    Hi your work has helped me so much over the years thanks for all your efforts. I just got a d2 td5 with all the injectors out I haven't a clue which one goes where, the injectors I have have 12343 on them apart from the codes which I also have no clue and no computer or nanocom

    Great educational stuff Chris and bang on song, my Iveco F1C 3l motor is giving me grief atm, I have good MAF readings with the EGR electro-valve electrically disconnected, reconnected and my live data goes from (correct) 20g/s down to 6-7g/s @ idle and she runs rough. Electro-valve gets hot fairly quickly. I need to scope that output, I believe it should be pulse width modulated and I think it's on 100% which potentially effects references for other sensors - I just need to prove that before it goes to the main dealer!! Unless there's another sensor that could fool the ECM to give 100%, no EML, well until I yanked out the electro-valve plug.

    Very informative Chris thank you. I'm currently struggling with bore wash and possibly runaway engine (if I'd start it again!) AFTER doing injector seals....i suspect (hope) I've got a faulty injector, not a cracked head.
    I changed the seals and washers then started it up and it ran fine for 5 minutes but then started knocking and smoking badly. I managed to turn it off with the key to discover my sump was full of diesel (25l) and I had either mis seated a rubber o ring on inj.5 or it was out of spec, as subsequent checks shown when ignition was on position 2, injector 5 was pouring fuel into the cam carrier.
    Full drain down, new oil and reseated all injectors and double checked for leaks topside on ignition 2. Started it up it ran for 10 seconds then knocking/smoke and revs rose rapidly and very high. It either cut out then or I managed to stall it, not sure which in the panic!
    A lot of black oily crap was blown out somewhere the exhaust side of the engine but I can't see where from.
    I've pulled injectors again this morning, after releasing pressure at FPR but have no diesel in cam carrier, normal sump level and no diesel in bores when turning by hand. I did have some ejected from cylinder 5 at first but took that to be because that was the first injector I pulled?
    Plan is to send injector 5 or maybe all of them for testing then take it from there, what are your thoughts?
    The whiteboard sessions and covering other marques is great, I've enjoyed your videos on your workplace and the HGV stuff especially. Cheers

      my first thought would be to check the wiring connectors on the injectors to see if there is correct signals to the injectors.

      @@trailerfitter2 Thanks for the reply! Would I need an oscilloscope to do that or multimeter do? I should mention it's a brand new oem injector loom as well

    Excellent video Chris. A quick question, the green pipe (2nd from the left) has split on mine, I assume this is the HP pipe through to the fuel regulator?

    I have a landrover discovery td5 that has cut out twice, I think my other half ran it out of diesel although the guage is showing off the red it is still low. Ive been told to purge the system it needs at least 10 litres of fuel in the system, is that correct? I have put 8 litres in the tank and its still not purging, the pump is working as i can ear it, it also had a new pump in. Im confused where to go from here to get the air out if its got air in the system, would towing do it? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi, could you answer me a question? I am thinking in a buy a discovery II td5 lastest version (2003). This car has a problem the fuel get in to the cooler fluid, do you think is a problem about inyection cooling? or it´s something serious, that make me not to buy the car?, thanks for your answer when you can.

    can you tell me where to purchase and who you recommend I purchase from. the front swivel ball kit with seals, bearings, shims, well everything except the actual swivel ball. mine are in good shape.. 94 LWB(USA) with abs. I apologize if there was someplace better to contact you..

    Hi pal. I've been td I need to install a non return fuel valve on my discovery 2 td5 due to bad starting. Where do I fit the valve in the fuel system. The fuel filter has 4 connections! Thanks in advance

    The td5 system is 15P for me, and the diesel regulator is 10P for me. What is the solution, given that we do not have available spare parts in Asia?

    Can i access the said seals by taking the regulator off? Had all new injectors in to stop fuel getting in the oil and its still happening so want to try this

    Got a problem on my td5 Disco. After about 1 night it starts properly but then dies after 3-4 secs running. Then I need to crank for about 10 seconds to get it startet again. Driving is fine and has enough power. No diesel leaking. Already changed injector sealings, fuel filter, duck bill. I guess I got diesel runnung back/sucking air somewhere. Where could that be? May you help me? :-)

    my td5 started hesitating up hills and then started misfiring and then cut out. Its now a crank no start but between it hesitating and it being a crank no start it started with foot flat down and with the nose pointed down hill. I have checked the relay and fuse and can hear the relay working. I cannot hear any pump noise. It has never made the whining cat noise but it did used to make an electrical noise (motor noise) quite loud in the last few months. Its a 2004 and has done 100,800 miles. I think its trying to celebrate by getting itself some new parts. My question is, does this seem like a
    pump problem?

      I'd say pump would be a very good place to start mate. You should hear it priming on ignition 2

      Have you put a scanner on it or got DTCs from the ECU or looked at the live data for comaprision between good and bad voltage signals?

      It wasn't bringing any DTCs up until the engine management light came on and it went into limp mode, it would tick over but there was no throttle at all. Plugged Hawkeye Total in and it came back Driver demand faulty, give the throttle a good shake and its been ok so far..thought it might be a tps on its way out.
