Just wanted to say thanks EJ!, for taking the time to make such in depth, easily digestible tutorials such as this one. I always learn so much from your channel of which I am extremely grateful!
We love your presentations. Thank you for being so great so friendly and cool teacher. We owe you a lot. my deepest gratitude from the the other side of the world.
eyedesyn that new cineversity fields series is amazing. So many little tips and tricks I never knew. Properly beveling a Boole is probably as valuable as the fields stuff!!
it's cool, but it's also broken. If you save and reopen projects, a lot of the time you have to re-make the time remap as it breaks, it'll freeze on the first 4/5 frames and then kick in, if you make a new one, it's fine again, but then if you save/re-open, or have to submit to a farm, it breaks again.
OMG! I'v always wondered it must be possible to do something like this but I just didn't know how. I've never used AE so not familiar that this was a thing. thank you for showing this. It's going to open up so many possibilities now! I gave up on so many ideas before because the thought of keyframing them was just too much and discouraging. this is amazing!
Hooray! 😅 Finally C4D in version 2023.2.2 (probably even earlier) is able to cleanly scale the Bezier handles as you wish. In the Timeline window select Functions > Move/Scale and enter the desired value. Hooray! 😅
Hi, you was talking about webgl in some of your events presentation, and it was impressive, I hope if you can make a tutorial of how you use this technique with C4D , PLEASE many thanks
Hey EJ, could you please do a tutorial on the limitations of the time track? Maybe with multiple tracks that start and end somewhere in the middle of the main animation? I've found that animating the time track with relative mapping on, in this situation, does not behave like AE's TR at all. Each controlled track acts like a mini-version of the time track: it doesn't shift in time the way that sub-comps would shift in a time-remapped main comp. But if you deselect relative mapping, each controlled track starts, ends, and animates at the pace of the time track: it forces every track to match its 0-100 graph at the same pace, so that doesn't work like AE's TR either. I think that time track only works like AE's TR if all controlled tracks are the same length as the time track. With short tracks, and using relative mapping, we can fix this by adding a key to the short tracks at the start and end points of the main animation. Do you concur? Thx. (Or maybe you don't have to do a tutorial after all, if I've just covered it ...)
Great observation. I'm in the middle of trying to figure this out myself. It seems in fact that using the time track function does not work properly while using different animated tracks with different lenghts. I will try adding the keyframes at the beggining and end of the shorter tracks as you suggested. Thanks
Just a small addition - there must be a keyframe at the start and end of the time span for every track that gets linked to the TimeTrack remapper, otherwise things will go a little wonky. (even if those keyframes are just duplicates of the first keyframe still to come or of the last keyframe of an animation that has already ended before the entire time span has lapsed) In other words, wherever the first and last keyframes of your time track are, there must be keyframes at the same point in time in any tracks linked to that time track.
eyedesyn yes I have indeed! Although I’d like to know better about octane’s custom materials, like all of its custom settings. Maybe you can bring up a tutorial about it?
Hi! Been watching this channel a lot lately and what caught my eye is that you are using Mac all the time. Is that your prefered system to use with 3D and why ? Do you only use Physical renderer in C4D? Cheers!
It's my preferred system, yes. For the nature of my work (Mostly teaching now) I don't require super fast computing (yet) and I have an external GPU to be able to use Octane. Holding out hope that Mac comes out with a new pro machine before I am forced to go PC! :/ I use Physical alot but have been learning Octane as well!
@@eyedesyn I have this same issue actually. Time track shows up in the master take but I can't add it to any child takes (where my actual animation is). any idea about how to add the Time track to a child take? I have tried to include it as an override but I can't do it.
I've been struggling with this for couple of weeks nog, finally a good and to the point video. Thanks man! I assume this also works with the rendering of motion blur?
It works, but every time I close and re-open the project, the animation doesn't play properly and is messed up. The only fix is to delete the time track and do it all over again. Any ideas how to get around this?
awesome, i have a football stadium crowd project, and i need to put a huge number of characters with many animations, now am using redshift proxies it good with fast view port but i cant randomize the proxy animation inside cloner even with mograph effectors, do you know how to fix this issue "randomiez RS proxy inside cloner" ? .. thank you so much for all amazing tips and tricks videos ❤

What a wonderful moment, brother you are solid, have already been stuck somewhere and I truly needed to figure out how can I do time remapping on cinema 4d, then magically I found this helpful tutorial. Bro, you saved my time a lot. You won the sub 😀
So when I add a keyframe on the "visible in editor" or in R26 the "editor visibility" it does not show up in the dope sheet. Did something change in R26?
The issue is, when I have recorded of physical animation of falling cubes which made by cloner, after apply time remapping null, suddenly animation randomized and cubes start to rotate...
i know this is old im sorry to ask this but when i apply the same steps my animation extend and become longer my timeline is 200F but my animation is only 80F could that be the reason ?
thats because its a generated animation and not keyframed, youd need to bake the springiness to keyframes using the bake function, once it's turned into keyframes, you can use time tracks on it.
Sorry I'll refund your money so sorry to disappoint. You know I really do like to talk though, it's one of my favorite things. What would you like to talk about? I could just chat all day. I think I had too much coffee. Can you have too much coffee? I don't think that's a thing.
Probably the best c4d tip ever.
Works really well for retiming tracked cameras when someone goes and ramps the footage on you after you've already tracked it. Thanks EJ!
Another hidden gem uncovered! Thank you! 4 clients dislikes this time saving feature. lol :P
