So I thought, wait a minute, is the Warfarer actually that bad, statistically? As we were told that it’s downside is lower stats. Well, in order to assess that I had to make this.

    Thanks for watching guys.
    Just for clarities sake we don't know the actual stat growth. Like I mentioned multiple times I'm just showing averages so you can see the base stats of each class. Which matters more the higher your level goes. There is a stat cap, sure, but switching vocations will impact your stats base. You will take more damage as an archer than a trickster.

      Stats become the same at lvl200 until then there will be some variance between which vocation you are when leveling up.

      I've been trying to actually skim through different playthroughs on youtube of people playing different vocations to get a detailed breakdown of how much each individual stat increases per level increase. Then i want to see if that has permanent affects down the road for changing vocations, to see if the base stats still have some influence in how your stats reallocate upon changing your vocation.

      This was the biggest thing for me. I get to pick any armor I want even though I'm essentially just playing it like a magic archer without my ultimate but to replace my ultimate I get on demand heal and I can float for utility. Foremost, probably not worth the trade off but so far I like it because I hate that I need pawns to springboard me but they won't do it when I want them to when I need to fly across the gap but I Can't because my favorite class is magic Archer So warfarer has been nice.

      Likewise, in my NG+ I'm playing warfarer but 3x magic archer skills and a mage staff so I can use the utility. Level 200 caps all stats at exactly the same so growth only matters on the journey to that peak. 99.9% of players won't even come close to hitting that level so this is still relevant info but superfluous when considering the cap. I find that Warfarer has suited my needs being able to play warrior without rearmament and just swapping to medusa bow for exp kills and mage staff for getting seekers tokens. By endgame, the gear for fighter tends to have a crazy amount of KDR which can be worn as a warrior to supplement the loss of those stats. Combined with hyper-armor, I no longer feel enemy attacks and just plow through bosses.
    The best part of this game is there's no wrong answers and lets you play how you want while carefully balancing each other out. Honestly one of the best game series ever made for RPGs.

      @@mrmaggot6699 There are videos deep diving on the subject that show stat growth via spreadsheet for each vocation and what they found was each of them will reach the same stat cap by 200. It was obviously done to keep the game from becoming a joke at extremely high levels and ensure balance across vocations. Pretty genius considering you could level warrior for a long time and push the STR stat high, then swap to a magic user once that stat growth cools. 8:37 this table ignores that some vocations have access to hybrid damage type weapons. Warrior, Fighter and Thief can use their Magic stat with weapons that deal magical and physical damage, while the Archer vocation only has access to physical only bows and Magick Archer only has access to magical only bows.

    I did some testing and a level 65 Pawn leveled completely as lvl 4 - 65 Warrior got him 300 more HP than usual when switched to fighter after I was done leveling him. He has close to nearly 1k Defense, 2500 HP, and 450 Mag Def in best in slot gear with Vermundian upgrades. Based on this information I think it is best to level tank pawns as Warrior instead of fighter. They will have a very noticeable amount of +HP, +Def, +Str. They're basically a pseudo warrior with a sword and shield.

    • @icarusreaver3184
      @icarusreaver3184 4 місяці тому +2

      Not entirely so. The minute details of every single level don’t affect standard gameplay so much as generally knowing if a certain stat is low/mid/high for that level.
      DDDA had permanent stats with levels giving the same rewards from 1 to 10, then 11 to 100, an then 101 to 200 if I remember the breakpoints correctly.
      In this game you don’t have permanent increases based on vocation at level up so it’s not as important.

    To be more accurate you'd have to level from 1 (2) to X as the class; stat growths per level also change depending on what class you level up as, similarly to how it was in Dragon's Dogma 1.
    Just swapping the class once you reach a certain level makes for quite a weird mish-mash of stats - my Pawn who was mostly a fighter/warrior had almost 200 more strength than magick after a swap into sorcerer.

  • @TheBllizarx
    @TheBllizarx 5 місяців тому +8

    I don't think this are completely accurate. I might be wrong of course, but, from my understanding, what you did (see the stats for each class at lvl73), will still be affected by the partial stat growth you had until you reach that lvl (what classes you played with).
    This does not affect the comparison between stats of each class growth (example: the str gained by the warrior compared to the one gained by the Magick A, is true, as the stat not related to the class is the same). However, it does affect the stats growth comparison between different stats (example: if you play mostly warrior during your game, you will have a higher str than mgk as a non vocation stat, so, when you change to warrior, you will see a very big str and low mgk, and when you divide it, you get something similar to the "per lvl growth", but when you then see a Magick A, although by comparison, his mgk growth is high to other mgk growth, comparing to the str, it ill be small, because you will have a total of mgk small compared to the str you acquired throughout the game).
    This means for example, that what you have in min 8:50, is not true, as every mgk gain, will be smaller than the str gain (you can actually see it, your str green numbers, for example, are much higher than the mgk green numbers, which leads me to believe, you played mostly as a str class).
    I believe that the way to solve this (or at least mitigate), is to redo all the numbers, with relative numbers, and not the absolute ones (in stats). So to explain, instead of seeing how much str you have as a warrior and a magick A, you see, how much the the str the warrior an the magick A have, compared to one specific class, lets say, warfarer, and then you will get a reason, that tells you how much of each stat, everyone gets related to the warfarer, that will have the same number, for all stats).
    Hope it wasn't to confused what I said, and that I did not made any logical mistake, but I believe it is worth at least thinking about it.

      I agree that the information OP showed in the video doesn't match what he is talking about. Quickest way to compare things is to use a cheat engine to get from level 1 to 100 lets say for each vocation and then note the stats as each vocation. So 1->100 for fighter, note stats as each vocation, repeat for mage etc... I saw a table with the "base stats" that each vocation gives somewhere so theoretically if that was correct information you wouldn't need to repeat as much.

BUT for about... 10 levels now? only my health and stamina have increased. at some point your other stats just dont get any upgrades anymore, no matter what class you play. on the sorcerer, the last few levels increased my strength, just to balance out stats, so in the end, your stats really do not mean much anyways, since all of them will cap out at some point with the "minmaxing" result being only sliiightly different from eachother. i still remember when my fighter pawn wore 2 health increasing rings to get to 3000 health and now hes wearing 2 strength increasing rings, but still having 3000 health just cuz its the last stat that keeps on increasing.

    It's worth noting that your stat growth per level is determined by your vocation at the time. Yes, your stats change when you switch vocations. But compare a level 40 pawn of a particular vocation that only has one vocation ranked up with another that has multiple and you'll see a stat difference. Meanwhile, all other pawns that have also only played as that one vocation will have identical stats, as will players. Source: tested this myself. Therefor, stat growth per vocation cannot be calculated by just switching between them on one character.

    Ok now my take on Stats in DD2
    I'd say the formula is as follows:
    S = Shown Base Stats
    B = Vocationspecific Basestats
    L = LevelUp Stats
    A = Armor stats
    T = Total stats
    T = S + A
    A = A of course
    S = B + L
    L seems o work just like in DDDA
    B would be like that:
    Imagine baseline are those stats:
    Health 100
    Stam 100
    Atk 100
    MAtk 100
    Def 100
    MDef 100
    Now for example (imaginary values) lets say Fighter gets
    Health 200 (+100)
    Stam 100

    MAtk 100
    Def 250 (+150)
    MDef 200 (+100)
    Mage gets
    Health 100

    Atk 100
    MAtk 200 (+100)
    Def 100
    MDef 200 (+100)
    Now to conclude: It's a hybrid system. Stats work as in DDDA but when changing vocation your actual base values (B) will change. As in: change to fighter? Get boosts to health, atk and def. Change to mage? Get boosts so stam, matk and mdef. For example.
    On earlier levels it might make a bigger difference but the higher your level the more obsolete "B" becomes and the more important "L" and "A" become. That is until you reach the stat cap then eventually you'll max all your stats. And then L is always fixed. Then the only difference comes from A and B even if B is only a minor difference at that point.
    And no i didn't do excessive testing on that. Just watching my statgrowth and comparing it to my pawn alone makes me think that THIS is how it truly works

      What you denote as B seems to be incredibly random though, using my pawn as example as he's been a mage constantly for 20+ levels now (with all vocations maxed) and I've recorded every single level up.
      54: HP +10, STA +3, STR +0, MAG +0, DEF +5, M.DEF +7
      55: HP +2, STA +4, STR +1, MAG +1, DEF +0, M.DEF +4
      56: HP +4, STA +2, STR +2, MAG +7, DEF +0, M.DEF +0
      57: HP +8, STA +3, STR +0, MAG +4, DEF +4, M.DEF +4
      58: HP +5, STA +2, STR +4, MAG +0, DEF +2, M.DEF +0
      59: HP +4, STA +1, STR +3, MAG +8, DEF +0, M.DEF +5
      60: HP +11, STA +3, STR +0, MAG +8, DEF +3, M.DEF +2
      61: HP +1, STA +2, STR +4, MAG +0, DEF +0, M.DEF +0
      62: HP +1, STA +2, STR +0, MAG +2, DEF +4, M.DEF +7
      63: HP +8, STA +0, STR +1, MAG +11, DEF +1, M.DEF +11
      64: HP +4, STA +5, STR +0, MAG +0, DEF +3, M.DEF +2
      65: HP +8, STA +2, STR +1, MAG +4, DEF +0, M.DEF +0
      I could continue for a fair bit longer, but I think the point is rather clear. He has never changed vocation during that entire time, probably not even gear, yet the stats he gains are wildly different each time without any, to me discernible pattern at all, especially with his level 63 randomly defying any "budget" theory.

    I love this hard, usable information. What I would love to see next is the same but for training combat behavior in pawns. I read a comment on another video saying that if you set yourself up with the same build and vocation as your pawn, they'll start mimicking your combat style.
    But do they observe you even when they're in another vocation and will suddenly have their updated AI once you tell them to switch to the one you've been playing - or do you both need to be the same one at the same time throughout the entire process? And which components of your style will they learn, and how intelligently do they use them? I have a lot of questions because there's no hard information as of yet.

    the game is actually well balanced over the stat growth and adapted to vocation and how we would use it
    warfarer, even though average on stat, also have access to all armore, allowing for balance between defens en magick défense, and can equip the weapon with most higer stat of strength or magick, but cannot use maisre skill
    archer, is more of a debilitation support than a dps guy, that is why it doesn't have much stat for it
    thief is you skill spammer (spin to win and invulnerability) so give him a lot of stamina
    fighter got decent everything in equipment and is made for durability, with a defensive option, giving him to much hp would make fighter an invulnerable machine while warrior will take hit trying to charge or hit his ennemies, so a lot of hp, stagger resistance and physical defense, on top of huge damage to compensate slow pace. warrior is the knockdown guy
    hybrid vocation take the point to being very hybrid, taking advantages and disadvantages of what they are, mystic spearhand is weak because sorcerer is weak, but deal massive damage beaucause fighter and sorcerer do so, more over, it has good evasive option so giving the vocation defensive stat would have make it the best, stat wise
    magick archer is... busted, high damage magick skill with low prep time and huge aoe (seriously, have you guys tried the lifetaking arrow skill ? it just shread mobs down while potentially healing your pawns, and with the big ice chunk it has acces to physical damage)
    they all encapsulate in their stats what they're doing in combat

    Warfarer is just way too clunky to be enjoyable. Every other class has a smooth set of rotations to use and that keeps the combat smooth and flowing. Warfarer requires you to manually swap weapons to use each class skill and that's why it sucks, it adds a pointless layer of finicky weapon swapping that really isn't needed. I swapped out of the class once I hit max dcp rank and went back to thief/Mystic spearhand. If only the devs had made each skill use the weapon it's linked to automatically, it would have resulted in a more free-flowing play style.

    Best solo build I could come up with -
    Max thief for str boosting augment
    Max sorc for magic boosting augment
    max archer for weak spot damage
    once youre done with that use either a thief with a magical dagger that deals mixed damage (heaves keys or frosted edges if you cannot get the keys). Mixed damage dealer that is just way better than the spearhand.
    or you can play a magick archer BUT you need some strength because some enemies are very resilient (or downright immune) against magic damage and you get access to some ice block skill that deals a ton of physical damage.
    The magick archer is also just a worse class for solo play because the thief is very safe - you give up I frames and masterful kill for more dps on bosses because you have range. Magick archer base stats are also pretty bad. But it shouldnt be a huge deal because you will most likely level as other classes a whole bunch.
    You can melt the hardest monsters in the game with either of those classes no problem.
    If you feel like doing extra you can max mage for stamina recharge and get warrior to rank 5-6 or so cant remember which exactly for penetrating enemies armored spots (its pretty important for the thief actually).
    Warfarer is a trap dont touch that class.

So these numbers are all irrelevant. If you really wanna know stat growth speed then you have to make a fresh character of each vocation starting from lvl 1 on each.

    • @kathrynbigelow3735
      @kathrynbigelow3735 5 місяців тому +3

      it's a hybrid system where some base stats swap whenever you change vocations and some stay the same based on what vocation you've leveled up. but the "level up stats" all have a cap, and at level 200 (maybe lower but that's the level people keep calling out), everyone's "level up stats" are the same.
      all the stat growths he points out in this video are for reaching stat caps "faster." swapping between physical and magical classes at lower to middle levels will be a tiny bit punishing, but it's better for "faster" growth towards stat caps. you might do like 5-15% less damage or something compared to if you stuck to pure magical or pure physical, but it'll take longer to reach stat caps if you don't swap around.
      so basically, it no longer matters what you play, and you should just do whatever seems the most fun to you, since you gain something/lose something-yet can still reach stat cap-either way. :)

    I've just watched the video and it has a lot of false information. The testing is flaw and the chart is completely wrong. Here's some basic break down. The top chart simply shows the difference in the base vocation stat not stat growth. For instance At level 1 fighter has 650 HP, archer has 500 HP. The difference is 150. Here at lv 73, 2088 - 1938 = 150 exactly. You use the same character whichever vocations you have used to level were not disclosed and then just change the vocations and record each stat in the ( ) and call that the base stat. That is the first mistake. Hence the chart you make simply reflects the growth of your characters and its vocations at various level. Did you level it up completely as a sorcerer? or was it a mix? This affects the second chart.
    The growth number you show using maths on the second chart reflects the stat growth of your vocation combination and not of each individual class. Hence the numbers are completely wrong.
    You claimed that Mystic Spearhand has lower stat growth than Wayfarer, among other things like surprisingly your for your character its Mystic Spearhand at level 73 has 343 Strength which is lower than Warrior (obviously) but surprisingly higher than Fighter. This is where the methodology is wrong. If you were to level up a character from level 1 as a fighter it will have exactly 333.3 strength, not 308, and Warrior would have 421 strength at level 73 if level purely as warrior. Since you did not disclose what vocation you were at each level (and you probably don't have that data recorded either), there's no way of knowing. In short your chart simply reflects your growth and not the vocation growth.
    Addressing the calling the ( ) the base stat and think that the stat gain is the same in all vocation using ( ). That is simply not true. Capcom never called ( ) the base stat so it's up to the individual to decide what's the base stat. But here's the break down, each class has a "base vocation" stat, for example let's take HP: for fighter it's 650 HP, for archer its 500. You can see this if you make a character at level 1. Now, there's a hidden "true base" stat. All characters true base stat of all stats at level 1 is actually zero. The number you see in the ( ) is true base stat + base vocation stat. When you gain a level you gain DIFFERENT true base stat depending on which vocation you were on. For example at level 2, a fighter gains 25.2 HP whereas the archer gains 18 HP.
    Another terrible math mistake you make is this on the 2nd chart. Take fighter strength for example you simply divide 308 / 73 = 4.2 and call this 4.2 strength growth? That 308 has warrior specific vocation base stat included... Yeah that's definitely wrong. And the same go for the rest of the 2nd chart.

    i'm not sure if its misinformation, but there is no stat growth at all. there is base stats for the level ( for evey class) + extra stats for that vocation = your total stats (, before wep/ armour/ buff) . the base is fixed , but the vocation stats are added depending on your vocation. ie at lvl x , fighter will have x str, x magick , etcetc. sorc will have y str , y magic , y resistance etc etc. mage will get z str , z magic , z resist etc etc.
    what u think as stat grow per level will have no impact as all , as the different vocation stats gets reset every time u change ur class & u cant use sorc stat as a fighter anyway. As someone mention before, base stats cap at lvl 200, so vocation stats does not matter anymore.

      my pawn levelled only mage for 59 levels , their stats as a warrior ( naked ) is different as my arise as a warrior ( naked ) , not by much but it is different so the '' but there is no stat growth at all '' is bullshit .
      Edit : Everything points out to a hybrid of base + level up with a cap at 200 , making min max irrelevant at 200 but maybe relevant for very few before it .

      they do actually still work mostly like in the first game, its just that each class gets a different temporary bonus to make up for it. each class has different base stats but the stat bonus you get per levelup DOES depend on what class you are at the time it happened and you can test this yourself easily by unequipping all gear and then making both your character and main pawn switch to the same class... their stats will be different.

    • @palegod
      @palegod 5 місяців тому +1

      The amount of people still believing a pre-release rumor that was proven false immediately after the game came out is also sad. The only saving grace is that if you do bother to level up all the way to 200 then it will equal out because stats are capped and in the end you can easily cap everything just by ranking up every vocation to unlock the augments (and skills for warfarer to use).

    If I chose to start over, level archer to lvl 6, then Sorc to lvl 6, max archer then pick up Magic Archer, will my stats be fine for magical dmg output? Or should I just focus mage and sorc then Switch to MA for magic stats?

    • @SpliffyHusk
      @SpliffyHusk 5 місяців тому +1

      Just play, there’s stat caps, so eventually you will see strength added on your sorcerer and no magick. It all caps at 200, so at 200 you’re good, there’s literally no loss, you capped your stats.
