  • This video goes through everything you need to know to diagnose and test things if your fuel pump is not turning on for your 2009-2010 Dodge Ram 1500. This will be very different if you have a 2011+ Ram, if you do disregard this video. I got in my truck at 245,000 miles and turned the key, the engine cranked and cranked but didn't start, didn't even try to fire from what it sounded like. Turns out it was the fuel pump. First listen and see if your fuel pump is coming on, to double check have someone turn the key to the on position several times and see if you hear it under the tank, then check your fuel pump fuse in the fuse box under the hood, this supplies power to your relay always. If the fuse is good, check the dark blue (wire color) and orange (stripe color) wire that supplies power to your pump that comes out under the fuse box, if it does not send power when the key is on for a few seconds, it is your relay. If it does, it is your pump. The relay is inside of the fuse box on the electrical board and cannot be removed unless you un-solder 8+ pieces. Better off sending it off to get repaired. I have never seen this happen on a 2009-2010 Ram 1500, please comment if you have. I think in 95% of cases it will be a fuel pump especially if the truck has higher mileage (150,000+) or if it sits with bad gas in it.
