- www.ccisolution... Ron Simonson of CCI Solutions shows how an iPad running Presonus' free VSL app can remotely control the Presonus StudioLive. This is truly a game-changer - Adjusting the mix in real-time from anywhere in the room. Now you can hear exactly what your audience hears and fine tune the sound simultaneously.
Thanks for your interest and comment! PreSonus already has a limit protocol in place. With it you can ignore the device, password protect the wireless system, give and exclude FOH control and limit aux mix access. This seems to be working fine.
Is a separate wireless router required for this all to talk to each other or does it just use what's already built into the laptop and iPad
When the manufacturer includes a screen on their device, it's always super tiny, with tons of microscopic words and indicators fitting on it. But when they make their device compatible with iPad (WAY bigger screen than they would ever include), now suddenly the graphics are scaled so big that nothing fully fits on the screen, and you have to scroll around groping to see/find everything.
Cool, I was just responding to what you said 'they can't screw anything up that the crowd can hear' which is incorrect.
lovely little piece of history here! Was the StudioLive the FIRST mixer that could support iPad control?
and as long as youre still at the board or carrying your ipad you can fix anything they mess up.
I want to try using this for my church choir!
I can think of at least 3 ways the stage mix/levels can/will completely fuck with the foh mix, which is what you said can't happen...
and a good sound engineer would be at the board ready to fix those problems. this whole remote control thing is an extra bonus. of course if i was running sound for a bunch of idiots i would not let them do it. but i tend to work with musicians who are very informed about how the live sound reinforcement works. it really depends on who youre working with
actually they cant. if they screw up their own mix its their fault. but they dont have access to any of the main FOH mixes
Great board. Pain in the butt connecting and using remotely. And no way to reset 16.0.2 without connecting to computer.
why? they cant screw anything up that the crowd can here
Can you record from the mixer via firewire to the ipad?
I was looking through the manual for the 1602 and noticed the Channel Zoom Page from the Ipad remote (page 91) . The display shows the EQ functions having Low, LowMid, HighMid, High. Does that mean the user has four points of eq control through the ipad on the 1602? Same with adjustable Q on 1602?
I have the 1818vsl and plan on using this Ipad app as the main control. I am seriously concerned that in this video he hits buttons at least 5 times where the buttons do not respond on the first touch I plan on using this as a live mixer and that is just unacceptable. Are the buttons and controls too small or what's the deal. Any comments from users would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Oh yes they can
or maybe i work with musicians who actually know what theyre doing. if you didnt know, from the computer you can lock them out of changing anything other than their own monitor.
@mckennatech there is no way in hell Id ever be giving musicians control of their own monitors lol.. noooo
In our venue, nobody has abused the privilege, and they're happier. Happy musicians=better show.
ok lol, your clearly not a live sound engineer
