Isn't Cruel Lesson (or however it is actually called, I don't remember, it's been 2 weeks since I finished that game) a Level 3 heat action that drains it? Also, for some reason, outside of practice with Komaki, I couldn't do that move once

The creator of the games has a rule where the protagonist can never actually be part of the Yakuza So since Majima is part of the Yakuza in most of the series . . . .
Oh man, that counter at the start of the first fight was perfectly synced with the music, when a video starts like that, you know it's gonna be good! And it certainly didn't disappoint, very nice show there!
I like to think that the Legend fighting style is just a self-taught combat mode, where both Kiryu and Majima mix their other combat styles' concepts and strengths in a single one, resulting in a "perfect" style for their kind of moveset.
I like to think that the legend fighting style was just an anomaly where the respective protagonist is replaced with their dimensional black and white space and time void counter part which is why they someone gain new moves
For Mad Dog style: You can also counter him pretty easily when he charges you with his arms folded. Stance/Target > Triangle/Right Click right as he's about to connect. Stabbing him like that takes a good bar and a half if you've invested in this style.

Man. I just started playing the Yakuza series and the battle gameplay is just addicting! A sure clean Beat em' up with mix of various shenanigans sprinkled all over the place and an engaging story. I started with PS4 and only PS4 hence from 0, Kiwami 1&2, then the remastered version of 3, 4 and 5, then 6. I still have yet to see Like a Dragon but I'm really liking the series. And this video is honestly satisfying since Mr. Shakedowns are total tanks!

honestly, this video is a great representation of how to fight mr shakedown(without weapons) just keep your distance, dodge his attacks and remember his combos so you dont just rush to attack him and perform heat actions
I love breaker style, it's my personal favorite, bc its balanced and fun. It was also my favorite style to fight against in majima everywhere in kiwami 1

I just finished Yakuza 0 and for some reason. I thought at some point they would actually help you without the fighting. Like Kawahashi and oe became regular customers at the cabaret and Yuki and Egarshia became security officers with the real estate.
I want to give you a hard time for this, but I know damn well I would never dare attempt fighting Mr. Shakedown with any style other than Thug and maybe some of the others for Heat Actions. It's not even so much that Majima's attacks are weaker, a lot of them just have slow start up or don't maneuver half as well as Kiryu's 2 ton gorilla ass
How I would've done it... Thug: Weapons that fit into the archetype, or that use thug skills. Slugger: Weapons with proficiency locks, for reasons that should be obvious. Breaker: Picked a spot with plenty of shit to fling around.

Looked like you were baiting the Breaker freeze counter in the beginning of that fight - is there a reason you don’t go for this again? Looks like you’re always choosing to cancel and slip rather than try the counter. Obviously you know this move and would do it if you wanted. I find that it usually works great, but I also sometimes get fucking rekt. Is it just too inconsistent and dependent on what Shakedown’s AI does for it to be a viable no-damage option? The reduced hitbox/i-frame mechanics seem pretty complex in some of Breaker’s moves and it’s hard to gauge why I *don’t* get hit sometimes.

Well i used to do that in kiwami during majima's fights since it can be constant damage and can keep a combo going, there is also a skill in kiwami (i think its in 0 too) where you can switch styles during combos as well

For me, Breaker is difficult. Thug and slugger is easy
For me, both legend styles are the easiest and rush/slugger are the hardest
I actually don't like using Rush against Shakedown because it's always poking a few hits then running, as for Majima, definitely Slugger.

Think it’s moreso shakedowns have a defence buff against Heat actions and weapons, not entirely sure but it feels like it
