Just wanted to say...This video was more helpful than any other video i could find by Prosonus or anyone else for that matter. I recently got the 16.4.2 and am trying to learn. Thanks for taking the time to make this!
Thank you! We have the studio live 24.4.2 and this series was so helpful for our church. Simple. Easy to follow, bite sized chunks. Thanks for taking time to explain the board!
Thanks for posting this. I'm starting as a tech at a new church tomorrow that has this desk but I haven't used a Presonus before. It's great to be able to familiarize myself before I start instead of having to fumble around on the day. Thanks. Lee. Australia.
Thanks for all the videos. I was running sound for our church a couple years ago and watched all your videos and was of great help. I was taken out of that position just at the time I was picking up all this information. It helped tremendously. Well they have asked me to come back and help again and I am back watching your videos again. Thanks so much.
There is however a way in "System Settings" to adjust where the mixer places the "Post" button selection in the chain, in which case you can have the mixer send the "Post" signal to your aux sends, before the signal chain reaches the fader, but after it's been processed by your compressors and EQs. Just hit "System" and then hit "PG DN" button a couple times, then you should see it. :)
@GuitarLuvHannah Only if you have the SIP button activated. It's located right below the CUE knob. Otherwise only solos in the headphones and the control room output on the mixer.
Trying to sort out the best way to provide a headphone mix to one or two musicians in a recording mode. I think I will need a headphone amp that has an input and output for each channel. Is that correct? The input on that unit would get signal from whatever SL aux output necessary. Gets a little more demanding if I want them to get a stereo aux mix. Do they make headphone amps like this? What would you suggest? thanks
Great video tutorial. I just bought this mixer and trying to get round to it. How can I send to the stage monitor(aux1) the soundtrack coming from my pc through Tape in, from the back of the mixer where my pc is connected?
You shouldn't be using post for your monitor auxes. Only use post when you're using the aux for aux fed subs or an outboard effects processor. You want your FXA and FXB to be post but not your monitors. Post means that the signal is sent after (post) the faders. That's why when the faders are moved it changes your monitor mix.
hello, first just bought the unit, and you are a life saver! im new to the world. so my question is after watching your video i got monitor speaker to work but is there a way to save the settings so if different say aux 1 user i can store their preference and not have to tune every time we turn system on, thx so much
Hey dude, Thanks for all your help, I bought a 24.4.2 in the end. Hey do you have any more info about the iPhone app yet. Presonus have said they are doing it, but haven't said just when they're doing it. Any ideas chum? Thanks Jonny
I have a presonus studio live mixer 24.4.2, I use it as an audio interface but for recording (DAW studio one 5 ) the gain is too small and the wavesform are thin. can I use PreSonus Studio Channel Mic Tube PreAmp to solve the problem, and can I cause noise when using it. thank you for the help
@01fichtner Your welcome! I welcome suggestions on what other training videos you would like to see and also corrections and suggestions for the topics I already did.
If you stereo-linked aux mix 1 and 2, you could connect aux mix 1 and 2 to a headphone preamp (like the Presonus HP4 or Rane SM26) with two 1/4" cables to the left and right inputs. The HP4 then has a standard stereo TRS 1/4" headphone output. Or use a cable adapter with two 1/4" TS Male->single TRS 1/4" female and plug your headphones directly into that. I think that may over-drive headphones if you're not careful. I've never tried this approach. Maybe someone else can comment...
What are the physical connections to make a pair of headphones become stereo monitor system? i have hooked up a pair of headphones directly to the mixer using a simple splitter, i thought that would make aux 1 and 2 work as stereo pair on my headphones.
I'm using the 16.4.2. When I press "post" on the aux, my monitor mix in my in-ears is really distorted and clipping. And when I move the faders for the main mix, it affects my in-ear mix. Also there's a delay between the input and output. I'm running it in 48k. Is there a way to listen to my monitor mix with post enabled in real time?
hello: hope you're having a great day, first of all I wanna thank you 4 taking the time to post the video. have a question; can a monitor be connected individually 4 each auxiliary output?
Buddy for some reason my aux isnt sending out stereo feed im only getting mono when i pan the audio i want to another side nothing comes out the headphones can u help
how do you select the two channels for stereo, at 44 secs you press the blue select on aux one and aux 2 lights up, but how did you link them before that? I can only use one select button at a time?
The Link button next to your panning nob. The light on indicates you have enabled the stereo link. You can only link the adjacent channel. IE: 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, etc.
Here's a video that explains that quite well. I was wondering the same thing, and was told that you can't put effects on single channels (vocals) in an aux mix, but this video shows how to do it. Hope this helps. And you may have it all figured out by now. ua-cam.com/video/tGMC7uuK3qY/v-deo.html
i'm a singer who plays guitar. if i use in-ears for vocals is it possible to get a decent guitar sound thru and in ear? do you know anyone who does this? thanks....
I know this is old I just recently purchased a 24.4.2 mixer I wanted to get it brand new but it's already discontinued I can't figure out the the rest of the Auxes like when I connect mic number 3 I tried to link aux 5 and 6 for mic 3 but I can hear the instrumental when I hit the mix in flip mode but I can't hear the microphone I can only hear the mic coming out of the monitors again I know this is old maybe you got an answer I tried to check everything also I can hear mic 2 in aux 1 and 2 but I can't hear mic 2 in aux 3 and 4 and I can hear mic 1 in aux 1 and 2 both mics 1 and 2 can be heard in aux 1 and 2.
Hey, have you found an answer yet? I also ran into this situation recently in our open mic session. All floor monitors are connected to aux outputs which has sounds from microphone and instruments. But we also has external music source come in via tape (2 track) routed to main speakers but not floor monitors. Student drummer plays drum cannot hear the backing track from the floor minitor next to him (only from main speakers facing audience) causing timing issue. So I am trying to find out how to route the tape source to aux output.

awesome videos thank you so so much keep them coming! I like when you clearly and slowly show and explain where a button is and what it does.
I want it to let you know that I like how you explain each detail, thank you.

Thanks so much for your videos. They are really easy to follow and have de-mystified the desk..Keep up the good work!
Excellent tutorial! You explained it very very well! At first glance of the 16.4.2, it's intimidating....

Just making sure you realize that you have to use 2 aux channels for a stereo aux mix. Example: aux 1 left and aux 2 right.

thanks so much for this great video. how to send effects to auxs? thanks again.
On the stereo paired aux's how do you patch out of the aux outs to the snake or wireless transmitter to have a stereo send?
hello: hope you're having a great day, first of all I wanna thank you 4 taking the time to post the video.
have a question; can a monitor be connected individually 4 each auxiliary output?
Does all this monitor mixing work on the 16.4.2 as well?
SAVED MY LIFE! Thanks man!
hey, do you still respond to questions on here?
Buddy for some reason my aux isnt sending out stereo feed im only getting mono when i pan the audio i want to another side nothing comes out the headphones can u help
how do i set individual channel on the board. like mics, pianos, drums, guitars and etc?
That Iphone app sounds pretty cool, although its just 1 more thing a drummer has to remember now haha
This is the 16.4.2 that I demonstrated it on.

I just got mine, and my mic is going through the mixer, but not coming out of my main speakers,
Can you use two aux channels as a stereo buss for let's say all your drums so you can add compression on drum mix and then send that off to mains?
you would send your drums to the sub groups near the main fader for that.
She look like she about to go to Christmas Convocation lolololol
Excellent videos!!!
what is the background song?
@JeanExpressionBand Glad it helped! Feel free to call me if you have any other questions. 607-542-9156

how do you eq monitors from mixer using aux's
in the Aux section hit the select button , thatll bring up your EQ for wherever that AUX is going , in your case a monitor . .
This so confusing!
Nevermind I got it you broke it down lol
