Shoes are 150 long, lots on my self build Facebook group use just washers . I also sell a build pack for £130, all the information you need to build one of 23 different sizes and full itemised materials list 👌

Great video and nice to see other members of the team in action and presenting. With regards to ground screws, what about just using a full insulated concrete pad instead? £750 for the rod base. That area is 15sqm and on a gradient which means it has a volume of 4.5m3 if the area is 0.3m deep. You could put in a dpm, stone, sand and concrete in there for less than £450. You could even put your insulation in there and save precious internal height or keep the internal height and have a warm roof. You would be digging it out as this but without the holes.
Would love to see someone in the know reply to this as I’m about to use the rod system instead of a concrete base. Maybe this is better as any timber is off the ground? But then on a concrete base you could raise the timber frame by putting it on 100mm metal post base brackets right?!
@@FFTuk I put mine on a concrete base. 100mm hard-core, DPM, 100mm concrete, DPM, 50mm PIR, 65mm concrete with A142 steel mesh. The is then the level of the ground. I have a full warm roof build up which is 277mm thick and still have 2.15m internal height down to 2.05m before flooring and plaster board.

@@FFTuk I used 50mm PIR in the floor. At the time I managed to get 3 sheets for a tenner each left over from another job. The steel is now about £50. So really to do the job now it will cost as follows: Hard-core, between 1 and 1.5t so £60, PIR at whatever thickness, say 3 sheets at £150 total, DPM £40 (100sqm roll so lots of spare for other stuff), concrete layer 1 at 100mm, layer 2 at 60mm so 1 to 1.5m3 priced at about £250 for C25 and the steel at £50. That's a total of £250+£50+£40+£150+£60=£550. That's still £200 cheaper than rods and you get a solid damp proof insulated floor, zero or near zero floor height so if you went for a cold roof you would get a 2.2m internal height or go for the best option and have the warm roof and a 2.1m internal height and be without condensation issues.
Wear some thin gloves mate, helps your hands (I use ANSELL HYFLEX GLOVES 11-618) only a couple of quid and thin so you still feel the work 👍🏻. thx for all your tips & advice, I used alot in my GR.
I learnt alot of tips for these rooms off you, so i would like to give you 1 small tip back. When you tighten a quick chuck turn it back a 8th of turn (loosen) until it clicks then its locked the jaw! I keep seeing your bit come out lol
Hi when you helped Davy with the barrow, you should have turned it around the way it’s going to be pushed saves you turning it round before you go..ex tarmacer 🤗
I have watched loads of your video's now for info purposes for my 3.7x2.2 meter shed (man cave) i am going to start next week the info @23:01 about the splicer plates (stretcher plates as you call them) is brilliant as for my foundations i have dug out 460mm long x 240mm wide x 400mm deep holes filled with concrete and fiber (mixed my self in a wheel barrow to save money lol) and used 440mm x 215mm x 100mm Solid Concrete Block 7 on top (12 in total) to rest my base on lifting it 10cm off the ground my father in law says iv gone over kill a little but it is what it is, but i can not get 3x4 timer where i live at all so i opted for 4x4 fence post but the max they do where i live is 3 meter long so my only option is to use 2 of those splicers as much as i trust what i have seen you do i am unsure if it will work as my father in-law says those splicer plates will bow in the weight of the walls unless i use 4 per link as im thinking of doing what you do here and putting them in between (in my case) the blocks but that would lift my floor i am presuming in theory, have you had any issues with the use of 2 splicers breaking/bowing whilst doing your builds, i was more then confident until yesterday in my plan but now i am unsure as i am not a builder or structural engineer.

I won’t tell the missus I’m doing this and spend the difference on some new tools I’ve had my eye on! Could you do this method with M12 threaded bar, nuts and 50mmx50mm square washer for a 1.8 x 2.4m shed?
Minor observation but you carefully levelled all the top nuts then tightened them down with the spanner. Better not to move the top one and tighten the bottom one up

Where do you get your rod/shoes/nuts and square plate washer? I assumecthe shoes are the fitting you use to attach the timber toothed rods?

Remember I paid £120 less for my PIR and I managed to get the guys sorting out out my patio to do the labour for the floor.

Never an issue mate, when you board your floor, it spreads the weight, as long as the span between support is no greater than 1.2 mtr they are fine
