Gotta say the good old G-shock 5610 has seen 100% of wrist time in the past couple weeks and will be on for the foreseeable future. Nice to have something I know will handle anything I throw at it. No worries about various cleaners getting on it, and wash it along with my hands every time. Plus, this way I never even have to pause to think about what is on the wrist before doing any cleaning. Sure I guess any of my divers would be fine too, but the G Shock is just made for this.
    Stay safe all.

I think I would take my amphibia and gshock gw7900 solar. I have a gshock g510d similar to the one in the video. Very tough watch but sadly not solar. Finally it would have to be the Inox I bought about 6 week's ago.

I have a Citizen titanium Nighthawk, that my ex bought for me while we were in Italy, 6 years ago. I figured I’d beat the shit out of it at work, and I’d just toss it when it looked like crap. I can’t put a mark in this watch and I finally decided that it loves me and I’ll keep it forever.

Interesting video and topic, Marc! I looked at my collection and I would pick only 2 watches for the apocalypse!
    1. Citizen Promaster Diver with Eco-Drive. So, it is 200m ISO certified diver that is solar charged and I think it has the strongest lume of the bunch. I think Jody tested it on Lume Wars and light lasted longer than Rolex Submariner. My definitive choice.
    2. Seiko 5 - snk805k2. Green, field like watch that kinda lasts forever.
I could pick third watch: G-shock, but it is powered by battery and I'd rather not take simple battery quartz that would die in 2 or 3 years. I imagine it would be pain to search for batteries...

  • @texanbill6032

I would only want a mechanical watch for the long-haul. I agree with the Sinn, but I’d have a Marathon GSAR, and a Damasko for the other two. All theee are extremely durable timepieces that should last a long time.

Id take ANY solar powered watch with some water resisitance and can give you barameter readings. You can use Barameter changes to tell if the weather is giong to change in the next few hours. G shock is fine but too many people overlook protreks. Also loom don't do shit for you at 2 in the morning so get something with a backlight.

The name of the clock used is NIST-F1 and it is the primary standard for time and frequency in the USA. It’s accuracy is within +/- 1 second in over 100 million years. Mark,..that Sinn U1 is over the top. I just ordered an SRP779J1 last night,...and it's on the way to the VERY remote Alaska location where I work as a pro contract firefighter. My quartz chrono (Isobrite 401 T100),..just decided to stop telling time. The stop watch function, including all the hands, work fine, but the second hand won't move in time keeping mode, nor will the hour and minute hands. I ordered batteries that will hopefully arrive in two weeks, just to see if batteries will solve the issues with the quartz watch, but I've got a bad feeling since the stop watch functions all work fine, but the time keeping does not. If I"m lucky, my new Turtle maybe the same plane that will bring the batteries. If batteries solve the problem,...I'm gonna sell it, as it's been recently serviced and documented as passed. Aug of 2018,...had my Isobrite Chrono serviced....and here I am, dead in the water with a watch that is SUPPOSED to have a 54 month battery life. I hate not having it on my wrist, but now it's basically as useful as teats on a boar. Having an automatic will solve that issue for me, and also give me a chance to learn more about them. I've spent a lot of my spare time watching your videos and those of others who are modding these Seikos,...and it gives me something new to learn about. I really like your channel and presentation style and have learned a bunch from you. Stay safe.

Take the U1 to the apokalypse because your G-Shock, although solar powered, contains a battery that will eventually loose charge. I just had to change mine and it sucked beause of three little springs hopping out of the case. That got me thinking of TGV, who made video where he basically said: "No more Casio for me, i'm casioed out."
Last but not least; let's hope that this is not the beginning of a real-world-living-dead-thing! Stay safe and well.

I've thought about this time and again, what would I grab in an apocalyptic scenario. I wouldn't grab anything automatic or battery quarts, so it would have to be something solar. In my collection I have 4 solar watches, 2 citizen eco drives, a seiko 'Arnie' and a gshock GW-6900. Out of those 4, I would most likely take the gshock, because of its durability and functionality.

If the world is coming to an end, the only watch you need is an Islander! Cheers from Denmark the Stig

I believe if you hold down the 'light' button for a few seconds on that Casio, it will then work when you turn your wrist, which is really neat!

Thanks for that! I do believe you are correct.

Hi Mark, I realise that you have not reviewed every watch on the planet, but can you advise. I normally do my own bracelet link adjustments and have just purchased the Casio Edifice ECB-800D-1AER which has the link adjustment on the inside of the bracelet. How do I tackle this one? Many thanks. Terry Davis

My choice....my JLC Geophysic 1958 Limited Edition. Robust, dead-on accurate, 100m WR, versatile, packed with the latest technology, ceramic bearings for years of service-free use, and can be sold for a decent buck in a pinch. It’s been a trusty companion for many years.

I really, really, love the Sinn. Great choice. Myself, I don't own expensive watches, out of my collection it is going to be a G-Shock DW 5610 and an Orient Mako II. Very happy with these watches. Stay save Mark!

Watch two is so unloveable but I like the moon complication and the S.O.L. reference!! Stay safe and happy and healthy, dear internet dude! ✌️👍

Lots of respect from Brooklyn man! But, would you sincerely take a mechanical watch with you if the world was ending?

@@islandwatch I assume for emotional reasons though. Right? How would you have it serviced after a couple of years? Even a non solar quartz one doesn't make too much sense as it would need battery replacement.

I've never ever heard of a Yes Watch... Very interesting. Thanks! PS. You have to include a dress watch for formal occasions...even during the Apocalypse because we're not animals... LOL. Just having a flashback to the movie Omega Man, with Charlton Heston having a formal candlelit dinner with his statue of Caesar. I'm sure TGV would agree. LOL Onwards and Upwards! :-) Thanks, Marc!
