My Brother is a Officer in the US Navy he was given a quartz Marathon upon commission. So, the military definitely supplies Marathon watches to their troops
I think Marathon did great with making a 36 mm tool watch, the size is universal and anyone can wear it easily, big or small wrist.
The tritium dial is really cool 👍

I’m curious, will they be releasing the 41mm GSAR with this white dial. I’m a big white dial diver fan, would certainly consider the larger version.
I haven't heard, but wouldn't be surprised. Also would be nice to see a PVD midsize.
I adore Marathon watches. I find the workmanship is incredible which affords this watch with a robust and hard wearing case. I own the same watch but in the quartz version and after 5 years the lume still shines bright and no problems so far. I have put the watch through a lot of hard abuse, in my workshop, in the garden and under the waves when I go go scuba diving with my Nokta metal detector. The sapphire stands up to knocks and the abrasive action of beach sand while in the surf. A great watch all round.

That is a good looking watch. I am surprised on how thick it is considering the movement and flat crystal.
I think it's all about being rugged.
I read that the bezel is tall so that one can operate it easily while wearing thick glove (in the snow, I guess).
The tritium glass tubes require extra space inside the case
Almost reminds me of a dive/field hybrid watch. The 24 hour dial is probably what gives me that feeling. Usually Marathon watches aren't my style, but I really like it on the bracelet. Looks pretty clean and the lume...wooh! NICE!

I've always been an advocate for folded claps, anything else Is just unecessary weight and cost added to the watch, It's a part of the watch that Is nigh on Impossible to break, it's "folded' away nicely, more comfortable. Absolutely no reason to have anything BUT a folded / stamped clasp on a watch.
Word to the wise I had previously ordered the 36mm black version and had to return it as it was a very very small watch basically a lady size watch. You really can’t tell how this small this watch is from a video .
I subsequently got the regular size Marathon and fits my 6.75 inch wrist perfectly.

Lovely piece, shame the bracelet only comes with a pressed clasp, quite pricey too compared to a Sinn 556 or a Damasko, although they have a very different spec/demographic.

I purchased the MSAR, wanted to know if the bezel should have any lateral movement. Seems odd, especially because the GSAR feels solid and it has great bezel action without lateral movement.
Mark real quick. White dials seem to look bigger on the wrist that other colored dials for me, if I'm going to purchase a watch with a white dial, generally it''ll be 36mm. I purchased the original SARB065 back 2017 with it's 40mm case, it looks like 44 on the wrist because of the white dial IMHO. Just my dos centavos brother. Great video again man. Thank you.
Also, the 065 has no bezel, like this does, so makes it seem much larger.

They are absolutely worth it. I have several other watches worth more but the day i first got a marathon i regretted every purchase i had previously made lol
Swiss, tritium, solid build, auto, mil qualified; well worth it.
Love the legibility of sans serif arabics on white! Marc please do an Islander version of this dial.

Hi Mark. Thanks for the video. The watch looks beautiful under the black light, but how bright is the lume under normal conditions at night? Could you easily read it at waist height or would you need to bring the watch closer to your face? When I was a kid, I used to have an old Tissot that had belonged to my dad and that had radioactive lume. It was great being able to read the watch at any hour of the night.

A bit small for my 7-1/4" wrist for my tastes, but the white dial variant is cool. I think it would look great in the 41mm with a white dial, as another person commented. Impressive that they are 300M and also ISO certified. Thanks for explaining the tritium lume so thoroughly. I did not fully realize all of that. After the lume wears out, does Marathon offer a service (obviously at a cost) to replace the tubes with new ones? The tritium/govt. issue type field watches intrigue me as well. I find it puzzling that they are mostly rated to only 30M WR. I would think they'd want them to be at least 100M if they're going on a soldier that might be wading through rivers or something like that, or am I missing something?
Marathon can do the tubes if needed. As far as WR, they are perfect for the "field". Just don't dive with them.

I agree I had purchased this size and had to return it as it was to small , it is definitely sized for a lady size wrist . I would add at this size the dial is a bit tiny to pick up on a quick glance . Just my opinion .

I thought maybe I could pull off a 36mm diver tried on the 37mm Victorinox Inox - nope looked ridiculous and the strap wasn't even big enough. I don't have huge wrists either 7 1/4"

I love Marathon, but I will never understand how they describe 36mm as 'medium'. At least they appear to have resolved the strap issue.
Marc, do you know how long tritium tubes last as far as giving off light? A few years a lot of years. I do not know. Interesting watch, it reminds me of the days when Rolex watches had Swiss T on the bottom of the dial indicating tritium.

Literally just bought the black version from long island about a week ago, wanted the white but it was only available in quartz version. Why does this happen to me everytime i buy a watch 😪 still love the black dial, best watch ive ever owned

I didn’t understand you mentioning something under the metal watch band, then you mentioned rescue?
He was talking about the "diver's extension" feature of the bracelet - using it allows you to slip the watch over top of a wetsuit sleeve without having to specifically re-size the bracelet for that purpose. folds back under the buckle for normal wrist wear and can be deployed when the watch needs to be worn overtop of a sleeve (more specifically thick diving/wetsuit material) that increases the wrist diameter/circumference. Marc points out that this is something that someone in the search and rescue business would obviously appreciate as a bracelet feature. Hope that makes sense.

Funny Thing is most Spec Op's won't use a titium watch. Why? Light Discipline. . While yes Tritium is used in Optics Like ACOG these won't give away your position. G-Shock with Back Light LCD is much better for Night op's .

36mm is a crazy size. If they make this into a 40-41mm it would sale like hotcakes. I am not looking for a watch, but I almost bought this. Had this watch be a bigger size... forget about it!

Yes it is but if you dont wear it it will stop as they rely on the movement of your wrist to make the weight go around and wind the main spring.
The date window completely interrupts the minute markers at 4:30. I am irrationally annoyed by this. Otherwise cool watch.

Too bad they use the SIletta movement vs the ETA on the larger models. The Siletta's reverser wheels are extremely weak! Great watch otherwise!

Dial/case ratio looks bad. Too big of a chunk for such a small dial. The point of the watch should be to read it at glance. If they made phones like this- they would sell none.
The mid size Marathons always do well; this is no exception to the sizing - same as the others. Though I agree, it "looks" chunky.
