About the Speaker:
Dr. Uppal is Distinguished Professor of Research at the Catholic University of America, Washington DC, where he has taught for 33 years. He specializes in financial management with a Ph.D. and an MBA from Michigan State University. His published research covers, besides Pakistan’s financial and economic issues, Islamic Finance, development finance, emerging capital markets and risk models. He has been a frequent Visiting Professor to several Universities in Pakistan.

It is incorrect that Raj Rammohan Roy began " Hindu" reforms. Reforms began as early as 5 th century. Again in 8 th and 15 th centuries by different reformers all very well known respected, documented and their writings in Sanskrit and various other Indian languages including straight texts, poems, hymns, etc. It is shameful and laughable that Pakistan's " elites" deliberately avoid 90% of India's factual history and focus only on recent ( 18 th or 19 th century,) to suit their made up thesis. Also comparing " gurukuls" with madrasas is idiotic. Don't forget the oldest University, Nalanda that existed for so long until destroyed by a " don't like education" Muslim tyrant. Neither speakers would want to go there, obviously. Another aspect Roy's well needed reform was more cultural, not religious and was confined to a specific region and practices.
Caste exists in India mostly in pockets of rural areas. It still plays a role in elections and is kept alive by losing parties like Congress. IT HAS Minimal impact in day to day life. But if you see a group of friends male or females anywhere in India you will finds that all castes are represented and this is evident right from primary schools through adult hood. In towns and cities nobody cares what caste you are.
Regarding muslims of the sub continent, yes they are all seen as converts from the lowest castes either through coercive means or other. But in present day India Muslims are getting more inclined and inspired by c-grade Muslim countries, sharia, and other stuff ignoring the vast opportunities. Just look at the burquas in any city or town. They were occasional sights even 15-20 years ago, but now they are everywhere and more defiant. MUSLIMS think it is their right to have multiple wives and children instead of common laws for all. So the crocodile years shed by the two speakers about " poor Indian Muslims" is both pathetic and laughable.
It would be good if you gave the entire lecture in English. So that all people who do not understand Urdu and Punjubi but are interested in issues affecting Pakistan could follow the lecture.
Endless discussion on problems does not bring useful results. Observation on that small industrialist who spoke positive. Encourage such people for positivity. Best of regards.

Unfortunately there is big void towards east of Pakistan before Bangladesh border starts. Now how they would become part of global supply chain. Theory is OK.
