All the best for Brighton Andy, you’ve had a brilliant training block. I doubt there is anyone out there who has ticked off every single session from a programme. As long as you’ve done the majority (which you have easily done) then the plan will work. You may run many more marathons, but you’ll never run your FIRST again! Go enjoy it and can’t wait to hear how it went 🏃🏻♂️
My mantra is "never again!!" And here I am doing marathon number 11 !!! Should have been here in Brighton with my mate, but Covid caught up with him 3 weeks ago😡 Might see you in the 4 to 4.30 starting pen tomorrow 👍 Good luck to you and all Brighton marathoner's 👍
Andy, you are so wise to go into this marathon to enjoy it and not get too mathematical or analytical. Some people with running vlogs get so mathematical, even with watches that tell them exactly what speed they need to go in each quarter mile -- it takes all the "free running" fun out of it. Good for you that you care about having fun instead of being mathematical. Good luck in your marathon!
@@itsonandy Yes, Andy, you have life exactly right! Remain happy and healthy and cross the finish line with a smile. That other guy who makes running blogs on UA-cam seems like a very nice guy, but he is taking the fun out of it with all his precise watch predictions and measurements. You are more of a "free spirit who runs with the wind." Well done, Andy!
Go Andy Go! Will be supporting you all the way from the Caribbean. I had done a few 30km+ runs before my first marathon (4h:40m first marathon time and 4h:14m second marathon time). What did I learn. The marathon BEGINS at 32km. You see that oasis between 32-40km 🤭 that is where you will meet the real Andy. If you have supporters coming to watch you..let them wait after 32km so at least you have someone to run to meet and to cheer you through that tough period.
Good luck Andy for Brighton! I have really enjoyed your vlogs & am looking forward to seeing how race day goes. I know you will do well because you have put the work in & have been consistent - you will ace it! Short on inspirational quotes but I did listen to a podcast by a 96 year old marathon runner who said when it gets tough he says to himself - just stay loose as a goose. Meaning don't waste energy by tensing up your muscles for instance in the shoulders, back, neck, arms etc. Let the energy flow through to your legs & relax
Your improved PBs are impressive but the Marathon is a completely different animal. Have fun. Enjoy it. Respect it. Mantra, "first half smart, second half brave" and you'll achieve your goals. The very best of luck. You got this!
You are a instantly likeable character Andy, such genuine enthusiasm and heart. It has been wonderful following you on this journey and I’m sure you have inspired many to go on this journey themselves (like myself 😊) All the best for tomorrow, personally I’d deliberately go slow just to PB on your next one 😄. Good luck 🏃🏻👏
One piece of advice I’ve always held onto is to ‘run the mile that you are in!’ Yes we all have an end goal to reach for but how are we going to get there without focusing on what’s in front of us first! Your body can withstand almost anything, it’s your mind you have to convince! It’s safe to say this has been quite a journey for you Andy and Sundays Marathon is just the beginning of a new adventure for you, you’ve put in the graft and committed to a mammoth of a task but you’re almost over the finish line now, go out there and do yourself proud! Rooting for you buddy!
Good luck Andy, gutted I’m not on the start line. Enjoy your first marathon I’ve never yet finished one not in tears ( of joy and pain!) Tough times never last, tough people do 💪🏻
"Everybody comes to a point in their life when they want to quit. But it’s what you do at that moment that determines who you are.” - David Goggins You got this Andy! Good luck brother! Looking forward to your marathon video!!!!
I put that comment there;) But! You have given me a lot to think about, and I need to look at the positives, instead of the negatives...;) Best of luck on the race!! You got this, mate! I'm absolutely sure of it! MTFBWY!
Sadly I’ve had to pull out as not recovered from covid. But I’ll be there cheering. So I’ll look out for you. It’s not a mantra but don’t think ahead or worry about the next km. concentrate on the km you are in. Hold your pace for that km. tick it off. Move on to the next one. Use the energy from the crowd too. There is nothing like your first marathon. Enjoy it!
Good luck Andy for Brighton you've improved massively , 1st marathon is a time to enjoy the moment it's a guaranteed PB , my favourite mantra I'd say is Don't stop because it hurts I stop when I finish .
@@itsonandy it was a great day. Struggled a small bit but have to say the support was out of this world which made all the difference. To be honest I have it booked for next year again. Maybe I might see you there🤔😁
Good luck Andy, I've enjoyed your series immensely! You've inspired me to train for Brighton next year, and as a resident of Brighton, I'll be there to cheer you on this Sunday!

Thanks Andy and good luck 🤞 I’ll be with you on the start line and probably in the same wave start 4:00 - 4:30 . We can only do what we can now …. Smile as much as you can and drink in the atmosphere the time will take care of itself if we stay relaxed 🏃🏻♂️👊
Nice one Michael - looking forward to it hugely! I've opted for the blue wave in the end but no doubt I'll see you in the morning, or at least at some point!
Having just done my second marathon at Manchester, I look back and feel you almost need to get the first marathon out the way as the second time will feel a hell of a lot easier. Battle through the hard times tomorrow mate and you’ll reap the rewards in future marathons!
You’ve got this mate, you’ve trained really well and consistently (I don’t think it’s possible to follow a plan to the letter unless you’re a pro 😂). Go out and smash it but more importantly enjoy yourself, some beautiful views on the Brighton course. Looking forward to seeing how you’ve got on
