When draining old oil out I take off the cap where I pour new oil in, makes the old oil drain out easier.
One problem people often have is accidentally putting in too much oil. I find that it doesn't take much oil to make a big change in the level in the sight window. To avoid that problem, I put in say 100ml less than I think I need, and then check the level, and put the rest in slowly as needed.
I don't think that slightly overfilling is a big deal however. Every time a mechanic has changed the oil on my bikes, they have overfilled them slightly.
Neatly explained, especially setting the torque wrench to zero..
I usually wait for ten minutes after stopping the engine, and then check the level. Thanks for another good video.
Thank you my friend
And today i spent a full hour on the Tiger 850 of slow figure 8s and slow maneuvers with great clutch control and great enjoyment
Take care my friend
Nice and simple. And although you show it, i don't think you specifically said to hold the bike upright when checking the proper level. Makes a big difference!
This is exactly how my mechanic do an oil change on my first bike and now I gain more faith and respect to him.
What a coincidence I am going to change my bike's oil just tomorrow!
Thank you
Your Advice is the Very Best
Take care my Friend
All Happiness to you
Awesome video, as always! Something that could be added, is that at least here in Argentina, some mechanics will have proper ways to dispose of the old oil, so sometimes you can take it to them to get rid of. Just don't throw it in any random place that's not meant for it.
Good advice. Every mechanic should keep the exhausted oil and follow specific rules for waste treatment.
We'd like to see more motorcycle maintenance videos from you.
I didn't know Winston used to quote about motorcycle maintenance🤣🤣🤣
Yes, there IS harm in pre-filling the filter. You can EASILY get shit on the clean side.
Besides, there's still oil coating the insides of the engine. It's fine.
Great job. Please make more different videos related with basic maintenance, beginners need know about it. Something basic like as how to tighten the throttle cable, how to tighten the chain and something like this.
Thank you
Lmfaoooo that Winston Churchill quote. 😂😂
I usually drain the oil at night and do the oil change in the morning to make sure i got the old oil not completely but mostly out.
La lucha continua, comrade!
What drives me mad is the fact that you can't find torque values in some manuals. Instead you see: visit a dealer (F9 joke: Ducati Dealer X)
Thanks
Damn I was planing to change the oil on my own then you uploaded this
When it turns on is ok if it fills the whole window
Instructions unclear. My 2 stroke didn't like the oil.
2 stroke still need motor oil and procedure same as video explained.
Other oil is "2T oil" . 2T oil use for lubricant crankshaft con rod, which cause of sistem 2stroke engine not allowed motor oil reach conrod.
Nice one 😀
great video as always! thanks! What do you do with the old oil if you are changing it in a public parking lot?
Спасибо за совет о наполнении фильтра маслом перед установкой. Хоть и не критично. Но какое это удовольствие первый раз заводить свой байк после замены масла с мыслями о его неполебимом здоровье. Нельзя лишать себя этого)) chiao
I think, as we can pour oil to a new filter oil so just do it. Even in very short time oil always late to lubricant all moving engine parts.
how much time do you wait to change sparkplug?
Finally some UA-camr that is 100% right about the proper procedure to change the oil, everything else is just BS…
Very true, I think I know the UA-camr who he mentioned. This guy says we need to rev the shit out of the bike before an oil change!. That is nuts given the oil is old and giving you the least amount of protection.
Teşekkürler 🧿🏍🇹🇷👏👏👏👏
fun fact, the duke200 shares the same engine with the indian company BAJAJ modle NS200.
what is the ideal drain period of engine oil?,,
You don’t need to fill filter with oil, even on some oil filters is image that you don’t need to fill it with oil… The best advice is to use just simple motorcycle manual for this work and I haven’t seen in any that you need to fill up filter with oil, some bikes requires crushers to be replaced.
What if my oil in bike is two years old? Should i still crank it to warm it up before i change?
Cool video
But the question is what have you done to the used oil? 😂
I hope you didn't pour it out in a drain somewhere next to the parking lot 😂
Must be nice to have a bike that doesnt drain oil right onto the exaust pipe :) lol
Sir u bought duke 200 ?
Duke 200 is my favourite 200cc motorcycle 🧡.
Very informative video on oil change Thank you Sir.
@@houseofelectronics5869No brother that's a first gen Duke 200. See the tank sticker on the video 8:35 the other motorcycle sir had in older videos was the 2nd gen Duke 390
Плиз, следующий видос про смазывание цепи!
Hola komrade, nice video. It is not great, not terrible!
Is oil filter change required everytime oil change is done?
It's not necessary. Most people change the filter every other oil change.
I always change it. It's cheap and gives me extra peace of mind.
I ride kinda hard, so probably better to halve the recommended interval
"Start up your bike without any oil in it"
🤔
Use a magnet to pull the filter out. Not a knife lol. Absolutely under no circumstance should you use a steel screwdriver to put your filter out against your aluminum block. Ever.
Hola comrrraad ✊
7500km? oO
Here in Canada we will be calling each other Comrade very soon.

I found a good trick to get that last bit of oil out is using a long straw and suck the rest out like a milkshake. The oil is full of vitamins and minerals and goes great with whip cream.😮
