- Day 7.
Before I go further, please be in with a chance of wining this OX tools kit. Just follow on insta and do the rest.
Its a cold one and I think the build is taking its toll, or maybe its just Monday blues?
Anyway, here you go!
Still solo, still smashing it out.
Hope you enjoy.

You're a generous man, Liam, so many tips, tricks and detail generally unavailable to ordinary joes like me. Can't thank you enough you are a top, top bloke.
Thank you
I’m always happy to share what I’ve learnt by my mistakes, UA-cam has been very good to me. I’ll always give it back
Top tip for for anyone doing EDPM. Still do it in two halves and roll it over a plastic 110mm waste pipe or similar. This creates a rigid and heavy roll and it applies immaculately with good weight and pressure on the point of adhesion. Rolling without a pipe means it's floppy across the diameter of the roll and you don't get the concentrated pressure. Makes it easier, in case you're not a pro like Liam. Keep up the good work guys.
I look forward to these videos every evening, who needs Netflix when you can watch an episode of this.
With all this in-depth content taking up our evenings we should be exempted from the TV License Fee
HI Liam, still loving the videos, I am so glad you are still doing all the work with minimal tools, it shows we can also. I can't quite believe how far you have actually got in 7 days. I know you could do this faster with all the team and this may impact on other jobs, but for us viewers, this is the most instructive and real set of videos you have done. Especially as I have bought my build pack and plan to start in the next couple of months 😉 Really can't wait to get started. Cheers!
I’ve watched all of this build and you are a grafter plus all the filming and directing great job 👍.
The rubbers on, I’ll let that relax for
A bit. My excuse to the misses when it’s not working
Your content has been a huge help Liam, thanks mate 👍
Cheers bud, appreciate this series of videos!! This content is golden for us DIYers!
Another brilliant video. I started DIY 25 years ago - when I was often ridiculed going into trade shops for fittings and didn't know exactly what I was asking for. Thanks to people like you embracing youtube and more importantly, an open approach in sharing your vast experience, it makes doing jobs today a comparative breeze. I suspect you get a lot of work enquiries as when people actually watch your vids, think f***k that - what a lot of work ! Hope it is paying you dividends, you obviously do a top job, despite being a Yorkshireman. Thanks for the tutorials, sure beats watching Emmerdale.
Great video as always, that two-part gutter trim is a pig to fit. I had two lengths and gave up on the second bit as it broke so I just Polly top nailed it in place. For the price, there was no way I was going to order another length (stuff is utter trash).
Brilliant. Still loving this series. So helpful. Can I just say one thing. I'm not a safety fiend by any means but if anyone is drilling steel please wear safety glasses. I have been in hospital twice with steel in my eye and its not nice at all 🙈🤓. Infact I still have a piece in there now that they couldn't get out and it's healed over 🤣. Keep up the great work Liam and crew.
Forgot to ask on your day 2 video. Can you buy the steel shoes pre cut and pre drilled?
Liam, thanks so much for sharing these videos. They really are appreciated by full tards like me 😁. This part of the build was what I was having trouble getting my head round and you've gone over literally every inch of how it works. Thank you. 👍
Hi Liam. Love your videos!
Have you used a staple gun as a second fixing to the top of the facia boards? @2:44
Is there a way to know a rough cost of materials for max size? What’s been the impact of the recent rise of materials?
Loving this build series so far. Doing it solo and the level of detail is brilliant. It's given me a lot of confidence to do it myself in the summer. Keep up the good work 👍
You must be knackered, spending all day being a movie star, then editing your own film, then going through the comments. Oscars next?
I also watched Robin Clevett copying you and working on his own. Great video but he doesn't explain everything the way you do Liam. Keep up the great videos.
When you put the corner pieces on the p trim, are you fixing it so the p trim now cannot move? Maybe a bigger hole through the p trim would help the warping problem? Brilliant video, thanks!
Roof looks great the 2 part gutter and the trim look great idea, I don't know what to watch when you've finished this Great videos
Very detailed again enjoying these now mate 👌
I like the way you work, fast and efficient. Love that you find the best ways to accomplish things even if it means you go against manufacturers and others advice. I think we would work well together! Got any jobs going?
Liam, thanks for the video series, really useful, probably worth adding to the build pack as a list of how to videos ;-) Quick question, do you leave the P trim without any sealant ? As far as I can see you have P trim on the Front, Left and Right and two piece gutter trim on back ? Is there any need to seal the P-trim against the rubber roof ? Or is the assumption that the water will simply run down the slope easier then trying to ingress between the P trim and rubber roof ?
I would like to no answer to this also have build pack and basically day 6 abd day 7 are my next lot of jobs
I have ordered the permaroof pack and they sent sealant for the p trim. I also watched one of their tutorial videos that showed the sealant going on just before you pin it on. Wondered why you hadn't used it? Great video by the way 👏🏻
Thanks for doing your videos Liam, they’re excellent and informative.
I bought the 3x4m pack. Worth every penny
thanks
Brilliant videos , I’m considering a sip pack - self build , but the rubber roof tips are gold ! Thank you 🙏
Anyone know where liam got the trims from i have seen some similar on ebay but there not quite the same. Can someone point me on the right direction please
Hi Liam. With the osb to the steel at the front could you have attached the slate battens to the osb first with little wood screws then clamped it to the steel and then gone through all of that with the proper screws? I’m just wondering if that would have been easier?
Don’t you put ventilation in the roof?
hybrid, low occupancy room mate, it works
This video series is brilliant Liam 👏... thanks for doing it, its a great help! I want to build something similar
GoodVibes
I am amazed at how quickly you are actually getting it done, one guy, short days. and to such a nice level of quality
Another great video showing all the details of fixing a rubber roof. Shout out to Davy for doing the video.
Bit late in watching this one - excellent as usual 🙂 But now get to watch todays one as well 🙂 Thanks Liam
I fit that 2 part gutter trim the other day after seeing a previous video of yours. Great stuff and easy enough to do on your own.
Love the videos, an avid watcher in prep of building my own in a year or so to come. Quick Q - what's the reasoning for adding a steel.. this seems to be new in the more recent videos? Is there a reason/change as opposed to timber framing the front before fitting bi-folds?
The steel is to carry the weight of the roof and the bifold doors mate. As far as I know if you use timber and it sags by as little as 1mm your bifold doors will stick.. that’s my understanding of it maybe Liam will have more information on it tho
Hi. I am loving this series. Having been a carpenter on a former life (Azores, Sao Miguel, Portugal), I am egger to build my own garden office. I have got a couple of questions for you. The roof, which is slightly inclined, front to bottom, because you want to cut your sides square, you have used 8*2 on the sides, had them leveled then cut the slop at the top. This means the from facia will be verticaly leveled so will the back but, how about your roof joists? Another thing, how about fitting a P.V. array on that roof? Would this be permited? Or does the 2.5m hight would have to include the P.V panels or just the building? Much appreciated for your videos, efforts and kindness which it does not go unnoticed. Thank you.
GardenRoom VII. What a great tutorial. Keep it going
Hi Liam another great video, thank you this1 will help me alot,
Were do you get the rubber roof products from? Thanks in advance
Brilliant as always Liam expert tips and tricks… quick question… considering wind factor and strength could you use the roof build for an outdoor gazebo without walls or would this be an issue?
Thanks!
Hi Liam love this series wish you done it months ago as been building my own and watching this one thinking why didn’t I do it like that lol
One question with rubber roof do you get yours from perma roofs if so did you get the rubber strip and if yes why don’t you use it? Keep up the amazing series
Hi, probably out of date now Liam but what would be the rough cost of the materials for a 6m x 3m build? Thank You
I have a question as many may have asked already… this particular build , what’s the total overall cost to the customer? You might want to protect that finger , looking nasty! Great vids still following the series.
Watched a few of this...brilliant stuff , but noticed that sometimes you fit the soffits before you have done the electrics and sometimes after. Won't the electrics need to be done first, up behind the soffit
Best tutorials on UA-cam Liam. Thanks very much. Also shout davy on the camera he does a good job in capturing the finer detail!
Great work again Liam, just watch out for those clamps I had to be superglued a few years back. Looking forward to the next episode. Cheers Barry.
Another good 'un. Liking the fine details you're showing where most people get stuck. Better than Corrie...
Brilliant tutorials, do you ever get involved with the fall of the roof to stop pooling? Many thanks
Brilliant great to watch as I’m about to build my first for my twin brother so you’re knowledge is extremely helpful
Liam would you still use your ground studding on very wet clays in a high water table
have done loads of times mate
Amazing so useful you wouldn't believe along with build pack refreshing my memory and saves me going to hunt all the info past videos, are the rest of the team going to film the cladding even if not one man just to see building through start to finish
Hello again, once again class work, loving it
Can you send me a material list out of what I Need please.
Hi would it be possible to lay a rubber roof on to a fibre glass flat roof I lay a Gpr and it leeks like a siv can you please advice
Me 👍
And if silicon spray doesn’t work, grab the lube from the bedside table. Works a treat!
Where can I buy all these soffit and fascia boards and trims please could someone help me
Looking great. 👏. Do you ever take your boots off or make sure they're clean when doing the roof to stop puncturing?
Brilliant video. Fast and showing honest unedited 'warts and all' working which is good as we all make mistakes
I’ve watched nearly all the videos on this channel and he is so good at explaining what he’s doing whilst he’s doing it it makes me wonder if he does it even when he’s working on his own and there is no camera. 😂
With a piece of scrap rubber that has a crease, try and cover it with a thin tea towel and heat it up with an iron. If that doesn’t work try a slightly damp tea towel
What about membrane and steel roof? Box section or fancy time effect if they're fussy?
Liam I have no intention of a build but I have watched this series because it is fantastic. You really should have a tv show.
Could you pour a kettle of warm water over the rubber to get the creases out? Just an idea.
Liam what is the wall thickness of the bearing box section..?
Hi Liam love your videos where do you get your rubber roofs and trims from please?
What product do you use to finish your Cedar cladding?
Do u recommend them rubber roofs. They are meant to last years ent they
Brilliant content, thanks Liam, your efforts are appreciated by us mere mortal’s
Try and get a carpet tube so weight makes a great contact.
Would be good to do a costings video at the end on materials
Quick question Liam. What thickness is the rubber on the roof? Thanks for the great vids
It’s the thinnest of the two options mate, the thicker ones are more for foot traffic
Hello ,another great video, learning a lot, thanks
love the channel mate, you're a boss. question - Do these have to be signed at all when built?
the vast majority of ours are permitted development, but id have no worries if they needed to be signed off mate
@@thegardenroomguru cheers mate, I wouldn't be worried about yours being signed off either. Just if I was to do it myself, I wanted to know what I'm allowed by law and if I would have to get it signed off 😂
You may just need to move the building a bit to avoid the need for Building control approval. Anything over 15meter square internal footprint & within 1m of boundry requires BC approval or to be made from “substantially non combustible materials”
That finger is still looking damn sore
Soft bristle brush, Repeat that after 5 🍺 🤤
Am loving these daily vids - great work as always
love these videos 1 question with the rubber roof does it come in different colours.
Claret and Blue?
Do you ever have to joint the rubber due to size of roof?, and if yes how
No mate, I’ll buy a bigger piece of rubber, always
Great video, awesome series 👍👍👍
Hollywood is calling you
👍
Is there a way for water to flow off the roof now, or is that all blocked off with the clamps?
Not sure what you mean
@@thegardenroomguru it looks like the clamps/finish that hold the rubber in place mechanically block off the water flow from the top of the roof as it forms a ridge? but I might be seeing that all wrong...
@@artofcode think you might be mate, the p trim is on the front and sides, gutter trim in the rear and this is the direction of fall on the roof 👍🏼
@@thegardenroomguru ahhhh gotcha, must've been distracted with the gutter trim and assumed it was all p-trim. Cheers for clearing that up 😂
You know how cold it is on that build when someone from 'up North' feels the need to wear a trappers hat whilst working! Hats off to you!
The roofing product you are using is designed to be laid in wet conditions and the preparation work you are doing is not necessary. I have laid many roofs of this nature and you seem to be over complicating a flat roof. However, I love your works on your garden sheds but hold some reservations about how you go about conducting and constructing it. Happy days.
You be you, I’ll be me, as you say, happy days
Great advice Paul..why bother when all the man's doing is telling a layman how, obviously a comedian as well calling it a shed
If I get an inquiry asking about a shed, I know 🤦🏻♂️
Get a grip Paul
Paul, if you can explain in detail what reservations you hold we’d all love love to know!
