Beautiful Phal! I put large pieces of bark on top of roots to “train” them into the pot. Think I will try paper towels as will be more gentle. May the Lord also bless you and your family ❤️
Dear Amy, I’m new to watching your videos, and I tell ya, I’m hooked. The care and attention you give your plants must feel so rewarding with all the beauty and abundance they give back. Your collection is by far one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, thank you for sharing, teaching and inspiring 🌺🌸🌷🌼
Hi Amy. Yesterday I updated my orchid binder with photos and information. I need to share the story about my phal Coral Blush. She was given to me to rescue in April 2019. I put her in NZ spagham moss. She wasn't doing well this year so in March '21 I cleaned up her roots, I staked her upright and placed the stake in floral foam, and I potted her in Orchiada bark. She has Thrived this year and she is my only orchid that has a flower spike! It amazes me how one phal will hate bark and another phal will absolutely thrive in it! Thank you for teaching me to experiment and to listen to my orchids. Happy growing. 🙋♀️
That is one gorgeous orchid! And I'm going to do the paper towel tip today. ☺️ I love your top. Beautiful color with flowers on it. 🥰 Thank you for another wonderful video. Have a great day and week. Tammy in N AL 🙋♀️
I have been told the flowers from the secondary flower stems are not as nice as the ones from the main stem and that’s why some people cut off the main stem after the flowers are spent. What are your thoughts on that, Amy?
My current orchid doesn't have a great root system. Everytime I repot my orchids in the past, they die. What should I do to help the roots out? And when should I trim off the bad roots? It's currently in bark with a little bit of moss. I only spray it with rain water. Thank you for being so helpful and informative!
Hi! I recommend you use the best quality bark and moss...that helps with transplant shock. And I keep a close eye on mine after I repot to make sure they are getting enough water.
🤗🤗Hi Amy and the human tripod! you made that look so easy😀. I love Orchiata for my Phals, they never loose roots when I repot in Orchiata. What ppms were you feeding her? That’s one beautiful Phalaenopsis, can’t wait to see her blooms again. Hope you and family are well. Lots of love ❤️ and blessings🌼💕
Hi Sue! I love Orchiata bark...it's awesome! I was feeding this one around 400 ppm twice a month. In moss, it was too much. I can feed at a higher rate in bark, but not in moss. I'm planning on feeding this one 300 ppm 3 times a month during active growing season. Always great hearing from you! Blessings! 😇💖🌺
I have a plant that needs to be repotted. It has beautiful air roots like this one. Although it has a really long stem that has lost several leaves over it's lifetime. Can i put that stem put that stem in the potting medium as well? I have not taken it out of its pot yet to see if the root system is still all healthy.
I also wanted to say to watch her closely. In April I moved Valentine '18 from NZ spagham moss into orhiada bark. She was getting a flower spike but had a terrible root system. I almost lost her. In June I put her in water culture for a week. She was in bloom but her leaves were shriveling and turning yellow. On June 25th I put her back into fresh NZ spagham moss. She got two new leaves and is getting another one and she has new roots too. I guess she just knew what she needed. 😀
Hi Amy I'm recently experiencing mealy bugs I was wondering if you have any suggestion on how to get rid of mealybugs? Great video thank you for sharing your tips. Have a great day keep safe and happy growing : ) Reah
Hi Reah! I've never had mealy bugs...thank goodness...but I've heard that alcohol on cotton swabs does takes care of them. Also, Garden Safe spray works on them. Happy growing...hope the bugs are gone soon! 😇🌺
Hi Patty! I have a repotting playlist on my channel with lots of different scenarios. You can see my method of repotting after you watch. Happy growing! :) Amy
💚 🎋 That phalaenopsis is as perfect as perfect can be! Beautiful even when not blooming. I've been using Orchiata Bark at times (small chip in my climate) and noticed a smoother transition from the store bark to the Orchiata. That pot of your's is the same size as my Sharry Baby is in now. Just measured today. Also I may have the ID for mine and possibly your yellow/magenta phal. I think it's " Fuller's Sunset." You'll have to check it out and see what you think 🤔 Thanks to your daughter for a job well done. 👌As always thank you for the blessing. God is good. Amen.
Hi Sharon! Orchiata is my favorite bark, hands down. My orchids transition into it like a breeze. You're really wise to use the small chip there in the desert. 🌵 It's awesome that you figured out how to grow orchids in an arid environment! 😃 I believe you're right...I think my new Phal is Fuller's Sunset! Thanks for sharing that ID with me. Have a blessed day my friend! 😇💖🌺
Oh yeah. Moss and dolomite don’t work. Totally breaks down the moss and rots the root system. I personally can’t use it because I have to grow everything in moss, even my vandas 😳
Thanks, Amy! I love a good repot - it can be addictive! Thank you to your awesome daughter/videographer-she does a great job! 🧡 Mary Ann
Well done 👍
Thank you for your prayers. Amen.
All my phal) are in bark and they’re doing very well hope yours do work is well good report
Thank you Amy. Beautiful orchid and great advice as always. You're a gem. The Lord bless you too 🙏🙏🙏
She's a real beauty! You did a great repot! 😍😍
Beautiful and healthy orchid! Thank you so much for the ‘ Paper ‘ tip. Excellent video as always. May you always be blessed.
Hi Usa! Always great to hear from you, my friend! Many blessings to you! Amy😇🌺💖
Beautiful orchid, beautiful repot. I liked your orchiata bark you used. Thanks for sharing. Blessings and Shalom.🙏🏻👏🥰
Thanks so much, Shirley! Blessings! Amy 😇
Very nice tips

Hi Lucy! Thanks so much for your sweet comment and welcome to my channel! 😇🌺 Amy
Those leaves and roots are beautiful. I have about 4-5 I will have to repot the roots are happy and I am nervous about repotting.
Such a beautiful and healthy orchid. ♡

She’s so healthy. 💚
Yay - thank you 😃 You make it look so easy and you are not half as messy as I am 😂 That is surely one magnificent orchid 🌷

Love me this phal! She looks amazing 🥰 hope you are well 🌸
Thanks so much! 😇
I have been told the flowers from the secondary flower stems are not as nice as the ones from the main stem and that’s why some people cut off the main stem after the flowers are spent. What are your thoughts on that, Amy?
The blooms on the secondary spikes on my orchids are just as beautiful as the blooms on primary spikes. Happy growing! 😇
Hi ms. amy what a wonderful and healthy orchid! I just want to ask how many times do you fertilzer in a month for small batch? Thank you!!
Hi! I fertilize twice a month with Better grow orchid plus 20 14 13, with CalMag and seaweed extract at every watering. Happy growing!
@@OrchidWhisperer Im confused ms amy 🥺 , does the calmag and seaweed will use watering? or after watering?

Have you ever used “black gold” orchid potting mix? I bought some and am a little unsure of the composition of it.
Hi Cheryl, I've never used that brand of orchid potting mix, but I have used the African violet mix, and I like it.

Amy, You advise to soak bark prior to re potting.
Why did you use dry bark for this re potting.
I just received this bark and it was damp, plus it was raining outside when I did the repotting. There was plenty of moisture.
I am a new orchid owner. When repotting in bark, do all roots need to be enclosed in bark or is it ok to leave open spaces around roots?
Hi Patty! I have a repotting playlist on my channel with lots of different scenarios. You can see my method of repotting after you watch. Happy growing! :) Amy
Amy,
What did you apply to the leaves on this orchid to make them so nice & shiny?
Thank you.
I use a slightly soapy damp paper towel to clean the leaves. 😇

I have found Dolomite and moss never work. It always messed up the moss and made really yukky no matter how ugh I used.
Exactly! It doesn't flush out of the moss at all and I'm left with a squishy mess!

Hi! I fertilize every other time I water my orchids. Happy growing!
