  • In this video I change the fuel filter. I am not sure it was worth filming as it is the easiest filter I have ever replaced and you honeslty can't go wrong with this.

    Hi Andy! One thing I've noticed when changing the filter on my D2 TD5 - there's so much space there that I didn't really need to take the wheel off. It's definitely more handy to have it off but I just crawled under the car with a small bucket and replaced the filter from underneath. Super easy job. Again, thank you for this video!

      Nice one! It is a very easy filter to replace and most jobs on the D2 are straightforward 😊It’s a pleasure to work on these compared to modern stuff😏

    I should really do the one on my 75, it hasn't been changed since December 2019.

    Does your filter not have the water sensor that plugs into the bottom of it?

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  9 місяців тому +1

      No it’s only some model that have that.

    Hi Andy. Thanks for the video. What did you fill the filter with? Some sort of diesel injector cleaner? What's the purpose of filling the filter?

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for watching buddy!😊
      I always fill the filter with Forte diesel cleaner when replacing and I will put a bottle in with a full tank of fuel once a month. It helps keep the fuel system clean and reduces carbon build up which in turn reduces emissions. I’ve never had any faults or breakdown issues this far.

      @@AMSVauxhall awesome, thank you so much for this information. I want to try cleaning my injectors with TEC2000 agent. The engine can run on it, and normally you'd make it run just on the agent by bypassing the fuel pump etc. but my friend told me that there's no way to do it in TD5. Putting the clean agent into the filter might do some magic.

    • @lordzlomek
      @lordzlomek Рік тому +1

      @@AMSVauxhall Andy, one more question. Arent you scared that the cleaning agent will contain some micro contamination and when you fill the filter with it it'll get into the injection system? Normally the kits for agents that are used for cleaning contain a small one-time use filter.

      @@lordzlomek not at all! I’ve used this stuff in my own and customer diesel motors for years and never had any issues. Infact, I’ve never had any fuel system issues so I’m confident it does it’s job and more but only if used regularly. Using it once in a blue moon will do nothing

      @@AMSVauxhall Thanks Andy! I managed to perform the whole operation successfully. Filled the new filter with TEC 2000, ran the engine on it for approximately 20-30 minutes and then added a 2nd bottle of the agent to the fuel tank, mixed with about 10 litres of fuel. Drove about 100 km on it and then replaced the filter again. I can feel the difference in how the injectors are running. They're still not perfect but it's better than before.

    The question or difficulty was removing the electric relay! Knowing ho to do that was the first challenge!

      Why were you removing the electric relay?

  • @tomcross5004

    Filling the filter with additive is a pointless exercise as the fuel filter is on the return and anything you put in it goes straight to the tank.

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  8 місяців тому

      Incorrect buddy. A filter only on the return would be absolutely pointless and no system in the world would work that way.

      @@AMSVauxhall have a look at a Td5 fuel system diagram! FPR is fed direct from pump, through the engine and out through the fuel cooler back to the filter.

    Pump the accelerator pedal 5 times and it purges the system.

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  2 роки тому

      Not sure how that would work being an electronic throttle but cycling the key works perfectly and it’s very audible when the air has been purged through by the pump

      @@AMSVauxhall it's a built in programme to help get the air out I believe. Way above me but it worked for me when mine wouldn't go. Pumped it 5 times left it to cycle and then boom away she went. Cheers

      As said, pump the pedal 5 or 6 times. You'll see the engine light start flashing, this means it's running the purge cycle. You'll hear the pump in action, after a couple of mins the pump should go quiet. Switch ,wait a few seconds and then it should start.

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  Рік тому

      Cycling the keys works perfectly as it is obvious when the air is purged by sound of pump.
