Supercharged Ford Fiesta Mk2 || ST170 Engine Swap - Retro Rides Gathering 2018

- One of the most intriguing cars on this year´s edition of Retro Rides Gathering was this Ford Fiesta XR2 Mk2 from 1987, powered by the 2.0L engine from the Focus ST170, but with the addition (of a very audible) Eaton Supercharger.
Property of Liam Stolton, it is an immaculately finished machine and one that is by now extensively modified, going far beyond the engine swap already mentioned. Adding to the Eaton M45 Supercharger that makes it possible to achieve 198Hp/7.500Rpm, there´s also a Quaife IB5 gearbox to transmit the power to the Front Wheels, with its interior fully striped to ensure that this machine weighs the minimum possible (around 850Kg in this case), all adding to the use of lighter material when it came to the bespoke Aerodynamic kit that really sets this Fiesta Mk2 apart from any other you have seen until now. - Авто та транспорт

It reminds of my youth in the 80s.Great sound coming from the engine. I wish I still had my Fiat 132 Supermiriafiori Sport which was souped up. A sleeper as they are called nowadays.
The whine really make me think of the supercharged version of the Ariel Atom, i love it.

They probably did it to get enough air in the turbos, cooling and weight saving.

I briefly spoke to Liam at the Forge Action Day at Castle Combe back in September, just after he had done some damage to the car after a small accident. This may be the reason for the bonnet missing, but I can’t say for certain!

Most be tuned for reliability and response. An RS turbo setup is a lot easier and will yield 200bhp without too much trouble.

Nice, but I'd prefer a similar spec'd 205 GTI. That Peugeot chassis puts the power down far better than a MK2 XR2.

I personally think the supercharging sound is annoying. Like an amplified sound of having belts on too tight or an rc car racing next to you at all times lol. But that's just an opinion.
