There's really nothing to dislike, it's as saint row as saint row gets. Even the graphics and the color palette, are very saint row like. More then 3 and 4.
I think this is the problem. They've split their fanbase so far down the middle that we’re talking about completely different games between the first two and the last two. I've never seen something like this. I honestly don't see how anyone could like the third and fourth games if they played and enjoyed the first two. Edit: I corrected a few typos.
@@dianuevo8925 Agreed 100%! SR3 is definitely the weakest. And SR4 may have powers and aliens but it was better written than 3 and it was generally fun to traverse the city using all those abilities. It also had great weapon customization too. Plus the soundtrack was pretty darn good as well! Can't say any of that for SR3.
I remember the first mission on Saints row 2, fighting in the bar, the epic fight combos. Right off the boat fighting the pimps as police got involved, I felt immersed so quickly and now Im watching a video of a someone with a wingsuit ground stomping people...
Rest of the video was a great preview but you’re so out of touch at the start if you think saints row fans aren’t happy about this game because it looks too grounded. Original fans wanted the game to go back to its roots and be a proper gangster game not a sticking to a agents of mayhem health bar style game that feeds into hipster shit.

The only competition a game has, is to whatever games release around the same time. The reason why this game ended up like it did, is because they want to censor and make everything "woke" to appeal to a wider younger audience rather than their own desperate fan base, so that they can make more money. That's all they care about - money. It's no longer a team of people trying to make a good game like the fans want, it's big Corp. That's just the current state of a lot of the gaming companies we used to know and love, right now.

The Third was amazing because just when you thought it couldn't get more ridiculous it did. Although, it required the element of surprise to work, and Volition can't catch lighting in a bottle twice.

I'm just hoping for NG+ or at least mission replay to make a return since it's been missing from the series since 3. I'm also hoping for some of the crazier cheats to return as well cause turning on low gravity and killer cars in SR2 was one of the most insanely fun things I've ever done in an open world game.

Fans aren't pissed because it's grounded and not as crazy. That's what most people want. People are pissed because the developers do not listen to the community can't take feedback and call their fans haters. It's sad to see how badly they butchered what once was a great franchise. Man, I guess the majority of you guys actually like 3 and 4 more than 1 and 2. I remember being thoroughly surprised when I played the first one. I got it at random and had no idea what I was in for. I remember following the development of the second game so closely and being so hyped. The second game was *so* good. I hope you guys enjoy the game because it's clear people like me aren't the targeted demographic which is sad because I was looking forward to this game. I don't know why they didn't just remaster 2.

This was a really great video. The only thing I'd say is you say that fans were disappointed that the reboot is more grounded in tone, but actually I'd say that this was one of the things fans liked the most. It was the new characters and story which fans were upset by.

impressive video that basically summarizes everything we know of so far about the game also noticed how this is almost 100% unbiased and i like that well written, well put together and well done one thing though, i don't think people only got mad at how grounded the game become, people got mad because of how totally different it was to their expectation (old school fans thought it was something like sr1-2 while new school fans probably thought it'd be like sr the third-4)

Same except when the first one came out I was in my twenties and my daughter was just born so between her feeding/naps I would constantly be going hardcore on Saint’s Row! Now I’m in my forties and am waiting for the newest edition all over again. This is probably the only games besides the Fallout series that will have me taking GTA online game out of my PS4.
I like that Volition seems to have meshed the aesthetics of 2, 3, and Agents of Mayhem to create an almost comic book style mashup. The cars are very stylized and bulky like AoM, the guns seem to have the hefty sci-fi look of the stag and decker weapons from 3, and the map seems to finally be the SR2 successor we've been waiting for.

So far, this looks actually amazing. I mean if I can customize my outfit and gang and make it look like actual gangsters like Gambino Family or Yakuza/Triads; then this is gonna be a must buy for me.
Shooting from the roof and flying with a wing suit both seem quite fun. Wouldn't mind seeing some dismemberment thrown in too, like if you find a sword for instance.

It's actually pretty wild how backwards this was recieved when it was first announced. Trailer came out, everyone hated it (me included) then gameplay came out and we loved it!!! It's in a different direction than SR1&2. Games that were still over the top, but somewhat realistic and still involving that 'gansta' element. I'm still pretty excited for this game though.
Pretty sure it only made people who hated it just be indifferent about it. if some janky, low FPS, buggy gameplay of a game that looks incredibly unrecognizable as a saints row game was all that was needed to win you over. you are not the core fans who dislike the new games. the players volition needs in order for this reboot to be successful.

Because it looks like M rated fortnite game, the shooting mechanics are 100% identical to fortnite, just with blood splashes ... The second reason is the bullet sponge enemies, bullet sponge enemies only make sense in games like gears of war, and because of the weapons you get in gears, it makes sense to make enemies bullet sponges... 3rd: the fuckin health bars, the HUD is a health bar clusterfuck... Everything seems to have health bars, idk who thought putting health bars in shooters was a good idea, because its complete bullshit, it just pulls you out of the immersion. Number 4: for a game like saints rows that is known for being compared to GTA, creating a character instead of having a original main protagonist given by the developers is bullshit, they should give us a dedicated protagonist, like Arthur Morgan or Franklin, CJ etc... And lastly, which is the biggest reason of all, the fuckin engine that this game runs on, i saw allot of disgusting pop ins in the video, they ruin the feel of the gMe, and the whole cartoon look, i think if they use a less cartoony engine, it would benefit them much to create a realistic believable world.. because this saintsrow game looks exactly like the previous games , just on steroids

Speaking as a gigantic fan of the Saint’s Row game series, I have been waiting on pins and needles for this brand new, 2020’s technologically updated flagship! It’s every bit as good as I expected it to be. The co-op is something to look forward to and before I even started the video I said out loud “I really hope the new game has the Insurance Fraud side game available! I’m curious if there’s any type of online play besides the co-op. But then again I think they’re trying to avoid R* massive greed backlash with the online transactions. But I do think an online version as a part of the game would be a massive hit as long as they kept the transactions out of the equation! Hopefully they’ll move towards this and show R* how things should be done! Don’t get me wrong, i’m nearly addicted to GTA online but Take Two’s greed has nearly destroyed it. I’m glad to see Saint’s Row not repeating their mistakes. But I certainly welcome an online mode for them!!! 🤙

GTA Online has basically become a game of where if you got money to buy the different level 'cards' to get ingame money you have it easy and that's not getting how toxic the open servers was getting when i last played it to the point me and my friends was playing private server games, i mean i don't care if the only online gameplay in the new Saint's Row is co-op as long as it'll be fun to play with others lol, though due to SR3 being the game i got as my intro into the SR games i have a somewhat soft spot for the horde or as it was spelt as whored mode it was good to destress with XD and to be honest i'm REALLY hoping that the SR reboot has the replay feature at the very least or a NG+ that let's you keep you money and inventory when you start a new game after completing the main story stuff XD
I think this is the 1st time that Saints Row is coming out on PC, because before it was an XBOX exclusive and never came out on PC just numbers 2-4 were available on PC, so thank god we are finally getting it on PC after all this time waiting

And also flipping the script of the first game as we learn the carnales were small in stillwater then grew big also having the influence on the Vice Kings route that they have business and have cops on payroll.... Hope this saints will be close to 2 and 1 with gameplay and immersion
"Scarface: The World is Yours" had this back on PS2 and Xbox You can take out businesses/rival gangs, take over districts around town, bribe cops, sell drugs ect...

Great video. The game looks absolutely terrible. I can’t find anything that makes me look forward to it. I’m getting too much of a Ubisoft feel (like watch dogs 2, but worse) and enemies feel more like sheets of paper that are extremely dissatisfying to shoot. It all looks so bland and unsatisfying. I did like the car combat, though. Reminds me of Burnout. This year is already packed with high quality games, so I’m pretty sure I’ll skip this and maybe try it out at a later time, unless people hate it once it releases, then I won’t waste my time.
Reading these comments has made me realize that 90% of the people who talk shit on this game are insecure dudes who want to live out a ghetto fantasy to feel tough, but also feel threatened by and afraid of the idea that the game might ask them to choose a gender pronoun.
As long as it works (not buggy) and isn't greedy on the micros, I'm sold. I only need SR2/3 style gameplay and I'm happy. SR doesn't need to be a behemoth, just silly violent fun. I hope we get all the silly cheats too
I'm a sucker for an open world game with a wingsuit. I like that I'll be able to just fly around idly and still have fun with it. They're clearly not trying to be TOO grounded, they're just taking a step back from demons and aliens.
I just want to say thank you for making this preview, I now have a better understanding of what direction this game is going to be, I'm more hyped than before.

From my research I didn’t find anything about accessibility. Hopefully the developers have taken notice of some recent games that have done a good job with accessibility and worked those features into the game.
God i forgot this even existed, i remember playing sr3 with my friend waiting for the reveal to drop and being extremely disappointed, we then lost any and all hope when the saints row social media account pretty much killed itself along side any reputation they still had. The game play at least looks half way decent. but i still think it should have never been called saints row, at least then nobody would have felt betrayed.
This game honestly looks super fun tbh, I'd definitely gladly drop 30 hours at least, strongly hoping for a Nintendo Switch release soon The Casino/Retro Vegas district seems really cool to explore

It's funny a lot of people think 1 and 2 were the best Saints Row games, but I think it was 3 and 4. Saints Row 1 and 2 looked more like another GTA wannabes, while 3 and 4 were original, that's when Saints Row caught my attention.
Just hoping we get a saints row with the same charisma and attitude as 1, 2 and 3. Gameplay looks good, but got me scared with these gender fluid and 70+ pronoun looking characters.

But the world has moved from that, and so has gangster culture too I would bet. If they just did a retread of the guest two games I think people would largely consider it dated and stuck in the past.
I'm so stoked for this. I always preferred Saints row series over any other sandbox RPG in this sub genre. It had a air of drama when it needed to and comedy when it wanted to. Over the top like playing a playing a action movie but while people a criminal empire with a dubstep gun. Instead of being another full out gta clone. It was like a "ganster" game for the rest of us.
I'll be honest....when people complain about the hud, I just don't care. Yeah sure it may seem crowded to you, but I need all the help I can get. I don't want to guess how much health some dude has before fighting them. I like to see that they have enough health where a couple of bullets will do the job rather than wasting a whole clip and wondering why he isn't dying. The hud for me is helpful.
I think the game looks good, I am not bothered by the new co-op characters, if the developers do as they say and bring all these features to the game and if the game will run smoothly without any bugs then I have no issues. I am also glad to see they brought back character customisations, never understood why it wasn’t there after Saints Row 4 plus it is good there is no superpowers, aliens, a giant energy drink can man ‘Paul’ and ridiculous Holiday Christmas levels
This was such a brilliant & well put together glimpse, of the saints row reboot. I genuinely enjoyed the video & was pleasantly surprised at how well the reboot sounds and looks! Can't wait till this gets released!

Man, I guess the majority of you guys actually like 3 and 4 more than 1 and 2. I remember being thoroughly surprised when I played the first one. I got it at random and had no idea what I was in for. I remember following the development of the second game so closely and being so hyped. The second game was *so* good. I hope you guys enjoy the game because it's clear people like me aren't the targeted demographic which is sad because I was looking forward to this game. I don't know why they didn't just remaster 2.

This was a really great video. The only thing I'd say is you say that fans were disappointed that the reboot is more grounded in tone, but actually I'd say that this was one of the things fans liked the most. It was the new characters and story which fans were upset by.

I am PRAYING for GK to be good. It's worrying me though. From all the stuff that is actually shown it seems like it takes place in the Arkham universe as they reference the Bruce Wayne "death" from the end of Arkham Knight but the people making it are claiming it has nothing to do with the Arkham series and that instead the new suicide squad game is the next game in the Arkham series? It has me genuinely confused.

Saints Row is so nostalgic for me. Me and my childhood best friend played Saints Row all day during summer. What a awesome time
Same except when the first one came out I was in my twenties and my daughter was just born so between her feeding/naps I would constantly be going hardcore on Saint’s Row! Now I’m in my forties and am waiting for the newest edition all over again. This is probably the only games besides the Fallout series that will have me taking GTA online game out of my PS4.
I like that Volition seems to have meshed the aesthetics of 2, 3, and Agents of Mayhem to create an almost comic book style mashup. The cars are very stylized and bulky like AoM, the guns seem to have the hefty sci-fi look of the stag and decker weapons from 3, and the map seems to finally be the SR2 successor we've been waiting for.
I'm most apprehensive about the story. Honestly, I have low expectations about the game as a whole, despite the new gameplay features.
The fact that you refer to actual programmer interviews & Game Informer makes me proud.
I played every Saints Row game and loved each for different reasons. I'm super stoked for this one!

It's actually pretty wild how backwards this was recieved when it was first announced. Trailer came out, everyone hated it (me included) then gameplay came out and we loved it!!! It's in a different direction than SR1&2. Games that were still over the top, but somewhat realistic and still involving that 'gansta' element. I'm still pretty excited for this game though.

Because it looks like M rated fortnite game, the shooting mechanics are 100% identical to fortnite, just with blood splashes ... The second reason is the bullet sponge enemies, bullet sponge enemies only make sense in games like gears of war, and because of the weapons you get in gears, it makes sense to make enemies bullet sponges...
3rd: the fuckin health bars, the HUD is a health bar clusterfuck... Everything seems to have health bars, idk who thought putting health bars in shooters was a good idea, because its complete bullshit, it just pulls you out of the immersion.
Number 4: for a game like saints rows that is known for being compared to GTA, creating a character instead of having a original main protagonist given by the developers is bullshit, they should give us a dedicated protagonist, like Arthur Morgan or Franklin, CJ etc...
And lastly, which is the biggest reason of all, the fuckin engine that this game runs on, i saw allot of disgusting pop ins in the video, they ruin the feel of the gMe, and the whole cartoon look, i think if they use a less cartoony engine, it would benefit them much to create a realistic believable world.. because this saintsrow game looks exactly like the previous games , just on steroids

Speaking as a gigantic fan of the Saint’s Row game series, I have been waiting on pins and needles for this brand new, 2020’s technologically updated flagship! It’s every bit as good as I expected it to be. The co-op is something to look forward to and before I even started the video I said out loud “I really hope the new game has the Insurance Fraud side game available! I’m curious if there’s any type of online play besides the co-op. But then again I think they’re trying to avoid R* massive greed backlash with the online transactions. But I do think an online version as a part of the game would be a massive hit as long as they kept the transactions out of the equation! Hopefully they’ll move towards this and show R* how things should be done! Don’t get me wrong, i’m nearly addicted to GTA online but Take Two’s greed has nearly destroyed it. I’m glad to see Saint’s Row not repeating their mistakes. But I certainly welcome an online mode for them!!! 🤙

GTA Online has basically become a game of where if you got money to buy the different level 'cards' to get ingame money you have it easy and that's not getting how toxic the open servers was getting when i last played it to the point me and my friends was playing private server games, i mean i don't care if the only online gameplay in the new Saint's Row is co-op as long as it'll be fun to play with others lol, though due to SR3 being the game i got as my intro into the SR games i have a somewhat soft spot for the horde or as it was spelt as whored mode it was good to destress with XD and to be honest i'm REALLY hoping that the SR reboot has the replay feature at the very least or a NG+ that let's you keep you money and inventory when you start a new game after completing the main story stuff XD
I think this is the 1st time that Saints Row is coming out on PC, because before it was an XBOX exclusive and never came out on PC just numbers 2-4 were available on PC, so thank god we are finally getting it on PC after all this time waiting

Great video. The game looks absolutely terrible. I can’t find anything that makes me look forward to it. I’m getting too much of a Ubisoft feel (like watch dogs 2, but worse) and enemies feel more like sheets of paper that are extremely dissatisfying to shoot. It all looks so bland and unsatisfying. I did like the car combat, though. Reminds me of Burnout. This year is already packed with high quality games, so I’m pretty sure I’ll skip this and maybe try it out at a later time, unless people hate it once it releases, then I won’t waste my time.
Reading these comments has made me realize that 90% of the people who talk shit on this game are insecure dudes who want to live out a ghetto fantasy to feel tough, but also feel threatened by and afraid of the idea that the game might ask them to choose a gender pronoun.

As long as it works (not buggy) and isn't greedy on the micros, I'm sold. I only need SR2/3 style gameplay and I'm happy. SR doesn't need to be a behemoth, just silly violent fun. I hope we get all the silly cheats too

I'm a sucker for an open world game with a wingsuit. I like that I'll be able to just fly around idly and still have fun with it. They're clearly not trying to be TOO grounded, they're just taking a step back from demons and aliens.
I just want to say thank you for making this preview, I now have a better understanding of what direction this game is going to be, I'm more hyped than before.

From my research I didn’t find anything about accessibility. Hopefully the developers have taken notice of some recent games that have done a good job with accessibility and worked those features into the game.

God i forgot this even existed, i remember playing sr3 with my friend waiting for the reveal to drop and being extremely disappointed, we then lost any and all hope when the saints row social media account pretty much killed itself along side any reputation they still had.
The game play at least looks half way decent. but i still think it should have never been called saints row, at least then nobody would have felt betrayed.

It's funny a lot of people think 1 and 2 were the best Saints Row games, but I think it was 3 and 4. Saints Row 1 and 2 looked more like another GTA wannabes, while 3 and 4 were original, that's when Saints Row caught my attention.

A more grounded tone!? People were and still are pissed because of the forced hipster/gen z theme. We want the tone of an actual gangster game like SR1 & SR2, not a worse copy of Just Cause 3!
But the world has moved from that, and so has gangster culture too I would bet. If they just did a retread of the guest two games I think people would largely consider it dated and stuck in the past.
I'm so stoked for this. I always preferred Saints row series over any other sandbox RPG in this sub genre. It had a air of drama when it needed to and comedy when it wanted to. Over the top like playing a playing a action movie but while people a criminal empire with a dubstep gun. Instead of being another full out gta clone. It was like a "ganster" game for the rest of us.

I'll be honest....when people complain about the hud, I just don't care. Yeah sure it may seem crowded to you, but I need all the help I can get. I don't want to guess how much health some dude has before fighting them. I like to see that they have enough health where a couple of bullets will do the job rather than wasting a whole clip and wondering why he isn't dying. The hud for me is helpful.
I think the game looks good, I am not bothered by the new co-op characters, if the developers do as they say and bring all these features to the game and if the game will run smoothly without any bugs then I have no issues.
I am also glad to see they brought back character customisations, never understood why it wasn’t there after Saints Row 4 plus it is good there is no superpowers, aliens, a giant energy drink can man ‘Paul’ and ridiculous Holiday Christmas levels
