I have a soft spot for _Mario Party 7,_ if only because having eight people on the board at once is a really fun and charming idea to me. (What can I say, I love seeing a crowd sometimes.) I just wish that 8-Player Minigames weren't allowed to replace 2v2s and 1v3s - they're basically souped-up 4-Player Minigames anyway, so it doesn't really make sense.
To be honest, I'd consider that the 8-Player minigames to fill those other 4-Player slots up too. As I always play the 8-Player mode in Mario Party 7, these felt like extra free additions you actually unlock at the start.
Me and my bud played sooo much 8-player MP7. We'd each play two characters and play it like a standard 1v1v1v1. Having control over two seperate charcters on a board made for a really cool twist on the game. Legit excited to see what you have to say about my personal favorite, MP8. A lot of people don't like that one...
that’s super fun haha - i do think 8-player mode is really cool because it gives players opportunities to create unique experiences that no other Mario Party could really offer. Thanks for watching!! I hope to not make the wait for the Mario Party 8 video very long haha - i hope you enjoy it when it does come out!
It's so funny that with the battle minigames, you have Monty's revenge and the final countdown, some of the best minigames in the series, and then... deck hands. Great video, man.
You should review Oops! Prank Party, it is the last ever party game ever made by Hudson Soft before they went defunct, and it is Mario-Party inspired and has 100 minigames and it is by the same developers of Mario Party. I hope the creator sees this because Oops! Prank Party never got a review and it is underrated!
A year late, but can you also review the Wii Party games? They're a couple of Mii party games that NDCube developed before they initiated the trash age of Mario Party.
I just finished binge-watching all of your Mario Party reviews and I have to say they are incredibly well done. Not enough people are doing long form in-depth analysis, and I was surprised to see you only had 1000 subscribers. Keep up the great videos, you're going to be really big one day!
Thanks so much for watching!! i’m so glad you enjoyed these retrospectives, I really like making them! I should have a new Mario Party one out soon hopefully
That Peach and Daisy art work is 😮💨 god damn they are so badass. I wish we got more peach and daisy games where they can work together. Something like Mario Wonder where they can kick ass together ❤
Tbh I like having semi-predictable bonus stars like in MP7/8. I think 5/6 is a good number so that you can keep them in mind while still not being totally sure of the results till the end. Do wish there was no shopping Star tho.
Mario Party 7 is currently my favorite Mario Party game (despite I love MP 3, 8 and 9 almost as much as 7) The reason why is mainly because I love all the boards of this game and there are amazing minigames in this game like Catchy Tunes, Fun Run, Target Tag and plenty more. I also love the game shop and all the interesting collectibles. Its funny because all the other games I mention has pretty great extras and a story narrative that I enjoy, and yet 7 is so consistently good and so I prefer it.
Thanks so much for watching!! Mario Party 7 definitely has some great minigames and some well designed boards for sure. even if i might not rank this game as my favorite in the series and have a fair amount of critiques with it, I do think that there’s a lot of ideas and content here to appreciate!
So basically the modifications to make 7 (mostly) on par with 6: Cut out single-player DK and Bowser Minigames Bring back classic Dueling (or at the very least, show the stakes ahead of time with no chance for duds) Revamp the Mic space altogether (up for debate but probably just replacing it with chance time) Change certain Bowser Time BS, mostly related to Star loss (I honestly like bowser time as a concept and the majority of its execution) Tweak certain board design (mainly Windmillville's pathing) Make the Blue Orbs usuable by everyone, maybe with certain ones more likely to appear MAYBE make 8-player minigames compatible with 4-player or 2v2 Seems like a lot but all of these seem really easy to implement and would make a huge difference
Fun Fact: According to ZoomZike, the pedestals in Bowser’s Enchanted Inferno are predetermined. Meaning it doesn’t matter which one you pick , either you get to the end or you don’t.
You made a lot of good arguments about 7 that left me surprised & understanding. This was the first Mario Party game I owned, so I mastered these mini games & learned to love these boards despite their flaws. I honestly think there’s a lot 7 offered that the dev team for Mario Party should try to implement in a new game, but you made a lot of great arguments regarding the flaws that exist. Also, does me picking Boo every time I play 7 make me a cheater given it’s S-Tier player orb?
i’m glad that you found the thoughts in this video to be interesting and understandable, even if you may not agree. I also can totally see how Mario Party 7 could be a favorite for some people, as I do think there is a good amount of things to appreciate despite my critiques. Thanks so much for watching!! also, nah it doesn’t make you a cheater LOL but it does give you a good competitive edge, picking the character that has (in my opinion) the best character item in the game!
Imagine if they did 8 Player Mario Party in a future game. 8-player Mario Party 7 was a test, for when the future Mario Party game releases with this gimmick back.
Cool video. Fun fact mario party 7 was going to be port to Wii but unfortunately they couldn't do that because of leak of time because of the realease mario party 8.
I believe the duel system was made worse in 7. You determine what is for stake after it happens, and one of the options on the random wheel includes *absolutely nothing!!* Mario Party DS somehow has it even worse than 7 despite having it happen before the duel game, since the stakes can be set so that the player in a lower place has absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. The player in a lower place can have a star be at stake even if they don’t have one, so it becomes a duel minigame for a star steal. If they defend their star, they get jack shit for it.
This is such an underrated channel. Liking in hopes of the algorithm bless your channel. Looking forward to more videos. Any other series you were thinking of looking at?
Thanks so much for watching, I greatly appreciate it!! i’m definitely looking forward to putting out some more stuff, some in this style for games like wii party, sonic shuffle, etc. but i do have some videos in the works that are a bit different too! i hope you enjoy them!
I wish on enchanted inferno that the islands would sink the players on them every five turns but then come back right away. The board gets too small with only three islands in play at a time
As someone with a lot of nostalgia for MP7, I feel like you did a really good job giving an objective review of the game. I love this game, but a handful of things really hold it back a bit. I think if they ever bring back 8-player mode (which they really should in my opinion) they should give the player the option to choose between 4 teams with individual controllers and independent movement for each character, or staying together as a pair with or without separate controllers. (I'm also glad to see that I'm not the only one to think that fun run is peak Mario Party)
i love your mario party videos, ive had a big interest in the game basically my whole life and ive learned a ton from all of them, even though i already knew a lot i somehow learned a lot more too which i love to do and personally, i think that if bowser time was implemented better on neon heights, maybe he would double the amount of the effects in the chests (not sure abt the back to start one tho, maybe theres a dupe added), or add more chests to have more confusion, or maybe the chests move a bit every turn (like a 1-5 die is rolled and all of them move whatever they roll), i think thatd be pretty neat and on windmill ville i think it would be a lot more interesting and fun if he swapped the places of windmills (esp if the board layout was better) although, i think it wouldve been better if these are possible effects of bowser spaces as opposed to a *bowser time*, though its also fine on bowser's enchanted inferno so idk
The triple shroom orb also lasts one turn longer than the magic orb. I think an argument could be made that it’s even better than the magic orb as roadblocks in general aren’t an issue that often. As long as you’re not hitting a thwomp orb or a zap orb I think the triple shroom is better all around. In a Tag Team match I think there’s no debate that the triple Shroom is stronger since you only have one team to worry about when it comes to roadblocks.
yeah that’s aomething that i’ve always found to be weird about Mario Party 7 - its minigames are great but i do not understand how they decided to split them up by genre. Thanks for watching!! PS - I’m glad you liked that joke hahaha
Finally caught up on all your previous Mario Party videos (which were all fantastic by the way)! I didn't get 7 when it came out for some reason (couldn't find it and/or didn't have the money), but luckily I eventually found a copy at a convention. I'm so glad I bought it because it's such a unique if sometimes flawed experience thanks to its exclusive mechanics and modes while keeping a lot of great elements from Mario Party 6 and accompanied by a quite strong selection of minigames (made even stonger by turning off the awful mic minigames), couldn't agree more with your ranking of it (and of the other games so far)!
Thanks so much for watching!! I'm so glad to hear that you've enjoyed the Mario Party series thus far, I'm definitely looking forward to continuing the series with the subsequent games!
I'll never prefer this game to 6 because the character orbs are super busted for some of the characters, the duals are terrible since you can't choose what you lose/gain beforehand, and the mic spaces suck. I also don't like the koopa kid spaces, but it's not that bad. I think the boards aren't that great, except for Pagoda Peak and Pyramid Park. My favorite minigame is either Fun Run or really any of the dual and 8 player minigames. They're all really fun. Great video Mark, keep up the fantastic videos !
Thanks for watching!! Yeah while there is a lot to appreciate about Mario Party 7, for me there’s an equal amount of things to critique. Your minigame choices are absolutely on point though for sure!
Yeah but randomly getting punished for no reason just because the game decided to hate you that day isn’t Mario Party’s thing. Sure Chance Time can screw you over big time, but it’s initiated by the players. Sure luck is Mario Party’s big thing but giving the players agency is what makes Mario Party fun. That’s why 9 and 10 are bad
I disagree that Windmillville should just let you choose your path, because then players would just constantly chase their opponents to the three star windmill without much variation. The map already has a problem with players going behind grabbing what people in front just bought.
Mario Party 7 is a mostly great game that just has no respect for your time. Whose bright idea was it to bring back single player minigames for the 8 player game? Why do the board events take so long? Why do the mic minigames take so long that you're better off just leaving the damn thing unplugged? I feel like this game (as well as 8 which keeps some of this game's issues) was in many ways partially responsible for the move to 9 and 10's terrible car. Because while the board game mechanics are good, people would just lose interest during other players' turns, so hey, how about we make turns faster, and also make it so that your opponents' turns matter a whole lot more? Sounds good in theory, right? Besides the whole thing where it led to 9 and 10.
I'm shocked you even included mic minigames in your ranking, i usually just turn it off because they never work right. They feel like too much of a gimmick to weigh properly with the standard mini games.
Are you also going to do retrospectives of Mario Party 8, DS, Super Mario Party, and Superstars? It would be truly awesome if you’re able to do retrospectives on those titles as well! Keep it up man! Very underrated channel to be honest!
Thanks so much for watching, I greatly appreciate that!! Yes, my plan is to do a retrospective for every Mario Party game, including the games you mentioned above, the 3DS games, and maybe even Mario Party E hahaha. I look forward to making those videos and i hope that you enjoy them when they come out!!
I do agree that Mario Party 7 is weaker than Mario Party 6, with the thing that hinders it the most being that it uses a similar formula to 6, but adds more randomness to it for the sake of randomness. For example: Bowser Time, how duels operate compared to previously, how bonus stars became more unpredictable, etc. I also feel like the day/night system of 6 not only added to the boards, but the mini games as well which 7 lacks. With that all said, I still really like 7 with its great mini-game selection (though I do personally prefer 6 and 4’s selection), great modes (though I do prefer the solo mode in 4 and 6), theming, and board gimmicks. I also liked how they expanded the amount of unlockables in 7 compared to 6 as well as keeping the orb system (character specific orbs aside). Overall I feel as though 7 is a great Mario Party game, though if I were to rank the Gamecube Mario Parties it would be this: 4, 6, 7, and lastly 5. With that out of the way, fantastic video and I can’t wait to see your video about 8 as I’ve heard very polarizing things about it!
Why do you like Mario Party 4 the best? The vast majority of the boards of that game truly sucks, the Mega and Mini Mushroom system isnt good at all and having to play the Story Mode 8 times to complete the game is super frustrating. The only enjoyment I had was the minigames and thats it, I gave up playing that game because how bad it was comparing to the other ones.
I’ve been loving this series so far, and besides waiting to hear your overall thoughts on Mario Party 6 (my favorite one), I was also looking forward to your opinion on the 8-player tag team! I’m glad we’re both on the same page about loving the concept in theory, but expecting more from it in practice. I admired your idea about having 4v4 and 2v6 minigames; how do you think the board gameplay could’ve been improved? Although it would be nice if each partner could move independently from each other, having 8 players take a turn would double the length of an already slow game. I guess each partner _could_ take their turn at the same, but that would break one of the biggest fundamentals that makes up Mario Party. I really hope Nintendo revisits this mechanic someday. For 25 years, Mario Party has stuck with the max 4 player limit, whereas Mario Kart and Smash only continue to get larger and more inclusive. As much as I prefer Mario Party, I gotta say I often end up playing the other two with friends simply because there’s more than 4 of us.
I really like MP7 but I do only play 2 player with my sister and we're always on the same team but it SUCKS that we can't move independently 😭😭😭!!!!!!!!! There's no "split up/you go that way ill go this way" I HATE being tethered!!!!!!!!
"Pogo-A-Go-Go is... easy for the 3." Really? Because I play it a lot in Superstars, and I find it pretty easy as the 1. Then again, I mostly play with CPUs.
I feel like you’re ranked most of these mini games, way too low, and a lot of your reasoning for why your rank them alone either doesn’t make sense or is just a very odd opinion. Like I said, balloon busters was like that was respect blast but worse, there’s no luck involved, it’s all skill. There are very few mini games in this game. That would be below five I think.
Great video! Out of interest if you remove the mic mini games would the mini game mean score be the highest in the series so far? Seems like the mic mini games are dragging the average down a bit especially the 4 player mic games.
Thanks so much for watching! Good question - removing the Mic minigames brings the mean score to 6.01. so still not quite as high as Mario Party 4's 6.44 but if you play without the Mic turned on, you are getting a better set of minigames (in my humble opinion)
Wait... what? Out of context, as someone who fell in love with Mario Party through DS or later 8 by being a young hipster, the active item mechanic seems like a perfect and ahead of it's time solution to so many balancing issues that seemingly were the most understandable issues were exactly the variaty of issues the Active Item System was designed to help fix/partially rebalance. Mario Party 6 or DS are a hot tie for the Franchise best with 7 in a solid silver for helping some issues while retracting some of 6's best changes for the worse, and 8 is a solid sequel for doing all the basics super well while doing everything it set out to focus on really well while also being the ultimate refinement of the non-car gameplay style(no offence to the new games, but superstars is grossly oversimplified and super mario party botches most of its multiplayer options even if it's the best Mario Party since 9 by utter miles. Such a perfect mixed bag of past and present(kinda like 7 in an oddly juxtapositional sense).
On the Pagoda peak happening star with the flaming statue one reward is a t-shirt and it's does NOTHING i really mean it NOTHING it's useless and it's just a wasted of hand energy yes i found it myself while playing this board you can thank me for finding that
I'm gonna be more brief with my opinions on this one since I'm making videos on the GameCube Mario Party games myself and would rather not give a concrete statement purely from memory like I have previously, especially since my views on Mario Party 4 have changed ever so slightly. What I can say is that I felt 7 was similar to 6 in being nothing bad but nothing exceptional either, though that's likely my nostalgia being stronger for 4 and 5 than it is for 6 and 7. There are some solid minigames here with my favorite being either Fun Run or Spider Stomp, but the lack of 4-player minigames does dampen things when there's even less than 4, which already had a small pool of minigames. I'm excited to revisit the rest of these games in due time.
Thanks so much for watching, your mini game choices are phenomenal here for sure. It’s cool to hear that you’re doing videos on the mario party games as well - hopefully you have a lot of fun getting to revisit those games, I know that I have haha. Thanks again!!
Also i am confused on why its a bad thing to have 6 bonus stars because watch this Minigame star you get by winning minigames which you want to win for star and orbs Shopping star and orb stars. You are going to buy and use orbs too so these can be easily worked towards. Lastly the running star. Just buy some mushrooms here and their in the shop and worked towards it that way. As you can see the minigame shopping and orbs stars are connected to each other Win minigames, buy orbs, use them. Just buy mushrooms sometimes plus mushrooms are items you will want. When you given a chance of a happening or red space take the opportunity. As you can see the minigame, shopping, and orb stars are connected to each other and can be easily worked towards and same with the running star by buying mushrooms. Yeah the happening and red space are luck depedent but the happening star has always existed before 7 so whats wrong with having a 2nd bonus star for a space.
Neon hights is very bad. The point of the luck in mario party was in getting TO the star, and in some of the mini-games. In neon hights, it's both getting to and RECEIVING a star. So, if you di great in everything, get good rolls, but fail a 1/3 chance every time, then you lose. That is so stupid it makes me mad sometimes.
I feel like on the GameCube they just made too many Mario Party’s and they all look the same. I know they’re all radically different, but they pumped them out. 2 years without a Mario Party was not an occasion to miss
Thanks so much for watching this long video about Mario Party 7! What’s your favorite Mario Party 7 minigame?
Fun Run of course. I love it so much
Track n yield
Fun run, the final countdown and shock absorbers
Battery Ram or Monte’s Revenge
Fun Run. I remember it being the very first minigame we unlocked in this game.
Lmao, you can’t be doing Florida dirty like that😭 23:12
Well, Bowser's Enchanted Inferno *IS* based on tourist traps, including theme parks.
I have a soft spot for _Mario Party 7,_ if only because having eight people on the board at once is a really fun and charming idea to me. (What can I say, I love seeing a crowd sometimes.) YES, been waiting for this and love how long it is. Really looking forward to your MP8 analysis, that one was a massive part of my childhood
Thanks so much!! i’m so glad to hear that you liked it!!
That Peach and Daisy art work is 😮💨 god damn they are so badass. I wish we got more peach and daisy games where they can work together. Something like Mario Wonder where they can kick ass together ❤
It's honestly wild how accurate your rankings are, literally the only difference I have is 5 slightly above 4
You can actually skip cpu minigames via an option in the options menu
Tbh I like having semi-predictable bonus stars like in MP7/8. I think 5/6 is a good number so that you can keep them in mind while still not being totally sure of the results till the end. Do wish there was no shopping Star tho.
Mario Party 7 is currently my favorite Mario Party game (despite I love MP 3, 8 and 9 almost as much as 7)

So basically the modifications to make 7 (mostly) on par with 6:
Cut out single-player DK and Bowser Minigames
Bring back classic Dueling (or at the very least, show the stakes ahead of time with no chance for duds)
Revamp the Mic space altogether (up for debate but probably just replacing it with chance time)
Change certain Bowser Time BS, mostly related to Star loss (I honestly like bowser time as a concept and the majority of its execution)
Tweak certain board design (mainly Windmillville's pathing)
Make the Blue Orbs usuable by everyone, maybe with certain ones more likely to appear
MAYBE make 8-player minigames compatible with 4-player or 2v2
Seems like a lot but all of these seem really easy to implement and would make a huge difference
I've played this game for years and I never knew you could play Solo Cruise with another person
Koopas tycoon town board from Mario party 8 is the better version of windnuvill, and one of the best boards in the Mario party series.
I’m fucking dead when he said Florida 😂😂😂
Fun Fact: According to ZoomZike, the pedestals in Bowser’s Enchanted Inferno are predetermined. Meaning it doesn’t matter which one you pick , either you get to the end or you don’t.
Mario party 7 will always be the best one, it's literally the last Mario game i bought
You made a lot of good arguments about 7 that left me surprised & understanding. biggest bummer about this mario party is the low poly characters models in party mode
23:11 That is absolutely correct. Florida IS an Inferno.
I wish on enchanted inferno that the islands would sink the players on them every five turns but then come back right away. The board gets too small with only three islands in play at a time
Top 6 Boards:
6- Bowser's Enchanted Inferno
5- Pyramid Park
4- Windmillville
3- Pagoda Peak
2- Grand Canal
1- Neon Heights
As someone with a lot of nostalgia for MP7, I feel like you did a really good job giving an objective review of the game. I love this game, but a handful of things really hold it back a bit. I never realized how few 4-player mini games MP7 has. I love a lot of the mini games on this game. It felt like there were more.
23:12 Florida?! 🤣
yeah that’s aomething that i’ve always found to be weird about Mario Party 7 - its minigames are great but i do not understand how they decided to split them up by genre.

What - You've never been to Florida? It's hot out there. Really hot XD

I used to play this all the time/ I would always play as boo lol
26:46 The Sluggish/Slow 'Shroom is UNAVAILABLE in Pagoda Peak and Pyramid Park.

I disagree that Windmillville should just let you choose your path, because then players would just constantly chase their opponents to the three star windmill without much variation. The map already has a problem with players going behind grabbing what people in front just bought.
This one of my first games I ever got best game
This game was a big part of my childhood oh my gosh 🥹
Amazing Mario Party reviews man
Mario Party 7 is a mostly great game that just has no respect for your time.
Can't wait for your mario party 8 review!
Thanks so much!! I’m hoping to get working on that one soon for sure!
@@marksrecroom Btw, what’s your nintendo switch friend code, psn, and xbox gamertag so I can add you? 😊
The more annoying a mario is for players, the better. I like when maps grief players cause im also trying to grief 🤷♂️
This is great content. Thanks.
Thanks so much!! Thank you for watching!
I really like MP7 but I do only play 2 player with my sister and we're always on the same team but it SUCKS that we can't move independently 😭😭😭!!!!!!!!!
There's no "split up/you go that way ill go this way" I HATE being tethered!!!!!!!!
Your channel kicks ass.
Thanks so much, I greatly appreciate that!! I’m so glad you enjoy the videos and I’m looking forward to putting some new ones out soon!!
"Pogo-A-Go-Go is... easy for the 3."
Really? Because I play it a lot in Superstars, and I find it pretty easy as the 1. Then again, I mostly play with CPUs.
You're forgetting the difference in ms. You can react faster and more precisely in MP 7 than in Super Stars just because of the increased lag
Hard disagree on stars being stolen is a bad thing. It creates funny moments and its great too see your friends rage.
I have personal beef with Battery Ram. 😭
7/10 video
Been a hard-core boo enjoyer since mario party 6 and didn't known of the item thing in 7. Nice
This is the bes mario party ever period
*complains about deck hands and says everything bad about it
*then plays deck hands music
seems legit
but ngl without a care is good music
37:20 weird… Idk if its a fairy tail reference or the other way around
I swear I know this BGM at 19:52, but I don't know where it originated from? Does anyone know where this song plays from?
it’s Monkey Golf 2 from Super Monkey Ball 2! One of my favorite relaxing tunes from that game haha
How is Bowser’s Enchanted Inferno similar to Florida?
It’s a joke on how hot it gets there I think (I’m not sure though I’m Australian lol)
I'm surprised you have 7 so high with it's unbalance and Bowser time. I guess only 3 and 6 are really good
Despite its faults, "Mario Party 7" is a quality instalment.
50:02 - 50:10 bars
Also i am confused on why its a bad thing to have 6 bonus stars because watch this
Minigame star you get by winning minigames which you want to win for star and orbs
Shopping star and orb stars. You are going to buy and use orbs too so these can be easily worked towards.
Lastly the running star. Just buy some mushrooms here and their in the shop and worked towards it that way.
As you can see the minigame shopping and orbs stars are connected to each other
Win minigames, buy orbs, use them.
Pagoda Peak is awful. People are just constantly using cannons and skipping interesting spaces.
i dont agree honestly
I'm sorry...is 7 better than 6? Or it's worse than 6 but not by much?
Neon hights is very bad. The point of the luck in mario party was in getting TO the star, and in some of the mini-games. In neon hights, it's both getting to and RECEIVING a star. So, if you di great in everything, get good rolls, but fail a 1/3 chance every time, then you lose. That is so stupid it makes me mad sometimes.
why cant they make the maps of the new games like the old ones. These old maps are great
jamboree seems like a certified comeback
@@mrpiccionedivino5598 Yah i think jamboree is pretty good. When Super Stars came out it was a huge let down.
When are you gonna launch Mario party 8 review.
Italy, Egypt, and Florida 😒
I feel like on the GameCube they just made too many Mario Party’s and they all look the same. I know they’re all radically different, but they pumped them out. 2 years without a Mario Party was not an occasion to miss
Nah bowser time is great
Actually i take that back its ok but not terrible
37:43 ?
Aint no way bros hateing on deck hands
This is the least good of the Gamecube Mario Parties in my opinion, but I do like the things it tried to do differently.
