Thanks for taking the time and effort to make such great videos for us all.

    Cool use of the Syntakt here. I know you're a big fan of the Rytm, for someone who has OT & Rytm do you see a the Syntakt as a worthwhile addition? I'm starting to see more videos coming out with it that are utilising better sounds so getting more interested in it but still unsure if it's overkill with those 2 already. I have a DN & A4 because I love the Elektron workflow and how easy it is to just jam about but easily multitrack into a DAW if I ever want to.

    Hey, great video! I was thinking, this is a great video, how would you go on making a track of this? Would it be possible to record notes played and their respective parameter value as medi cc into your DAW and finally edit that and play it back through the synths themselves? I'd love to see that sometime!

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching and your question!
      I'd exclude the DAW from this occasion. I'd arrange and mix in the box, then practice playing it, then record a master out into a recorder.

    Hi Ihor, just a question: I’m considering to by some Elektron gear. What combo do you recommend? Analog Rytm + Analog 4 mk2 or Octatrack + Digitakt / Syntakt? I make deep tech - deep house sort of music.

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  9 місяців тому

      It is a very tricky question, to be honest! It depends on many things. Hard to answer! One thing I'd suggest though. For Deep House and Deep Tech you would need good sampler, like OT and DT. Rytm wouldn't be that great for it, A4 doesn't have samples at all. Perhaps going with OT + DT + ST would be better.
      I'd highly recommend watching some of the EZBOT streams on his UA-cam about the OT setups. Very interesting, detailed and on point.

    i think best Elektron trio would be syntakt and digitone into Octatrack. Have you tried this trio, Ihor?

    • @isaacanthonydj4124
      @isaacanthonydj4124 2 роки тому +1

      send OT cue output to audio input of either machine and have all 3 machines USB into DAW

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  2 роки тому +1

      This trio is a killer one. Despite that I’ve never had the Digitone, I know it is a beast haha

  • @davidbetts2980
    @davidbetts2980 2 роки тому

    So if I had a few synthesisers and a drum machine running through a mixer, could I use a Octatrack as a sequencer / clock? Or does it have to be a Syntakt? I want a dawless set up and trying to figure out what I need to link everything together.

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  2 роки тому +1

      Either of them can be a main clock or a sequencer. It is a matter of a particular setup. Though it’s quite common to have an Octatrack as the main “brain” for the dawless rig.
      Octatrack might be a better option for sequencing external hardware, because it has 8 dedicated MIDI tracks. While on the Syntakt you’ll have to sacrifice a track to make it MIDI.

    Ihor, do you rate closed back headphones for mixing purely on elektrons? I have rytm/A4 . I ordered Beyer 770s and 1770s to test. However I hear alot on how open back is really better for mixing but also have seen views that for EDM closed back is fine for mixing. thanks!

    • @IhorMedia

    So, Syntakt for good hats and cymbals?

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  2 роки тому

      Well, not sure really. It is a love & hate relationship for me with hats and cymbals. Today I like them, tomorrow I don’t haha

    • @outlier5844
      @outlier5844 2 роки тому

      @@IhorMedia Exactly! I'm mainly using Eurorack for drums and have a crucible for cymbal and a metal o tron and Hihats D for hat duties. I'm wondering whether I should go back into the box as these modules cost loads (comparatively) and are very specific and if I should use the eurorack more as an FX box to route stand alone boxes through a matrix mixer. Decisions decisions!

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  2 роки тому +1

      @@outlier5844 Yes! Exactly this - decisions, decisions, decisions... Then after the decision was made, for me it is very easy to change it!
      For the Syntakt hats... well, they are better than on the Rytm. At least the digital once.
