I am so glad i watched this before starting a workstation from scratch already. You just saved me a ton of money. thank you! And I"m happy to hear your pooch is 100%!
Thanks for all the great information on storage racks. That in one of my pet peeves is to have a lot of storage and everything has a home. That way, everything is organized and a proper place to put them. I have a work ethic of putting things back in it place. You showed so many more options, which I love and plan to get some of them. Thanks again for a great video. I always look forward to watching them. You take the time to inform fellow modelers on hobby and new products. Be safe and see you in your next video.👍🚂⛵️✈️🚀🚗
An 17:32 those racks look like hobby zone products. If you were to guess the brand of those I would say hobby zone. Hobby zone is expensive you can buy them in the United States their is a retailer for them. They are great looks really cool I use hobby zone products. You have to build them wood glue is what you need and it is like building a model comes on a spru I highly recommend them. I am running out of space for my set up may need to pick up a folding table again. I have 2
The clear racks (where your SMS paints live) are terrific. I wish that I had started with that style of rack, it would have prevented a lot of frustration. I highly recommend them.
Those racks and shelves are great if you have a dedicated room for working with plenty of space yes it helps to keep the clutter under control but what modeller actually has a clean, organized TV/movie perfectly aligned room 🤭 , you know it's true that clutter happens on your bench/ workspaces when working on multiple kits as a fact of life especially these days with an abundance of new paints/tools and other gubbins that builders of the past never had ( when everything could technically be stored on a bookshelf) 😁 I've learned that an organised clean workspace is an unused workspace/ one kit at a time builder or the showroom fantasy dream room most modellers think they have instead of chaos clutter and I swear I just put it down there yesterday 🤣( or is that just me 🤔🤗)
I am from South Africa. We don't have a huge range of paints and accessories available to us. So your videos about off the beaten path paints and tools are really helpful and informative
I get a headache trying to get in my head around all you have done.:):) Maybe sometime you could do a series of the best of the best(acrylics, Laquers, enamels, airbrushes, etc......thanks for all you do...Merry Christmas Happy New Year
I have a few of those acrylic racks. Mine have seven tiers. They're advertised as nail polish racks. I paid $27 Australian for them. About $16 US. Actually there are a variety of acrylic make up holders you can get in all kinds of shapes and sizes.
Have you done a video on the lighting systems that you use at your desk and booth? As I re-enter into the hobby after many years off, I can’t thank you enough for your videos. It’s invaluable and don’t freak out if you ever see my setup and it’s the same as yours 😂 You, sir, are a national treasure lol. Thanks again!
Great ideas ! But the one thing I would change is the market storage . Particularly the paint and felt tip markers . They should always be stored horizontally or tip down to avoid the nob from drying out .
Question for you How many fold up tables do you have for your set up? How many tables do you use to store all your paint? And how many fold out tables do you have that you actually do work on building models/ make vids? @ Barbatos rex
I was just looking on Amazon today for something to store my Archive-X bottles. I’m probably going to get a nail polish rack. They’re cheap. I keep my Tamiya and Vallejo bottles in clear plastic craft boxes I get at Hobby Lobby.
I have a suggestion for the container for your glasses. Take a microfiber towel and cut a piece to fit the bottom of the tray and use double sided tape to hold it down to keep from scratching the lens.
I have several of the 'some assembly required' acrylic racks, and they work perfectly for me. AND, the price was great (I got mine on AliExpress - took a few weeks to arrive). Thanks for another awesome video.
I have the little tamiya round spinner rack,it’s alright, plus I have a Vallejo rack, but I don’t have anywhere near as much stuff as most people probably
I'm in process of setting up a paint booth solution for the purpose of painting high-power model rockets and 3-D printed components thus this video was very timely and much appreciated!
I have a couple of 3D printers and do print random storage boxes from time to time, they do take a lot of time to print but save me lots of cash... I originally bought the airbrush and compressor to play around with painting my 3D printed electronic project boxes... now I have another hobby... After watching this video, next on the agenda is to design and print a complete set of interconnected storage boxes for my work area :D
Oooof, perfect timing. I've been on a paint shopping spree and I have zero organization skills haha so very timely video! Thanks for all you do my man! You've saved me hundreds in what paints and accessories to buy. Edit: HECK YEAH!! Please keep us updated on the Gaia notes connect!! Those are my favorite paints so far. Just bought some from Burbank's house of hobbies but I know they run out quick and take forever to restock.
you just made my day, perhaps my year, by saying that Gaia Notes are coming back to the US.. most of my bottles of theirs have gone dry over the years and I have been dying to get more
Some really practical storage solutions here Robert. I use the 7 tier nail polish racks from AliExpress at around $28AUD and they work great. Have to get some of the marker racks as I'm always ratting around a container to find the right colour. Won't be long before the 60K subs comes up and so well deserved. Happy and safe Christmas and New Year to you and your family including Olly The best channel on You Tube by far.
Just got my Pace Peacekeeper Mini dropped off today. Seems the price is likely to just keep going up, so I got it while it's on sale...mostly because of your review.
I have a couple of essential oil cases that I use to store Vallejo paints in for travelling to my brother's house. At home I have a bunch of HobbyZone modular racks around my hobby desk with about 200 paints from different companies.
Great information and Ideas. How in the heck do you remember the paint colors? There can not be two alike in that collection and how do you decide what to use? Thanks for sharing very impressive. I plan on purchasing my first air brush here very soon, I watch your videos and a couple others (sorry) and I am set on the Iwata Eclipse, so before I pull the trigger, any last words of advise? Thanks, and Thanks for all you do for us!!
I use a 26 inch tool box the generic three small drawer one big drawer layout with some upside down aluminium T-bar to separate my paint into columns. The small drawers can fit 105 Mr hobby or tamiya jars. Taller paints like SMS or the GX series fit in the big drawer or ontop.
You answered yet another of my newbie questions! But, in this video you just might divulge that you might have a problem Dude. I've never seen a more organized and FULLY stocked hobby room. EVER!!!! Kudos, but how do you find the time or money?
And for all that, I bet you still open a kit and see you don't have one of the paint colours listed. Thanks for the review and showing us your paint collection. :)
I really like the zippered carryalls you showed but all my paints are in 1 7/16” round bottles. (Floquil, Polly S, Truecolor, Modelflex, Accuflex) I can’t find anything to fit them. I only have about 2 dozen bottles to store since the RRs that I model use pretty similar colors plus thinners and clear coats. I would like to put them away when I am building on my bench and not painting.
Could you please share your Revell label template and file for them? I would definitely like to make some of those labels for all my Revell paints as well as others.
I just ordered from Amazon Japan (I have an account there) the Mr. Hobby storage rack after seeing yours in a previous video. It was 2,873 yen ($20.98). I also ordered the GSI Creos cardboard one (GSI Creos G Tool DC901 Color Storage Box) that was 1,173 yen ($8.57), it was more out of curiosity if it could be a good storage option. Those higher prices we're seeing stateside for the Mr. Hobby storage rack is from the shipping/import cost to the seller. I got hit in the wallet by the shipping from my Japan mailing address and forwarding service for just regular air mail post office shipping and not FedEx or DHL shipping. It's most likely from the cardboard storage box being in it's dissembled flat form so needing a larger shipping box along with the Mr. Hobby one being large. Currently waiting for it to arrive any day now. I've thought about those spice racks and the Typhoon racks, but unfortunately I just don't the space to accommodate them. Aspiring that one day I'll be able to have a workbench and area setup like yours Barbatos Rex.
Following up after a recent discovery at the local The Container Store. I found the Luxe Premium 3-Drawer Acrylic Accessory Box for $37.99 could be an alternative to the Mr. Hobby storage rack with similar dimensions for anyone looking for that form of storage with clear view of each drawer.
Hi Robert , thanks for the heads up on the FOUR E' s paint mixer work's great and a real time saver. Could you please show me where I can buy at the pedestal style air brush stand/holder that you use . This is the one with the chrome base and quick release bayonet fitting , can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks for your help
Can you check what other racks the createx stuff fits on? I’ve been holding off buying anything because it seems nobody uses them. I have hundreds of them and need a solution. 😂 this is incredible though. I can’t believe the neatness with the amount of things in this video. Ridiculous!
So I see that the wall racks are holding the aclad larger primer bottles are they the same racks as the holding the lower one hold I believe it’s the mister hobby ?
Newtype just announced they have Gaia paints. There was actually a different store that has had gaia in stock for a while now. Selection has been limited and shrinking though. I'm wondering if these other retailers held off until after their sales. USAGS is supposed to have a Christmas sale upcoming. Expecting Gaia early 2023 there is my guess.
I'm speaking of a different retailer here in the US. And they will be working directly with Gaia and getting direct shipments directly FROM Gaia and that's why the price will be less too. Good things are coming
@@barbatosrex9473 that's good to hear. Newtype Gaia prices are anywhere from 20%-80% higher than galactic toys. From what I can tell. I haven't bought anything yet though. The chrome gp-08 for instance is $19.95 at galactic vs $35 at newtype. Galactic has had gaia for at least a month. Variety of colors seems to have dwindled though. I haven't bought any because I have the full AOK color line and jumpwind metallics. I may get some gaia primer or topcoat at some point.
Great video!!!!! Love the shelves. You have more paint brands and colors available than most hobby shops I’ve ever been to! I aspire to have a set-up like that one day. Just a question though, Do you have your table set-up a certain way, i.e glue, sanders, to the left and cutters/nippers, files, and miscellaneous to the right? Or is it wherever you have room?
Really excited for the Gaia Notes news. I know Burbank's House of Hobbies just got them, but they marked them up ever so slightly, and the shipping kills. I couldn't buy from them because their shipping doubled the price.
Do gaianotes bottles and Alclad bottles fit in the testor's carrying case? I know they're not in square bottles, but I need something like that case for my recent acquisitions.
@@barbatosrex9473 Probably should have mentioned the paint booth I have is the exact same style as the I believe anesty dual fan one you have shown in a previous video. I am hoping you might have a suggestion so I do not have to model and print one for mine. I want a shelf above the handle area.
You legit have the best home hobby room set up that I have personally ever seen.
