I agree NFTs are worse. At least microtranactions give you something for your money even if it's just virtual items, at least one can argue they are buying entertainment. An NFT is literally worthless. It's like paying extra to get your reciept at the grocery store.
Remember, if you accidentally buy the *NONE-ETERNAL* Legendary Crests, the loot you get from them aren't tradeable.

Me when my csgo skin and I haven't played csgo since 2019. I don't actually have a problem with f2p games monetising customisation and cosmetics. However monetising something that can change gameplay and how people play it is a whole nother story
@@allekid I was disgusted by the skin concept when it started entering games, mostly because it came through a gambling scheme targeting children but also because the inevitable result - a bunch of stupid-looking skins that don't match an artist's vision - would clutter up the view, making the game look trashier. It would be less offensive if there were planned, limited skins of a fair fixed cost made with an overall creative design in mind, but sadly, even games with fixed cost skins mutate the creative feeling of the game and charge absurd amounts of money. I think the last Valorant skin pack costed US$400 to unlock completely.
I only buy games that give you access to the full game at a fair price. The usual ways are a single upfront cost or a monthly subscription (to pay for server costs and continued development, fixing bugs and possibly adding content) Back in the day, you could download your own skins for free if you wanted your game to look stupid and goofy. These days, you have to spend dozens or hundreds of dollars.

Kinda seems like the devs had more fun designing a predatory monetary system, than any of the players had when playing this game.
I hear tell there were more psychologists involved creating the monetary systems, than there were actual developers.

Right? I mean, Diablo 2 was about their last really good Diablo, and that’s 20 years out of date now, we have dozens of great isometric lootfests now. What’s Diablo even doing anymore that other games don’t?

@@makoinfused1114 10 months vs. 5 minutes if you pay for each boss run is technically 'longer' yes. It took a streamer 1000 tries to get a good item, so step one for a f2p is becoming immortal so you can play the game for 800 years. I guess the game's title was a hint about who it's designed for?

I feel like crypto games are going to be like this. Even in Mines of Dalarnia, you have to pay 30 cents (according to current exchange rate) to play a level, depending on who owns the land and sets the price. If you want to go to a different planet to find other land, you have to pay 6 dollars for a 6 month pass. And then you only make like a few cents back per level. Unless you spend a bunch of money to buy minerals to craft better gear with, but they are only marginally better. If you want to own land, you have to participate in a lottery where the more you stake, the greater your chances of getting a plot of land, and the average winner staked probably around $10k. You only have to pay $30 for the plot of land during the lotteries, but over time as demand rises the land will cost a lot more, and so will the mining fees as a result, then what I see happening is people deciding it costs too much for them to mine and they stop playing the game and the bubble bursts, and the land owners can't recoup the cost of purchasing the inflated land. In the end it dies a slow death, because there isn't anything interesting about it anymore, unless the devs come up with new content, but they probably will. But I imagine there will be people who will lose a lot of money playing it. And the only way to prevent yourself from losing money is to be as stingy as you would in real life, and value the in-game features relative to everything else that is bought and sold. Which is not a lot considering you can get older fully featured games on sale on Steam, and the library just keeps growing. And being that stingy would be a boring way to play, and like in real life, it becomes a lot of work to find viable avenues to make money, and it takes all the fun away.
The best promo ever! I'm going to download and play the game!
I actually got a Diablo Immortal ad when you said it was "the most egregious cash grab ever created."

Instead its just a bit sad that no one has put it out of its misery yet. Blizzard does not deserve this perversion of its former self but there are no zombie hunters in the corporate world so onwards it will go until it has completely rotted away... perhaps just a few more years?

Blizzard just needs to be put down like an old dog. Like on Of Mice and Men, One of the guys had a bitch, and wouldn't you know it, had some other dude do the dark deed. He wished after hearing that blast of buckshot, he should have killed it himself.
We need to be the ones to put down Blizzard. Behind the temple. Be sure to tell them about the farm and the rabbits, George.

My life would have been no different if I never played Diablo or WarCraft as a kid, or their later stuff as a high schooler or college student. My last purchase of a Blizzard game was The Frozen Throne expansion, I dodged the World of WarCraft bullet thank God, and it's going to stay that way until the heat death of the universe.
@@ChristopherSadlowski I didn't know they were that garbage during the Diablo 1/ Warcraft 1 days. Elaborate so I can be suitably disgusted?
Then play a much better online game with him; Final Fantasy XIV.
The fact that I got a Diablo Immortal ad when this video ended made me laugh my ass off XD
The only way to win is to uninstall the game and realize who the final boss is...we're in the endgame now
You mean you haven't discovered the even more super secret mode that lets you add 28 more Eternal Legendary Mythic Bullcrap Crests yet? You only get those by signing up for a Diablo Immortal branded Visa card with 129% APR, but it's worth it to unlock the all-new SIX STAR Legendary Gems!!!
The animation quality is so good in these videos man, that fire pit at the end, the blizzard guy in a tube, random demon guy, all 👌
I don't know if Circle still does this, my guess is yes since it's now so much a part of his look, but he works in MS Paint! He draws and moves the characters in the program, points his camera at the screen, and records. It's amazing. That's why you can see the pixels on the drawing surface; that's not a fancy overlay he's using.
I love that I got a Diablo immortal ad before this.
Is this a documentary on diablo immortal?
Too accurate to not be that
This documentary on immortal was really enlightening. You can really tell, someone did their homework...
Diablo indeed, because this game was made by the devil
i got a diablo immortal ad while watching this
i love irony
Have to appreciate that I got a Diablo Immortal ad before this video
I am very happy to be a part of older generation that was able to enjoy great games made by enthusiasts in early 2000 with little to no monetization. Young and future generations are so screwed.
Facts
It’s all about shitting out the next cash grab that looks just good enough to attract customers
@@tacos5718 that true like EA and other company who don't care how the game come out along they make money
Indies still exist, and I’d recommend buying more of them when projects like starfield are either broken, unfinished, unpolished and predatory garbage is released by the AAA market. There are devs who are worth supporting.
Stop playing AAA games because they're uniformly becoming shit.
Play indie games like Deep Rock Galactic, a pretty recent one. No predatory monetization there. Everything that affects gameplay has to be earned through gameplay.
You gotta give it to blizard for making an actual free to pay game
Youre free to pay... If you want to play
this is hilarious but quote ever " my brother the evil is here and you just gave them your credit card info" ...its so unironically true..
Circle, don't stare into the void. After all, it stares back.
Y’know, i never appreciated how well timed that endsceen is.
It's the Don't you Guys have Phones game!
I heard it drains your soul and money all together because how bad the microtransactions are.
i received a survey in game and i basically made this my main argument.
What’s funny is I got a diablo immortal ad when I clicked on this video
