Mine looked the same, so this is a must when you first get your bike. I ditched the filter screen for for the paper filters which should catch much smaller metal particles.
Thanks. Lifan puts out a quality product. Not many of any other Chinese bikes out there that have an actual oil filter. As you can see, the filter caught a lot ot trash the typical oil screen let by.
First oil change on my KPX250, similar to this video. Similar amount of metal in filter. Oil cover was tight fit, requiring patience to remove. The Amazon hf112 red paper filter came with 1 o-ring, cap takes 2.
I came back here again to see if you clean the big filter but you changed it!!! Bummer because I do have new 112 filter but decided to reuse screen filter after clean it!!!
Jerry, I just left the dealer, I'm going to buy the kpx 250, the dealer said that American Lifan recommends leaving that break in oil for some miles because it's made specifically for break in and that's why it's thinner, what do you think?
I changed the oil because mine came low on oil in the first place and didn't want to mix it. I figured I might as well put something I know is good in it just to be on the safe side. Now if you buying from a brick and mortar dealer they will probably check for the proper amount and may have even changed it themselves. Congrats on the new bike.
I think you could just clean and reuse the stock oil filter myself. American Lifan sent extra filters with my bike. I guess eventually I'll just get the HF 112 paper filters.
I don't. American Lifan had sent me a couple in the mail when I asked them where to get them. You can buy them directly from American Lifan. Email them contact@americanlifan.com. You can also use the K&N 112 or HF112 oil filter.
Would you recommend that oil over the SAE 15w-40 oil the manual recommends? I’m new to riding and when I look up that type of oil it’s diesel oil idk if that’s ok to use for this bike
any 10w-40 motorcycle oil design for wet clutch will be fine. I used Valvoline Motorcycle non-synthetic for the first 1500 miles then switch to synthetic after that.
@@JerryHawk250 thanks jerry! I just got my bike last week and put it together it’s been a blast to ride as my first motorcycle, I used to ride dirt bikes as a kid so I knew I wanted a dual sport the used Japanese market where I live was just too much for me for a 250cc bike and thought this bike was a great deal and better quality than a hawk DLX
@@JerryHawk250 totally agree great bike! My only complaint so far is the kickstand I feel it’s wayyy too tall for my liking and trying to figure out how to go about fixing that issue besides cutting it down and having someone weld it back together wish it was adjustable
Today I got a quote from Venom for 2 oil filter o-rings. They want $39.99 and shipping too!!! Do you know where to buy parts for the KPX 250 that are reasonable? Venom's parts are way overpriced.
@@Kevin-mm6xm you can got to any auto parts or hardware store and get them. Just bring the original o ring with you so they can match it up. It's just an o ring, nothing special.
@@JerryHawk250 No I get that Jerry and that's what I'll do for any of the o-rings I need, but when it comes to other parts like a starter or brake pads or calipers etc, do you know where, like Ali Express, and how to order?
This metal oil strainer is reusable and only needs to be washed and put back in. He is eternal. It's only paper filters that change. This metal one is not.

Good informative video, I like that they have 4 bolts holding the oil filter cover in place. Nice job! 👍

cool. I was looking at a hawk DLX and I saw these...looks like Ima gonna.
Great choice. I love the bike.

I enjoy your videos the Lifan oil filter looks more like a screen can it be cleaned or do you recomend replacing it the hf 112 is paper like

Thank you so much for the response. I appreciate it.
Trying to change my oil and the socket keeps slipping. Idk if it's me, the socket or the bike. Probably me.
Make sure you use a 6 point socket and the correct size. It is metric.

HF112 they dont come with a new oring?
The Lifan filter didn't come with an o ring. I haven't purchased the HF112 yet so not sure if it comes with one or not.
What size are the handlebars 7/8 or something else
7/8"
How long before you changed the filter sir
Change it with every oil change.

Probably my old AC unit getting ready to die. 😂 I had to replace it not long after.

That is correct. The metal screen filter is reusable.
