This storage system reminds me of hobby zone products same thing but hobby zone needs wood glue. I love my hobby zone stuff fun to build and very nice
Same here - I have the HZ system and its really good VFM, plus if you stand them on the cartons they come in, it lifts them about 50mm off the deck for even better access. A quick line of PVA glue as you assemble and they are solid as a rock. They are a really neat modular size and all match up height wise too
I feel like hobby zone jas these ones beat by miles. I've had both and the hobby zone ones feel like better quality, and they have lasted a whole lot longer at this point too
I would watch/listen to you do a podcast while you have a overhead camera while building/painting/airbrushing anything
It's always good to see more ways to use space more effectively.
Awesome racks, just ordered the set. Not cheap but very well made and thought out. My makespace is a disaster so this will go a long way to cleaning it up. BR, you would have a massive coronary if you saw my main work bench right now. Thanks for finding great stuff for us to drool over.
Very nice and interesting. I bought a bunch of the drawer sets and shelves, etc from Hobby Zone. They are similar and having these really helps me find my tools and supplies.
Great review of this modular rack system, which would help modelers to organize their tools, paints, glue, etc, in a systematic way. 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The link you gave for GK-8 goes to GK-7 instead. So two go to 7 and none go to 8. And, of course 8 is the one I'm after. On Amazon I see GK-9, 12 and 13 for vertical paint bottle storage. Would love to have an update on which of those work for Games Workshop paints, and Monument Pro-Acryl.
As always, thanks for sharing. This rack system is pretty thick as far as the thickness of the pieces. I use the rack system from hobby zone, which require you to cut off a sprue and use glue, it gets messy too. I like the fact that these are literally plug and play, too bad I'm too deep in the other system, i definitely would take a look at these.
I am a watchmaker by trade. Just ordered the #1 for my bench. Can't wait to try it. Might be just what I need.
How did this work out?
BIG FAN of your channel!!
Just wanted to get your opinion on which paint you would recommend for plastic model kits. I am getting back into model building after about 25 years, and all my paint has dried up. I checked out Testors paints which I used in the past and they seem to be obsolete. What is available is very limited. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work!! Jeff
Hello my friend, I would go with either Mr Color or Tamiya
@Barbatos Rex Thank you Sir !!
Very nice storage system. They look like they are very good products. Thanks for sharing.
I'm pretty fond of the clear acrylic 6 shelf stands. Just wish the shelf was able to fit the 23ml Tamiya jars and the larger Alclad bottles.
Hey, I noticed you surpassed the 70k subscriber mark! Congrats. Just started watching this video. Looks like good quality shelving.
Better than some brands I've seen. These have some decent structure to it and wont break as easily. I still prefer acrylic and aluminium based ones.
Should mention that these are thick enough to drill in some indents for some rare earth magnets on the sides to help lock them together.
It better be good staring price is like 350 all the way up to 2,500.
these are some awesome storage unites
Looks good but here in OZ that kit is $300, for what, $5 worth of lazer cut MDF.
So I am back in this Kickstarter that allows you to 3-D print some schematics for holding hubby paint and stuff like that so I could sell the prints and stuff like that not the files with the prints. So I think I’ll wait for that to come out this looks really cool though. Also I recommend it’s not too expensive the ElGato Multimount arms system you can get it to her amounts to a desk or off of a stand I use it for all my cameras for live streaming and also for my paint. Anyway thanks for the videos always proud to be a Patreon. Be well be you
I just bought these after seeing them on social media. I wish they were solid wood, but other than that they are REALLY well designed. Love that they have pieces specifically for square tamiya / mr weathering bottles.
Ordered the GK1 after seeing it in your other videos. It will be here tomorrow!
Nice!!
You always have great tips, tools and of course paints. I really have been looking for a modular system. I was thinking Hobby Zone but then you show this system which I’m leaning towards getting.
Thank you for sharing and helping me get back into building models!
Great vid! Thanks for showing
A fellow fish lover, awesome, I currently have 5 fish tanks. 😁
Wow I'm seeing wildly disparate prices across platforms. The bucasso site wants $382 USD per kit, ebay is selling them for~ $125 average, Amazon has some for $53.
Idk what something like this should go for on average, or if Amazon's prices are still exorbitant. MDF is generally more expensive than plywood or that really cheap stuff whose name escapes me now, right? It's like a pulp mashed together with glue. MDF is like the higher quality version of that.
The GK6 & 8 interest me the most. I just hope I won't lose my shorter tools in the paintbrush slots. Some of my clay rakes are only 3.5-4 inches long.
Man, I knew I should have waited before purchasing a Plydolex paint rack. It's nice, but I had to cut out notches that the factory missed and doesn't look NEAR as sturdy as this unit. Thanks for the review!
I'm liking the GK1. It has enough variety to be a solo 'snap build' station. I'm not a fan of storing paint in these stands though. I prefer 'really useful boxes' as they can be stacked are re-ordered easily.
What is “really useful boxes”, is that a brand name?
Oh man, this is tempting 😮
I made something similar from cardboard once, but it only lasted 2 kits 😮💨
Great review, but the link for GK8 is incorrect.
It's really tempting. Assemble your own or go the 3D Printer route and find plans but that's a lot more expensive.
Plans are cheap to get, but a laser cutter would be an extra investment I’m not ready to splurge on.
Making a shelf system isn't exactly rocket appliances, with some basic hand tools, wood and fasteners you can make just about anything.
There are also TONS of cheap storage options available.
These seem like they are for the "I don't have time, lots of extra money" crowd, the industry's favorite type of customer...
Nice review. Those pieces look good.
Technically you're supposed to keep brushes stored horizontally so the water and paint doesn't drip down into the business that holds the brush together. Quoting Robert Kennedy of Typhoon Painting: "Never store your most precious paintbrushes up and down because the paint and water will drain downwards into the metal furrule causing the glue to soften which will loosen the hairs and decrease their life!"
Nice RACK, never thought I would be telling that to a guy
can you make a vides showing how to use ak 3rd gen paint? having some trouble spraying them
I need to install some racks in my shed.
👍👍Very nice! Easy assembly and Sturdy. 🚂🚂
Hey Rex, I bought a Gaahleri airbrush on your recommendation. Have they been still holding up for the past couple of weeks?
Outstanding, used mine several times this week. I've had many subscribers write me and tell me how much they like it.
Can't get it in Canada on Amazon kind of sucks, but there are alternatives.
Wish they had these on Amazon Canada.
GK7 and GK8 links look to be the same in description. The GK8 looks like something I want...
Barbados Rex, you have a problem with too much paint. I wish I had that problem.
You used the gk7 link for both gk7 and 8
Looks like a job for a rubber mallet.
great video cool stuff.
waiting on GK9.....GK1 i have and its great.
Tongue and groove? That's a mortise, my dude.
is it possible to stain it and you can still stack them
I saw the thumbnail and thought this was some rebranded Hobbyzone stuff. Have you used/reviewed the HZ ecosystem?
I do have a Hobby Zone rack, they're completely different from these. They use a thinner lighter material
@@barbatosrex9473 Fair enough. But Hobbyzone stuff is both easy to get and not too expensive here in the UK, probably because its made in Poland.
@@DavidLee-df888 oh for sure, being made in Europe is a huge difference
oh god, anybody else seeing the owlhat on that gundam bust?
I bought the ArttyStation from GundamUSA. Lots of Drawers. The Dowels that hold it together are abit finicky. Other than that i love it.
Being cheap I 3D print or laser cut mine since I’m part of a creative space with all the equipment
How deep are the Bucasso modules in inches?
6 inches. They're all 6 inches in depth
Mr. Barbatos any news about the Gaia colors
Was told I'll have them very soon. They're in route
@@barbatosrex9473 really hoping for that and thanks for all the help with all these amazing videos
They look fantastic well built I like them a lot. The only thing I’d like to know is the measurements how high are they? How wide are they and how deep are they . unless the measurements are somewhere and I missed it. !
I found the measurements on Amazon. Thanks.
@@scottkrolik4699 they average 12 inches across, 6 inches deep and 6 inches high
@@barbatosrex9473 Thank you !
Pricy but exactly what I've been looking for
Made in China + Amazon = more expensive. The racks themselves seem pretty solid
Nice
That is sweet i love to have them all very nice looking self
What is the price, because it shows that everything is out of stock. Approx.
I just tested the links I posted and they're all in stock
Darn, says unavailable now
$45 for some MDF shelves? 😂
Right, in Canada these things are like $80 each... Would cost almost a grand to get what was shown in this video... Yet some people are already throwing some money at their screens...
@@mikehunt7857 you could probably get some laser cut ones for less than half of these
I brought home some 1/8 and 1/4 inch mfd and I built a couple of cabinets and paint rack for under $20. If you have the time, you can do it yourself.
* looks at prices *
They can keep them...
I checked their seller profile, and it's a Chinese company based in China. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but then why are all their instructions in English and Japanese? Just thought that was interesting.
New vids🎉
So they simply copied Arttystation. Do you have any of the Arttystation products?
I have Hobby Zone, they use a much thinner material but are pretty good
@@barbatosrex9473 arttystation is great quality. Those literally look like they just stole Arttystations designs.
I wish I had the money and space 😢
Noice
Ehhh ... this kinda looks like WISH knock off Hobby Zone. Without the magnets.
Really? This does not feel like a good recommendation.
It's an okay idea but the design is kind of blah and the materials? MDF?
It's a cheap and nasty material that absorbs liquid and swells and splits, joints are weak areas that tend to bend or break. You can see how thick they've had to make all the sides so that those tabs and keys don't simply fold or snap when assembling. Which makes them all heavier and bulkier, wasting valuable space. Why wouldn't they make these out of acrylic or even plywood?
Honestly, there are a million different modular hobby racks out there and these look like some of the worst.
And the price? $50 for each of those little modular crappy MDF shelves? Almost $500 just to get the full set!?!?Compa these to the Valejo laser cut paint shelves or the LMG (Laser Model Graver) hobby racks and shelves - laser cut plywod, for half the price of these things.
Frankly the GK-1 is the only one that looks like it's even close to being worth what they are changing, and that's just because it has so many storage spaces. The rest are super generic and overpriced.
I generally respect the opinions here and often see this as a great resource for tools and paint reviews but compare how ugly, chunky, and awkward these are to any of the other shelves, racks or draws on that bench.
first
A beautifully machined system being bashed together by a half wit , really that was awful.
Made in China, that's a no no
It's a dovetail joint ,not a tongue and groove
Thanks for the info. I know paint, not carpentry, that would be my brother who can build a grandfather clock with his eyes closed
@@barbatosrex9473 well there you go. 2 talented brothers, loved your video....nice set up.
