anything, throw that sucker on and immediately look put together. Can’t tell you how many compliments I get, dresses are for all occasions!
OMG I bought a pair of Doc Martens as a teenager and swore them off forever. I wasn’t willing to get to the exposed bone part to make them work. Hilarious and so true! I’m with you on this one, 💯!
I still have my docs from when I was a teenager. They’re 16 years old and have been through it all. They need a polish but are still very wearable. If you can get past breaking them in they will be your favourite shoe
my parents have the pot and pan you showed at the beginning. can confirm they’re astronomically loud 🤣 not to mention that when in use, the handles and lids get HOT. we literally have to use oven pads to handle them when we cook 🥲
This is my favorite video you’ve ever done, Carrie! It’s so refreshing to hear your honest thoughts on these things that keep getting pushed on us. I’d love to see more people share about things that didn’t work for them and more anti-haul style videos in general!
I genuinely love all your videos especially ones talking about things that are worth the hype and things that aren’t. I think the biggest thing for me is you still have a grip on reality of what’s affordable and what’s not. I don’t watch when people seem out of touch and you never do- no shade to any other creator but just love how you keep it real
I totally agree about the doc martens; I’ve never been able to break them in and always get back of the heel blisters no matter how much moleskins, thick socks and heel pads I use
I have multiples if this pan and I love them. The trick is to not cook on high heat and then to let the pan cool down fully before cleaning. If you let the pan fully cool down, they wipe clean very easily. It's not good for any pan to run under water or clean right off the stove, the jump from hot to cooling it under water as you clean it can warp the pan and cause damage. I have been using Our Place pots and pans for over a year now and I'm obsessed personnaly.
@@jendial448 i do both these things - the first pan was a dud and i trashed it after just a year of use. the second one i have (maybe because it was a newer version of the pan) is doing slightly better but def starting to go downhill lol
UA-cam recommended this video to me and I watched the entire video! Thank you for making content that exposes the PUSH on all social media trying to get us to spend. I’m currently writing a video on this same topic, so thanks for the inspo. 🎉 👏 ❤
I love the tazman slippers because of the heel thing! Slides/open back slippers never stay on my feet. These are my favorite because they’re still cozy but they stay put. Getting them on is really the worst though.
What I love about this video is how you try to keep and find use for items even if you don't like them instead of just tossing and donating. I feel like sustainability and re-gifting is really missing from a lot of de-influencing videos so this is awesome
This video is so much of me!! I love it! The Ugg slippers….YES! Mine were so tight I had to send them back! And also, many people with ADHD (myself included) have sensitive senses, if that makes sense. Loud sounds, scratchy fabrics, the way thinks feel and smell….bother us maybe in a greater way than others because we hyper focus on them. Girl, SAME 🙌
About the Doc Martens: I feel you!!! shoes that cost this much should not hurt this much!!! The pay shouldnt equal the pain. The only reason mine don't hurt anymore is because I have build calluses around (almost) my entire feet. Which is also very annoying.
Thank you for being a voice of reason on social media! Your content makes the internet feel like a safer place, please keep sharing your opinions Carrie ❤
Honestly it really is true that you just have to break in the docs, they went from super uncomfy when I first bought them to the most comfortable boots I own, I wear them almost every day. The leather softens and they're so flexible. It's understandable though, I feel like it's a little harder to break in the shoe types of docs (I have those as well)! The back of the heel part can be rough. I appreciate your honesty though!!
really appreciate the way you're not going around it as like "so i'm gonna throw it away/just donate it" and instead just think about how you could make them work for you or others
Feeling so vindicated about the tube top-overall set lol. I normally love the stuff you pick but I remember watching that reel and thinking, "Hell no, she's never gonna wear that."
honestly i’m amazed at how new your docs look after FOUR years, I think I definitely beat the crap out of mine to have them not hurt me anymore, i’ve had them for 4 years as well and they are in a state they look SO bad. I dunno if it’s just the way I walk or something??? but also I totally feel u, the only thing that’s saved my feet is the silicone thing, but we should not be suffering to break shoes in!! especially since the quality of docs is not as amazing as it used to be so is it really worth it
I sadly have to agree about Dr. Martens. I have had a pair of boots now for several years and they STILL are not broken in. I reserve them for sitting outings haha. I just bought a pair of loafers and am too afraid to even try to wear them out haha. It's actually pretty ridiculous. I love Steve Madden/Madden Girl dupes and think I'll stick with them because they're ALWAYS comfy and look just as good....
Totally agree about the doc martens. When I went to go, try some on, the sales woman was trying to offer me all these accessories to make them not hurt my feet. I left thinking that shoes should just fit right off the bat. I shouldn’t have to buy additional accessories for shoe to not make my feet hurt. I’m too old for that. I am too impatient to wait.
Right. I'm laughing scrolling through the comments at all these young women convincing each other that pain is a normal clothing experience. Other "last-a-lifetime" leather boots like Ariats and Red Wings are more comfortable and functional.
Honestly the part about the doc martens is very true. For me it took wearing them during my shifts as a cashier to break them in. I think because I wasnt walking as much but using them for a long time, it allowed me to break them in. My advice is just use it for short walking tasks and with time, itll get easier and be usable for longer periods of time. Avoid wearing them for a lot of walking during the break in period (unless you are willing to bring a backup pair of shoes). I think its definitely worth it in the long run/once they break in, but I can very much understand the fear of the pain and regret that you feel when you start/experience the initial pain.
I wanted the Tazz UGG slippers for Christmas last year too and my brother looked up all the reviews and saw that people were saying they are narrow, run small, and are uncomfortable. But the Tasman (same slipper but no platform) had much better reviews and didn’t have those same issues so he got those for me and they are amazing! So comfortable and super easy to slip on, I wear them all the time! I definitely recommend the Tasman style!!
I have been wearing Tasman’s for almost 35 years since buying my first pair. This was decades before UGG’s became popular. I got my second pair for Christmas. Two years ago! I still wear the first pair when I need to go outside real quick and the weather is bad. They are indestructible! I have small, stubby feet that are super wide in the front.
This week I bought 2 things from this video - a Christy Dawn dress (they had some for $98!) and the Ugg slippers…I’m stuck with the dress and am OK with that but I’m regretting the slippers already and they haven’t even been delivered yet 😂😂😂 I have Doc’s and they are so uncomfortable - I have to wear super thick socks and I have gel insoles in them and that makes them tolerable.
Sometimes when I find myself buying clothes that I love but haven’t worn it’s because I have the item on a pedestal. I learned it doesn’t have to be an occasion. If the weather is nice, wear the dress. Going to a wedding, wear the dress. Brunch, wear the dress. Celebrities wear $400 t shirts to smoke a cigarette.
Omg I completely agree with the Doc Martens!! Shoes should not hurt!! I recently bought a pair of combat boots from Madewell and they were perfectly comfortable first wear and I have loved them. So there is really no reason to put yourself through the pain of trying to break those bricks in lol
Dude, for the Docs shoes, I completely understand. I have a pair of Docs paint splatter boots that I love, but it took a literal year to break them in unintentionally. The first time I wore them, hella stiff, heel was uncomfortable, and my feet slipped around inside a bit (bc the limited edition style they had only came in men's whole sizes 😒, not even half sizes) so I made a mental note to only wear VERY thick socks (like SKIING socks!) with them. I think my foot slipping around just a tiny bit REALLY helped with my foot not bleeding and getting cut up because the same part of the shoe wasn't hitting or rubbing the same part of my foot repeatedly. I only wore them on incredibly cold days and special occasions (getting Halloween pumpkins or getting a Yule tree) and they became much more comfortable after a year. All this to say, they are VERY hard to break in (in my opinion) and that gripe is SO VALID, DUDE. Good luck to you if you plan to keep wearing them!!! 😁 It's possible that the size you got is just a bit too tight for the *type* of shoe Docs are? I don't know, I'm not a podiatrist 👍😊
I love this! Thank you for being honest. I literally was going through my stuff this morning for three hours wondering why I bought most of the things I have 😅
Please make more videos like this! It’s so refreshing. We’re constantly bombarded with the opposite - so many products reviews and ads encouraging you to buy them. It’s tiring. We just end up in a cluttered home filled with products that made little to no difference to our appearance and lifestyle. We girls need to do better, and videos like this are a good first step.
I had to break in my doc martens and it takes A WHILE to do that. I didn't wear it for years because of this. One time I just said "F**k it" and wore them until the leather stretched out. Now they are my fav Fall/Winter shoes. Don't give up on your docs!!!!!!! 💜
Thank you for explaining all about why you regret the clothing purchases! That really helped clarify for me that the occasions and physical comfort needs I have for my clothing will absolutely dictate what wear I get out of them, no matter how cute they are. Also the Doc Marten hate, they are very cute and I also just want shoes to go on my feet and go with me and not be a whole painful hobby.
I solved my bad bleeding with Docs buying their leather balm (I think it’s called dr martens wonder balm, or something like that, I don’t remember the exact name)😊 it softs the hard leather beautifully! Had the worst blisters on my feet, and now I can wear all my cute dr martens even with my thin socks 😊 hope it can help! Xo xo 😘
I LOVEEE my Tazz platform slippers oh so much, I wear them whenever possible (even when I probably shouldn’t) lol but you definitely need to size up!!!
I seriously HATE how you have to say that you don't want to offend anyone in advance of every single product you're showing!!! Oh my god it's your opinion!! I hate that we live in a time where people can get offended so easily by things like an opinion on a material product😫🥺
THANK YOU for talking about the always pan. i also got targeted ads and bought it. the non-stick coating came off after just two uses. it was such a bummer. i now have a set of pots and pans from t-fal and it's literally the best.
on docs: warm up the inside with a hot hairdryer, then spray some water in them, not soaked but solidly damp, then put on very thick socks, put on the damp shoes, tie them tight and go over the outside with the hot hairdryer. This will loosen the leather and mould it better to your feet. Keep the shoes on until they're completely cool. I also find that with the classic height boot, I'll just leave them untied-- put a knot at the end of the shoelaces so they dont slip through and then just keep the laces loose and wear them with thick socks. It's a bit more of a grunge look, but thats how i broke in my first pair of docs.
How can ANYONE post a deinfluencing video and still be so positive, nice and respectful?!?! Like HOW?? 🥹 I just love your personality, I can just imagine, that you are the nicest and unproblematic person ever ❤❤❤ sending you lots of love from Germany!
As a very prone to blisters person who also loves how dr martens look, I just took them in stride and did what I usually do with basically any other shoe: leather heel guards that stick to the back of the inside of the shoe, thick socks, gel heel guards that can be worn... All this is what I've always been doing with most of my shoes anyways, even the all leather ones: sadly I am that fussy and frail when it comes to shoes 😂 so in a way dr martens found me prepared and with plenty of experience. 😂😂 There is something to be said about some of their models though: the boots tend to soften with time because the leather crinkles with use on the heel, models like the one you showed tend to stay stiff forever and will never soften, so that's definitely something to keep in mind when choosing docs (I have a similar shoe but from another brand, same problem: it's stiff and doesn't yield, so I have to wear heel guards).
they do eventually yield, i had to wear the low style for school everyday in the 90s 😅 but it probably takes a lot more effort than it's worth for some people. mine were squishy like a sponge by the time i finished school lol - they're a workboot so they're made to withstand everyday use.
Girl I’m right there with you with those Ugg Tasmans! Luckily, I tried them on before I decided not to get them and I just thought they were so uncomfortable. I just couldn’t justify it.
Am I the only one who hates how tik tok (social media in general tbh) is now just ad after ad or people trying to sell you something? It making me use tiktok less and less. 😅
Just deinstall it. It is not worth your time.
Yes! I see ads every other TikTok.
every social media app is like that now
Ever since TikTok Shop became a thing, I can barely stand TikTok. Every other video is an advertisement or someone promoting a random product that I’m never gonna buy
will never download tiktok 😂
❤
You should do a “wearing ‘clothes that I bought, but have never worn’ for a week” video! I am dying to see that strawberry dress on!
thats insanely depressing, buying clothes to not even wear them.
@@jacob5989w2r 20:06 😂😂
I would like to actually find a sturdy pan with a lid though. It's not cheap. If you're already in that price range, there have to be better options.
I feel you so much. When so many people get obsessed with something I get turned off by it.
@@daniellemartin9896 I've been seeing these at the thrift store lately, now I know why.
Stop apologizing for having your own opinion! Love your videos. People who can't handle someone else's opinion need to piss off.
i mean it's literally the entire point of the video! 😂🤦♀️
Exactly!
Like why is anyone watching this video if they don’t like potential y hahahaha I enjoyed seeing her perspective
Right??? That irritated me too
Right! All the judgey judges need to zip it already!
Same here! Do you also find birkenstock shoes very uncomfortable as well because of the arch?
@@StorieswithT i've only worn them once or twice but yes! i practically lived barefoot as a kid for that reason. good to know it's not just me!
yes i regret that. i have super arched feet always get crushing hurting blisters but i love them
I have flat feet too and I find the docs very comfortable and true to size!
It influenced me to take a look at the purchases that I regret most
Sometimes it's worth trying to use them because occasionally you can make it work and you get a surprise, but mainly because it can make you more ruthless when choosing what to buy in future.
i agree don’t fall for the sunk cost fallacy!! just get rid of em and they’ll find someone who will actually like them
So true. Someone else might get use out of those pieces.
@@hospitalfood6621I think you can try getting them wet and wearing them which forms them to your feet?
You can actually buy socks that have padding on them so maybe that would help
This is definitely what we need. I realize this isn't great for you because you can't supply links to crappy products, BUT it does gain trust from your followers (though most of us already know you're so honest!!) but I think this is probably one of my favorite videos. I'm so tired of being influenced to buy complete garbage just because people were paid to sell me that trash and tell me it's awesome.
Totally agree! People may not buy anything in this video, but they’ll be more likely to buy things under another video because this builds trust

The best doc martins I have are sandals and I love them.
Mine are vintage made in England leather Doc oxfords that I got on Poshmark and they're SO much comfier than the Doc boots I purchased new.
This is a great tip thanks
i had good experience with the vegan leather so far- may not last 30years but i wear mine everyday in winter for 4years now
I also find sizing up even just a half size from your regular size will benefit you loads aswell
Girl as a Brit I'm telling you you will FREEZE if you wear that strawberry dress in England in the WINTER! Wear it wherever you live next spring and summer. It's cute, you can wear it out as an every day dress! =)
I was literally about to comment this myself!! A little cardigan over the top is NOT going to hack it!
@@astardanced2260 Absolutely not haha. Only the crazy sluts of northern England would wear mini dresses in the depths of winter. The only reason they apparently can't feel the cold is because they're so drunk off their feet they have a 4 day hangover afterwards!
@@astardanced2260😂 It’s always so funny seeing Americans do a fall outfit where they think IF they should add a cardigan to the look.
Where I live in America, same. Also, apparently where I live it gets colder than the overall temperature of winter in the UK. Have a good day, bye!
I honestly laughed so much when she said she was coming to the UK and bringing the dress….guuuurl don’t do it, you will freeze to death.
I love my doc martens but you're so right about the pointe shoes thing, docs have given me way worse blisters than a decade of pointe work ever have 💀
I have a Christy Dawn Dawn dress in a smaller strawberry print that is my summer work horse!
Yeah the dress seems like something I would wear almost weekly in warm weather and id layer it to wear in cooler weather.
@@ninamarie177I've learned this lesson the hard way. save something and it ends up going bad or out of style. I think I've finally changed 😊
Thank you 👏👏👏
Omg when I hear the "RUN, don't walk" I immediately skip.
This happened to me!! It took 2 years just like you said and I’m SO glad I didn’t toss my perfumes.
I lost my smell too but thankfully it only took two months for me and not two years!
Yep. It took two years to get back to normal here! Hang in there, it can be better!
No smell and can only taste things that most people can’t taste like preservatives. I have been this way for 3 years and don’t have any hope of a return to normal.😢😢
I absolutely HATED the always pan. Things started sticking 6 months in and the stains were unreal
All nonstick pans require seasoning but no manufacturer tells you that. They set you up for failure.
the always made itself this pan that was supposed to last a lifetimeb for only $150 but then told you that for that to happen it needed specific care instructions. Like a 40 pan can last a lifetime and my $14 cast iron will last a lifetime if I also follow the specific care instructions!
It’s a terrible pan. The only thing I use mine for is steaming dumplings. It’s also very small!
@@BritniAlexander nah. I have non-stick TFal pots that I've literally been using for over a decade. I take good care of them and the non-stick still works just as well as they did when they were new. No seasoning required.
Just throw these out and get yourself a good quality legacy pan that will last you forever. Like a glazed cast iron, e.g. le cruset.
I really appreciate the little annoyances about the pan and slippers you mentioned! If you're spending a lot of money on everyday items, they're the things that make a hugeee difference!
Girl, that strawberry dress with white sneakers and a denim jacket for every day?? CUTE! 🥲
And buying the pascals is a great idea in general as they have softer leather than the originals!
I have Pascals too and they were comfortable from the get-go.
I am so confused by the “break in” period on docs… my first 2 pairs are standard leather and they were perfect from jump and my pascals are so soft and buttery. I also have a lot of leather boots by others so I guess I also may be used to the whole leather process 🤷🏻♀️

Me too! Thrifted mine and they’re fabulous and cheaper!!! Win win 🎉thanks for the store location 🫣 hopefully you’re not a size 10😅
Omg fuck that 😳 😂
The interesting thing about Dr. Martin’s is that I’ve always heard that they hurt other people, especially upon initial purchase, but they’ve never hurt me. I bought a pair almost five years ago now and wore them straight out of the store😅
Same
I'm a petite girl with boney ankles. Anything hard leather and heavy is painful to me 😢
Yeah I've never related to people finding docs painful. I have quite a few pairs and never had to break any of them in hahah
yeah, ive never had trouble either, and half the things people say apply to them that ‘must be the cause’ apply to me too. im not really sure, but i do know that if they’re too big they’re more uncomfortable; and most people have to size up rather than down since they don’t do half sizes.
it really depends on the pair tbh
i had one that ruined my feet, i was bleeding every single day to the point i couldnt walk anymore until they randomly got better after months of daily wear (i grew a size since then so they began hurting again and i gave up on them)
my 2nd pair i made sure to protect my feet from the beginning to avoid blisters until i realised i didnt need to after a week only, they always felt like slippers
3rd one left me scars on the top of the boot due to how hard the leather was, i had them for 2 months now and while the boot became softer overall i still get blisters at the heels ifmy bandaids move, but theyre manageable blisters
Agree! Im very frugal, i overthink every purchase i make, usually buy second hand... this year ive gone wild! What has happened to me?!
That helps me see if the charm has worn off or if I actually wanted that
I really wanted an always pan, but my sister got one first and said it was the worst pan she's ever used 😂
Finally someone is talking about the always pan! I bought my husband the pot and pan and it lasted maaybe two months. We baby the crap out of our cookware too. I thought we were the only ones who didn’t love it because of social media. Good to know we’re not the only ones!
I'm so glad she reviewed it! I've wanted one for ages but can never afford it. Now I can finally let go of that FOMO 😂
I got the dupe pan at Aldi's for less than 20$ (nice lavender purple) it's fine but I don't like how loud it is😅
I got sucked in to frugal influencers a few months ago. I love it - managed to pay for trips for my kids which is way more fun than more stuff.
I definitely agree with you on the Always pan. It's horrible and not non stick. It's crap
I have been so close to buy the Always pan and I'm glad I didn't do it. Too expensive

I don’t think ours can go in the oven either (we have an earlier version) and that was a huge disappointment. We still use it for other things, but *def* not worth the hype.

So glad I didn’t believe in the pan hype- I,bought ninja pan set kohls 40% off
I actually love to hear other people’s opinions on stuff, even if I happen to enjoy the product!

Agreed! so overrated
I still have my docs from when I was a teenager. They’re 16 years old and have been through it all. They need a polish but are still very wearable. If you can get past breaking them in they will be your favourite shoe
Same with my daughter. She hasn’t bought a pair since.
my parents have the pot and pan you showed at the beginning. can confirm they’re astronomically loud 🤣 not to mention that when in use, the handles and lids get HOT. we literally have to use oven pads to handle them when we cook 🥲

My jaw dropped when you held up the always pan 🤣 I’ve wanted one for so long. I’m so glad I heard your opinion first!
As someone who bought one last year I do have to echo the complaints which sucks haha
I bought 2 and they are the worst. aesthetically beautiful but not functional at all
I have multiples if this pan and I love them.

YES. this needs to be talked about more. We are so easily influenced.

It's just too impractical.
honestly i’m amazed at how new your docs look after FOUR years, I think I definitely beat the crap out of mine to have them not hurt me anymore, i’ve had them for 4 years as well and they are in a state they look SO bad.
Same, girl, same! There are soooo many things I was influenced to buy and super regret now.
I wish there were more TRUTH videos like this. So helpful!
The brown 2 piece romper set is really flattering on you. You look great!❤

I have small, stubby feet that are super wide in the front.
carrie, that lip color looks so good on you!!
Return the slippers once they get to you! Keeping regret buys just isn’t worth it
@@meowdee Great advice :)
i loveeee my uggs!! try them for yourself
I literally was going through my stuff this morning for three hours wondering why I bought most of the things I have 😅
I see those uggs on Vinted constantly! Also with the strawberry dress I feel like you should just go for it 😊 it’s beautiful!
I’ve considered buying almost everything in this video, so thank you for de-influencing me! ❤
So great! And now if she says she loves something I’m going to really believe her! 😊
I refuse to wear uncomfortable shoes. I don’t care how trendy or cute….I just can’t do it… so I agree, get rid of the shoes.👍
I completely agree with Glossier YOU - it just turned on me at some point! I almost got nauseated by it wearing it so heavily.
My biggest doc martin tip is to get them second hand. Cheaper and someone else has broken them in for you
Omg I LOVE my always pan, docs, and You perfume 😂 but i like hearing your real opinion on things!!
For REAL
THANK YOU for talking about the always pan. i also got targeted ads and bought it. the non-stick coating came off after just two uses. it was such a bummer. i now have a set of pots and pans from t-fal and it's literally the best.
Yes you influenced me to buy the anthropology set , I haven't worn it either 😂
on docs: warm up the inside with a hot hairdryer, then spray some water in them, not soaked but solidly damp, then put on very thick socks, put on the damp shoes, tie them tight and go over the outside with the hot hairdryer.
There is something to be said about some of their models though: the boots tend to soften with time because the leather crinkles with use on the heel, models like the one you showed tend to stay stiff forever and will never soften, so that's definitely something to keep in mind when choosing docs (I have a similar shoe but from another brand, same problem: it's stiff and doesn't yield, so I have to wear heel guards).
they do eventually yield, i had to wear the low style for school everyday in the 90s 😅 but it probably takes a lot more effort than it's worth for some people. mine were squishy like a sponge by the time i finished school lol - they're a workboot so they're made to withstand everyday use.
Yeah I thought the same thing, that style of shoe in any brand can be the worst for blisters in the heels
no that brown set is so cute on you I get it’s out of your comfort zone but some platform sandals would look so cute !!
Thank you for speaking out against doctor marten lmao! I thought I was the only one who doesn’t care to mutilate my feet to fit into a pair of shoes
Girl I’m right there with you with those Ugg Tasmans! Luckily, I tried them on before I decided not to get them and I just thought they were so uncomfortable. I just couldn’t justify it.
Here’s the thing about clothes. If you love it, just wear it. You don’t need a reason, or an occasion. Life’s too short for that
I appreciate you!
I’ve also had the experience with DMs. I bought Solovairs used on eBay and they are my favorite boots ever!
honestly love feisty & opinionated carrie. more please!
I like this new deinfluencing trend, it’s nice to have people be genuine
