Thanks for another great review. I love the the FN Reflex is made in America. I hope I have the same experience as you are having with the one I pickup. My Gun Store has them on order waiting to arrive. I can't wait! I can't wait to see your 5000+ round review of the Reflex! God Bless Y'all
I really had to learn how to shoot the Reflex. After i spent the time learning to shoot it, especially it being my first micro 9, it was worth it. Its a great edc, and made me a better shooter. Love that little gun
I finally ordered that Tisas PX9 Carry today. Won't have my hands on it until either Saturday or Monday. They have them on Dunhams website for $299.99 for the iron sight only model and $319.99 for the RMR cut version. Update: It is very accurate, feels great in the hand, and now has 200 rounds through it with no issues. I would definitely recommend.
I’ve been carrying the Hellcat for 3 years now and love it for its reliability, but I’ve had my eyes on the Reflex for its trigger, so it’s nice to hear others pointing out the pros and cons of it. Thanks
As a Reflex owner, I feel very validated in choosing it. Was considering a P365 as well, but I'm a full size gun guy, just need 1 reliable micro 9. I personally think it looks good though, also it's pvd not cerakote, more contact durable but has trade offs from cerakote
Based comment. I like compact to full size but man does it suck to carry the bigger firearms. I want something I can take anywhere with me without having to dress to impress haha. SPN has really opened my eyes on carrying. I used to be one of those guys who thought small guns were dumb and never bothered to train shooting them until I decided to watch SPN.
Great comments guys! And you made a great choice. If you got an accurate reflex you made a smart choice. Very minimal recoil, fast shooing with great capacity. Respect! And love to hear that man. I realized in the past having larger firearms impacted my life negatively. Harder to play sports with the kids, had to be active, having to dress differently, having to pull my pants up more etc. now, if it doesn’t affect anything I’ll carry my 26 with a 15 round mag. But if I’m taking my daughter and son scootering through the neighborhood then I’m taking something smaller. Just train with it, carry good ammo, and test it and it will be good! Respect
I’m gonna have to send mine back it has let me down just cosmetically this summer. I guess my pistol wasn’t coated very well at the back of my slide and right underneath there on the frame is rusting out really bad. The metal on the frame under the back of the slide actually looks really bad like it’s corroding. Talked to a FN guy at a gun expo he said they should fix it so we will see
A big reason people shoot low and left is because they are using the crook in their finger to pull the trigger and not the pad. That's unfortunately for micro 9s because that's fixed with a larger backstrap for most people. I had to start running the large backstrap in my full frame glocks in order to get my finger in the right place without thinking about it. Thin grips have some real disadvantages.
I love my Reflex, ZERO issues! I watched some videos of those who had some FTF issues yesterday, so I put some dummy rounds in my gun and I was able to replicate the FTF issues some have complained about. However, if you rack the slide with a purpose the FTF issue does not occur (at least with mine). Most semi autos will experience FTF if you weakly rack the slide but the Reflex appears to me to be a little more sensitive to this. I’ve had no FTF issue while firing the gun.
I had too many problems with my FN Reflex, thus I sold it. It has a great trigger, but I had way too many failures to feed (go into battery)...I need a reliable pistol, I don't care about the paint job too much.
@@hixnada8278 It's unfortunate right? I think the last option we had was the Springfield XDe which was just single stack. It's definitely not a "micro" sized pistol, but my go to DA/SA "compact" pistol is the H&K P2000sk in 40 S&W. I love it, but would like something a bit slimmer. All the best to you in your search!
Regarding the issues people have with it, FN acknowledged and replaced my extractor and extractor pin to resolve my FTF issue. It had it straight it if the box and I had put 300 round through it in two weeks. I love the look and feel. It now runs really well. I will tend to shoot left and slightly low of center mass until I fix my grip a bit. There would have to be something really mechanically wrong to shoot low and left lol Thanks SPN for your content! Killing it man
That’s strange your finish isn’t holding up. Mine’s been holding up perfectly with decent holster time. It looks rough until I clean it with some clp and wipe it down real good. Also in FDE.
I am one of the people who was having failure to feed issues with my FN. I followed the FN reflex forum and did modify my extractor. I’ve put 100 rounds in it since I modified it with no failure to feed. I also added a Hogue grip to mine. I’m going to get a couple more hundred pounds through it before I add it to my EDC rotation.
funny you say that I did the same thing and it didn't work so I had to send it back to FN and the gunsmith cooked my bitch ass. so $140 later I have it back and it's running flawlessly no regerts 🥲
You nailed it about pocket carry in one of your older videos and the comments were brutal and it made me mad. I have carried my LC9s in the pocket long enough to wear holes in 4 pairs of pants and every time I run into one of my IWB carrying ninja buddies and ask them where their firearm is they tell me it is in the car. I just now got the hellcat pro and have ordered the Vedder pocket locker for it based on your review. It should shave about a half a second off my presentation time over the sticky holster I am using for now. Also it disappears in my big pocket Red Kap Industrial Cargo pants just like my uniform when I did residential HVAC.
I wanted the reflex over my hellcat pro as edc but when I was looking I saw a bunch of people saying the reflex was shooting low left and had some accuracy issues
They say the stoeger mags gotta be broken in, I am sure you noticed how stiff they were, but yeah that possibly could have been the reason for the one failure. So might not be enough to discount, I am sure you still have high praise for it, just gotta break in those stiffies it ain't no 60 dollar x macro mag but at least its still metal .
FN has been underrated for years since they got into the handgun market. Took my CCW at a Navy Seal’s shooting range and asked whats the best gun right now to use. He said FN ,that was back in 2013 roughly. Bought the fns-9. I would go to war with it. Better ergos than the G19. Never had a issue.
Big FN pistol fan. I think low and left issue was from the rear sight being slightly offset from the factory. I haven’t seen anybody with the problem on any recent reviews
I got one of the bad ones.. it depends what run you get. Mine shot down left, and jammed 50+ times 200 rounds. Sent in, FN fixed, then when I got back at the store the guy wracked it a couple times and it jammed again. So we sent it in again. Shot for a bit, then same thing. I actually got a return on the gun.. but now I wanna go back and buy another to give it a second try. People talk about a break in period, maybe..
Great video SPN! Thank to you for posting it. I’m fine with the dirty look, but wish the finish help up better. Is the black also a PVD coating. Lastly, I’ve seen a number of issue with the earlier serial number runs. Hoping they worked little the issues after a year being on the market. What thousands is your serial? 50s? 40s?
I love my Reflex. Never had a single malfunction and didn’t have an issue with the sights like others did. It does have a thin narrow grip but it shoots great. Love it’s trigger. Mine is black tho and I don’t have a problem with the finish. It’s part of my carry rotation along with a Glock 43x and a Shiled Plus.
I love my Reflex, and I agree with almost your entire review. It really does shoot strangely well for such a small gun. Recoil is unlike every other small 9 I own. That said, there is a problem with the Reflex extractor shape that causes a whole lot of these to have feed failures. The fix is easy but FN refuses to acknowledge the issue. They're a bit too proud of the design, which is unfortunate because the gunnhas gotten a bad rep for its issues. Once mine was fixed, I ran 300 rounds through it without a single failure. I'm over 500 now and no problems. However, when new , I had 27 failures to feed in one range session. Considering the price, and the reputation FN has, I really wish they would resolve this at the factory and round off the extractors inner edge at the factory. Zero issues with accuracy from the factory, in fact I find it so easy to hit target at 15 yds.
The reflex just went on sale but I heard some people not liking the reflex so it kinda put me off as my second hand gun I know I want another fn or a canik
I wonder if there will be mods to give it a more defined wall and a shorter reset. Hammer spring should be easy to change out to tune the trigger weight to your liking
Don’t know if you read the manual on that reflex but they say they don’t recommend dry firing it unless you use those practice rounds. Otherwise I think your right about the low and left shooting. First time out it was doing it then saw a bunch of complaints about low left. Saw one vid besides yours that said it’s the shooter and checked myself at range and sure enough it shot great.
Wore mine all year thru winter was fine now thru the summer it is rusting really bad and it’s spreading. It’s on the whole back of the slide and on the left side serrations. It makes me kinda sad I’ve praised this gun since it came out I love it so much!
Re the holster wear, do you wipe down your guns before you holster them? I find that if you holster a dirty gun a lot it wears the finish a lot faster. That said, I do think the finish on some guns leaves a lot to be desired.
I had the same reflex as you and really wanted to love it. But just didn’t seem to shoot straight. And like you I have plenty of other options so I got rid of it.
Pretty sure one of the guntubers had discovered that many of these came from the factory with the wrong height sights. They measured them and they were actually the sights from the 509 compact instead of the height that was said to be on the Reflex. FN has refused to acknowledge the mishap. Such an awesome trigger system and internal hammer. I just wish they would figure out the finish on them, and admit they messed up the sights on early models.
@@johnj.baranski6553 Measurements don’t lie. If the spec sheet says the sight should be a certain height but they are actually the height of the 509c it’s more like the company trying to save face by not admitting a flaw in their production line. Which could have been caused by a low wage dude who’s not even an engineer.
I don't think that's true. The 509 is a 9mm. If they said they put 510 sights on it, then maybe that might make sense, but I'm not sure that would have produced the right result people were getting. Like with SIG they use a certain height sight for .40 and a different height sight for 9mm. Well, when you go to.357SIG, the right height sight is the 9mm sight. Going from a 9mm sight to a 9mm sight, the trajectory is the same. With .357SIG the trajectory is flatter, but I guess doesn't really factor from 9mm to .357SIG but it does from .40 to .357SIG and 9mm. The other issue, I think one guntuber demonstrates in his video with context in the comments, is that they didn't understand what a "combat hold" is.. FN replied to him, that they use a combat hold to sight in the pistol. Well, he took his "low and left" shooting Reflex, put it in a vice, sighted it, and it appeared to have solved the left part, but it was still shooting low. In the comments, someone asked about whether FN used a vice to sight in, or if they used a combat hold. Referring to the combat hold as though they thought a combat hold was a grip technique rather than a sight picture reference. All I know, is mine shoots where I aim it. Whether I'm at 3-7-15-25-50 yards it does its part, if I do mine. The first few rounds I shot out of mine, I was antsy while we were running a line of rifle shooters, so I took some shots at a steel plate we have above our berm. I didn't expect to be able to hit anything, but I was surprised that I was able to hit like 11 or 12 out of 15 rounds from about 125yards, using 115gr Speer Gold Dot GDHP duty rounds. By the end of the day, I did indeed start hitting low and left, but it was literally like maybe an inch to inch and a half, but I verified with one of our range pool G22s it was just me, because I shot the exact same group, same placement with the G22. From shooting the Reflex, my FNX45, SIG P229(.357SIG), and Glock 22, I shot well over 500rnds that day, and just got sloppy. Still I was shooting within an inch to inch and a half of a quarter size dot at 7 yards with the group still touching the dot. I find it hard to believe they allowed pistols to leave with the wrong sights. The explanation, in this video, and people not knowing what the combat hold sight picture is, makes way more sense, than FN put the wrong sights on their pistols.
@@AikiRonin21 Did you really just type out an entire book for something the spec sheet tells you? And you can verify yourself with a simple search that indeed the two pistols come with different height sights or they should according to FNs own specs? Wow some people are just SLOW
In response to your comment on the finish and wear and tear of other UA-camrs and your guns. I believe they like me use non-kydex holsters. Kydex is the worst for your finish. Leather or get some sort of fabric tape and line the inside of your kydex. I.E Safari top end holsters are lined with felt or suede
Somebody watches T.Rex Arms🤔 jokes aside I agree. Been looking at this gun every time I'm in the store. The color is the reason I haven't bought it yet. I'm old school Black.
If HK doesn't drop the VP9CC soon ill grab one of these until it does lol. Held one and it feels fantastic. Triggers a bit weird and I'd prefer it to be a striker gun instead of internal hammer honestly but its not a deal breaker.
Seriously! I'm dying over here just wishing HK would give us an answer if we're going to see a U.S release. I've heard back to back rumors of yes and no. Praying it does because it's pound for pound everything I'm looking for in a ccw. A truly ambidextrous micro 9mm.
I not concerned regarding how a handgun looks, after all it’s either in the safe or in the holster. The only time it comes out is practice or if I need it.. I want it to run 100% of the time .. the end !!
I've got a question for you guys. The videos lately have been addressing great points. I currently have an xd-9 and I do like it. I want to get into shooting comps with my kids, steel challenge and stuff. I was thinking about getting into the PSA dagger, being a little bigger it should be nicer to shoot. I find the XD a handful and so does the fam. What is a good shooting budget option? Are the issues with the dagger enough to get in the way of a fun gun? $360 is no longer such a great deal. The canik mc9 and shield plus are both $399, although smaller. There are bigger canik around $430ish, tp9sfx I think.
Did you see that new bill to ban any semi auto pistol than can be converted with a conversion device to full auto? The geniuses out of NY SMH. I couldn't finish the video Explaining the whole bill it was too upsetting.
I don't rotate EDC handguns and carry a Glock 23 with a 642 J-frame. When going walking and hiking I do change it up for smaller Shield 45 2.0 and the Shield 40/357sig performance center setup. I prefer a small pistol when outside on the trail for less bulk. I might try a new micro 9mm but I'm not sure it anything is an real advantage over my Shield 40/357sig?
Finish wear isn’t a big deal in the grand schemes of things but it seems like it’s something that shouldn’t be a problem in todays age. I don’t care that much because I fell in love with how it shoots for a micro 9. My lady can shoot it too with her weaker small hands so that’s how I will justify this purchase 😂
I like that dirty look of the slide. Looks like it has been to Iraq or something. ;-) I don't like the texture on the front and back of the grip. I'd probably wrap it with one of those stick on grips. I don't have those leathery plumber hands like you. Keep up the good work!
200 rounds plus 150 rounds is not 3k rounds. 30 seconds in. My buddy owns a full size and there is a kit to replace the firing pin because it snaps in the 3-5k range. It’s an apex kit. Just saying.
At this point just quit watching the channel. You just comment bull crap. What grown man waits for another man to drop a video every single day to come and troll it? Lmao what a sad life! I’m grateful I have 3 amazing children, a beautiful, beautiful wife and awesome friends and family. I have a great life I couldn’t never this crap
I would do some research on the firing pin based on the full size and compact 509 which is a known issue before you relay on that one. Better be safe than sorry. Imo.
Am I the only one who loves the worn look on the Reflex?
I mean it doesn’t matter to me as long as it works, but would be nice if the finish held up.
Wear means you’re familiar with it, i view it as a positive, means you have good ability to manipulate it.
No. I am fine with it too. I like a used look
The finish doesn't matter to me. I like it once the finish starts getting rough. They're tools and tools aren't meant to be pretty
I’m with ya too. Definitely adds character to the firearm.

Wore mine all year thru winter was fine now thru the summer it is rusting really bad and it’s spreading. It’s on the whole back of the slide and on the left side serrations. It makes me kinda sad I’ve praised this gun since it came out I love it so much!
So do you like it better than the 43x??
couldn't get pass the grip digging into my palm
Re the holster wear, do you wipe down your guns before you holster them? I find that if you holster a dirty gun a lot it wears the finish a lot faster. That said, I do think the finish on some guns leaves a lot to be desired.
My favorite micro 9 is the Shadow Systems CR920 Elite. Seriously small, lightweight, and stupid accurate. Now, they just dropped the CR920X...
Really enjoyed your video 👍🇺🇸
I had the same reflex as you and really wanted to love it. But just didn’t seem to shoot straight. And like you I have plenty of other options so I got rid of it.
Same with mine. Traded it to a 43x about a month ago
Have they worked out the accuracy issue?
Idk some people are loving the gun. But I tried it about a month ago and had to trade it in.
I’ve heard the Hellcat was picky with ammo, I wonder if this is with some. One of the others was getting fed jams of I remember correctly
I’ve heard the reflex will shred your hand after a lot of rounds
man just picking one up dug into my palm just holding it
My reflex is one of my fav guns, had to send it back to FN first day I got it tho, the mags wouldn’t seat properly without an ungodly amount of force
Maybe they didn't mess up. I mean the odds of a gun company engineer knowing more than a guntuber is pretty high, no?
@@johnj.baranski6553 Measurements don’t lie. If the spec sheet says the sight should be a certain height but they are actually the height of the 509c it’s more like the company trying to save face by not admitting a flaw in their production line. Which could have been caused by a low wage dude who’s not even an engineer.
@danefuentes3877
With .357SIG the trajectory is flatter, but I guess doesn't really factor from 9mm to .357SIG but it does from
.40 to .357SIG and 9mm.
There are 2 companies I'll never buy purely due to brand snobbery: FN and HK.
To me they are the Land Rover and BMW of guns.
you should see my SD9VE, the slide looks good but the polymer frame is chipped, gouged and beat the heck up
You need to try an Elite SC
I know it’s a single stack but could you review a p938?
Hey, great review!! What ammo have you been using with the Reflex? I’ve been having some light primer strikes with a certain type of ammo.
I like my Gx4
The wear and tear on the finish looks cool. Guns aren't supposed to stay looking pretty when used.
I not concerned regarding how a handgun looks, after all it’s either in the safe or in the holster. The only time it comes out is practice or if I need it.. I want it to run 100% of the time .. the end !!
sounds like a solid pistol for sure
Hammer fired micro 9 comparison: How does it compare to the CSX in ergonomics and recoil?
I’d like to know this too.
I love my reflex but i had to send it in today for rust issues on the outer part of the slide
Bro I need that rolling tray
Would be cool to see you feature and talk about the Diamondback DB9 😎
They gotta jump intha dbl-stack game!
I was wrong 😂 nice man
Did you see that new bill to ban any semi auto pistol than can be converted with a conversion device to full auto?
FN has the best micro 9 imo… it’s my main EDC
fn isnt cerakote, its pvd, both fde and black
I'm getting mine tomorrow!
Pray you for a good one! Respect!
Can you tell us what holster you’re using in the Reflex? Could the holster have an issue and thus was causing the extra wear?
I like that dirty look of the slide. Looks like it has been to Iraq or something. ;-) I don't like the texture on the front and back of the grip. I'd probably wrap it with one of those stick on grips. I don't have those leathery plumber hands like you. Keep up the good work!
Can you recommend a good bore laser that lasts more than 3 uses? The amazon crap just doesn't last.
Mine is from Amazon, I use it everyday for 30 minutes and it runs flawlessly
200 rounds plus 150 rounds is not 3k rounds. 30 seconds in. My buddy owns a full size and there is a kit to replace the firing pin because it snaps in the 3-5k range. It’s an apex kit. Just saying.
You are so stupid lmao. 150 more rounds to hit 3k you idiot. So stupid lmao
Well that’s not what you said.
I was just pointing out what you said in the video. That’s all.
I would do some research on the firing pin based on the full size and compact 509 which is a known issue before you relay on that one. Better be safe than sorry. Imo.
I can’t say I don’t like FN. have a long history with them. I do believe that they will obsolete something in a heartbeat.
Did you check out TREX arms reviews on battle of the micros?
Looks like normal wear on cerakote for a carry gun.
My reflex has had an issue where it doesn’t chamber 100% and I have to slap the slide to get it chambered
Polish your feed ramp!
Is the FN reflex and the FN 509c the same? Which one do you prefer?
Fn reflex or hellcat if u can only take 1???
Next get a fn fns-9c and compare it for me
